Is there an honest mechanic left in the world today? You just found him. If you're tired of getting the run around from all those national auto repair chains whose only concern is making a profit at any cost by deceiving you, then your prayers have been answered. I've been bringing all of my vehicles over to Ted's Auto since 1999 and they've never, ever taken advantage of me. As a matter of fact, I've probably taken advantage of Ted by asking him to fix my car sooner than later, which he has done almost every time. An old friend of mine who used to be a mechanic explained to me one day how complicated and difficult it is to be a "master" mechanic. A "master" needs to know how hundreds of different makes and models and their respective parts and pieces function and operate. He said that a mechanic needs to know as much (or more) about automobiles than a medical doctor needs to know about the human body. He made a good point. There is a lot to know in order to be a good if not a great mechanic. Well, if doctorates were available for mechanics, Ted would have three of them by now. He's been successfully fixing automobiles for decades now and has literally seen everything from crank shafts to computer modules. If Ted can't fix it, nobody can! I live a half hour away from Ted's shop and I still give him my business. That's how good he is. His shop is conveniently located just off of I-70 and West Broad on North Hague Avenue right in the heart of the Hilltop area. If you're new to town or need an honest mechanic at an extremely fair price, do not hesitate any longer. Call Ted today. I went to Yelp to find an auto mechanic and the previous reviews of Ted's caught my eye. While not the most sophisticated of repair shops, Ted is really knows his stuff. I agree with both Roy and David that Ted is extremely fairly priced and honest. There was no attempt to make any repairs that I did not come in for, he explained what was wrong, and how he would fix it. He even ended up charging me less than his quoted price. Two things to know before going: the waiting room is more of a small hallway in the shop with a few chairs (no A/C or anything) so I would not recommend waiting and he only takes cash or check. I have already recommended Ted to friends in need of a mechanic and will definitely bring my car back should it need more work. read more

I'm fairly car illiterate. Luckily, I trusted the Roy's review and took my car over to Ted's Auto Service. Ted had ample opportunity to do unnecessary repairs to my car, when all it needed was a repaired wire junction. He is extremely honest, answers the phones, does all the repairs, has fair labor charges, and does great work. Ted is the best. Yes, his shop is a bit sketchy looking and you definitely shouldn't plan on waiting there, but I trust him completely. Because I mentioned I didn't want to throw too much money at my old lousy car, he called twice in the process of repairing my air conditioner to make sure I was okay with the next step of the process. I am newer to the Columbus area and was looking for an honest mechanic when I found Ted's Auto on Yelp. Being a female and not very literate in the subject of cars & repairs, I had some concern whether I would be treated fairly or taken advantage of. However, I was very pleased with the job and paid a fair price that would beat out the cost it would have been had I gone to a chain mechanic shop. I can best describe Ted's Auto as a mom & pop shop. He did exactly what I asked him to do; nothing more, nothing less. I would definitely recommend him to others and will use his shop again in the future. When I first moved to Ohio 7 years ago, I was concerned I wouldn't have a trusted Mechanic to work on my vehicle. Luckily I came across Teds Auto Service and my prayers were answered. Ted is an excellent mechanic and is able to not only replace, but diagnose and come up with the best solution for each vehicles specific needs. This is an Auto Shop not a playground, which is refreshing knowing the money I'm spending is on my vehicle.. not to pay for the cable Tv and refreshments some auto repair services seem to put more emphasis on than in repairing vehicles. So to have a smooth process at Teds simply call ahead to see how quickly your vehicle can be serviced, understand that until your vehicle is in the shop being diagnosed he won't be able to answer all you questions. Ted doesn't fear monger and will give you straightforward answers once he's been given the opportunity to investigate the issues himself. I always call ahead and drop off my vehicle and when he's got the answers he calls me and we go from there. I've never been steered wrong at Teds auto Service, and wouldn't trust my vehicles with any other mechanic. read more
