Outstanding food, friendly service, and it only took us a half hour to get seated with a party of 8 on a Wednesday night. A few people suggested getting a reservation, but they don't take reservations. And honestly, they turn tables over pretty quickly (again, quick, friendly service goes a long way). I love the creative margaritas they offer up and decided to try the Jalapeño marg on the rocks with salt. It was outstanding. Not insanely spicy, but tasted excellent. The food quality was impressive - excellent flavor, fresh, and all around a winner for the crowd. It was also priced reasonably! Some of the folks in our party had burritos. My husband and I shared the Mocajete and got a side of grilled veggies with it (it was only meat served in it). It was plenty for the two of us, but if you're really hungry, then you won't want to share. We also ordered a couple bowls of queso to share at the table and there was not a drop left. One word of caution, the salsa they serve was pretty spicy. So if you are not a spicy food eater, then skip the salsa and nosh on some chips instead. A couple things I really appreciated: Excellent central location, great for seeing popular areas of Savannah or catching a ghost tour. Salsa was served in individual ramakins which was very COVID-friendly. They kept the chips coming and we were starving when we got there, so I'm glad they did! Great find in Savannah. I wasn't expecting to eat Mexican food, but I'm glad I did. First off, they have AMAZING margaritas, and I specifically loved their prickly pear option. The menu has so many options that even a really picky eater like me couldn't decide what to order (this rarely happens). I loved my rice bowl with both delicious steak and chicken. The rice was fantastic, and I loved that it was combined with queso sauce - it was delicious! Also, the price for the amount and quality of food you get is impressive. Delicious! Came here for dinner on Tuesday and I ordered the al pastor tacos and my mom had the california burrito with carnitas. The al pastor tacos were delicious and juicy and were just overall amazing! My mom didn't like her burrito too much and said the carnitas was hard and over cooked. The service was good. This is definitely one of the best places to get great Mexican in the downtown area! Staff is friendly and follows all COVID precautions. We went out on Saturday evening and we expected it to be somewhat busy. It was busy but we did not have to wait long. One of the best features of this restaurant is the guacamole that they will make table side for you and I feel as if that adds to the experience! An associate will make the guacamole exactly as you want it-spice and everything! I decided to try something out of the norm and went with the Mojcajete (around $16). This was a dish in a lava bowl (extremely hot temperature wise) and it was definitely unique to have something served in that way. This contained grilled chicken/shrimp/carne asada along with Oaxaca cheese. It was as if served as a soup but your intentions are to scoop items from the bowl into a tortilla to eat. Everything tasted great, but this is not something I feel like I would really order much of in the future. Again, taste was not an issue, but the extremely hot lava bowl and soupy nature of the dish made it more work than what I needed. I'm sure this is a traditional dish that many enjoy but this one just was not one for me. Everyone is different! Doesn't take away from the great taste. I was in town for a conference in November and my group and I decided to try Tequila's Town for lunch. I had empanadas for my appetizer. I usually like my chicken or beef empanadas filled with queso or some type of sauce...otherwise they're too dry for me. Theirs weren't made like that so I ordered a chicken empanada and a queso fresco empanada and ate them together. That worked for me. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga lunch special and that was good as well. Service was ok. Not bad, but not outstanding either. Came in here yesterday afternoon with family for the first time and our waitress China was very friendly, bubbly and attentive checking in on us! You can tell she loves what she does and was interacting with my daughter, which was sweet! The chips and salsa are free and unlimited and she filled the basket 3 times, just wow! We ordered for the table their humongous guacamole which they prepare fresh to your liking in front of you, that was pretty unique to watch! Not to mention delicious as well and not spicy which was nice. For my daughter we ordered her a small cheese quesadilla with Mexican rice and beans and she loved it! My dad I forgot the name of his dish, but he quite enjoyed it and it came with corn tortillas, which he asked for more cuz he loved them! My step mom ordered their pure vida bowl and she said it was very filling and yummy! I ordered their California burrito with asada steak and it was alright, mostly taste like a bean burrito, so no flavors really stood out for me and not the typical version I am accustomed to. The burrito had rice, beans and lettuce, not usual ingredients I am used to seeing and regular potatoes vs the usual french fries. This is the best place I've eaten at in savannah. Everything was excellent! Maragaritas are on point. We had the homemade guacamole, carnitas tacos, Al pastor tacos, and barbacoa tacos. The stars of the show were the Al pastor tacos and guacamole. Their horchata is also really good. Customer service is kind of hit or miss, but the food/drinks more than make up for it. Found this restaurant while walking. It was crowded but we were able to get a table for 2. As soon as we sat down we were served salsa and chips. Sangria was good. Husband ordered the Arroz Texano which had shrimp, steak and chicken and I had chicken fajitas. Both dishes were delicious and plentiful. We love Tequila Town! I thought I'd already written a review for them! If you want a fun drink try the prickly pear. It is a margarita with organic prickly pear liqueur. If you want a unique meal try the Molcajete. It is served in a lava rock, all the deliciousness is swimming in a ranchero sauce. Just don't touch the bowl! A must try is the table side guacamole. We always ask that they put everything in but you can customize it however you want. We have liked everything we have eaten here and we are regulars. I've been to Tequila's Town about half a dozen times. IMO, its the best Mexican food in downtown Savannah. The cheese dip is delicious and the tacos are phenomenal. They staff is quick and the food comes out fresh and in timely fashion. I don't go anywhere else for Mexican food when I am staying downtown. The complementary chips and salsa is also very good. Put this place on your list, you will not be disappointed. Easy walk from pretty much anywhere in the historic district. Coming from California, I was a little skeptical about how good Mexican food would be in GA. But, I have a friend who grew up in the south and always talks about white queso and I saw it in the pictures on yelp so this is kinda how we ended up there. The queso was pretty yummy, especially to dip my entree in, too lol. Though I did feel it was a little runny... idk if thats a white queso thing?? The rest of our food was great, too. My friend had the Arroz Texano bowl, I had the flautas with a side of mexican rice and refried beans. We both had peach and mango margaritas (once on the rocks, and once blended to go) and they were stronnnnggg and yummy. Food came out in a timely manor. Flan was descent, too. I would definitely recommend/come back. The only reason I didn't leave 5 stars was because service was just a little eh, but not horrible that it affected the meal. read more
