I came for a smog check Sunday morning, there aren't many smog places open on Sundays so I came across Tony's on Google and decided to head over. I got there around 10am and called the phone number given; a man named Mario said he would be right over (they normally open around 10/1030 on Sundays so call before you go to see when he'll be in). Mario did an amazing job and chatted with me throughout. He is such a kind man and the stories he shared with me somehow made a smog check the most special part of my day. Tony's now says "Anaya's Smog" so it's a little confusing. The location is within a strip mall with other stores around it. The address showing is correct, just look for the bay that says "Anaya's". There is a sign board in the parking lot pointing to "Tony's Smog". I smogged here last time, and still the same great service. I called ahead to be sure he wasn't busy. When I got there another customer was waiting. Service is fast and there's a place to sit. Not swanky, but not overly expensive either. He was great with the other guy, who had not passed the first test. He checked the failed test results and the repairs done because he didn't want the customer to have another fail. I felt the mechanic really outdid himself caring for his customers and had good information for people having trouble passing. I had a couple things going on... and asked: will the 4" crack in my lower windshield throw me out? (No) Will the light on for the tail light throw me out? (No). So it's a relief to get some information before the test is run. He was juggling 2 people at once and when I got done (passed) he gave me $5 off because I had to wait longer! That is a first. Just back from having the smog test on a 20 yr old van. Passed in less than 10 minutes. This is the 3rd time i've used Tony's going back to when they were on Main St. in C.V. Always a pleasant experience and better rate if your vehicle is 2000 or more recent than 1999 or older. I arrived at 8:30 am and the tech didn't make it in until after 9am but i had faith and the fellows at the other shops said sometimes they open later... Just adding this note in case you are an early bird like me and want to be 1st up.. Could be a wait so be prepared or come in at 9:00 or 9:30. These are good people, locally owned family operated with at least one other location in El Cajon. I trust them and their work and look forward to seeing them every couple of years. The reviews caught my eye and I decided to call ahead. I was told by Mario that no appointment was needed and it was 1st come, 1st served. Upon arrival, I was asked for the keys and registration renewal and he immediately started testing my car. 10-15 minutes later, he happily presents me the paperwork, tells me that it passed and even compliments how healthy is sounds. Took my 1995 Mercedes SL320 in yesterday and was extremely happy with the service at Tony's. Other test stations that I called said they couldn't smog my model vehicle. I think because the spark plug wiring is under a protective cover that can't be removed without taking apart the air intake assembly. Adrian knew just what to do. He attached the pick up coil next to the diagnostic port and we were good to go. I will be taking my vehicles to Tony's from now on and highly recommend to anyone needing smog certification. read more
