Wow, this was really good. Not just "I'm from Texas and this is pretty good Mexican food for NY." It's good straight up against other good Mexican restaurants in Austin. We said the first test was the chips and salsa. They didn't disappoint. The salsa wasn't super spicy but was very fresh and super flavorful and chips were great. Next up - the margaritas. The house on-the-rocks margs were excellent. Good balanced flavor, enough alcohol but not too strong, doesn't taste like a mix. Finally, the entrees. My daughter and wife got the mole poblano enchiladas. There were very good. The mole had a nice, rich flavor. The portions were large and they both had leftovers. I had the puerco adobado. It was amazing. A very light, slightly spicy red sauce and tender pork. So good! The fourth in our party got flautas, which were excellent and also a large portion. The rice and refried beans were also very good. The only item that wasn't amazing was the tres leches. It was good but not as moist as what we normally get. We ate it, of course. It just wasn't at the level of the rest of the food. We sat outside on the patio. It's right next to the road but also overlooks the creek and was very pleasant. The service was great. Very friendly and fast. The prices were reasonable. Knowing about Panchos & Gringos, we'll have no hesitation eating Mexican food when we're visiting our daughter in Peekskill. Ordered takeout one semi late night after a tea dance with the boys at the pool. I saw on their online ordering that they have family deals so we opted for that. For about $35 you get 3 quesadillas, 3 tacos, 3 burritos, 3 chimichangas and it comes w rice, beans, salsa and chips. Very good drinks at this local spot near my families home. The place recently opened and it is just getting started. They are located in a pretty isolated area but there are many NYC people living out in these woods. I expect this place to pick up within a few months once people realize what's nice spot it is for a few drinks and some apps. The service was excellent and the people were very friendly. I would have given them 5 stars for the service and the great drinks. However the sauce they served was quite flavorless. It needed some more seasoning and some heat. First time trying here as we wanted to check out the karaoke on a Friday night. Was confusing trying to figure out where to park. We saw some people outside and asked them and they said to park in the lot across the street. We checked with the owner of the liquor store in the lot and asked if we could park there and he said no problem. We found a table in the center of the restaurant right near the DJ. We ordered our drinks and received them fairly quickly. I ordered a pina colada - huge glass but it was not very thick and it was over-blended for my taste. Great chips and great tasting salsa but it was too watery. Hubby and I both ordered the combination plate with the burrito, chimichanga and quesadilla. The best thing on the plate was the chicken chimichanga. The beef burrito had lettuce in it and there was way too much - hubby said his lettuce was brown and wilted. The cheese quesadilla was a bit over done and too crunchy. The guacamole on the plate had too much lettuce underneath it. We ordered some dessert - I had the flan which was good - hubby had ice cream and it was a large order. Our server was nice and asked often if we needed anything. Took a while for her to clear the table for whatever reason. The karaoke was fun - the DJ was great. All in all may come here again in the future. read more

I keep trying to occasionally visit here just because its local, near my home and I'd prefer there be a business in there rather than the space sit vacant for eons--like every other space in Putnam Valley. I can't do it anymore though! Between the loud local drunks at the bar (dare I say the patrons too?), the snotty and impatient waitress who is part of the ownership family, or the incredibly sloooow service (when you're the ONLY person there!) doesn't have to be accepted. It's beautiful inside and the staff is great. The complimentary salsa seems very fresh and the chips very crispy. My husband got chicken and shrimp fajitas and I got the mole poblano. I made the mistake of being on the fence of getting fajitas and watching his sizzling fajitas come out, so I regretted my order but mine was pretty good too, though I definitely stole some bites and was jealous of his. Took pics of the menu so will be prepared next time, hope they thrive as there is so little in the area and it's a nice place. This new place is staffed and owned by some very nice people. I really hope they do well in the area, and I know there's going to be some growing pains being a new restaurant in a spot that's been through many changes. I think the prices are reasonable and the menu had some great options. (Spelling errors were cute and they left the drinks off the menu but I'm sure this is a learning experience for them!) Food is ok, I'm hoping it will improve in time and I will try them again in the future. I had a dish with three enchiladas and unfortunately my food wasn't hot enough so the cheese didn't melt which seemed a bit odd, but I took most of it home. Will definitely reheat it to the proper temperature. I'm guessing it will be better when it's served hot. Drinks were good and the decor is beautiful, so I really hope the other issues are resolved and they do well on the future read more

I'm sure that this family business has growing pains like many businesses but the problems I had with my food were just stupid, poorly cooked food, disgusting brown wilted lettuce in my burrito, spoiled flavor and my waitress pretty much ignored us the entire night. Getting a drink or a refill took forever. I would have spent so much more money that night had she cared about her job and took our drink order. It was more important for her to talk non stop with the other staff than do her job.. ahh youth why is it wasted so often. The place could be a little cleaner as there was food on the floor everywhere like if they just had a bus load of kids come in. At the very end just before closing the waitress that ignored us all night made a half hearted attempt to sweep the floor. But you could tell she didn't care as she missed so much of the food and dirt and moved on. Parking well there is no parking, they don't tell you where to park and I'd normally just leave because parking next store is good until it's not and your car gets towed. When I asked wait staff was it safe to park near the liquor store they said I don't know, I then asked where should I park that I won't get a ticket or towed and was told again I don't know. However her face said I just don't care. It's a shame this place has potential and a great karaoke DJ on some nights. I'll give it another try and hope to see it improve. read more

We had a very disappointing visit to this new restaurant. It's understandable that a new restaurant may have some kinks to work out and should be given the benefit of the doubt, but this place seems to be a wreck. It was just my wife and I and we waited about 45 minutes for our entrees (chicken chimichangas and the poblano salad). The waitress told us there was an issue with the computer system and that's why it was taking so long. I know we're in 2019 but I was not aware that restaurant computers actually cook the food. While we were waiting, the waitress offered us drinks on the house. This was a nice gesture, however my wife is 7 months pregnant so she just asked for her water to be refilled. It was never refilled. Also, we had asked for some paper napkins. The waitress said they didn't have any, they only had cloth napkins. I've never been anywhere that serves food and drink that didn't provide paper napkins on request. When the food arrived, they brought my wife enchiladas. We told them that was wrong and a few minutes later they returned with the salad that she had ordered, sort of. The salad was supposed to have avocado, black beans, roasted corn, and jalapeño. All the salad consisted of was some mixed greens, a very meager amount of black beans, a few onions, about 3 sliced cherry tomatoes and some sliced tortilla strips. The salad was also supposed to be served with a "lemon vinaigrette" on the side which was literally mayonnaise that someone squeezed some lemon juice in to. My chicken chimichanga was very bland, hardly came with any sauce, and as stated in previous reviews, the chicken did not taste like it was of good quality. The one additional star is for good guacamole, even though it costs $12 and they only use one avocado. The complimentary salsa was also fresh. We will not be back, but hope they can turn it around and have some pride in the food they serve. At this rate it likely will suffer the same fate as the previous restaurants that occupied this location. read more

Average at best. Both had Fajita - my steak was ok, little extra moist, but ok. The meat to peppers/onions etc. ratio was not good. They also do not give Rice, beans, or cheese with the Fajita. Wife had the pork fajita which was disappointing. Served with silver dollar sized cuts of pork (was expecting shredded or strips) which would have been ok except many were 100% Fat, and many (most?) others were 75% fat. Not good. I would give them zero stars if I could. Hubby and I decided to order takeout from here last night. Noticed right away that the re-fried beans were too salty. They really tasted like they had been salted twice by accident. Unfortunately they were in or came with most of the food we ordered but I just figured the chef/cook had an off night. The rest of the food was okay, nothing memorable... until both my husband and I woke up with stomach aches in the middle of the night. I kid you not we each went to the bathroom at least 7-8 times today. They either used bad meat or didn't clean their hands or something. I have not had such violent food poisoning in years. Please avoid this place at all costs. I hope they get a visit from the health inspector soon because something is not right. PLEASE DON'T EAT HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH!!! Authentic, my foot. Did you ever eat Mexican food in San Diego? This is just a nonsense place. Save yourself some money and go to Taco Bell. I ordered it on Grubhub. The food came two hours late. Taco was soggy. No lettuce, tomato, sour cream or cheese. The pork was like the worst cut of meat. No flavor. Once before I got the salad that was supposed to have black beans and roasted corn. There were like three beans and five kernels of corn. The place is pathetic. They don't even use garnishes. They are about serving the cheapest junk they can get away with serving. They don't even include chips and salsa with your order. That's how desperate they appear to be about cheesing on the ingredients. I called them and complained. The woman was like "Oh well..." Far as I'm concerned, this location is a jinx anyway. No restaurant ever lasts there. So oh well...another one bites the dust read more

This is a brand new restaurant in small town in a spot that over the years has been many many different restaurants. None that did very well. Went with a group of ladies. We started with margaritas which were very good. Then shared two appetizers fried avocado and taquitos. Both were really tasty. My entree a combo of chicken burritos chicken taco and cheese enchiladas was ok. A little bland. One of the ladies in our group ordered one of the salads. It was supposed to have black beans corn and avocado in the salad. When it cameos had a couple of pieces of avocado and several black beans and no corn When we asked the waitress about it she had no knowledge of what was supposed to be in the salad and needed to read the menu. When she asked the manager or the chef they said they ran out of corn! Didn't offer a substitute or didn't offer another entree choice. We did enjoy the churro's that we ordered for dessert. I do think since it's a new restaurant and they were hoping to encourage customers it would have been nice if they offered to take the dessert off the bill. We spend over $200. The service was good but a little overbearing at times. Restaurant was decorated nicely and very clean. Parking is awful! There are a couple of spots right in front of the restaurant.
