I've been coming to the Goodyear Recreation Center for about a year now, and it has truly become a…read morelifestyle for me. What started as buying a simple day pass, just trying to get active again after a few years, turned into something that completely changed my routine and mindset. I have to give a special shoutout to Obie. She is honestly the reason I keep my membership active. Her classes truly challenge you, but in the best way. They push you, encourage you, and somehow make you appreciate yourself and all the hard work you've put in. Obie is genuinely such a huge motivation. Her well-being, her demeanor, the way she carries herself, and the way she teaches really inspire you to be better. She's a true inspiration. After my very first class with her, I walked straight to the front desk and signed up for a membership. Every class feels like you're transforming your life for the better. She reminds you that your best is truly enough, no matter what, and that mindset has stayed with me beyond the gym. And the community that comes with it is just as special. I'm naturally a little shy, but the ladies here have truly helped me come out of my shell. Now I find myself wishing everyone a good morning when I walk in, even if I don't know them. They're always the first to offer advice or helpful tips when you're trying a new class, and they're just so kind and encouraging. I'm so grateful I found this place. I absolutely love it.

I've decided not to go to this recreation center ever again because of this Scooter guy at the…read morefront desk. He is the rudest, egotistical, and useless man I've ever met. VIsited with my family and he judged and pressed us about "what are you even gonna do here?" Instead of letting us pay and pass to a PUBLIC center. Like... I'm a goodyear resident and I'm not allowed to pass unless I prove that I'll make worth my while?? I have also heard several stories from the employees about him, and he sounds like a real piece of stool. Apparently, he follows and talks to teenage girls while ignoring the other clients and treating them rudely. Sounds like the police should check his laptop... This man should be fired before he does anymore real damage to the local goodyear residents.

Truly a hidden gem in the West Valley. We attended the Smoke on the Water (BBQ, Beer, and…read moreBourbon) event, and had so much fun! The event was well attended, with great local country bands, a kids zone, full bar, a cigar area (separated from the crowds) and tons of food. Bathrooms were plentiful and very clean. We camped on the shore of the lake, which was beautiful (especially at sunset). Camping is all dry camping, and spots were mostly packed gravel (though they are adding firepits and site grass areas soon). The view from our RV was awesome! As a bonus there was also boat races that weekend, which were fun to watch. The costs were reasonable. There are two wedding venues we saw (one had a wedding going) with lake views - very nice. What stood out most was how clean and well kept the entire place was. The staff was 100% customer service oriented and very hard working. They all were courteous, helpful, and fun. Nick was especially great and full of information for us first timers. This was our first time, not our last!

This is a cool spot. I would definitely recommend going to an event here. We went to Smoke on the…read moreWater where they had bands, food trucks and vendors. There was a BBQ competition that we had tickets for that but never got BBQ (as they ran out) Parking was a bit spendy, $15.00 per car. The bathrooms are awesome as crazy as this sounds. It wasn't a porta potty which I was for grateful for. It was clean, it was full of TP, hand soap and towels. For as many people who used it, I was happy Cool little spot in the middle of nowhere. I believe you can rent some water toys as well.

Looking for a fun, scenic adventure that almost anyone can enjoy? Head to White Tank Mountain…read moreRegional Park and take on the Waterfall Trail! The trail is mostly paved, easy to follow, and packed with beautiful desert scenery. Once you reach the end, the real adventure begins. Climb the stone steps, scramble carefully over the boulders, and explore the waterfall area. During certain times of the year, you may even find water collected in the pool below. Be sure to look up! There are two additional natural pools tucked into the rocks above your head, with plants growing along the cliffs and birds making themselves right at home. Keep watch for the local hawk that loves to perch dramatically on top of a nearby saguaro cactus. The true treasures of this trail are the ancient petroglyphs created by the Hohokam people. Many can be seen inside the protected, marked areas, but sharp-eyed explorers may spot even more etched into the surrounding rocks. They are incredible reminders of the people who lived in this desert long before us. I take nearly every visitor we have on this hike, no matter the season. It is one of my favorite places to show off the beauty, history, and adventure of Arizona! There are bathrooms and picnic tables near the trailhead, so pack some water, bring a picnic, and make a day of it!
