Coworkers and I decided to meet up for lunch after switching from office life to permanent work from home life. We had gotten close in the office and now we're kinda distant. I was the only one to order a drink-drink and I got the Watermelonrita, basically a watermelon margarita with a tajin rim. I should've known that it would be huge and a bit strong but I didn't care. I was with friends and we were having a good time. I paced myself with water until the food came out which was pretty darn quick. I got a Crazy Popeye (Grilled chicken mixed with mushrooms and spinach. Topped with cheese sauce. Served with rice, beans, and tortillas). I really wanted some enchiladas but fajitas sounded lighter and better. This was really delicious and I and I took the leftovers home. Our server was great with checking on us and making sure we had enough water. Thought it was pretty cool that they filled our glasses with pottery. We'll be back, because our old boss is retiring and wanted to have his coworker farewell here. read more

Really good Mexican food, with huge servings and decent prices. And I love that the food comes out steaming hot. I do wish they had a more extensive non alcoholic drink menu. But their vibe is definitely more of a bar, so I get why they're more focused on those drinks. They seem to have a lot of good deals on bogo margaritas, etc. And their free chips and salsa are really good too! read more

I'm a salsa guy first, I like it spicy and chunky. It was neither. I asked for spicy sauce, and was brought some. It was spicy, but I wasn't wild about the flavor. I had a Mexican Grilled Chicken taco on corn tortillas and I had a taco salad with shredded chicken. The taco was good with cilantro and onion. Nice and full. I'd been happy if I'd had two tacos. The Taco Salad, not so much. I'd probably try the ground beef next time. The waitress was nice and friendly. Others looked like they were enjoying themselves and their margaritas. read more

Late dinner to-go and got the Taquitos combo with beans and rice for less than $10 and it was good as I paired it with cerveza. Service was fast when I called in the order and was out of there before they closed at 9:30 PM. There are lot of cool artwork of Mexican women and this place looks like a chill spot for Happy Hour. We hadn't been here in a good while and decided to try it again. We were promptly greeted and seated. We had two servers. One brought the menus, chips & salsa, drinks and took our order. The other brought our food. The burrito was excellent and a very great size. The American Street tacos were great in chicken, but unfortunately the carne asada wasn't. The steak tasted off and it was super tough. Our server never brought the guacamole, but it wasn't on the bill either. The decor is Mexican, but a little toned down from some. The food was delicious best Mexican I have had in Jacksonville, the wait staff was very friendly and welcoming and were constantly checking on and refilling out drinks. The restaurant is nice for being in a strip mall, there are TVs hanging up so they can keep children and adults entertained. read more

I met up for an alumni chapter meeting at Tequila's Mexican restaurant. This was my first time. I enjoy the chips and salsa as well as the queso my friend ordered while we waited for dinner. Which did take a while to come out. I ordered two specialty tacos, shrimp with avocado and chicken and mushroom. Both were yummy! But my favorite was the shrimp with avocado, so much flavor! I also ordered the tres leches which was okay. I probably wouldn't order it again. When I checked in on Yelp I was offered a free tequila shot. I asked the server about it and he said he would get back to me. The manager explained they didn't offer/make the premade batch of tequila shots until the weekend. But he came to the table and offered all of us a tequila shot which he did with us. Very nice touch! I'll be back to explore more of the menu! read more

We decided to give this place another try after hearing about the changes, and I'm glad we did. First off, everyone was friendly and attentive - especially our wonderful server. The chips were hot and fresh, and the salsa was good. We were also happy that a classic queso blanco was back on the menu and enjoyed it. Our entrees were huge! My spouse thought the carne asada he ordered was really good and actually ate most of the steak as we were there, although it could have easily been split into two servings, I think. And I liked my chiles rellenos! It tasted fresh and not soggy at all, which I've encountered elsewhere). We both liked our drinks, too. My husband enjoyed the mojito so much that he ordered two. I loved my aguachile margarita and appreciated that it had a bit of a spicy kick to it. It was a generous serving, too. The only criticism I have is that the booths are super squished -- neither my husband nor I had much breathing room. I'd request a table with a chair next time and hope that maybe they take one booth out to make things more comfortable along the side of the restaurant. It was pricey -- for three alcoholic drinks, two entrées, and one queso, the total came to $95 before tax. So, this won't be my "cheap and filling" spot, but it will be a place I return to. read more

Lunch time and happy hour. It was not crowded. We were immediately seated and were given menus to select our drinks. They have $3, $5 and $7 happy hour drinks. I got the large margarita. My tacos were hot and delicious. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. They were so delicious no sauce was needed. The restroom was nice and clean. It looks like a bathroom at someone home. We stopped in here for lunch on a Sunday and were some of the first people to arrive. We were greeted right away with chips and salsa. We added on an order of Queso and snacked away while we decided what we wanted. I ended up going with the chile rellenos and added the add on which was a lovely skirt steak. I filled up a little too much on chips so I took one to go but it heated up nicely at home. The beans and rice were the only lackluster aspect but I'm neither here nor there on eating those so it wasn't a big loss to me. My husband ordered a salad and taco and he thoroughly enjoyed both. It's super cute decor and very inviting. I'd like to come back to try some traditional tacos as well. So far we're fans! read more

We hit up Tequilas for taco Tuesday and honestly I think they have some of the best tacos around. The meat and seasoning is excellent. I love the birria, al pastor, or shrimp tacos. My husband went a little adventurous by asking for a recommendation or maybe a surprise for his dish. I'm not sure lol but he got the most spicy dish I have ever seen him eat ever . Don't be like him but do try out their new menu! Very good service. They were so sweet in even bringing some orange slices for our little one. We had to try the tres leches cake. I enjoyed it with the chocolate shavings. I can tell they are very open to feedback and want to have customers in so I hope they are successful and that people give them a shot. The manager brought over shots of tequila and me and my mom couldn't do it so my husband had ours. We had no idea taco Tuesday would be so eventful. The food was okay has birria pizza it was okay had 2 tacos the American beef has way too much condiments made it fall apart and the other too much avocado took away from the actual taco. FIRST OF ALL- Tequila's has happy hour every day, so that's already a huge win in my book! There is ample seating at the bar and tables. I love the bright colors and decorations inside! For happy hour, I ordered the sangria and hubby ordered the house margarita. I was very happy when the bartender informed me that I can get a tajin rim on my glass, as not many places offer this as an option. We also ordered guac to share while looking over their ginormous menu. Appetizers are also included in the happy hour specials, which is amazing! The guac was very fresh and I loved how the tortilla chips had seasoning on them. The sangria and margarita were a little sweet, but that's to be expected for a happy hour drink. I later ordered one of their specialty margaritas with mezcal and it was perfect! (I still recommend trying their house drinks- I'm just really not a fan of sweet things and it all comes down to personal preference.) I have been obsessed with quesabirria lately, so naturally I had to order them. They were so good! The tacos were a decent size and the consummé perfectly complimented the cheesy flavor of the quesabirria. Tequilas is the perfect happy hour spot! And it's also right next to Winn-Dixie, so you can hit up happy hour on the weekend and then do your weekly grocery shopping. I came here for a coworker's birthday lunch, and we all had a good time. I will say the most significant thing was the prices. Even for the lunch menu, the prices seemed high for the quality and taste of the food. I ordered a California burrito, but I wasn't too impressed. It wasn't the best one I had, but it wasn't the worst. I also made a reservation, thinking it would be packed for lunch on a Tuesday, but it was empty. It made me sad to see it like that, but I think the prices are a big turnoff. Also, the restaurant gives a high-end vibe with the cloth napkins and the extensive bulky menus, but it isn't that way. Maybe I need to come back during dinner, but I don't think I'll be back if the prices are as high as they were for a simple burrito. read more
