I was here in the end of July when we were going to Harbin. Young lady was very nice and we enjoyed their food except for the shrimp cocktail was little bit too sweet (a lot of fresh shrimp ) Last night I went again after visiting Harbin and we ate tasty fish taco and split pork burrito and very satisfied!! Delicious Family Home recipes, always friendly staff, the owners are Wonderful People of Faith, the Sandwiches are one of my favorite as well as their Fajitas, they have a different name for them but oh so good and you can't go wrong with the cheese or shredded chicken enchiladas, their salsas are delicious and addictive. I went in for a late lunch on an off day. The waitress was helpful in choosing a tasty burrito. Lunch also came with chips and salsa. The chips weren't made in house but I believe the salsa was. Salsa was fairly smooth texture with chunks of onion and cilantro. The burrito "The Cubano" was huge and I had to take half of it home. The flavors were a great mixture of smoked peppers and beef. This place is pretty good. My street tacos were lacking flavor but the quality of the food was noticable. My soup was good but not packed with flavor, maybe had just been made and had not melded yet. The chips and salsa we're fresh and very tasty. My husband got the pibil tacos which were fantastic! The sweet and then sour of the marinade hit the pallet in all the right places at just the right time. The picked onions were delish and the black beans were very flavorful. I'm sorry to say that tonight will be our last visit. From when they opened with that amazing Molcajete dish to the amazing and flavorful meals that were different than anything we had ever had, to the now flavorless meat and bland sauces. I'm sad. The staff and owner are great but the food is just lacking any imagination anymore. Burritos full of rice and hardly any meat, red sauce enchiladas that tastes like watered down tomato soup. Tried this place last night for the first time. I got a burrito which no joke was bigger than my forearm and DELICIOUS for a great price. definitely go up 1 more dollar for the large, it's worth it! I also had their shrimp cocktail which comes with chips and avocado in a sweet sauce. The avocado was perfect and it came with a good portion of shrimp. One of the only restaurants you can have dinner at in Middletown. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. Being in Middletown for several months I found several favorites. The Chili Verde was one, the Verde was delicious, the pork was tenders and very good. It came with black beans and a pyramid of rice with tortillas. I also tried the Enchiladas Suiza with the green sauce another winner. Finally I also had their version of fajitas, I had the pastor. It had chunky of pineapple and mushrooms with bell pepper & onions too. All three were delicious and will be missed since I am no longer in Middletown. read more

I have had to wait 2 hours for food. Last time I went only half the meal was there, and the fish tacos stank like old fish. Not open weekends, Isn't that when restaurants make their money? Any other Mexican restaurant would be a better choice! read more

Why give this place a 5-star review? Because whenever I drive by, I question whether or not I'm hungry, because I want to go to eat there. The food is delicious. Fresh, good food. Fresh salsa. I haven't yet had their margaritas, but the food is top notch. They also have outdoor seating if the weather is cooperative. The service is friendly and professional. I so badly want to give them five stars because the burrito I just got from them was huge. The problem is that it was I think the most bland, tasteless burrito I've ever had in my life. It was basically rice, beans, and boiled meat. I think there may have been some onions in there but not noticeable. I thought the large burrito was supposed to have sour cream and other vegetables, but I guess not. The woman at the counter was very sweet and so this is not intended to be an attack on them, I would just hope that they would read this and Reconsider how they construct their burritos. It needs flavor, badly. Vegetables, sour cream, salsa, just more stuff other than rice and beans. It was an enormous burrito so I definitely appreciate the portion size. But the taste itself was just too boring. Maybe sometime when I am going through Middletown again I will try again and see if they have taken this advice. I would say to make it a little smaller but work on making it taste much more rich and flavorful. The menu says it is supposed to have sour cream and salsa. I would say that mine was 40% rice, 40% beans, 19% meat, and 1% onions. That is all. It is in a very convenient location and it was clean and bright, so it definitely was not a dumpy establishment. read more

La Parrilla is worth a visit even if you have to drive 45 minutes out of your way to go there. As an urban diner who has sampled some of the best Mexican food in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara, I went here expecting to say "good for a small town." I can't say that because this was some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The Pechuga Alambres was wonderful, and I would have recommended it highly had I not also tried the Zipolte. The Zipolte was mind-blowing. It was like a 5-star beach vacation in my mouth. I may have to join Zipolte eaters anonymous as I developed a full scale addiction after the first bite. I have been to almost all the Mexican restaurants in lake county....then my husband tells me about this place his tried with his father. He ranted and raved so we took the whole family. Greeted by who I assumed to be the owner, very friendly woman. Anyway, the food is AHMAZING. Best burritos i have had in the county. And I've lived here for 6+ years. Can't wait to go back and try more items on the menu! The margarita was so so, but I don't rate a place on the drinks, I'm there for la comida!! My 3 year old twins, loved their taco, beans and rice.
