"King Burrito" Been here twice. Pleased with the portion sizes and I mean.. WOW, our food hit the table after about 3 minutes our order was placed. Burritos are huge and full of flavor. Tortilla soup is delicious as well as the fajitas of course. When we first got here the table we were sat at was still dirty so we had to ask for them to clean it. The service was slow. Then when I ordered I ordered a cheese enchilada what came put was a cheese enchilada with the most disgusting sauce I've ever ate in my life. The smell and the taste was terrible it was some kind of chocolate sauce. Who puts chocolate based sauce on Mexican food? I wouldn't recommend this place at all. When this place first opened it was excellent but as time has gone on, it has fallen off. The food is only so so now. Not a lot of taste to it. Portions are good sized and beer us served in a frosted mug. You get chips and salsa with your meal. The California burrito is pretty good and fairly large. Just fair Mexican food. We eat here because it's all we got. Since recent events we very eat here anymore. We're always being charged incorrectly and non of it has ever been rectified in our favor. They take care of themselves even when they're wrong. My husband had a guy curse at him and tell him "today was not the fucking day for this, it's two fucking dollars just pay it and go, I don't have time for this". The price on their togo menu is different from their in store price. His response was we just haven't fixed it yet. Not the kind of treatment we will stand for. read more

I enjoyed my visit to Teresa's. The place was packed, well decorated with festive Mexican music in the background. I had the shrimp chimichangas with chips and queso for an appetizer. Both were served quickly by our friendly server. Both dishes were delicious! For dessert we had fried ice cream and again it was awesome. I have been waiting for Teresa's to open as it is only a few minutes from my home. What a disappointment. First thing I noticed before I walked in was the loud Mexican music played on the sidewalk. When I walked in, I was the only customer in the restaurant, and the music was very loud (this seems to be common in Mexican restaurants - maybe it is the culture, but it takes away from the meal, it doesn't add to the ambiance). Their menu is large. I ordered the carne asada burrito and an ice tea. In less than 3 minutes, the meal came. Not a good sign. The server told me to be careful because the plate was hot. I didnt touch the plate. I did cut into the burrito, but it was difficult to cut through the tortilla, because it was not cooked. The cook evidently just took it out of the package and put the steak and stuffing in. The steak was very good, but it was luke-warm. I touched the plate that I was told was piping hot - it was room temperature. In fact, everything on the plate was room temperature, except the rice which was almost cold. Again, there was no one in the restaurant - just me. One customer, multiple servers, and a chef. The red sauce on top of the burrito may have been good if it was fresh and hot, but it was neither. The beans had no taste, and rice was almost cold and had the taste and texture of styrofoam. The "ice tea" appeared to have been a weak (and very odd tasting) hot tea that was poured over ice. It tasted like bath water. I took one sip and that was it. I am sorry to so bash a restaurant. I love Mexican food, and want nothing more than this place to succeed and serve good food as it is so close to my house. Sadly, the meal, and even the tea, were lousy. How can ya screw up ice tea, btw?? El Rodeo, which I reviewed some time ago, is only a few miles away, and their food has been excellent each time i have gone there. If you want a sit down restaurant that has good food, nice service, kid friendly and faster than any fast food place; look no further. The decor' is okay, but the big salt water fish tank for the kiddies is nice. The servers are great and very friendly and attentive. Even if it is not their table, they will clear an empty plate or fill a glass. We eat here about once a month because our twin 4-year old boys love it and we can usually get a great mexican dinner for under $50 for 4 people and get in and out in under 30 minutes! (BTW...the Texas Marg is worth having, but get it in small or medium...the large is as big as a mixing bowl!) read more

After living several places across the US I can safely say that MSP, on average, has the worst ethnic food of any major metro area. We have tried a dozen Mexican restaurants and only reached "fair" status. Not so with Teresa's. Simply the best Mexican food to be found south of 494, maybe even all of MSP. After traveling extensively I found several of their dishes to be truly authentic (molcajete, etc) and not just TexMex like most Mexican restaurants. Service is great, as well as the atmosphere. The food was so so but the worse thing was they seated us in a corner by the bar where all the orders are made in a high traffic area where you would normally seat people with loud kids. Just came from Teresa's in Lakeville. The chips were burnt tasting. When complained, we were told that's how all chips are! Ordered the chicken chimichanga, fried crisp. When I received my order, it was not all the way cooked, soggy! When I complained, they told me it was made with a soft shell. Ok, but it was suppose to be deep fried. No manager, no compensation, just the bill. Won't be going back, and will let my friends know if they want burnt chips, and under cooked food go to Teresa's! read more

My husband and I ate here on a Saturday night. We arrived shortly before 6pm and were a little surprised by how quiet it was in there. It was very clean and bright, though, which was a nice change from some other dingy Mexican restaurants around. We were seated right away in a booth and served our complimentary chips and salsa. The taste of the salsa was a little bland compared to the others I've tried. Because we got there before 6pm we were able to partake in happy hour margaritas for a few bucks cheaper than normal. Those were very good! Our waitress was very nice and prompt. No complaints in service whatsoever. Once we placed our order the food came out very quickly, like in under 10 minutes. I ordered a special consisting of a flauta, chimichanga and quesadilla. Nothing else but lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream came with it. I was disappointed in the size of the chimi. The ones I've had at other restaurants are twice the size, but the beef inside was very moist, tender and flavorful. The flaunta was fine, but could have used a dipping sauce of some kind and the quesadilla was a decent size and was packed full of cheese, chicken, onion and peppers. We did save room for dessert. I ordered the fried ice cream and my husband the flan. My fried ice cream was excellent, just could have used a little more crunch to the coating. My husband didn't comment one way or the other, so I'm assuming his was good, since he ate it all. So, it wasn't terrible, but nothing to run back for. I would come here over Don Pablo's any day of the week, but still prefer Acapulco over all others. read more

I gave this place 5 stars for a list of reasons! The food was amazing and very fast! I've been here a couple times. I don't care for their chips as much as some places but they are very original and not bad, just not my top choice. This is a very upbeat, fun, and very friendly place! It does get busy and goes on a wait but the wait is never too long where I'd turn around. (The wait is worth it!!) I recommend this place to anyone even those who don't like Mexican much they have other options. - if you like fish I got a fish enchilada with crab in it. Strongly recommend it was amazing! Like many others, I was excited for Teresa's to open in Maple Grove. I had previously been to the Golden Valley location and enjoyed it. Now, after going, not only and I not excited about Teresa's - I am in no hurry to return. Good: Chips and salsa Bad: Several things - 1. A member of our party called twice ahead of time to try to ensure there would be a table for us (party of 10 - 7 adults, 3 kids) at 5:30 on a Friday night. She was told while they didn't take reservations, it would not be a problem. As the weather was not great, our party straggled. Though two people arrived on time, they gave away the (our) table right in front of them. We ended up being crammed into a booth with an extra table added on the end. 2. Our server did not have a great grasp of the English language, which made ordering somewhat difficult, to the point a couple of people in our group just settled on a menu item that she was able to understand. For drinks, one person asked for an Arnie Palmer. She did not understand, and the person said to ask the bartender as he should know what it is. She did, and the bartender came over and asked if he really meant Jack Daniels. Another person asked for a simple vodka, and even that was an ordeal (she had to go to the bar herself and explain 'Grey Goose Vodka' to the bartender. 3. Three of the adults' meals came out wrong, but based on the service they just suffered in slience. 4. Understanding they were busy, the service for drink refills, extra napkins and silverware was extremely slow. Not a great time, and not in a hurry to return. There are other options in Maple Grove such as El Rodeo and (apparently soon) a Rusty Taco. Maybe this location will get better in time, and I would suggest just waiting for it. read more

TERRIBLE! We took my mom here for mother's day, and that soon became a huge regret. They were not busy at all (which should have been a big sign on a day where restaurants are typically really busy), yet service was beyond slow. It took for ever for someone to even acknowledge us once we were seated. Finally, we placed our order and 40 minutes later, we still did not get anything. We asked our waiter politely what was taking so long and he made a comment that the cooks were on a break, and I said well it's been about 40 minutes since we placed our order. He was quick to jump at me and say that there was no way because he started his shift at 3 right as he helped us out (the time was 3:45, and we were seated before he even got to us). As he walked away I said to my family how nice it is to have our server accuse me of lying. He quickly came back and sarcastically apologized saying that his timing is right and that he will "show us the time card". I found that very rude and we ended up leaving without getting our food. Used to enjoy this restaurant frequently a couple years ago (2012-2014) but visit today was unsatisfactory. Rejected first booth because window sill was filthy. Second booth's sill was merely dusty with a few crumbs. Seats were worn and torn. Usual order of enchiladas arrived without beans or rice. Chunks of chicken were bland and verde sauce was blah. Service was prompt and the only reason for a second star. Both bathrooms had sticky floors and needed to be restocked. It's time for rehab/refurbishment and some managerial TLC. read more

I am giving 5 stars because of the customer service. I had to leave in a hurry and I left my cell phone. I came back and they had it up front. Here is were it gets awesome, I noticed I did not have my wallet and asked them if I left it or should I search outside. The manager brought me in the back room and played the camera and noticed I put it in my hoodie not my back pocket. At this point I felt dumb but the kind manager made me feel like it was no big deal. When I walked out the bar tender said what ever you leave here always gets returned. Being that I live in San Diego and can eat authentic Mexican food (street, family, taqueria), I still make sure to come to Teresa's every time I visit Minnesota. The service is prompt and the the wait staff is very attentive as well as friendly. All dishes are very large in proportion ( the fajitas for two could easily be split between three or four people) and are of the highest quality. I'm not staying that this food is better than San Diego Mexican, but it is a very good option in the metro area. The only down side is that the meals are a bit pricier than I would expect, but given the quality of food and service, I will gladly pay it. read more
