    Colorful cocktails for starters.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice outdoor rooftop experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not that the views were that amazing, but at least it is fresh air and unique.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Went for restaurant week three course prefix $45 was a nice deal. Service was terrific and the food was good. Drinks were pricey... $370 for four of us. Calamari was good and plentiful. Salmon was well cooked, but skimpy on the wasabi aioli and chocolate cake was excellent. I'd recommend it for a nice occasion place.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]My friend and I did a walk-in for restaurant week and decided to sit on the patio to enjoy the scenic view and the beautiful weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took a while before anyone came over, but we did get some bread and dipping oil while we waited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To be fair, it looked like we came during the dinner rush.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We asked for the restaurant week menu and waited a little longer before finally putting in our drink and food orders. I ordered the Tequila Blossom, which honestly just tasted like orange juice... nothing special. It also got warm over the course of the meal, so I asked for a cup of ice. The Summer Beet Salad was a solid starter and a generous portion. The flavors were a good balance of acidic and bitter, but after a few bites it started to feel repetitive. The Steak Frites were pretty straightforward. The green beans were slightly overcooked, the fries were crisp, and the steak was cooked how I asked. It didn't really stand out, but it got the job done . The velvety chocolate cake was the highlight. I almost wish there were more than just one blackberry on the plate, but it did help me finish off that orange juice cocktail. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dinner felt a bit long overall, but I was in great company and the evening was beautiful--so I can't complain too much[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For the restaurant week price, it was a great dinner and a fantastic way to enjoy the sunset .

Food/Drinks: Both times I've visited, I got the salmon, and it's consistently amazing, crispy, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite spots for it. The drinks are also great, delicious and well-balanced with a good amount of alcohol. Location: [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is definitely a go-to for a special night out. The ambiance is romantic and classy with dim lighting, a stylish decor, and even a light-up backdrop for great photo ops.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The views are beautiful and make the experience even better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: Service has been excellent both times. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome without ever rushing us.. even on Valentine's Day. 10/10 recommend !

Mare is a class act. Seven of us went on Mother's Day - a day that has historically been filled with disappointing food and service. This year changed my opinion of what I could expect when you take the time to pick the right establishment. From the moment we arrived, the Team was pleasant, inviting, and made for an incredibly easy going experience that every good mother deserves. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Being inside a glass rooftop, I'd imagine that it isn't the easiest place to manage temperature-wise, but it was very comfortable and I noticed Team members opening or closing the large folding glass panels to allow for more or less airflow as was appropriate based on the weather - just a small thing I noticed that could make a big difference if managed improperly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Manager, Katherine, was excellent, and checked on us throughout our experience to make sure everything was going smoothly. Jack, our waiter, was on top of things the whole time, punctual with drinks and food, courteous, and very amicable. We were never rushed, our whole visit had a very natural flow, and the food was second to none. Appetizers were excellent - Margherita Pizza, Charcuterie Board, and the Meatball Arancini. For lunch, a few of us got the Seafood Mozambique, one the Blackened Salmon, another the Frutti di Mare, and I got the Steak Frites. Although the steak was excellent, I won't lie - the Mozambique looked outstanding and I wish I would have tried it. That means I'll just have to go back soon haha. There were rave reviews and not a single complaint about the food or anything else, for that matter; being Mother's Day especially, that is a badge to wear proudly, as it isn't easy to accomplish. We look forward to returning together as a family, and I look forward to many more experiences here myself. Thank you to everyone at Mare Rooftop who made Mother's Day 2026 a day for the books!

Had the most delicious dinner/apps here the other night & this is my go to spot for date night/girls night etc. so need to share some of my favs. - lobster bisque 10/10 I actually cried real tears when the seasonal menu changed and this was no longer available. - burrata salad 8/10 tastes amazing but wish there were more greens. - cheese board (no meat option) 8/10 really good cheese options (but feel like there should be larger portions of them) love the spread options, but need to get rid of the pickled veggies. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Feel like this is a great time to try Mare if you haven't gone before their menu is so yummy right now they also have the fun igloos outside to dine in![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We had a nice dinner. Our server-in-training took excellent care of us and did a fantastic job, with Aaron guiding her along the way. The roasted chicken and gluten-free Bolognese were both average and my bourbon smash was outstanding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was very nice, still early, before sunset, but you can tell it would have a whole different energy at night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was surprisingly quiet for 7 PM on a Saturday, which is a shame because this place really has a lot to offer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth a visit.

Three of us (two mothers) went for a Mother's Day early dinner. I have always liked the design and ambiance of this place. The current chef does a good job. I was glad to see the restaurant full of a variety of people. We ordered three different drinks - a mimosa, Bombay Sapphire and a Chianti. To eat we shared shishito peppers - quite good. Other dishes were a lobster bisque, a Caesar salad, pasta puttanesca (tasty but a little too salty), a herb encrusted cod and the special the halibut (somewhat a surprise at an expensive $60). None of us had any room left for dessert but I did end with an espresso. The check came to over $205 for the three of us without a tip.our server, Jadyn, was pleasant and attentive in spite of the busy situation. Almost worth it for a special occasion! Dining here during the day when one can take advantage of the rooftop views is better than eating at night.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fantastic venue. We booked the Mare Rooftop for a 50th birthday celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only was the semi- private space the perfect way to surprise our guest of honor, but it comfortably accommodated a party of 25.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Simplistic but elegantly decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And the food was incredible - everyone complimented their dishes - sirloin cooked to perfection, pan seared chicken, and a salmon to die for. A delectable selection of desserts, too! But what made the night was the staff. Catherine and her team were attentive, kind, and friendly. It was exactly why we chose to host our event here. Through and through , start to finish, the planning was a breeze. Communication was seamless. I highly recommend The Mare for parties or a dinner with family or friends. You won't be disappointed.

I went back again, no surprise, and it was awesome as always. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't options for specials because those are usually what I end up ordering. I will say the crowd here has changed a bit. Not a terrible thing but just felt a bit different. The food was amazing though and so was the service.

We were looking for an outside dining venue close to our hiking destination, and Mare had come highly recommended. Mare occupies the rooftop of a modern apartment building, near Wayland Square in the historic area on the East Side of Providence. There are some great places to hike and walk in the area, including Blackstone Boulevard. We didn't have reservations, but it was early for dinner (or perhaps it was a really late lunch) and we were promptly seated. I noticed a sign at the front desk stating that no baseball caps were allowed. I thought this was a joke, as there was no mention about any other aspect of attire, meaning I could wear slippers and pajamas as long as I wasn't donning a baseball cap? Once seated we decided to order: Scallops & Polenta $36 Lobster Panzanella Salad $24 The scallops were fresh and tender, seared and tasty, though I thought a couple were too seared for my liking. The polenta was delicious, creamy and rich without being too heavy. Overall I'd be happy to order this dish again. The lobster salad was also good, though a little heavy handed on the dressing, resulting in soggy croutons. It was a light and refreshing dish, appropriate for dining outside on this hot summer day. We had hoped to dine outside, but all the shaded tables were taken and they don't use umbrellas here, so we opted to eat inside. It was very quiet, so few tables were taken inside, and the glass ceiling was high providing an open and breezy atmosphere. Service was prompt, and our waitress checked on our table several times. We really liked the upscale vibe here. That said, if you're planning to dine before dark, and don't want the sun blaring in your face, remember to break out your fedora or full-circle brim sun hat, as baseball caps are not allowed!

I ended up going alone this time, but I came back with enough leftovers and commentary to share that the whole experience could easily be pieced together in anyone's head pretty clearly. The first thing that stands out is the setup. It's casual in the best possible way. Nothing pretentious, nothing overworked. You walk up, order, wait a bit, and then suddenly you've got seafood in a paper tray that somehow tastes like summer even when you're wedged into a busy city block instead of sitting by the water. There's a kind of controlled chaos to it, especially during peak hours, but it moves. I went with the absolute classics without hesitation: a fried fish sandwich and a side of fries, plus a lobster roll that, frankly, looked like it was built for someone who doesn't believe in restraint. The fish sandwich was the standout. Crisp coating, flaky inside, not greasy in that heavy way that ruins a good fry. The bun held together without collapsing into mush, which is always a small victory in a city seafood spot. The fries were solid, nothing revolutionary, but they did their job without trying to steal attention from the main event. The lobster roll was more of a classic Rhode Island style than anything over-complicated. Generous chunks, lightly dressed, and not drowned in filler. It leaned into freshness rather than gimmicks, which is exactly what you want when you're this close to the water. It didn't feel like it was trying to reinvent anything, just execute the basics well enough that you stop thinking about it and just eat. What I like about places like this is that they don't overpromise. Dune Brothers isn't trying to be a white-tablecloth seafood restaurant, and it doesn't need to be. It's quick, it's reliable, and it feels like it belongs in downtown.

First of all, the restaurant itself is small but very cute, cozy, and full of lovely New England-y Sea-Themed decor. We were promptly seated and had our order taken for our drinks & food - I had heard good things about this place, so I got a decent amount of food items, including: Lobster Roll - Arguably the best lobster roll I've ever had so far in my life. The brioche bun for it was soooo fluffy, soft, and a perfect complement to the big, juicy chunks of lobster that were seasoned and buttered JUST right. Also came with hefty and well-seasoned fries. New England Clam Chowder - Came with salted pork and potatoes in addition to the quahog clams. It was deliciously creamy and soothing to slurp on and the chunks within were all so tender and a great contrast. Clam Cakes - Added them to the Clam Chowder order for an extra $8. Big, hefty, doughy balls that were perfectly fried outside and ooey gooey within. Fish & Chips - Big, hefty fish that was juicy & delicious with a great crunch on the outside! Similarly came with the 'chips', or the hefty, well-seasoned fries that the lobster roll also came with. Oh yeah, pardon me, forgetting to mention the drinks! We ordered the Briny Martini and the Harbor House Punch! The Martini was great for a stronger drink and the Punch was a nice cocktail for anyone preferring something sweeter and fruitier. When it came to the food, service, and dining experience...it couldn't have been better! Everything was incredibly delicious and definitely worth ordering. This memorable experience then reached exceptional circumstances, however, as while we were in the middle of dining here and enjoying our delicious food, there was a shooting occurring just up the street at Brown University. I wish to commend the staff at Dune Brothers, who looked out for mine and their other patrons' safety and sheltering us in their restaurant as we all nervously waited for more information on what exactly was going on that evening. Only reason I'm giving 1 star still is because the waitress was very nice and what happens in the kitchen is not her fault! I think her name is (Katy?) I can't remember exactly but she was super nice! We got there for 11:30 reservation. Waited 15 minutes before we were seated which I didn't love already because there's no waiting area and nowhere to sit where the restaurant is so you have to stand around waiting for the table. Well by the time we left there I finally understood why we had to wait another 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. We ordered our food and drinks and got our drinks fairly quick but the food took way too long considering that it's breakfast items and they didn't have that many tables to begin with even including inside dining. Our pancakes took almost 40 minutes to come out and our sides never even came out with the pancakes which I thought was weird. The sides didn't come out for another almost 15 minutes. By the time everything was out my son was getting fussy so I just asked for everything to be packed up to go. The high chair was also dirty and oily with food still on the sides and not cleaned at all. I was talking to the family that sat next to us because the waiter who brought out their food messed up and brought their sides to another table dropped it off then found out the food was not at the right table and brought it straight to the right table after it's been sitting at the wrong table for a few minutes at that point! That family also said they waited a really long time for their food and their food didn't all come out at the same time either so it seems like this is normal. I also went to ask the hostess how much longer for our food before our pancakes came out few minutes later. She asked me how long it's been since I put in my order I said about 30 min already and she said oh that's sounds about right. So that just proves that food normally take this long to get out to the table! I'm used to way shorter wait times for breakfast foods this just didn't seem normal to me. Let's get to the food! I had the original pancakes with the blueberry and strawberry, got a side of scrambled eggs, sausages, and home fries. For drinks I got a fresh orange juice and my sister got the Dubai chocolate latte. The Dubai chocolate latte was delicious and so was the orange juice but definitely over priced for the portion size, but I guess it's acceptable being federal hill prices for most people? Personally I thought it was way overpriced not just the drinks but everything considering the proportions. The pancakes were ok didn't taste as eggy as I expected being that it's supposed to be more egg based which is totally fine the texture was good. The strawberries on top I thought were going to be fresh strawberries but it seems like it's more of a compote. The scrambled eggs were a little too charred for my liking I've never really had scrambled eggs charred before. Potatoes were ok for the most part in terms of flavor but my sister had some that were still kinda undercooked and hard. The sausages were really flavorful. Overall I don't think we'll be returning or recommend this place for the breakfast at least. Way overpriced and not worth the hype.

Wow. If you're looking for a spot that has amazing food, beautiful art and design aspects, friendly…read moreservice, and plates to share, Aguardente is the place for you. A friend and I came in and put our names on the waitlist, waited for about 45 minutes at a bar down the street, and then had some of the most fulfilling tapas ever! We got a Prosciutto & Salpicao board, the Queijo de Cabra, and Frijol Dip. I also got a nice portuguese red wine that paired well with some of the cheese we received. We sat in a very sweet and cozy nook and enjoyed every minute! I will be back when it's warm out and the front patio is open!

My friend and I came here on Father's Day expecting it to be packed, which it was, but there were…read morestill a few tables available, both inside and outside. At their front patio, they had the World Cup game playing, but the back patio felt cozier so we opted for that. The inside though was a strong second since the lighting is very low, creating a cool and calm environment. Walking through the restaurant to get to our table made me realize that each table is unique, no two are decorated the same or have the same furniture. It was a hot day but the overhead mesh cover blocked out a lot of the sun. Our waitress made us feel very welcome from the start and told us about their drink and food specials. My friend ordered Guatemalan beer as well as a Spanish beer. For food, we ordered the plantain fries, octopus, calamari, and shrimp salad, and grilled lamp chops. The seafood salad came out first. According to the menu, it was going to be paired with cornbread. It looked like sourdough bread but had a far denser consistency. I was expecting the salad to have lots of shrimp to act as a filler but surprisingly, it was about 60% octopus, 25% calamari, 10% shrimp, and 5% onions. The seafood was very flavorful, tasted fresh, and cooked perfectly. The portion size was great for two. Next came the plantain fries, which I was least impressed with as it was essentially fried plantain chunks. I think it would have been better if they were cut into smaller pieces that can be easily dipped and consumed in one bite. The plantain was gently ripe, so just a little sweet and the dipping sauce was like a less sour sour cream. Lastly, the lamp chops came out and the presentation was wonderful. They were a bit skinnier and less tender than that I was expecting, but flavor wise they were good. We enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service here.
