This place was alright. The smog guy quickly noticed my check engine light was on and then didn't seem to pay much attention to the rest of my car. He jumped to conclusions, assuming the worst case scenario, which caused me a lot of anxiety. I later took the car to my mechanic, who said the issue wasn't that difficult to fix. Since the repairs are still in progress, I can't confirm if his suspicions were accurate, but his approach definitely left me feeling alarmed. I don't feel like I was overcharged since his smog check was $50, which is lower than the $60 or more charged by most other places. However, since this was my first time having a car smog-checked, I'm not sure if the lower price reflects the quality of the service. UPDATE This guy terrified me, claiming my car was beyond saving. The smog place next door apparently has more frills and a taco truck, but will cost you $18 more. If you only need smog test at the right price with convenient location, this is it. Awesome service here. I came to the AAA DMV to pay my car registration without my smog test. I had just changed the battery on my hybrid and expected to pass easily but the computer inside the car erased all my driving data. The inspector explained that I needed 15 cold starts before I could come back and pass. I did exactly that and returned on the day my registration was due. Lets see....I have been here about 4 times with 3 different vehicles in the past year. Every time I have passed smog with no problems. I never wait more than 5 mins before my vehicle starts to be tested. The gentleman working there is friendly and fast. I'm not sure if he's the owner, but I always see him there. It's located in an Arco parking lot right off Telegraph and the 805. There is a Von's shopping center right behind it. There is also a AAA in the same lot that gives a $10 off discount coupon for the smog. Awesome!! The only bad thing that I have noticed is there is no shaded waiting area.
