Second time here and it's our last! This is a great place to overspend on bad food! We ordered the lobster,crab and shrimp boiled. My wife said the lobster had no flavor, the shrimp were small and way too salty due to a Cajun seasoning they use. I ate some of the crab and immediately knew this was really old stale tasting. The crab should have been thrown out and not served. At $50 for one plate of food if it was good we would have no complaints but when Long John Silvers can beat your product something is seriously wrong. I ordered a side of red beans, one taste and I realized this place is neither Cajun or Texan. A mouth full of salt is the only flavor profile. About a half hour after eating at Tejun,I felt quite ill and the taste of iodine from the crab nauseated me,I also suffered some very hard cramping. We have come to realize that if a Restaurant has been established in Waco many years it is only there because Residents of this City have come to accept really poor Quality, filthy kitchens, tasteless food, and bad service. I have cooked professionally and I am always looking for a great dining experience there's a few in Waco,Tejon isn't one of them. We are hopeful that Great Restaurants will come as the City blossoms, for now all of us locals know you get a better plate of food at home. read more

I can not complain about anything here! I got the big plate of crawfish and it was juicy and tender it was amazing! Even my little potato and corn were good, the butter was seasoned. The dining area and the bathroom were clean which is impressive and gives good hopes that so is everything else. I love this place! If you are a seafood plus cajun food lover, you have to give it a try. Their peeled boiled shrimp are so good.

I can't get enough of their crawfish! I also love their potatoes, corn on the cob, and the butter sauce they make that I put on both.

Have been here multiple times at the new location, this has an open atmosphere with picnic table type seating. Foot is very delicious, we usually get the peeled slap daddy which has shrimp and crab legs, with potatoes and corn, all covered in butter sauce. All had the Cajun taste you are looking for, they have smaller versions with kids, my 8 yr old loves the mac 'n cheese. Drink are free refills with purchase, there are host of shirts and other items with the TeJun name on it. Very friendly staff, food is served very quickly as well. read more

My favorite of all time restaurant!!! When they first came to Robinson in the food trucks I heard about how good they were so I waited in rain to get a shrimp and sausage plate. This is my favorite place to eat in central Texas. The only issue I've ever had is the parking and they have added additional parking this year. Even when lines are all the way out the door they get your order taken quickly. Fried food does take longer but it's expected because it's made when you order. read more

Seafood pretty much like a buffet. Seafood has to be prepared fresh. Not soaking in hot water. Quick food but not really fresh. I bought crab legs but had to work hard for every little bite. The only plus was feeding the catfish and turtles in the pond. read more

Awesome setup for eating boiled seafood. Try the "bucket buster" special for $30 which is plenty for this hungry Cajun and wife. Better prices than in Louisiana for sure! The owner was mingling with customers and it's evident that great care was given to seafood happiness. Boiled (not steamed) crawfish JUST like home. Great seasoning, too. Coming back to Texas after 2 years in the start of crawfish season needless to say we were really craving these little Cajun jewels, boy did these guys deliver.. we are basing this review off of the establishment and the crawfish only... walking in it's like walking into a Cajun fun spot, looks like a huge pole barn with all kinds of deer heads on the wall, tables all set up with big holes in the middle where a bucket is in place, then you order up at the window then sit and they call you when your order is up, there is a great added addition of a warm water hand wash station in the front for after. There is also options to sit outside under nice covered patio. The tables are set up with paper towels and choice of three spice rubs to use on your seafood, yummm, crawfish were exceptional couldn't have asked them to be made any other way, completely the way we like them, spicy, but not too, hint of boil, juicy yummy ness. Corn was really good, loved putting the shrimp spice with the not so hot rub on it and the potatoes...wowzer, you have us at 200%.. don't change a thing for us except keep them bugs coming... read more

The seafood here is delicious! There was four of us in our party and each one of us ordered something different. I had shrimp with a lobster tail, husband had catfish and shrimp with hush puppies, daughter had Jonah crab and lobster tail and friend had Jonah crab. Everything was hot, fresh and ever so tasty. The shrimp shake only enhanced the flavor of the shrimp but it really wasn't needed. I liked that it added some extra kick. The restaurant is clean and staff friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions since it was our first time going. They even offered helpful suggestions. I'm sure we'll be back very soon!! It was at my first visit I thought I found an authentic New Orleans style food gem outside of New Orleans. I had the fried shrimp and catfish combo and was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp were fresh and beautifully fried without a lot of breading. The fry coating was light but still gave a slight crunch without compromising the integrity of the shrimp-Im guessing they were16/20s. Not happy that the catfish were not filets, but nugget pieces-2 bite nugget pieces. It too, was fried with a lite fry coating and had a slight crispiness to it. I opted for a boiled red-potato instead of the fires. It came doused in some liquidy gold artificial butter imposter. The small hushpuppies were seasoned nicely and mildly spicy. My lunch mate was kind enough to allow me to taste his smoked sausage. It was meaty, lean, and flavored with just the right seasoning. At $14.99 for a large combo, I expected to have a least 1 filet of fish and not fish pieces. Over the flavor is full and robust. Probably not going to find anything better til you get to New Orleans, or somewhere in south Louisiana. They have weird business hours, open Wednesday thru Saturday. read more

I've been twice with my fiancé and were not disappointed by our food choices either time, but both times they were blasting Christian Contemporary music. Maybe consider changing the station 6 days a week, and play on Sunday's only? I can imagine large Church crowds going here in Sunday's for sure. For Waco seafood, it's pretty good. My food always comes out quick, though I'd say their food isn't really seasoned that much, it's more so just spicy. But the corn and potatoes are delicious, and I really only go for the crawfish, lobster, or shrimp. I wouldn't recommend the crab legs though, they never come out right. read more

Food is of good quality , but when it comes to flavor they're dead last. We tested them 1-2 times and the food is fresh but I guess they toss it in just boiling water and throw it on your plate. The one potato you get for a 10-20$ is small, the corn is dehydrated from over cooking. The customer service is nice and you can (purchase) seasoning to add to your meal. After years of anticipation the Texas Cajun finally has a brick and mortar location, complete with deck and bayou-evoking (mosquito breeding?) pond. The menu remains mostly the same. Basically, they have a seafood boil everyday, and if it can't be boiled and dunked in a seasoned butter dipping sauce, don't expect it. Some of the charm of the authentic, where-you-can-watch-it cajun boil is lost here, but the deck is many times more comfortable than the Brookshire's parking lot. The deck is where you'll want to be because the interior smells like a fish market. Another benefit of this location is that you don't have to go to Brookshire's for a drink. Keep in mind that you'll be paying seafood prices, so if you aren't prepared to spend a little more than usual you'll leave hungry. read more
