Best tour and the *best* tour guide! Tony our guide was insanely knowledgeable on everything from the vegetation to the history of the island to all the animals on maui, and literally everything in between. He stopped at countless waterfalls, local fruit stands, and trails for us to get off at take pictures, hike, and swim at. Our experience without him wouldn't have compared. He made our group feel welcome among the locals, gave us many options of stops we could make (such as all the different types of beaches: white sand, black sand, red sand) as well as informing us of all the things the island had to offer. He allowed us plenty of time at every stop, we never felt rushed. It was not the typical "touristy" feel you might get from something like that, but rather, (thanks to Tony and the beautiful area) it was highly personable, exciting, and an outing like nothing we had ever done!!! Road to Hana is beautiful. This tour service is not. Overpriced and the driver was a bore. All he wanted to talk about was himself and look at waterfalls. Lunch was just ok. My family and I, from the SF bay area, went on the Small Group Luxury Haleakala Sunrise Experience by Temptation Tours and it was fantastic. The sunrise itself was worth the early wake-up. What made it the best was our tour guide Scottie Ferguson. He was not just informative and funny, but thoughtful as well. It was about 30 degrees that morning before the sunrise and Scottie brought extra jackets, hats, and gloves for everyone. He was a lifesaver! He gave great tips for photos and was constantly looking out for us all. He offered us danishes, coffee, hot chocolate, juices, and water during the trip too. Great tour, great guide, and a spectacular sunrise. On our way back we had a good breakfast and were back at our hotel by 10am. Temptation Tours - Haleakala Sunrise If you are looking to experience a wonder of the world, this tour is for you. It's a must do if you have some free time in Maui. We did the Haleakala Sunrise Tour with Scott, who picked us up at our hotel in a comfortable van for 8 at 3am. He was a wealth of knowledge, and could answer any question you could have as well as wiling to share his personal story. His enthusiasm, even at 3am, truly made the experience special for my family. "How great is this?!?" We arrived two hours prior to sunrise, which seemed excessive at the time, but got us the best 'seats' behind the Haleakala Visitor Center. The time prior to the sunrise was spent identifying the stars and moving satellites. Truly amazing to see. He will help you take great photographs and help you capture the sun in your hand. After the sunrise, Scott drove us to the Kula Lodge for breakfast. Another beautiful view, but we had a fixed menu and the service was average. Scott went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of despite the lack of attention for our waitress. After breakfast, definitely take a walking tour with Scott of the restaurant grounds as that man knows every flower in the garden!! He is particularly skilled at finding chameleons. I have taken to road to Hana twice before going again last week. The first time in 1988 when I drove and the second on a tour twenty years later. I have no recollection of the sights on the first occasion other than staring at the twists in the road and the second trip was a mediocre sprint to the end of the line and back. I just want to say how outstanding this whole operation is. First of all, Scottie Ferguson is a class act tour guide. Very personable, and isn't fake like some tour guides are. From the get go he greeted us in the parking lot and took care of us. Very knowledgeable of landmarks and history of the island. Glenda, our helicopter pilot, was also top notch. The aircraft was clean, air conditioned, and amazingly the ride was very smooth. I highly recommend the Hana sky trek. While it is not cheap by any means, it is worth every penny. read more

My husband and I came to Maui for a short stay, and we decided the drive to Hana would be a good way to see a sampling of the island's beauty. After some reading, I booked a Temptation Tours "Premium Hana Picnic." The tour is a little pricey, but it is so worth it! Our guide, Gayle, picked us up in front of our hotel at the exact time promised. We climbed into a cool van with plush captain's seats and windows all around. The day flew by, the drive was absolutely beautiful; and Gayle told us all about the plants, history, current political situation, and economics of each area we passed through. It was fascinating and breathtaking. We had a delicious continental breakfast and a yummy picnic lunch. At the end of the day, when we told Gayle that we enjoyed snorkeling, she gave us directions to a spot that we never saw in any guidebooks. Even though there was a small parking lot, no one else was there, and we saw so many turtles! We only had five days on Maui, so spending a whole day on one activity seemed a little risky, but we are so glad we did! We did the helicopter/luxury van tour to Hana, we flew up and drove down. Our pilot Rick was great, he pointed out a variety things as flew to Hana airport. Once we landed, we met our driver Gary. He was just as wonderful. Turns out we grew up in the same city, just a few decades apart. It was nice being able to share stories of our youth, it truly is a small world. He was great driving down that tiny winding road (I would've been scared to death to drive that myself). We got to see black sand beaches and beautiful waterfalls. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend to do this tour! read more

We took a helicopter tour to Hana, and a comfortable van on the way back. We can't imagine a more perfect day. We flew over the volcano crater, the Jurassic fields falls, and gulches, and landed to meet Scott for lunch. A tablecloth on a picnic table was not a fine dining experience, but lunch was picturesque and tasty. Our many hour trip back was in Scott's van. We stopped a few times to have our pictures taken (by Scott) and honestly after a while, one waterfall looks a lot like the others. Scott knew when and where to slow down to allow us to take pictures from the van. He seated us so that the front seat of the helicopter had back seat in the van. He positioned us for pictures and panoramas that were outstanding, told us what beach to find the sea turtles (up close(), and his favorite place for fish dinner. We went back the next day. Outstanding experience, and Scott's a great guide. The trip was not cheap, but neither is anything on Maui. Can't imagine a more perfect day or tour. read more

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and a few days ago we booked the road to Hana luxury tour with temptation tours. The customer service before we even started our trip was excellent with a courtesy call the day before informing you exactly what time your driver would arrive at your resort, what attire you should wear and what else to bring. When our driver arrived promptly at his scheduled time of 7:20 things were off to a good start. We were offered water or juice before getting into the van which would seat eight in the very comfortable captains chairs though our tour only had six making it that much more comfortable. Our driver Paul was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He remembered everyone's name through the entire tour and would refer to us by name which was a personal touch you don't get on most tours. We learned about more than I ever thought we would on our drive to Hana and back. How he retains this information and professes it so clearly is impressive. We stopped for breakfast at a casual breakfast cafe in Paia which was awesome and had a menu to please anyone, lunch was in Hana at the former Hotel Hana again a restaurant to please anyone. The stops we made were well timed and beautiful and I would highly suggest this trip to anyone. Not having to worry about watching the road and instead getting to fully enjoy the scenery around you is well worth it in the comfort of the temptation tours vans. read more

We did the Hana-Sky trek tour (Helicopter and van tour) and it was definitely worth it! It was my first time in a helicopter and the views were amazing. Luckily I got to sit in front (you are assigned seats to evenly distribute the weight on the helicopter). We got to see the haleakala crater and all the greenery on the mountain. And then we flew over Hana, which is a nice peaceful town just surrounded by awesome views of nature. We saw all kinds of waterfalls and flew over the ocean! Simply breathtaking! Mike is an awesome pilot! He knew his stuff and he got us really nice views! Then we did the road to Hana part with Gary, who really knew his plants and trees as well as drove smoothly through all the 617 curves and 54 bridges (thanks again to Gary for that piece of info). Gary made us feel like family, he watched our stuff and took our pictures during the swim in the waterfall. It was a good thing we did this tour, because I don't know if I could do that road to Hana drive on my own. read more

We just got back from our road to Hana experience and wow it was such a great time. We had Jimmy who was a true delight. He gave us plenty of time at each stop, gave us plenty of time to get our phones ready for picture opportunities and had some much knowledge of the area and Hawaii as a whole. Absolutely loved every second. Food was great as well. Breakfast and lunch was excellent as well. As someone who gets very motion sick I recommend getting some Sea-bands. This was my first time using and felt great the whole time or maybe Jimmy's drive was just so smooth( jimmy also had some candies to help with sickness) Jimmy was also great at getting the group to interact together and I enjoyed my whole group and it didn't feel forced or weird. Marty was also there training. He was very nice. If you are are not sure if you should do this or not, Do It! I would suggest some water shoes the waterfall and black sand beach have soooo many rocks. Also a change of clothes if you want to go swimming, I wore my suit under my clothes but there were plenty of places to change. Will definitely do again. read more

Booked a sunrise tour after a friend recommended it - couldn't have been happier we went with Temptation Tours. Scotty was awesome! Not only did we see a beautiful sunrise, Scotty showed us different constellations, planets and satellites while we waited in the dark, gave us an awesome history of Hawaii, took pictures of us, and had us in the best spot to view the sunrise. After breakfast he walked us through the garden at the restaurant and named all the various plants - it was beautiful! If you're lucky to get Scotty as your guide, you won't be disappointed. read more

We took the Hana Sky Trek tour with Temptation Tours and had a great time. We heard about a tour of helicopter and land through our concierge, and after doing some research I found Temptation. I had a great experience with them from the moment I called to make reservations. We are a party of 4 and we wanted to see Haleakala and Hana but did not want to spend 2 days making both trips so this was perfect for us. We took the morning tour so we left by van about 7:30am and returned by helicopter about 1:30pm. We had the rest of the day to relax, which was nice. This is the perfect trip if you want convenience... the van was very comfortable, you don't have to drive it yourself, and you make just enough stops to see the beauty of Hana. There was a total of 6 of us in the van so it was quite comfortable. If you're an adventurous, hiker, swimmer, want to see everything type then this isn't for you. This company goes as far as Hana and then takes you back the same way you came if you do a land only tour. I have heard of other companies that take you ALL the way around Hana, but it's about 11 hours. The stops we made were at a beach, along the highway for photo opportunities, a waterfall and pool to swim, and eventually in Hana for lunch with other little stops along the way. Honestly, lunch was okay, but we didn't take the tour for an elaborate lunch. I would advise to bring a few snacks if you like to munch, but they do stop for banana bread! After lunch you are taken to Hana airport for the helicopter portion of the ride. AWESOME!! It's amazing the things you see from up above. Our pilot was Thomas and he was very good at keeping the chopper steady and smooth and giving you the best views of all there was to see. Our driver, Kelly, was great! He had wonderful history and information about the island and answered all of our questions, but didn't talk too much. He kept a nice atmosphere in the van with his soft spoken voice and Hawaiian music playing on the radio. He's been doing this for 17 years and I highly recommend him!! All in all it was exactly what we wanted to do. We were not disappointed one bit and as I said before, this is for people who want to sit back and relax and do just enough. read more

We booked Temptation Tours for our trip up to Haleakala. Eric, our driver, was very pleasant and a book of knowledge. He told us the perfect spot to stand to get the perfect view of the sunrise. The van was very comfortable and clean and they provided drinks and pastries during the trip. My fiancé and I did the Hana Ultimate tour and found it to be amazing. The tour literally takes ALL day- like 11-12 hours (from where we were staying in Kapalua) so you definitely get your money's worth. The van was a very nice Ford E-series conversion van. Very comfortable, clean and felt very safe on the twisting, winding road to Hana. Our tour guide was Melany. She was just a joy to have as a tour guide. She was so unbelievably knowledgeable about everything from ancient Hawaiian folklore to the different types of foliage in the rain forest. She was very entertaining and very kind. She drove with caution but also with great confidence on the sometimes scary road to Hana. She definitely made us feel safe. She stopped us at different scenic places on the way including a black sand beach that was gorgeous and had really cool caves! She even tried to find sugarcane for me at different fruit stands along the road-although not successful, I appreciated the effort. We felt very lucky to have her as our tour guide. I must say that I was a little worried about getting carsick because that tends to afflict me on curvy mountain roads but I was completely fine. It was also raining most of the tour, which I thought would ruin the tour, but it didn't at all! It is the rainforest after all, a little rain never hurt anybody. Overall I would definitely recommend this tour and look forward to doing other tours on out next trip to Maui! read more

The Haleakala Sunrise Tour was amazing! Our tour guide Scotty was knowledgable and friendly. They pick you up early at your hotel around 3-330 am and it's about a 2 hour drive to the crater. The tour van was comfy and fits up to 9 passengers (very spacious!) Once you arrive at the crater (around 5am) be prepared to be cold. As I said... be prepared to be cold. Dress in warm comfy layers because the temperature could go down to 30 degrees and when we went (in February) it was also very windy. Scotty takes you to the best spot to watch the sunrise where you have to wait about 2 hours till sunrise. YES 2 hours. Being from San Diego I'm not a fan of cold/windy weather but luckily I wore layers, gloves and a scarf (bring a blanket too). Also, you just have to keep reminding yourself you paid all that money AND more importantly, the sunrise is WORTH IT. IF you can't handle the cold you can always wait in the van or stay in the visitor center. Just be advised you may not get the best view of the sunrise. After the sunrise you visit two other stops on the crater and you are provided either hot cocoa, coffee, juice and a danish. Then you head down to have breakfast at a cute restaurant/lodge place where there are also, a couple souvenier shops. Overall you get your moneys worth! read more

I took a Temptation Tour on 12/11/2014. It was a Road to Hana tour. My cruise ship the Grand Princess was in Lahaina that day so it was an all day tour. I was in a Ford van with 6 other passengers. Steve, our driver/guide was great. He was informative and knowledgeable throughout our tour in Maui. Doing over 50 one lane bridges and 600 turns on the Road to Hana is something I would prefer not to do. With Steve driving I was able to enjoy the beauty of the rainforest and the coastal views. We also had a nice picnic lunch at the beach in Hana. Plus, I took photos. read more

My boyfriend and I had just returned from Maui and we booked this company for two different tours: The Road to Hana and Cavern Tour and the Haleakala national park and Lavender Sojourn Tour. Both of the tours were excellent and top notch! Prior to these two tours -- my boyfriend and I were doing different activities every single day and finally having these two days where we can sit back, not worry about navigating or driving, RELAX and full enjoy the scenery TOGETHER was worth it! These two tours take up the whole day.. about 9-10 hours each tour. We were picked up from our hotel on time in the early AM and the Limo Van was VERY clean, cool, comfortable, spacious, and fit a total of 9 people (including the driver). I really love how they keep their groups small, which allows for some personalization of the tour. For example, my tour guide Michael had said -- "depending on how you guys feel..energy level and other factors, we can go to ______ because i know you'll love it" I also loved how stress free i felt about the time limits for each stop -- I constantly kept hearing the words "take your time", which is a HUGE plus and something i ABSOLUTELY love about this company. Who wants to be on TIME restraints when on vacation??! i surely dont! as for the guides-- I had Michael and Steve and they were both WONDERFUL! both were VERY knowledgeable about the customs, plants, food, history --everything Hawaiian! Steve was a little bit more quiet (which was not a bad thing) but I think it was because there was another 2 people in my group during steve's tour and I didn't ask too much questions. As for Michael's Tour ( Lavender Sojourn tour) --it was just me, my boyfriend, and Michael --and we both enjoy learning history and customs -- so we kept picking at Michael's brain (and he answered every single question, pretty impressive!) and there was a lot of talking with that tour. Overall the guides were excellent, kind, knowledgeable, articulate, and fun! and judging by the way they talk about Hawaii -- you can tell that they truly LOVE the hawaii and seem happy sharing the customs of the Hawaiians. I read that some guides kept repeating that the tips are how they guides get paid --however I did not experience that -- in fact steve mentioned it ONCE and Michael did not even mention anything about tips! Breakfast and Lunch are included in the price -- while you were enjoying the scenery, your guide will set up a cute picnic area with a table cloth, utensils, drinks, wraps, dessert. Your guide would tell you what you were eating/ what was on the menu -- much like a restaurant ! The lunch was quite excellent for a "picnic" style lunch -- my favorite was the ONO wrap (so good!) but they also have a chicken wrap --they also had some yummy pasta salad and brownies! Overall, If one of your days in muai you are tried from the physical activities you've done (snorkeling, hiking, rappelling down a waterfall) and need a change of pace from it---definitely check out temptation tours. You will get a relaxing, stress free tour of Maui, with amazing scenery and some insight to Hawaiian language, customs, plants, food, history! A little tip: Bring Soap (if you are germ-a-phobic like me) for the road to hana tour because bathroom stops had no soap in their bathrooms/port-a-potties (although steve did provide hand sanitizer)..You dont need soap for the lavendar sojourn tour because the stops had bathrooms that provided soap. read more

My husband and I booked the Luxury Haleakala Sunrise Tour and I am so glad we did! The tour is in a nice luxury van that seats 8, but somehow we got SUPER lucky and ended up having a completely private tour with Scotty. Lucky us! And also luckily, the day we picked was a beautifully clear and calm day on the summit. I highly recommend requesting Scotty, he was so affable and wow did he know a lot about the island. He was part tour guide, part historian, part astronomer, part botanist, part photographer! His breadth of knowledge was pretty incredible, but in the end we liked his personality above all. He let us have our freedom and space, but was never too far away and at points he took my phone to get incredible photos for us that I wouldn't have known how to get. He also had about a billion tips on how to use our cameras to the best advantage and helpfully pointed out the 5 planets in view that morning (Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and of course our own friendly little planet) and all the satellites floating above before the sun rose. When we arrived at the summit, he made sure to get us a prime position on the railing - not only a great spot to view the sunrise, but also shielded us from the wind. He also gave us an extra layer when the cold was getting to be too much and gave us hot cocoa and tea on the ride down the mountain. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Definitely dress warmly - I was wearing 7 layers on top and was still pretty cold (and this was on a calm weather day). We were picked up at our hotel in Lahaina at 3:30pm, Temptation was very good about reconfirming our pick up time with me the day before - when I didn't pick up my cell phone they made sure to call me in my room. It took us about an hour and a half to get to the top of the summit, and we waited for about an hour and a half before the sun actually rose. The time went by pretty quickly, Scotty kept us entertained by pointing our constellations and satellites. Once the sun rose, we stopped by the visitor center and then Scotty took us up to the top of the mountain where we could see a clear view of the observatories and the silversword plants. Scotty snapped a few pics of us at the elevation sign and then took us down to his favorite view point where we got an even better view of the crater. As we made our way down the mountainside, we stopped again at the Haleakala National Park sign to take another photo while Scotty called in our breakfast reservation at the Kula Lodge. Breakfast was pretty darn great (though there aren't many options on the menu) and we got a great view of the island while we ate. Then, we toured the gardens and stopped by the gift shops. It was an incredible experience and I recommend it highly. read more

Has a great time with Ted on the tour to Hana and the lava tube cave and tee tree maze. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to stop and what to see. Hana isn't much to see but the lava tube cave, black beach and many of the sites along the way are well worth it. The halfway to Hana banana nut bread is a must. Let somebody else do all the driving it is well worth it. read more

I took the Haleakala and Lavender Sojourn tour and I loved it. The tour van sits up to 8 people but we only had four. Gary was our driver and he was very funny and informative. The view at the top of Haleakala was beautiful. I must come back another time for the sunrise. We had tasty lunch at the lavender farm and then Gary took us around and showed us the beautiful flowers and trees. If you love gardens you must go to the lavender farm. We also went to Tedeski's Winery and tasted some wine but they weren't doing tours because it started to drizzle, but otherwise a very good tour. When I go back I think I'll do the Hana tour. read more

We had Surfer Sue as our tour guide! She was awesome!!! Very knowledgeable, patient and and took so many pictures of us for our memory's sake. The tour provided a light breakfast, lunch and drinks. We were able to stop at the street stands to pick up some snacks on the way ~ grilled pork/chicken, shaved ice, ice cream. We stopped off to take pictures and even take a dip in a waterfall pool. Of course, there was Hana Bay and the black sand beach stops too. The road to Hana is way cool, being with the right people makes it even better! Temptation Tours does it right. :) read more

Our Haleakala sunrise tour with Scotty was wonderful! Scotty is one of the most knowledgeable tour guides that we encountered during our trip to three of the Hawaiian Islands. He shared his knowledge of Maui and the Hawaiian Islands from the moment he picked us up at our hotel until the moment we returned. Scotty was a safe driver and navigated the tight curves on the road to the Haleakala summit with ease. Our tour consisted of two couples. Scotty pointed out the very best viewing spot and waiting alongside us for the sunrise, all the while pointing out the timing when we could expect the best colors to appear in the sky, pointing out constellations, and various aspects of the crater at the summit. We noticed that many of the drivers of the competitor tour groups wait inside their vans or buses and leave the tour members to fend for themselves on the mountain. Scotty was with us every step of the way. I'm not going to lie; it was cold at the summit. You should bring gloves, ear muffs, a hooded sweatshirt and many layers to have on underneath. The winds are strong at the summit, and it will feel like it is at the freezing mark. After the sunrise, Scotty took us to three additional spectacular view spots to view the summit, scenery, islands in the distance. Throughout the morning, he was able to share his knowledge and point out various plants and flowers that grow on the mountain and throughout Maui. We stopped at Kula Lodge for a delicious breakfast mid-morning and browsed a few shops in the area. This lodge is cozy, with a burning fireplace and delicious food options. Scotty helped to make our Haleakala sunrise experience a memorable one. He exceeded our expectations and we would not only recommend Temptation Tours to our friends and family, but would recommend that they request him as their guide. My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Maui, we booked temptation tours for a drive up to hana and helicopter back...it was nothing short of amazing! The van was modern, clean, and comfortable. Our guide Gary was OUTSTANDING!!! You can tell he loved his job and was very knowledgeable. He stopped in all the right places along the road and was super great about helping with pictures. Lunch was a fresh made and delicious. The helicopter ride back was awesome, we got to see amazing sights, and who wants to drive back down after a 4 hour drive up!
