I own 2 TFO Fly Rods and love them! My "travel" favorite is a 5 weight, 9 foot 4 piece rod which I ordered as a combo with case and a slick Ross reel. It is a Lefty Kreh Healing Waters series which was not only a great performing setup but was far less than comparable combos. One selling point is the warranty. $25 will replace a broken rod section. I learned all about that this week. My last time out my rod tip section got caught in some riparian underbrush and I snapped it. This week I was near TFO and decided to drop by with it on the off chance they could fix me up. They did! I paid the $25 & the replacement tip section was provided that was exact in color, fit and design to the original-except unbroken. Not only did they cheerfully replace my broken rod section, they also gave me a cool dark Olive TFO cap. I got to pick it among several colors. I've been buying TFOrods since the 1990s. I have purchased over 40 rods. I chose this company solely because of their excellent customer service and warranty policies. Recently, I had a legacy two handed rod brake mid cast, at the junction between two of the sections. This was captured on a GoPro. Sent it in for warranty replacement. The customer service department told me that it is my fault that the rod broke because I "did not seat the two sections together correctly". I have used the repair service and warranty service more times than I can count in the past 30+ years. I am very disappointed in the decline in their customer service lately. This was a proving point to me that their company has made a decline in recent management and warranty policies. As a result, there is no longer a reason for me to buy rods from them. I will be choosing a company that is willing to honor their warranty. read more

Six months ago, I met the president of TFO at a fly fishing event. He was so informative about his company and invited me to come by for a tour of his company. This last Friday I took him up on his offer and he gave me a quick tour. What a fun, unpolished tour of the company! Rick, the president of TFO is so down to earth and into his products! I love the fact and was also pointed out that they do not put a great deal of money in to their building, or their work environment. They would rather try to save the end user / customer money in their products. You just have to love products that are top quality and the folks are trying to help save you money, while carrying and supporting top products! To note: Rick, he showed me the whole warehouse and different departments with being very open and honest. Could a fly fishing guy not fall in love with this company and their products! Once I had entered the front doors waiting for Rick, another guy opened the front door. He stated that he wanted a catalog, and he and his son had just returned from Colorado and for the last two weeks catching trout of different species with their new TFO fly rods! He was just grinning from ear to ear with his last family travel, heck who wouldn't! Loved seeing the measuring board for show the different bends of the fly rods with different weights! A person could see very quickly the different arc's with the rods. Another highlight was checking out the warranty area! If part of a rod was busted for some reason, they could just replace the one part and ship it back to you pretty quickly! I was even shown Edge rods and the Alps reel seats which looked fantastic and well designed! Rick had also pointed out some of the small details where their equipment stood apart, like the use of less threading to help make the rod even lighter! I have 5 tfo rods. One fly and FOUR of the traveler rods-2 spinning and 2 baitcast. I travel a lot. After my girlfriend ordered me another rod that was hopefully going to make it before our next trip (birthday present) I realized it prob wasn't gonna arrive before our trip so bought one 45 min away,(not TFO's fault) to get one guaranteed for the trip, the Traveler rods have treated me well mostly...In a nutshell the rod that I had in "warranty" status was sent back to me after I missed one call and one email, (on vacation). The reel seat was destroyed (it was tight) therefore warranty I'd think. When I tried to return the rod my girlfriend got me (brand new), they said I have tried to get refunds on rods that were "obviously" used in the past. Basically shunned me as I was a dishonest person trying to get a refund on a used product I was told there were hook marks on the hook ring but I wouldn't be able to see them in the pictures they sent. Boo TFO. I will start using the G.Loomis travel rods because they don't question my integrity!! Literally the lady on the phone relayed a message that stated: "the guys in the back said you've tried to get refunds on used stuff in the past". I'm a boat captain and an avid traveler and by golly they lost my attention. Tried to make a long story short, I don't do reviews unless I'm praising customer service. This one got me though! I've been fishing with a Temple Fork rod for years now. The Deer Creek is a nice two-handed rod design. The design and implementation on these sticks has taken the concept to the next level: designed to allow a variety of options, both single and two handed casting. The main purpose of the rod, the switch, is to allow the fisher's ability to maximize the distance of with the smallest amount of effort. They are extremely lightweight, durable, with superb performance. It lives up to its claim of "Totally efficient delivery tools." They've got some good rods for beginners too. I put one of their intro rods into my wife's hands and she was casting within half an hour. Their build is perfect and you can't beat the price for what you're getting. The lifetime warranty on their rods is another plus. I like a company that stands by it's product. read more

Use to be my favorite rods to use till I had to experience their customer service. Sadly, now I need to find a new favorite rod with a company that has good customer service. They claim to have a no fault warranty, but after you pay their fees and shipping the replacement ends up more then buying a new rod! - To continue after they reached out because I gave them a bad review, I get the pleasure of speaking with the founder for the 2nd time (1st time i did not realize it was the founder). I've realized that issues with company always start at the top. His comments where " I've given your hours out of my day." The guy seriously spend 15m on the phone with me, and offered nothing in response to the situation. He did state that he did not swear at me or use any profanity, in which he actually did the day before. Not directed to me but in conversation (which was a little unprofessional). Odd thing is why would he need to state that, shouldn't that just be how they handle all their customers? However they have now updated their no fault warranty to include that not only will it cost the $40 for the replacement rod but will also cost over $30 for shipping to have the rod returned. So that is one positive step. Unfortunately it is not a company I would support. They realized that they have misrepresented something incorrectly, but will not take ownership and offer any solution to the customer that they misrepresented it to. I would have simply been satisfied with shipping it to me for free. $30, or $15 if they took it down to USPS and shipped it instead of using Fedex. read more

I purchased a 7 foot spin casting rod from my local tackle store one year ago. I normally fish for trout and red fish. Recently I caught and landed a 40lbs drum. While I was reeling in the rod broke at the first eye and certainly startled me. I was told by my local tackle store that the $170 rod came with a lifetime warranty. So I looked up TEMPLE's address and for $51 UPS sent the broken rod to Temple. They said OH NO IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT THEREFORE NO WARRANTY. I have fished for over 60 years and have never had a rod break catching a fish. i will go back to Academy Sports and continue to buy their Allstar series. This warranty is WORTHLESS. read more

After doing a bunch of research, I ended up buying my first fly rod from Temple Fork. Used the rod 1 time and broke the tip. Completely my fault. Spoke with Chris from customer service, who was a complete gentlemen and went above and beyond to get my rod repaired under the warranty. Had me back on the water in a little over a week. I contacted TFO through the company I bought my rod from, Burfish.com. I quickly heard from the sales manager and he has promised to address my complaint. He said I was overcharged and they would fix my problem. We all know companies make mistakes, but TFO seems interested in resolving my complaint and they responded quickly. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS! I shipped two rods to TFO to get repaired. I also sent in a $60 check for the cost to repair the rods. One rod was sentimental to me because my father bought it for me as a gift. The other rod ran me $200 on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse. I shipped my rods via USPS (which I will NEVER do again). I made the mistake of only insuring the package for $50. TFO called me two weeks later and said they finally received the rod package, but there were no rods inside. So basically, someone working for USPS most likely stole my broken fly rods (lucky them huh?). I called TFO back and asked if I could speak with a manager to inquire about possibly re-purchasing the rods for cost price. Instead, the woman on the phone said I can pay the $60 repair fee over the phone, and they will send me two brand new replacement rods since mine most likely got stolen. I couldn't even believe the level of customer service I was provided. I went from being incredibly bummed about losing $350 in rods to feeling like I won the lottery. I purchased two TFO signature series rods from Bass Pro I didn't have them to long before the ceramic guides kept failing, Really liked the rods so I kept paying out and having them replaced, I have probably had at least 5 rings replaced between them, the originals really are poor quality guides. But now here lies the problem one of the rods broke usual place on most rods Apr 1 ft below the top ring, I called TFO about there replacement policy she said they no longer make the SWS 766-1 any longer but the warranty position is they will replace it with a similar one I just need to cut the serial and model section out of the rod and send it to them along with the fees of $35.00 warranty replacement charge + $20.00 for the return shipping add that to the $5.00 it costs to send the cut section of rod back You have now spent !!!!$60 .00 Hence now rod is in the trash My advice is to buy a star rod from a local tackle shop in my case Capt Robs Bait & tackle Cape Coral FL Its around the same price if it breaks they will replace it there and then or 2 days later if not in stock read more
