I got the curry goat with rice and cabbage, as well as the doubles. The portion sizes are large and [[HIGHLIGHT]]there are a few tables inside and outside for anyone that wants to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The doubles are among the most popular items and for about $5 you get a tasty chickpeas covered in a doughy flatbread. The menu features an array of meat and rice dishes around $20.

My second trip here, and curry goat was on my radar. The quantity of goat far exceeded what I received with the oxtail buss up shut I ordered last visit. This was my first time having Trinidadian curry goat, so the gravy texture and amount caught me off guard. It sat on top of the meat and rice, rather than being mixed in. The flavor profile was delicious, however, and the meat was tender with just the right amount of spices. I ordered a bake on the side, and I enjoyed that more than the roti.

I was craving for Caribbean food in the area a couple of weeks ago. This place came up as one of the highly recommended places on Yelp. I am glad I tried this as I am hooked to this place now. I have gone back here three weekends in a row to try different things. On my first visit, I tried chicken roti wrap and oxtails with rice, cabbage and peas. They were both so delicious. The portions were great. Lasted for 4 meals. Definitely get the hot sauce on the side. Adds nice kick to it if you like it extra spicy. The next time I ordered buss up roti with oxtail stew and buss up roti with lamb stew. They both come with chicken peas and potato curry. Blend so well together. So delicious. Kinda addicting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small place to dine in. They have about 5 tables. I recommend take out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Servers are great. They have so much patience in explaining some of their dishes if you're new to the Caribbean cuisine.

    Curry goat roti :) amazing

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good music. Felt good island vibrations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt like I was eating at my grandmas house ...got served a hot plate of food. Fresh to order.

My husband spotted an ad for this restaurant, and we decided to stop by only to find out they had just moved farther south on Georgia Avenue and recently held a grand opening. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The new space is bright, clean, and welcoming, and the owner couldn't have been friendlier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered takeout, so we didn't get to eat everything fresh, but overall the food was good. The chicken was a bit overcooked and the curry could've had more flavor, but the Dahl Puri was absolutely perfect. The salt fish was tasty, and the bake was impressively large. They also had sorrel and Irish moss, but we were too full to try them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were great, the food felt fresh, and the trip from Maryland to DC was worth it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We're definitely going back especially to try the bake and shark. Check them out!

This is the only place I found in the DMV that sells conch roti, so I come here ever so often to satisfy my craving. The conch is not tough. It's doesn't taste exactly like home but close enough.

Pholourie pea balls with Tamarind sauce. They were not crispy/ fried to order like I expected

I really loved the mango curry here. I didn't really know what to expect and was surprised to realize the mangos' skin was still on and had a great texture in the dish. Turns out Trinidadian mango curry is made from half ripe mangoes and uses the skin. It had light sweetness, great flavor and great texture. I got it with Bussup shutt style roti ( Trinadian dialect for "busted-up shirt" which is how it looks), they said they use dairy-free butter flavored shortening in it. I also tried the Pholourie pea balls with Tamarind sauce. They were not crispy/ fried to order like I expected but fun to try especially with the Tamarind sauce. I wouldn't get them here again though. The doubles here were really good in terms of flavor (I got it with all the fillings: channa, cucumbers, culantro, tamarind) and loved the sweetness balanced with savory and the softness. Flavor wise they were really delicious but once again, just like with the Pholourie pea balls, I found it disappointing that although they fry things fresh every morning but don't fry them fresh to order so the outside isn't crispy. I didn't like the service here and found their hours unreliable but I still think it's a very worthwhile place to try with so many interesting dishes. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

The roti itself is thicker than what I'm used to, almost pita bread like to be exact. However, the flavor is accurate and pretty good. They get bonus points for offering a boneless chicken option although that's lowkey a micro sign of gentrification, but if you look outside...I digress. The service was relatively quick and the guy behind the counter was friendly. They had a good sorrel though overpriced per usual. The macaroni pie was not memorable. I'd come back specifically for another thick roti to eat on for about 2-3 meals.

Strictly an oxtail review as I've had the buss up shut here (curry goat to be specific) and would've rated higher. The oxtail itself is really tender and delicious, but a Very small portion. The cut of meat is bony so it's to be expected but it's an especially meagre serving when the box is packed with rice and peas and a spoonful of cabbage. So I was disappointed by portioning. The 'callalloo' is spinach based with not much ochre so the consistency is off. It's just a different flavour than the authentic version. Service is fine, and the wait time for food is pretty accurate. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's pretty small, easy going casual atmosphere. Just a couple small tables to sit at and eat indoors[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've always loved Caribbean food, but I had never tried Trini cuisine--until I discovered this gem in my neighborhood. I ordered a double and the curry chicken roti. It was delicious and I'll be stopping by here more frequently.

Ask the Community - Teddy's Roti Shop

Anyone have a recent pic of the menu? Are they still operating? Hopping into the city and would love to support Teddy's and grab take out!

They are still around - my family just won't there yesterday to buy food. Great roti and doubles. Food I excellent. While I was there, I was tempted to take a pic of the menu he had up on the wall, but I didn't. I've been eating here for over 15…

Is there seating inside? Where do customers park?

Limited seating (just a few tables), but I've eaten inside before. Street parking on Georgia or the side streets.

Is this good like Roti back home in Trinidad?

    Yes, absolutely.

I mean there was only another couple at the time I visited but also the food came out quickly so huge plus! And the restaurant is spacious and casual so enough space for large parties. Overall I enjoyed it but there are a couple things that fell short! I ordered the chicken roti platter. 1.The roti! It's a very small portion served in a small coconut shaped bowl compared to the amount of food you got on the platter. I thought more was coming and unfortunately it was balled up in shredded little pieces that were kind of dry and i couldn't eat it properly with my sides. I thought maybe I had a bad batch but my friend had the same portion and complaint. Unfortunately no pic of that. 2: Honestly the plating is meant to be aesthetically pleasing but it was very hard to eat bone-in chicken out of a bowl on a saucer full of more bowls with a knife and fork. It was better when I took it to go and had a plate at home. Please reconsider this for the diners experience. 3. The doubles was my fave! It's a small app but very delicious and had a slight kick to it.

At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food....
