It's the perfect quick escape -- close enough…read moreto civilization for convenience, yet far enough to leave the hustle and bustle of traffic and city life behind. Right now the cherry blossoms are in full, breathtaking bloom, turning parts of the park into a dreamy pink wonderland. The wildlife is thriving too: squirrels galore that are so bold they'll walk right up to your feet if you sit still and stay calm. On warmer days I've spotted rattlesnakes scurrying across the trails, so I always recommend staying in the middle of the paths as a safety precaution. From the main entrance at Colima Road, you can choose the paved walkway or head straight for the dirt trails depending on your mood. I usually make my way toward the horse stables and equestrian area -- watching the horses get fed or running around their enclosures is one of my favorite parts. Just be mindful of the occasional big mounds of horse droppings on the trails; it's a small price to pay for the beauty. The park is generally very clean, with plenty of trash cans scattered throughout. There are numerous benches, picnic areas, fire pits perfect for groups, a children's playground, and even a seasonal creek with several charming wooden bridges crossing directly over it (though the water is pretty dry now that the rainy season is over). You'll also notice signs posted along the trails warning about bobcats and mountain lions. I've been coming here regularly for six months and haven't heard or seen any myself, but I've seen quite a few hikers carrying pepper spray as a precaution. Just be safe out there. Weekends get busy with families celebrating birthdays and enjoying the outdoors, but it's all part of the lively atmosphere. For dog lovers, there are two fantastic off-leash dog parks right near the front entrance -- one for large dogs and one for medium/small dogs. Outside of those areas, dogs must be on leash per the signs. The hilltop trails offer absolutely stunning panoramic views that make every visit worthwhile. My only heads-up: the park is officially closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (per LA County rules), but a lot of locals park across the street at the nearby mall and walk in through the gates anyway. If you're in the Rowland Heights/Hacienda Heights area and looking for a beautiful regional park with trails, nature, horses, cherry blossoms, and those lovely wooden bridges over the creek, I highly recommend Schabarum. Just bring water, wear good shoes, keep an eye out for those snakes in the summer, and stay aware on the trails! 5/5 -- I'll definitely be back soon.

This…read morepark has a decent walking trail but I will preface it with 1) the majority is dirt or concrete 2) many people don't seem to pick up after their dogs so you will see dog poop in certain areas. I am always on the hunt for a park with a good walking trail as I have been spoiled with padded tracked parks. One loop is about 0.6 miles. The park also has a community center for classes and renting meeting rooms, along with several tennis courts. There is a small playground area on the upper level. Parking is plentiful. Overall, I will come back again if in the area.

She was out of breath but needed the exercise badly including me. This way I can spend some time with her and look at what God created for us. There is a diamond up here to play softball, a picnic area and throughout the walking path there are little exercise areas to additional things. Down below they have tennis courts and basketball courts and other buildings for group and community activities. Lots of shaded areas to bring your pups for walks. Beware there are rattlesnakes and coyotes that you may come across but leave them be and you'll survive. Don't feed the coyotes because they'll come back to the area for food where you're not there and potentially prey on other unsuspecting peeps.

It's still a decent place to live but the influx of random people who have no respect for our community is just terrible. Sure it's dog friendly, but people don't pick up after their pets. Our section of the community has dog shit on all the grassy areas. You can count the number of dog bins and baggies on one hand. Ever since the influx of college students renting, there's trash everywhere. People leave their trash bags out in the open or leave them three feet away from the bin, there are beer bottles, fast-food packages, and all sorts of junk on the road at times. We've been asking for recycling bins or areas to drop off recyclables, still nothing. The pool area and the jacuzzi are the worst at times. They are locked after 10 or 11 but people jump the fence and are in there at all hours. If you're thinking about hopping in the jacuzzi, better get some shots or Prep first, you don't know what you're gonna catch. This complex has so much potential, but it's like people don't give a crap anymore. To give a point of reference, my family has lived here since 1999. So, if people think it's decent NOW, then you're being cheated out on what it could STILL BE.

The location is quiet, large, has plenty of green grass, shade and tables. A large playground area with a smaller and larger playground. I see many come and just have there lunch, then leave. The play areas are clean and well kept. The restrooms on the other hand can be better maintained. The female restrooms knobs on all the stalls are broken. One of the stalls can't be closed. I'm sure they clean it because it smells clean. The only soap dispenser in the restroom is broken as well. I suggest you bring wet wipes because there is no soap. I've only been to this park in the evening and there are always people around. It can get packed on the weekends as games and classes are held there. If you plan on coming on the weekend, come early to find parking. Overall, I like this park because it keeps my kids busy, its clean, and they love it; but the restrooms just needs to be fixed.
