We ordered a couple Cabernets and cocktails (BTW...a lot to choose from) and some appetizers. A big house salad and 2 trays of fried calamari. All tasted very good! All were prepared perfectly And were delicious. Only wish the sea bass portion was a little larger. After dinner we ordered some espressos and cappuccinos With some dessert. All were excellent! The service and wait staff were all very friendly! Made us feel very comfortable and right at home. We will be going back ASAP! I highly recommend this place. When we arrived, at approximately 1:30 PM, we were the only customers present. All the tables were set and well presented and the tavern overall was very lovely. We sat at the bar and perused their menu. My wife and I decided on having iced teas today. Must say their iced tea was very good! We also ordered their Housemade chips as a starter. They were excellent! I had my eyes set on the crab and corn chowder. I asked our bartender/waitress what was the size differences between a cup and a bowl. She was not too helpful with her description, but one of the other staff chimed in that the bowl was about double the size of the cup. For a dollar more, why not? I must say it was delicious and I was very happy to have ordered it! For our meals, my wife ordered their chicken quesadilla, and I ordered their Caesar salad with grilled chicken blackened. My wife's quesadilla was enormous! Two tortillas filled with chicken and cheese! A side of sour cream and salsa came with it. My Caesar salad arrived, it was huge as well; however, there was no grilled chicken on it! I double checked with my wife to ensure I did ask what I thought I did, and she assured me that was the case. The salad was very good! Unfortunately, it just didn't have the protein I had asked for. At least our bill reflected exactly what we were presented. Our bartender was concentrating on another table that arrived while we were finishing up so it took some time for us to receive our bill. Four stars for the food, but due to service three overall.

We were heading up to Croton-on-Hudson for a show and none of the restaurant options were looking appealing. We wanted something with a view of the water since it was the first truly Spring weather day we'd had this season. I saw that the rating for this place wasn't spectacular, but loved the photos and decided to read recent ratings, and we decided, even if the food is "meh" at least we'll be outside by the water. The Boathouse did not disappoint. The host who seated us was friendly and enthusiastic. Our server was everything you want in a server: Friendly, Confident in making suggestions, Attentive without being pushy or annoying, and just an honestly great man who was so fun to chat with. We both just had mains: Husband had the seafood gumbo. Wow! So packed with flavor, and yes, the spice hit you on the back end, but SO yummy. Packed with seafood and sausage, rice that wasn't gummy, and I am sorry Tom Colicchio, the okra was delicious! The "slime" that we all fear had more of a velvety texture that was not off-putting at all, and the flavor was really unique and enjoyable. i had the Shrimp Luciano. Five jumbo shrimp without a hint of vein or shell, sautéed in an egg batter that crisped at the edges. The sauce...omg....so flavorful. I find so often that chefs add too much of spice and herb but not here. It was well balanced and so yummy. If I wasn't in public, I would have licked the plate clean! Oh, and it came with green beans, one of my least favorite vegetables because again, I find so many just over cook and over season. This were lightly sautéed so they had a fresh from the garden taste and a perfect snap to them. Garlic mashed potatoes...made with red bliss...had a sweet element, not sugary, but there was a flavor were just couldn't identify....maybe a hit a nutmeg? Regardless, they were heavenly. Then we made the decision to share a slice of the crème brûlée cheesecake. We didn't have room, but our "neighbors" at the next table said we had to try it...so we did. WOW! This was not your typical heavy overly sweet cheesecake. It was light, had specks of vanilla, a very thin lovely crust and the taste....sooooooo good. The wine by the glass choices were great: $12 for a wonderful glass of Albariño?? It was so crips and light and perfect with my meal. Husband had an IPA...we think it was called Maine Lunch and it was also delightful. I will note: the tables are NOT on the dock. They are a ways back but the water view surrounds you. I saw some tables set up right by the dock edge near the water and apparently they have a bar and music there once it gets warm. If it wasn't a 2 hour in traffic drive, this would be our new regular haunt. For now, we will have to make excuses to go up this way!

They have a program to text when your table was ready, so we went for a walk in the neighborhood while we waited. A surprisingly short time later, we received the text that our table was ready! The menu(s) had a wonderful selection of food and drinks, along with some specials. They do use a QR code for their menus, but noticed they also had paper menus upon request. Our server was friendly and attentive. The other members of staff would also check in as they passed by. My boyfriend enjoyed the PB & J Latte along with the creole shrimp Benedict. He said it was seasoned well, right level of spice, stated the eggs were poached perfectly, and really enjoyed how moist the cornbread was. I indulged with the "Tipsy Palmer" which is an Arnold Palmer with Bourbon in it. To be honest, there wasn't much of a bourbon taste to it, if any at all, but for a summer brunch drink, it was refreshing. For my entree, I chose the chicken Caesar sliders. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed as the brioche buns seemed a little on the stale/stiff side. The homemade caesar dressing was delicious, but they only coated the lettuce in it which resulted in a bit of a dry slider. I believe the sliders would benefit from a bit of the dressing at least on the bottom of the bun. I asked for (and received) a side of the dressing to bring home to dress up my remaining sliders. Lastly, and I know this is extremely minor, but the silverware was placed incorrectly (knife and fork reversed with the knife edge in the wrong direction). Again, I am WELL AWARE this is minor, but for me, sometimes the minor details are the things that stand out. Overall, a wonderful experience and will try them again at a later date.

We do notice two empty tables outside but understood that maybe they don't want to seat people and overwhelm the kitchen. After about 10 mins of waiting we're offered one of the tables that had been empty. (Which were outside). No menus given but we noticed the QR codes. Guy comes by and drops off cups w ice and a carat of water. Waiting... waiting.... Finally another server comes and asks if we'd like to order drinks. Yes, and our meals bc we've been sitting here for quite some time. We get our coffees and there's a lot of grinds at the bottom of the cups, server switches it out. We finally get our food and two of the three meals were not hot, not even warm. But we're hungry and eat but when the server checks in my sister says "honestly for as long as we waited we would've expected hotter food, these two (egg dishes) are cold." He apologizes and says he'll let the manager know. The manager, who I can only assume is Lisa (based on the responses I'm seeing here on Yelp) came out and said I hear the food is cold? And was very aggressive right off the bat. Saying everything comes right out of the kitchen and to the table, we don't have heat lamps. Offers to "reheat" the food (but how, the microwave?) we're already half way thru the dishes as we had waited a long time. My sister tried to express that after waiting for a table, service and grounds in the coffee that this was disappointing - the manager interjects w "well did you tell him did he give you a new one" She does NOT take criticism very well, she's abrasive and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. She then came out (after I assume finding out the whole story and how long we had been there) she said she would take the two items off the bill, which we weren't gunning for. As we just gave honest feedback when asked how everything was. We then noticed her come and check in on the other tables outside bc people who got there well after us also got their food at the same time... As much as I'd want to come back and try it again bc the promise is there. The manager was such a turn off, that I would be spending my money there, again.
