Had a fabulous first experience at One Night Taco Stand while in Jax for work, and honestly... it was so good I ended up having it twice for dinner during my trip. No regrets. Zero. Not even a little! From the moment I was seated, Alexandra was on it! She immediately brought out warm chips and salsa (always a strong opening move), and of course I had to add queso because I believe queso is less of a choice and more of a lifestyle. The chips were perfectly warm and the queso was smooth, melty, and exactly what my soul needed after a long work day! Their happy hour is seriously impressive. Apps are half off, margaritas and daiquiris are 2 for 1, and on Fridays all premium drinks are $10. It felt like the universe was rewarding me for simply showing up hungry! The menu is HUGE with tons of options, but I landed on the authentic mexican street tacos with a side of rice. Let me just say... those tacos were perfection!!! Packed with flavor, fresh, and clearly made with care! But the sleeper star? The rice. Light, fluffy, and honestly some of the best rice I've had from a Mexican restaurant in a long time. I don't usually rave about rice, yet here we are. The restaurant itself has a super fun WWE theme, which was unexpected but really cool and unique. Came on a Friday evening with some friends and the kids. No wait, got right in. It was moderately busy. Service was okay- got my 1st margarita at the same time kids were getting their food. The guys had had their beers for about 10 minutes by the time my drink came. We got a couple queso dips- flavor wasn't bad but the consistency was super thick and needed to be warmed more to make it thinner and easier to dip. We got a variety of entrees: the kids menu had a variety and all 3 kids ordered something different (quesadilla, chicken strips, grilled chicken). The kids ate the quesadilla and chicken strips super quickly so had to have been good. The French fries were great- perfect breading and crispiness. Adults got the chori chicken, 3 beef tacos, pollo loco, and 2 mix & match tacos (cheesesteak taco & porky pig taco). My husband gave the chori chicken a 3/5. The beef tacos were good. My favorite taco was the porky pig. The carnitas was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the pickled onions and avocado sauce on top. The cheesesteak taco was decent but the steak wasn't as tender as I would've hoped. Our server was very nice but I think she had a lot of tables to tend to so she didn't come around as often as usual. I bring all of my friends and family here and when they ask what to get I say anything because it's seriously all SOO GOOD! Parking at lunchtime as not the greatest but we were able to find a spot just as we pulled in. We walked in and we were sat immediately near the front door. They had a lunch special going on where you can get 3 specialty tacos for $9.99 and most of us agreed that we were going to get that. I had decided before we got there that I was going to get a marg so when our server came over I chose the One Night in Tamarind (Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind vodka, watermelon puree, lime juice, agave, tamarindo candy stick, tajin rim). He asked me "single or double?" and I said "double". I could not shove enough chips and salsa into my mouth to soak up the alcohol. It was kinda strong but I liked it. For the tacos I got the: Bacon Cheeseburger Taco (exactly what it sounds like but in taco form) Taco Fresco (skirt steak, pico de gallo, queso fresco) The Shroom Taco (grilled chicken, mushroom, shredded cheese, queso dip) Honestly, the bacon cheeseburger taco was pretty good. I think this spot, this location in particular, is so underrated. I've always had great service here, in and out in a reasonable amount of time, and the food and drinks are good. The drink specials are awesome here! If that's all you are looking for, take them up on it! Are these the best tacos in Jax? No. But for what you get, price and value wise, I think they get the job done and I'm happy with what I get in return. I liked my Birria quesadilla and my Frida margarita. They even let me substitute for my fave tequila for this drink (maestro dobel) without hesitation. My Fiancée and I ordered food for pickup from here and had an overall pleasant experience. The Quesibirria was an intriguing and decently executed dish. It's really nice that it comes with sour cream, Birria and an Avocado dipping sauce. The quesadilla was a bit dry overall, but obviously the sauces make up for it. The Birria was a little lacking in flavor for me, but I really did enjoy the avocado dip as a go to. We also had a west coast burrito. The fries were honestly the standout for me. Double fried and crunchy while still Maintaining a soft and tasty inside, they were amazing on the side. Unfortunately they turned a bit mush inside the burrito, but it was so well packed that I could easily overlook that. I'd definitely come back here. I was in town for a work conference. One Night Taco Stand showed up in my IG feed. I added them to my must visit list. I'm so glad I did. They have three locations in the Jacksonville area and I visited the Southside location. The space is fun and bright. They have a small patio area that is equally as fun. The team greeted me promptly and got me set up at a table. I went with a burrito bowl because it had a little bit of everything. I upgraded for birria and I'm glad I did. The meat was juicy and tender. The rice and beans made a nice base for lettuce tomato and cheese. This was a hearty meal that I was not able to finish. I added a side of cheese dip, because honestly I've never met a gooey cheese I could resist. It's definitely enough to share. I had a giant bowl all to myself. Lastly I ordered a margarita. One Night Taco Stand is a place for pseudo Mexican type food with a strong American emphasis. This in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, there is something to be said that creating a fusion between Mexican food and popular American dishes like Buffalo wings and cheesesteaks can be a good thing. However, the problem that I encountered with One Night Taco Stand, well, there are several problems, made me give it at best three stars and honestly, I considered giving it two stars. Let's start with prices. They are higher than the norm and the thing that got me the most was that they charged three dollars for a little bag of tortilla chips. One of our group wanted queso, which was four dollars, and we had to get that small bag of chips for three dollars. My West Coast Burrito with steak was about seventeen dollars and was a grease laden mess. Everyone was pretty much let down with their meal and to be kind, I woukd call it lackluster and at best, mediocre (and that is a term I use in this application with extreme kindness). I am giving it three stars and as I explained, I was toying with throwing a two star rating, but no one was rude or anything. The best day to go is on Taco Tuesdays! $2.99 for any tacos, which you can not find prices like that at any other tex mex restaurant in Jax. Usually, it's only a limited menu for such a deal. I took my grandma out for some tacos today. This one night taco stand just opened and I thought what better way to support than by going to eat some tacos! My grandma and I love tacos! And so when I told her there was one that opened near us, she wanted to go right away. The place is located in the sushi X, pizza hut plaza. More towards near the end next to Goodwill. Parking space is small, but not hard to find a spot to park at. There are outdoor and indoor seating available. We were greeted right away when we walked in. Everything is nice and clean. Great atmosphere. Our waitress was super friendly, kind, and very attentive to what we needed. I ordered the sriracha shrimp and the buffalo chicken while my grandma ordered the crunchy taco ground beef one. I also asked for hot sauce and they gave me two of their house made sauce (habanero and a mango one) I believe it was mango....I forgot hahaha. Sorry for the short term memory loss like Dori. The sriracha shrimp was crunchy, juicy, flavorful and delicious! The buffalo chicken was mhmmm mum good. The hot sauces added some fire to my tacos and I love it! My grandma wished there were onions in her tacos, but she enjoyed it with the chalupa hot sauce and their salsa. Shoutout to our local community heroes. The food and service at this venue is wonderful. I am picky about my salsa and I was so happy with the salsa here. It was refreshing, nice texture, and savory. The server provided me with a spicy sauce to give my food the perfect kick. I ordered a watermelon drink and a mango drink. Both had their own special twist on a spicy blend and I love the tamarind candy sticks that came with each. I ordered my favorite dish of course, enchiladas, this was the birria meat and an asked for a little cheese to be added. 3 different sauces on top, I think my favorite is the green sauce. This hit the spot and made my first visit here a home run for my taste buds. Hubby enjoyed his cheeseburger tacos and French fries with a savory spicy flavor. When you arrive at One Night Taco Stand, expect a short wait, great prices, a fun & colorful atmosphere, upbeat ambiance, quick service, tasty cocktails, and prompt service. Also, of course, wonderful food and portions. My personal favorite is the Birria Tacos, which are only available on Sat&Sun. These tacos are the most delicious and gourmet tacos that I have ever personally had. I also love the Surf & Turf Quesadilla for when I pop in on weekdays. My boyfriend orders and loves the Chimichanga every single time we come. We've also tried multiple of their margaritas. They do not skimp when you do the 2 for 1, but their other specialty cocktails are also lovely - especially the Watermelon Smash, Blueberry Lemonade, and Passionate Night.
