It's really just a food store, but when I recently went there, I felt like I was back in Japan, which we visited recently. Mostly, or all, Japanese food products, pastries, and candy. I don't know where the plastic-contained food products are manufactured, but they appear fresh, and suggest that they taste good. This place is at least worth a visit. I intend to return soon. All I bought this time was a 5-pack of Yakult, a milk-based, probiotic drink that I like. Now I don't have to go all the way to 32nd St. and 6th Ave. just to get it. This is a convenient little market right in the heart of Ktown! I always stop by here now whenever I am visiting NYC. It's a good place for a quick grab and go selection of Japanese lunch or dinner selections including some onigiri as well. The downstairs area felt a little awkward because of the eating area and could use a little more improvement I think? I came here last Saturday at noon for their free bluefin tuna cutting show in NYC, where you could actually sample fresh tuna! The chef broke down a bluefin tuna flown straight from Nagasaki, Japan, weighing over 130 lbs. It was the freshest tuna I've tasted in a long time, totally reminding me of the one I had at Tokyo's Tsukiji Market. You could even buy fresh cuts of akami, chutoro, and otoro right after the show. I love getting sushi and sashimi from Hashi Market because they're always incredibly fresh. We got an assorted sashimi & sushi bento and a salmon ikura don, and the quality was on par with what you'd get at a restaurant. I bought Salmon Ikura Don ($15.99) and Assorted Sashimi and Sushi bento ($22.99) for lunch. So fresh and delicious. The fish was actually thickly sliced as well! Pretty large Japanese Market for Midtown, it's comparable to Fushimi Market in Flatiron or the Ten Ichi Mart location in Brooklyn, though with less food options to order and be prepped on location. They do however have a Fujissa Matcha stand within the store, which serves a variety of matcha drinks and matcha soft serve. Walking into the store, Fujissa is immediately to your right, then an aisle of chilled prepared foods for takeout--a variety of options: bento boxes, sushi/sashimi, onigiri, pre-made rice bowls, fruit&cteam sandos, takoyaki, hot dogs, small side dishes. To the right of that is the side of the aisle lined with chilled drinks. A good amount of sweets and desserts too. Walking to the back of the store, sections with fresh produce, meat and seafood fill up the back, and the middle of the store contains several aisles with canned, packaged, powdered, dried foods and drinks, basic ingredients, condiments and seasonings, snacks and candy, ramen and noodles. I love this place! Hashi Market is a great spot for Japanese food lovers. I tried their $20 sashimi fatty tuna and it was so good and fresh! The best tuna I've ever had. I visited Hashi Market again a few weeks ago since I was craving their spam musubi so I got that as well as their eel onigiri and strawberry sando. The spam musubi was cold this time around, so that was disappointing. It still tasted good though, I just think it would have tasted even better if it was warm. Their onigiri was honestly nothing special, I was kind of hoping there would be more sauce, it just tasted dry. And lastly, my favorite item that I bought that day was their strawberry sando! The cream was light and not too sweet, the strawberries were juicy, huge, and not overly sour, and the bread was soft! I definitely recommend. Isn't it odd that one walks in the City and doesn't see each and every store? A case in point is Hashi Market which is on Fifth Avenue for one year. A Korean supermarket where a large variety of fruits, vegetables, biscuits, lots of soft drinks and cold bottled coffees, sweets, ice creams, dumplings galore to name a few. After 8 pm, bento boxes, sushi m, sashimi and prepared foods are 30% off. As lunchtime was in full swing, I saw sushi and took the spicy tuna and avocado roll which was under $9. An elevator took me down where there was a small area of counter seating and condiments like soy sauce packets and chopsticks and I ate there. This lower ground floor area is home to lotions and potions and jewelry for young women. There were many items being delivered and employees placing them on shelves. I recently decided to check Hashi Market out on a weekday and was impressed by the selection of Japanese candies I often see on social media. The have vegetables that look really fresh as well and reasonably priced chips and prepackaged sushi. If you don't speak Japanese, I recommend using the Google Translate app and snapping photos of the packaging to get an idea of what you're looking at. I tried a bag of Noriyaki and some Cuddlefish puffy chips. The noriyaki was great but not my favorite as they got old fast and were a little too artificially sweet, but the puffy chips were easy to munch down on at work. I also picked up a bottle of Kewpie for $6! Less crowded that H-Mart, but still with a selection of treats from other Asian countries, this is a great alternative if you're looking for unique snacks or a quick bite for lunch. read more

My friend and I stopped by this past Friday night to grab a quick bite. Hashi Market is conveniently closed to where she lives, and it was opened late! They sell pre-made sushi here along with other Japanese goods and snacks. SALMON MAKI - 6.95 Each piece had a good salmon to rice ratio. The salmon had a deep orange color with lots of marbling. Each bite was fresh and tasty. MOCHI ICE CREAM - 1.59 The mochi skin was soft and chewy, and I thoroughly enjoyed the mango mochi ice cream! The strawberry one was also good. Downstairs, they have the beauty and skincare section. There's also a small area where you can enjoy the food, which is where we ate ours! We got a set of stick-on nails to try since there were so many pretty designs. However, the one I got (size XS) was much too small (even though the S size on display was too big), so I didn't have them on my nails for too long. The index and pinky nails were awkwardly long compared to the others. Overall, Hashi Market is great to have so close by. I would definitely stop by again. read more

A little skeptical... and hope perhaps it's an authentic Japanese market. They have a large variety of food - cooked bento boxes, onigiri, sushi, bowls, and fruits. Dry products (snacks. Chips, candies, gummies, drinks) imported from Japan but there are lots of stuff that's from other Asian countries as well. Also sells fresh produce. There's a little shop up front that offer matcha specialties. The lower level offers cute plushies and toys and a dining area. It's clean and spacious. For food - their onigiri was just "meh"... too much rice. I preferred the ones by HMart. Also had the egg sando - hard pass. It's not like 7/11 in Japan. In the new York and new jersey area, outside of Mitsuwa Japanese market, this is the one that has almost every categories of Japanese items you will need except alcohol . It is a much much smaller one compared to to Mitsuwa, but good enough for Manhattan. First floor they have fresh made soft serve ice cream, hot foods, and all necessary noodles, ready to eat food, snacks and limited fresh produce. Second floor, it's the cutie floor, there are adorable asian characters, make ups, plushies, chinaware, and more. Limited staff in the shop for stocking, cleaning, and register, but service were efficient and some of the staff are very friendly. Value, I cannot say it's the best, after comparing to Teso and some other Chinese owned market, the pricing over here is slight higher. Location, convenient, center of Manhattan. No parking. Now they do not have dairy free options so I was very sad but I still wanted to try it out and so glad I did. The matcha was very potent and the ice cream was smooth and rich. I stumbled upon this place while walking downtown. It's clean inside and has a good variety of Japanese snacks, sushi, and grab and go eats! I got spicy tuna avocado roll as a little snack ($8.70 with tax). It was pretty good and for almost $1 a roll, you can't beat the price. There's a downstairs area where there's makeup/skincare. A bunch of these shops have been opening up around the city. Making greater access to Japanese snacks and staples easy. This particular location has 2 floors. Groceries (fresh ,frozen , boxed etc ) are on the street level. There's a juice/drink shop as you enter. The hot foods/prepared cold foods are all packaged as to go items. So hot hot bar/buffet table. Downstairs on the lower level they have a small eating area ( counters and stools) where you can enjoy the foods you purchased on the first level. There are electrical outlets ( I keep saying phone chargers lol) . Another nice touch is the bag hooks under the counter ( for purse or grocery totes ). The lower level is also the area for the Japanese cosmetics and other beauty accessories. There's a cashier station downstairs as well. No bathroom though. Lots of staff on the floor to assist you with finding items . Service is friendly and helpful. I had the spicy tuna & avocado roll. It was good. All the foods there looked fresh and the display is clean and looks well maintained. I saw a worker going to every section of the case and taking temperature readings. I love that as Im very particular when it comes to seafood meats. This is a great spot to find your favorite snacks and essential ingredients or try some new foods. read more

Really clean and visually appealing new Japanese market that was fun to browse. I wanted an onigiri for lunch, and saw that there were several options to choose from... like smoked salmon, cod roe, and spicy tuna which is usually my favorite. With an apple sidra I thought I'd be set for a great lunch. When I got to the park to eat though, I was really annoyed to find that my onigiri had been wrapped all wrong- meaning some of the plastic was wrapped around the rice underneath the nori, and trying to take off the plastic just stripped the seaweed off with it. Also, the nori was completely dry, cracking on the edges around stiff room temperature rice. The tuna tasted too fishy as well, leading me to believe it wasn't fresh. I would've taken a picture but it was such a mess to open that I ended up having to throw it out. Overall I was really disappointed with the quality of the onigiri I bought, and if I come back I don't think I'll be getting any of their pre-made lunch options. read more

Might as well write a mini review for the spot though I was primarily here for Fujiissa ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/fujiissa-new-york ) within the same store. The menu said after ordering that it would take 10 minutes so I decided to explore. The prices overall seemed pretty reasonable all around with a good selection of drinks and snacks. They were a bit cheaper by comparison to Ten Inchi for some drinks while other drinks were more for instance (I would say Teso has the cheapest but their selection is definitely the tiniest.) They notably had a pretty good selection from Royce' which otherwise only has one other location next to Bryant Park since the Midtown East location closed with the Nama/truffle chocolates being actually slightly cheaper (might be more after tax) while the chocolate bars were more expensive) which I honestly don'tmind as the Nama is their best thing. They had some nice looking fruits in one section also with some of the fruits wrapped almost similar to some of the fancy Japanese stores. The prepared food looked fine with some decent prices and some pricey things. The sushi looked of pretty good quality (especially the sashimi) and was pretty pricey and they apparently are doing some tuna slicing demonstrations upcoming. I didn't check the 2nd floor as I only had 10-ish minutes and the main floor was quite big. Would stop again and it's welcome to see this store here as there aren't many Japanese stores nearby and they definitely could price things much higher due to the tourists as it's near Empire State Building and I'm happy they haven't. Stumbled upon this place while walking down 5th avenue and nothing gets me more excited than a Japanese market. The first thing I noticed was how clean and spotless this place is. Granted, it's a new location but everything is well stocked and organized, it makes you want to buy everything. Japanese/Asian packaging is just next level. Anyway, I didn't end up getting any of the freshly prepared food but I did get a iced matcha latte from the Fujissa booth and it was delicious! I'm not an avid matcha drinker and when I do drink matcha, it's usually the hot matcha. But this might be my next go-to iced cold beverage when it starts getting warmer in the city. As for the snacks, there's so much variety. Not only Japanese, but also Chinese, Taiwanese, and Korean snacks. I appreciate that they imported a lot of confectionary items from Hokkaido, where you typically find them on websites like Sugoi Mart or Say Weee. The frozen section also has so much offerings. When I first visited this market, I didn't realize there was a downstairs that was filled with beauty and toys so I came back a second time to visit the downstairs. I was quite impressed with all J-beauty brands they carry and the make-up brand "Canmake" seem to be their popular choice. Although I did notice there were a lot of repeat of items scattered across the aisles. Most importantly, they had plenty of testers, especially for the make-up aisle. First of all, they hire many undocumented immigrants or unlawful workers such as foreign national students, especially Chinese nationals from Fujian, who help in the B-level Kitchen. 2nd, their food safety issues. They have many Chinese soft drinks in the name of Japanese food. The last time I entered that store, a young lady handed me a small cup of green tea, and I got a stomachache after that. The Chinese man in the green tea section, aged around 40, is undocumented 3rd, one middle-aged Chinese man in glasses doesn't speak English.
