Great down-home Mexican food! Tucked away in a small strip mall in New Hudson, is this hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant. It has authentic mariachi music playing softly, and the decor is done in South of the border flair. It's an authentic down-home mom and pop owned and operated Mexican restaurant, that serves excellent food. I've been dying to get back in to this place and am glad we finally did! The owners are a really nice husband and wife team that actually walk around and thank people for coming in, and try to share a laugh with every person that comes in. They also work as waitstaff, bar and kitchen. They really seem to enjoy what they do, and the food speaks for itself. Pricing was very good per person, generally all under $20 each, and chips and salsa made fresh daily and is served to everyone. They have multiple different flavored margaritas shown as a signature, and serve a bunch of Mexican beer, in addition to standard domestic and regular mixed drinks. We ordered the sizzling combo fajitas and the chimichanga dinner, Both good choices. I highly recommend going here. If you aren't a big Mexican food fan they have steak on the menu, but the atmosphere, attention to guests and the owners directly involved makes this a great place to stop in. They can take large parties also. We've been looking for an authentic (mom's kitchen style) Mexican restaurant since moving from the desert southwest, this is it. Ambience was good, The staff was super friendly - so I feel bad leaving a bad review. But I wish I knew how sub-par the food was before I went. Queso was literally flavorless and looked like it was scooped out of a can. The chips were good, but pretty bland salsa. The food seemed to be pretty processed. Excellent hole in the wall restaurant that's an absolute gem. Really enjoyed our lunch choices - beef burrito, chorizo taco (Mexican style), and chicken tamale. I try to be objective with every review, especially when going to mom-and-pop restaurants. More so, I know that every restaurant that makes recipes from scratch will taste different from other restaurants. In 2024, however, every restaurant has to be scrutinized, given inflation and just how expensive it is to order for a family of four at a restaurant. What used to cost $30.00 now can easily exceed $50.00. Tonight, we wanted enchiladas, and we ordered from Teresita for the first time. I ordered online, but unfortunately, they weren't alerted of our order through Yelp, and it needed to be made. Asking for 15 minutes to complete my order, I agreed and waited. The staff was incredibly nice and apologetic for the wait. I didn't mind - knowing that this really wasn't their fault. Unfortunately, the food wasn't to our liking. The rice was a low-quality Spanish rice with a medicinal taste to it. The guacamole was watered down and lacked any flavor. The enchiladas were cooked using a lot of sugar - yes, sugar. A sweet enchilada was not something I was expecting, and, for our palate, it wasn't something I wanted to eat again. To reiterate, I'm walking into a family-owned restaurant with family recipes. To some, this is a perfectly acceptable dish. For us, I don't think I could see myself coming back given the cost was commensurate to chains that sadly have better quality. read more

Ordered the fish taco platter and the carnitas platter. Both were so delicious and loaded with pico, fresh avocado, fluffy refried beans, and delicious rice. I have been a customer since 2015. The food is some of the best in the area. Portions are good sized and always tastes great. After the shutdown they have expanded into the next storefront and now have a liquor license. Prices have gone up some and the second basket of chips are not free any more (that is mentioned in their menu 7 times) but it is still worth the money. Now my only complaint is they are not open on Sundays and are not open past 8pm. On one of my most recent visits (5-18-23) I had to complain about my bill as the menu prices were less than was on my bill. Now the server/owner did correct part of it, which was great. However, the menu should have been more detailed about the meat option prices for items. That is not discouraging me or my friends from eating there. Lunch specials are great and they are always willing to make your dining experience a good one. Bring your apatite and cash to save the card fees like most businesses are charging these days. read more

On the positive - the server was a very nice person. However the food not so nice. The Chimichanga was large but the reddish sauce didn't taste good. But worst was that there were some raw pieces of the chunky ground meat. Also had what looked to be a bay leaf in it as well. The rice had a different texture and didn't taste good either. I understand because there was a snowstorm at the time, but I think they should have at least put a sign on the door. Today I went and placed a carry out order and got the lunch combo with a burrito and enchilada, both ground beef. It was during the late lunch hours and the place was empty. I don't know how busy it normally is at this time because many surrounding businesses were closed due to the weather. Inside was comfortable and clean. The woman working was very friendly and was able to answer my questions. My order was less than $10, which is higher than many similar places during the lunch hour, but was still reasonable for the portion. The food came up very quickly, everything was correct and I had all my sides, plastic ware and napkins. The food was alright (I know, I know... but I will give more detail), but it wasn't bad and I didn't consider it to be particularly good either. It was sufficient. The burrito had ground beef, rice with peas, and beans inside and was topped with cheese. The flavor was a little bland, but plain burritos often are - it was pretty much exactly what I expected. The enchilada was decent on the taste and the red sauce was just right for my liking. However, the enchilada had a bit of undercooked ground beef. Even though I didn't, it was still edible and just a little pink still, not raw like another review. Seeing this mentioned previously, I was not concerned - everywhere has a bad day or maybe it was a new cook or a number of other things - but it seems to be an ongoing issue with ground beef items. It could be a sign of bigger issues, but I don't think it is a reason to not try the place. Just be aware there have been issues and look at the food before eating it or order something without ground beef. The rice was mixed with corn and topped with cheese, but it was dry, severely lacked flavor and tasted like it had been microwaved. The beans reminded me of a flavor from a summer cookout - kind of barbequey (it could be because I usually use vegetarian ones at home) - and I cannot decide if that is a good or bad thing, but it was certainly unusual for the Mexican places I normally visit. Overall, it was decent and that's about it. I understand how some reviewers love the place but also how some others are not fans or have had issues. I am not opposed to eating here again, but at the same time don't really plan to. If I do come again, I'd probably order the same thing. read more

The chips were nice and hot however I had to add salt to them as well as the salsa. Salsa had great taste but not salty enough which I easily remedied. Large order, really simple.....I thought...8 hard tacos, 2 soft and a chilli relleno( ala cart) They ONLY had 1 relleno left(we wanted more), 6 of my 8 tacos were soft, the 2 soft were supposed to be meat and cheese but had tomato and lettuce.....chili relleno ended up being a meal not ala cart. Just not very good. Fish tacos had little flavor. They needed an appropriate salsa or seasoning. They were served with that old style "somewhat" ground up mexican rice and "old style" refried beans that was served in the 1980s. This place wins my award for WORST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!!! Taco Bell is MUCH better. Went in tonight. We were the only customers there. We ordered 2 dinners, both beef enchiladas ROJA. When we got home we saw that we were given enchiladas MOLE. NOT even close. Now I like a good Mole but this mess was bitter and just tasted "off". The rice tasted old and appeared webby. The refried beans were the only acceptable thing on the plate but I have had canned refried beans better than these. We will NEVER be going back & I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Ok, it is what it is. The chips and salsa are good, the tacos are pretty much like what you would find from the street vendors in Mexico city. The Ceviche ( yes they have Ceviche) was good. All and all not bad for a vey small New Hudson Mexican place. They spruced up the inside of the place with a bit of metal roofing and two by fours making it look good.
