We went on one of the popular Nashville Whiskey Distilleries and Tours Nashville and the surrounding area are home to a vibrant whiskey scene, with options to suit every taste, we went with what is considered the father of whiskey. We went to Uncle Nearest Distillery. It honors the legacy of Nathan "Nearest" Green, the formerly enslaved man who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. It's located in Shelbyville, TN (also about a 1-hour drive from Nashville). They offer tours that tell Nearest Green's story and provide insights into the distillery's whiskey-making process. The Tennessee Whiskey Tour provided excellent transportation to and from the event. Melvin was our driver, he was fun, vibrant and full of informational. The van was comfortable and suitable for our group. There were 7 of us, so we had plenty of space to relax on the drive. Upon return to Nashville, Melvin drove us through Broadway and pointed out the hot spots on the strip. He offered and dropped everyone off at their desired location. The tour exceeded our expectations. Everything ran on time and the bus driver Frank was helpful and gave clear directions. The property is large and managed rhe hundreds of folks on site well. Tom, our driver, was very knowledgeable and professional. Trip was smooth, and while the ride was comfortable, the air conditioning couldn't keep up with the heat (so 4 stars) Jack Daniels tour was exceptional and the guide was terrific. Our driver was funny, kept everyone entertained while waiting for others to board. The tour itself was amazing & I wasn't bored at all. We had the 12:45 tour time, so there really wasn't a lot of time for shopping and eating before the tour. Had to choose one or the other. Which is why i gave it 4 stars. The other downfall was not being able to buy our picture, that was taken before the tour started, girl at the counter couldn't find it but it also didn't really seem like she was looking. A retake was offered but we didn't have time to wait bc our bus was leaving soon and we didn't want to get left behind lol. read more

Booked this tour through Marriott. It leaves by the Omni. Frank was the driver Chip was the story teller before leaving. You need to be on time. It takes 1 1/2 hours to get to Lynchburg. The ride can be a little rough on a bus. Frank was safe and super friendly. You can drink and eat on the bus. They do not tell you to wear comfortable shoes but you had better. You walk outside a lot. You will need an umbrella if it rains. Stay with your group during the tour. You will not have a lot of free time in town after the Distillery Tour. You may be able to hit one or two shops. Overall it was fun. read more

We booked this tour from Trip Advisor and it was okay. For $99, it included a charter bus back and forth to Lynchburg (about an hour and a half each way) and tickets for the whiskey tasting tour. The bus was a little late but was nice, air-conditioned, and had outlets and USB ports. I napped the whole ride! I wish they had told us in advance that the distillery only allowed VERY small purses inside, but they had free lockers. The bus driver also let me keep my suitcase in the storage on the bus, and someone stayed with the bus the whole time. Our driver and tour guide were friendly and funny. However, the tour seemed really disorganized. When we were almost to the distillery, the tour guide announced that we had different time slot options for our tour, and asked passengers to raise their hands for the time they wanted. He assigned the 2 large groups of 10 people to the tour they wanted first. We would have much rather done the first tour, then had the rest of the time open to hang out in Lynchburg Square and eat before the bus ride back, but the way he assigned groups was messy and confusing. Then he forgot which groups he assigned people to, and when we got to the ticket line, told us there weren't any slots in the last group (our second choice) left and we might be split up. I was about to raise hell..... we signed up for this to spend time together... but somehow, they got us into the same group. We paid just as much money for our tickets as the large groups did, and we should have an equal opportunity to choose our tour times without being split up. The tour company should really have guests choose their desired tour slots when they first purchased their tickets. The tour guide also recommended a bad restaurant to us... he talked about it during the whole bus ride... it was obvious they were his friends or give kickbacks for referring entire busloads of people. read more

Bad customer service over the phone. Called them to get availability for a tour out to the Jack Daniels Distillery for a bachelor party. Mentioned we had a group of 10-11 people and they each would be calling in to make payment, they said they prefer one payment in full, but didn't take it as a only option. I relayed the information to the group and one of the members in the bachelor party called to book a ticket for himself and the respond from the company wasn't great as they seem bothered by taking individual payments, that in reality it would be 2 to 3 people per transaction. Plus even it it was 10 or 11 individual transactions I dont get why it would be an issue. Anyways that service was unacceptable from my point of view being in the Customer Service field for many years. Booked our tour with another company that was a bit more money, that provided us a private link for payment, a private bus, and a tour guide. read more

Take a hard pass on this one. The distillery tour was great. The contracted bus driver, not so much. It's offensive to state Jack and Nearest had such a good relationship Jack never had to beat him. This is a very white- washed version of slavery. Jack Daniels owned slaves, period. No need to then paint him as a "good master". read more

One of the employees here has a seriously bad attitude that would get him fired at any other respectable place. It tainted an otherwise good experience. You can see some examples of that same attitude in his responses to other reviews on Google Maps. Before I booked, I called to ask about how the tour tickets worked (I had previously booked a tour through Jack Daniels and wondered if I needed to cancel or if they could knock down the price). No question was answered without a snide comment, and I eventually decided it was going nowhere, hung up and figured it out myself. The day of the tour, I recognized this same employee. The email directions for the pickup point could have been more clear, so I called to clarify. He basically told me I was incompetent and needed to follow the instructions they gave us. Then, on the bus, he told the entire group NOT to call him if they got lost in Lynchburg and went on to imply that they were idiots if they did. It doesn't matter if you think customer questions are annoying - you can't treat people like that. Grow up and have some patience or it will catch up to you in customer reviews. read more

If I could give this business ZERO stars, I would. I contacted Chip in October of 2020 to book a private whiskey tour for my husband's 40th birthday trip to Nashville. In the initial stages of planning we had a group of 20. Knowing that travel wasn't happening until February of 2021 and expecting cancellations from people choosing to not join us, Chip assured me the final number was flexible. Apparently I should have asked what his definition of flexible was. Chip was timely in his responses right up until I booked and paid 50% of the total...then it was a nose dive into possibly the worst customer service I've ever had. I emailed Chip a full 2.5 weeks before our date to request final amount due and also to notify him of our final count. No response. One week prior to departure I called. No response. Texted. No response. Submitted a online inquest stating the above and that I'd like some information regarding our upcoming reservation. Finally received an abrupt and extremely rude email response basically chastising me for my repeated attempts at contact. I told Chip that our number had reduced to 12 people and again asked what the final payment would be. He then told me that our final count was too far from our initial count and that he needed to maximize the bookings, but he would somehow make it work. But still didn't tell me what the final payment would be. The worst part came a couple days later when the winter storm Viola caused our flights to be cancelled and we could not rebook without arriving in Nashville several days past our original date. I had booked hotels, dinners, a cake and balloon delivery that were all so kind and understanding when I informed them our trip had been cancelled. All except Chip. Over the next day or so, I received several unprofessional emails from Chip informing me that no money would be refunded and again chastising me for not rebooking flights. Bottom line is Chip is extremely difficult to work with and to get any solid information or response in a timely manner. When we are able to make the trip to Nashville I most certainly will not be using this company. read more

I waited to leave a review in hopes Chip would reply to our email, but after 2 months of "I'm working on a thoughtful reply," he never did. I'll try to keep this short but a lot went wrong. We booked this tour to avoid drinking and driving, but with how little whiskey we received we could've driven just fine. There was nothing special about this tour, no private tours (we were combined with other people), no special info from our driver, plus our last tasting was at a FREE TASTING ROOM for moonshine, no less! After doing the math of how much each tasting would've been, lunch (which we had to buy ourselves), and gas. It would've been so much cheaper, and safer, to book each tasting and travel on our own. We basically paid for a useless shuttle service. I tried reaching out to Chip, the owner, the next day. I outlined everything that went wrong. I received an acknowledgment of acceptance. In late October I followed up letting him know I was disheartened I hadn't heard back, and received another "I still intend to give you a thoughtful reply..."Don't make the same mistake I did; what a waste of $200+. read more

Safety concern! We were excited to take the Jack and Back tour (Memorial Weekend 2019)! Our driver was really friendly and loved the country music he played. However, once we were situated on the bus, I noticed that the emergency window, which I sat next to, had a missing lever. That made me weary and I started to look around. The bus seats 20+ passengers and the driver never went over emergency exits, which made me wonder if other knobs for the exits were working. I brought my "Sea Bands" for motion sickness thank goodness! The bus had poor suspension and felt like it would crack in half. I would have been so sick if I didn't have this on. The air conditioning didn't work well at all and made the return trip miserable!!! It was so hot and everyone was sweating! Couldn't wait to get off the bus. The tour of Jack Daniels was awesome and the barbecue at the Barrel House was out of sight! Best I've ever had and still crave it!! I would recommend taking a different tour or renting a driver. read more

I found this tour before heading out on vacation. DO IT. They pick you up downtown Nashville, drive you to Lynchburg (bring your own booze for the drive), while in Lynchburg you can tour the JD distillery, eat lunch, shop, etc. after all that they drive you back. The entire was we got cool fun facts from Chip our driver and he was seriously the nicest human I encountered in Nashville. He also owns Craft Brewed off Franklin Pike. CHECK IT OUT. read more
