Purchased the item in the photo on July 24th, opened the cardboard package immediately prior to cooking them on July 25th to find the item as shown in the photo. Emailed Donald's customer service that same evening and as of August 1st have yet to get any response from Donald's. Be warned that Donald's sells products well beyond their best before date, check your packages carefully when shopping at Donald's.

This is probably one of the reasons when you are going along Hastings going Eastbound (driving) where there is considerable traffic, and this is probably one of the reasons! This place can be busy at any point of the day and for good reason, you may find a deal, if not that you are shopping for fresh produce to take home, one way or another, you'll find something here that you may want to take home. At the same time it is a weird store, as it feels like it's mashed up from 3 totally different stores at one time. The front is loaded up with fresh fruits and vegetables and certain sales, on the day we were there they showed two seperate strawberry sales, $2 for 2 small bins, while for the bigger organic bins which were more than double the size were $5, decisions, decisions. So we decided to walk in to see what else was in store, this place really has it all, from the far left side where there is a cooked 'take-out' section for Chinese food that I would usually see in the back of T&T, they have isles upon isles of dried and canned stuff, in the back, as usual, milk, and and isle for yogurt's and cheeses. I find the produce is clearly labelled, from organic to non-organic, the prices are very fair here, to sometimes cheap, they have deals on some over ripe stuff at times. I find they carry some very good bread, from a Bread Affair, to Terra Breads to Calabria, and from this I can tell you they carry good name brand goods of other products as well. Just know that at anytime, this place can be a zoo, you have been warned, as it feels like the whole neighbourhood comes out at certain 'prime-times' to shop, but if your wanting to stay away from the big box supermarket's, and still wanting to save some money but wanting some good groceries, you won't go wrong coming here.

Argh!!! I love this Donald's !! I find almost everything I need there. Plenty of gluten free items, lots of meals, snacks and treats. You just never feel like you're getting ripped off. Local produce, organics and just an overall great variety. Heck, there's even a loose leaf Tea shop in the front! http://www.donaldsmarket.com/tea.htm and a Chinese food take out counter, (which I cannot eat any of, boo-hoo for me.) Cons: It's a bit tight, so take your tolerance vitamin. Also, do NOT shop on Sunday late in the afternoon because just about everyone waits until the weekend is over to pick up what they need for the week. *Bonus* one of the managers is also gluten intolerant so you can be sure to find plenty of G-free merch.

Donald's Market has a fantastic produce selection!

For years and years and years, I would transit or drive past this store dismissing it as "just another Asian produce store." I finally went under my naturopath's recommendation as the store carried an assortment of gluten-free goodies. I went and, to my delight, I was impressed in so many ways! First, they have killer produce specials. My favorite is the cauliflower heads going for $3 if you buy two heads (one would cost $1.69); I bought only one because two would be too many but two would be ideal for a larger family. I also bought a bag of Japanese cucumbers (there had to be at least 14 in there) for $2.49. Second, the gluten-free vegan soups (Pacific Natural Foods brand) go for $3.49 at regular price, $2.99 on sale; about the same price as Whole Foods but without the longer commute. On the same gluten-free note, they are finally carrying Glutenall brands of bread, including my favorite Buckwheat loaf! Third, frequent flyer sales. Daiya cheese (vegan) would go for $4.99 at Superstore. On sale at Donald's, I got to try it for $3.49. In the store, they have a Chinese food takeout counter. Not for me, but if you are into that sort of thing go for it. I love the fact they have an in-store tea bar as well. I haven't patronized the tea bar yet but I will eventually.

Several locations in the lower mainland and each is very uniquely different. This location is very busy and I think the largest of the three. Great selection of produce and unique products you normally wouldn't find in a market this size, like Stevia soda. I'm a fan and if in the area I make sure to stop in.

Great prices on local produce

Very good place to get locally grown fruit and vegetables at really good prices. Like going to farmers markets without going to the farms. I love how it is set up so unliked the big box grocery stores. It is more like the Asian markets locally and like the vendors from my days living in Europe. Always stop here as part of several stops along E. Hastings to buy ingredients to complete our meals. I buy my western ingredients here. Chinese stores don't stock sweet basil or flat leaf parsley. Great location with easy access to free parking. Prices are not always cheapest nor veggies the best. But, that's the fun and joy of SHOPPING for fresh grocery.

I had heard about Donald's for awhile. Apparently one of the cashiers is kinda famous for remembering the names of all her customers - over 4,000 of them and counting. I don't know if I was in her lineup; they say hers is always the longest, and mine wasn't too bad. Donald's is much bigger than your average corner grocery. The produce section is wonderful, with local product clearly identified. They also have good bakery and meat aisles, and all the necessities you might need at the last minute. Given the neighbourhood, I wasn't surprised to see quite a few organic and specialty foods in the mix. And it wasn't all that expensive either, given good prices on produce and several in-store specials. This is the kind of neighbourhood market that whispers to me, "If you lived here, you could shop here all the time!"

Bonus star for accepting Amex, who would've thought in the hood... Just picked up the best cookies in Vancou ver across the street at Platform 7. And what better way to balance this out with juicy Driscoll raspberries for $4.95. DM is wider than it looks, and fresh all around. The meat is on the left, and coffee beans in aisle 13, last one far right, go figure. Even 49th Parallel is here, as well as 20 other brands: by far best selection for a neighbourhood. Good service with a real, abundant staff.

Everyone once in a while I get on these health kicks and I'm like totally good and healthy! Guess I was feeling that way this weekend, so I went to Donald's Market and stocked up on some fresh fruits and veggies for my latest juicing binge! Funny thing is the last time I came to Donald's market I gorged myself on 3 pieces of Church's Chicken before loading up on my fruits and veggies! Haha Ok... So I like Donald's Market. I think they bring in fresh fruits and veggies and they sell them for a low to reasonable price. The store is well organized and the staff is very task orientated. Donald's Market has a huge array of products... they even have a Chinese Food deli. When I'm in my health mode Donald's Market gets my business!!!

I used to buy chines food from take out counter. Now prices have gone up a lot. Food is often very greasy and over cooked.

It is a split opening. You either walk into IGA or Home Sense. The store is very small inside and almost a triangle/wedge shape, which made it difficult to navigate. The aisles are very narrow and very tall. I was overwhelmed by all the close proximity of things and people so basically cruised through then left. I had wanted to buy some chips but I am not sure if this particular store is expensive or that is just the price of things but I didn't find anything I wanted to buy. Lines were long and near the exit (which is already a long, narrow entrance). Upon entering the store there was a pop up tent out front of the store and someone was selling fresh fruits and vegetables. Not sure if they are an outside vendor or affiliated with the store. I assume that if I had gone to a store not in downtown it may have been larger, more spread out and less expensive. I assume that the aisles are tall and narrow as a space is at a premium and they are trying to fit the most amount of product in to cater to people.

Loblaws is on the second floor. The place is nice and clean. Lots of cooked food choices. Price and servings were reasonable. I ordered a quarter sized ribs with korean noodles as my side. Don't ask me why. I just did. Never heard that pairing before! But wish I ordered some potatoes or veggies instead! There were lots of sides to choose from. Can you believe this was $8? It's their $8 menu, available everyday. Can't go wrong with that! Took it to the self serve counter and paid for it. Then went around the back where they have plenty of tables to enjoy my lunch. There are microwaves to heat my order. The area is really clean. After my meal, went downstairs where they have plenty of places to sit, study, read, hangout. This place is great! They have a nice membership gym on the third floor as well! It's nice place downtown to hang out in! This place is modern and very spacious! I'll definitely come here often!

i stopped by hmart at the corner of robson and seymour, and it's one of those places that feels…read morelike it's doing a lot at once, but it works. it runs 9am to 10pm, 365 days a year, and you really get the sense of it being a hard working, always on kind of store. it spans two levels, with a main ground floor and an escalator up to the second floor, so it feels more like a compact vertical mall than a typical grocery stop. the ground floor leans heavily into kbeauty and lifestyle. there's makeup, skincare, fashion, luggage, and accessories, cuteness overload, all mixed together in a way that's easy to browse. the layout is compact (very downtown), but it adds to the energy. they've also got artbox items and a surprising amount of canadian souvenir goods, which gives it a slightly tourist friendly feel. interestingly, no bts merch in sight, maybe due to their hiatus? kpop music videos play on screens above us, full choreography and colour coordinated outfits adding constant movement while you browse. it makes even a quick stop feel a bit more alive. medicube on sale was tempting, and i'll probably look into it more later, mostly to justify whether i actually need it. one thing that stands out pretty quickly is how direct they are about shoplifting. for a store open every day of the year, you get the sense they've had to deal with it more than most. the signs with photos of shoplifters paired with police file numbers are very clear, and security is visible as soon as you enter. it takes a certain level of boldness to be that upfront about it, and instead of softening the message, they've chosen to address it head on. it shifts the tone, but it also makes their stance unmistakable. heading up the escalator to the second floor, the focus shifts to groceries. there's a small food court, along with housewares, a lottery kiosk, and everyday grocery staples, all tucked into the flow of the space. it's easy to lose a bit of time just moving between sections. from there, the snacks section does what it does best. they have hello kitty kikkoman soy sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, pouch drinks with separate ice cups, and a solid selection of ready to eat meals. on this visit, i ended up buying two new flavours of turtle chips: wagyu beef with wasabi and carbonara spicy chicken. priorities. they also have a stamp card system, collect ten stamps and you get a $25 hmart gift card, which feels like a quiet nudge that you'll probably be back anyway. overall, it's a high energy, well contained space: part grocery store, part beauty shop, part snack discovery zone, with a hardworking downtown rhythm and a very clear sense of how it runs.
