We stopped in to try this place after hearing so many great things, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The food was overpriced for what we received, and overall, we didn't feel the experience justified the cost. The staff also wasn't very welcoming, which didn't make for a great first impression. When we arrived, three children who appeared to be related to an employee were occupying two tables in the dining area. They had snacks, cereal, restaurant food, iPads, and arts and crafts spread across the tables, making the space feel cluttered and messy. Since all of the other tables were occupied, we ended up sitting right next to them. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our order. During that time, I observed two of the children go behind the counter after eating snacks and using their devices. Then they proceeded to help with customer orders, hand food to customers, and pass orders to DoorDash drivers. I did not see them wash their hands before handling food or interacting with customer orders, which raised concerns for me about food safety and sanitation. The restaurant was extremely busy, and the overall environment felt chaotic. Combined with the cleanliness issues and long wait, it made for an uncomfortable dining experience. I understand that busy days can happen, but based on this visit, I left feeling disappointed. I had high expectations because of the positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience did not live up to the hype. Pretty good teriyaki chicken, had the spicy teriyaki chicken bowl, thought it was spiced perfectly and very tasty. The establishment is small, we order online and the food came out about 10 minutes which was the expected time per the online order. One of the servers was cleaning up and made it a point to say hello and a tell me she hoped I had a great night. We will be back if we are ever on this side of town. If at first you don't succeed, try try again...and I'm really happy I did. I often will not go back to a restaurant if I haven't been happy with my order previously, however, I was really in the mood for some good teriyaki and I thought I would go ahead and give this place another chance. I'm really happy that I did. This time the food was amazing. It definitely tasted like teriyaki chicken! It was full of sauce, and they also provided extra sauce on the side. The rice was done nicely and the veggies were delicious. This was exactly what I wanted! I ordered carry out and the service was fast and my order was correct. Completely disappointed, runny ass teriyaki sauce, maybe like 3/4 of a chicken thigh a massive pile of rice and vegetables that's how they make up and justify a $15 bowl. I ordered three large bowls, three egg rolls and six piece crab Rangoon. 60 fucking dollars it should've been piled high with chicken, but it had maybe about eight pieces of chicken in it. They don't flatten it out so it doesn't get that good grill effect all over it. The rice is mushy. The noodles were pretty good, but that was about it. It was like meah best. Never going back to this place. The guy at the front counter got into an argument with a DoorDash guy about whose job was what he should've just did his job and helped out the customer and then brag about how good the stuff was well they don't really know any better because this is all they have down here. New Mexico sucks as a whole, but this place really stands out in a bag of suck. My kid was definitely disappointed because he loves my teriyaki chicken. Had gotten coupons in the mail and decided to give this place a try. We went on Friday night and there was a constant stream of people in and out. Small shop with a few tables, but parking wasn't bad. Workers were friendly. Our order seemed to take a little longer compared to others that came in behind us though. Among the happy hour items (M-F 3-5 pm), the jr teriyaki chicken bowl was $4.99 (which the gal at the counter was nice enough to correct for us after giving the guy after us the discount, originally $9.09) and they also have 20% off for military. For $20 (with our coupon), we got two junior teriyaki chicken bowls with noodles/veggies and a regular sized spicy teriyaki bowl with fried rice. Flavor was good and chicken wasn't dry. I rarely review restaurants but my experience here was so bad I felt compelled to set some expectations. Pro: the food is actually pretty good. It's nice to be able to get vegetables with teriyaki (usually it comes with salad where I'm from) and both the meat and veggies were cooked well and tasted good. Con: this is the worst service I've ever experienced in Albuquerque. The first time I placed a pickup order online, which sends some unnecessary texts for a system I'll get into later. I missed the messages because I generally expect that when I place an order and receive a time to pick my order up, that will be the time to pick my order up. I got to the store well after my order should have been ready. The guy at the counter ignored me for five minutes while chatting and calling out door dash orders and finally asked if he could help me. Turns out, my order was not yet ready. Okay, sure. Maybe you're exceptionally busy tonight and short-staffed. While I waited for my order, three people came in, placed orders, got their orders, and left. It took 45 minutes from the time my order should have been ready for him to hand me my order. No apology, not even eye contact when he tossed the bag at me, let alone a comp for the bad service. I tried again a few days later, thinking that bad experience was probably a one-off. I place my order and this time I wait for the automated message system and follow its instructions. I check in, give it the time I expect to be there, and wait ten extra minutes to show up past that time. Order? Not only is it not ready, but a stream of people come in after me also picking up orders which aren't ready. The guy at the counter (same one as before) just shakes his head mournfully each time. "It's not ready yet," he says with absolutely no regret. "No, I'm not sure when it will be," he murmurs reverently like a prayer to the Patron Saint of Wasting People's Time and Charging Them Money for the Privilege. Even after padding the time it took and showing up late on purpose, I still waited 15 minutes for my food. This time it was ready a full hour from when I placed the order to when counter guy mumbled "sorry bout it" while he chucked my bag at me somehow without looking in even my general direction. So the bottom line is this place has decent food but exceptionally bad service. It could stand to have fewer mom jokes plastered on the walls, too. If you're going to provide a bad experience, maybe rethink the whole 90s Bart Simpson bad attitude vibe. read more

Not great. In fact, not good. First of all, you know about the Kamikazi parking lot here, right? I won't go into it, but it's a challenge. Be careful, always. Secondly, small restaurant with limited seating. The Teriyaki Madness menu board here at this franchise doesn't mention the "Mad Spicy" sauce that the national chain boasts about, but the counterman and owner assured me they had it. Okay, sock it to me! Well, what a sad thing to arrive home and find that, not only was my Mad Spicy Teriyaki Steak bowl not mad-spicy, it wasn't spicy at all. Or especially good - just sweet. Oh, and I paid extra for that "Mad Spicy Sauce," but they just gave me plain Teriyaki Steak . . . oh well. There was a decent amount of protein in the large bowl, but - well, I just put a bunch of it into the fridge and reheated a burger I'd grilled yesterday, just so I could have some of the charred flavor I'd been craving. Veggies on the bowls were surprisingly skimpy. Proteins, as noted, were pretty well represented - just weren't very flavorful (although my wife's spicy chicken _did_ actually have a tiny dusting of spice and the char was much better than that on my steak - she liked it well enough that she thinks she'll return). Decent amount of base (soba noodles for me, brown rice for my wife), too, and it tasted all right. Other treats included seeing the owner viciously order that staff no longer give out her telephone number, recounting some unfortunate complaint that had reached her. And then seeing her lash out at the staff. Ugh. And, sorry, but you're the owner of a new franchise in the area - how about put on a smile and a welcoming face when new first-time customers come in? Maybe make eye contact? I mean, you're sitting on Yelp with under three stars shortly after your open - put in some work! The other staff were doing as well as they could in light of the Wicked Witch impression rolling off the owner, smiling and hustling. (Too bad they didn't get my order right; that would have gone a long way.) Oh, and while it's an order-at-the-counter/call-out-your-name place, they make sure to give you the opportunity to tip, with a jar for cash and a 15/20/25%/custom screen on the credit payment. So, for two of us it was $9.09 (junior spicy chicken bowl with brown rice and veggies), $15.79 ("Mad Steak" - not that it was what was served) with veggies and $1.50 noodles, $2 tax for $28.38. After the 15% tip (calculated on the total with tax - come on, man!) of $3.96 (that's absurd, really - $4 to hand me my stuff over the counter?) we left $32.34 at Teriyaki Madness. Along with any desire I might have had to return, I'm afraid. It's rare for me to do a review with so little praise, but Teriyaki Madness earned it on this visit. read more

Smelt really good as we went to the ups store. We got dinner to go... sadly you can't get noodles and rice. One or the other. The spicy chicken bowl was, well for lack of a Better term, Awful. No flavor just Tabasco and burnt. As if they dunked it in Tabasco and cooked it. Pot stickers were rocks. Not sure if they were deep fried or what. But frozen and reheated and just nasty. Second time I have had a bad experience here. First I ordered online walked in and no one was at the counter. The people working did not speak English. She told me in Spanish The person who sheould be at counter was in the bathroom. I waited for close to 15min. The poor people working were saying he would be back soon. The line was so long out the door. Other people in line had online orders so we all started lookin at the names on recipts on the bags. Anyway the guy in the bathroom his name was Jordan, the young lady working was knocking the door trying to get him to come out. I had already paid so I would of left, but they already had my money. That was over 6 months ago. So I decided to try again. I walked in and the person at the counter said call in? I say no, he sighed like I was disturbing him he took my order, then I told him what I wanted he didn't say anything I paid and he was still acting like I had just put him out. Teriyaki Anyone??? New restaurant in NE Heights. Chicken was tasty! Egg Roll was nice and crispy & Staff were very nice. Problem was vegetables were not steamed or stir fried enough. They tasted like a plate of raw veggies. Large Bowl came with one Teriyaki Sauce and no Soy Sauce. Rice was hard but again I didn't have any soy sauce on it. I asked them if they had put sauce in bag and they assured me they had. This restaurant has the possibility of being a popular Teriyaki restaurant. I saw them slicing the raw vegetables so if they can cook their vegetables right and give you the right amount of sauce it would be perfect! I live on the westside so going back was not an option. The flavor just isn't there and they have that funky aftertaste some eggrolls tend to have... The other entree's I've had a bite of here and there have been alright as well. Nothing bad, but nothing that makes me want to rush back. Overall it's priced higher than it's worth IMO. Good food but not great, and not the biggest portions. I went to this place last Friday 3/ with a hope to get a "WABA GRILL" or FLAMEBROIL" ) experience and it was a complete failure. I spent $38 dollars to explore several menu items, and everything had no flavor. The spicy chicken bowl tastes like spicy ketchup and the chicken breast had no season. The fried rice was mushy and taste like it was just thawed. The Yokisoba noodle bowl had no sauce (complete Fraud) far from a Yokisoba anything. The Alacarte side of the steak barely made me satisfied after I had to put the Bachan sauce from my pantry on it and cook it in my air fryer for some damn flavor. I hate Waba Grill and Flame broil won't open up a location out here (yes (i emailed their corporate office) because the Teriyaki fraud at this place was the only thing madness. You will be Hella mad after you taste the food. But if this is the only Teriyaki place you know, proceed accordingly. Will not be back ! read more

As with what the other reviews have said: good food, unacceptable service. I really do think the issue stems from poor front staff, because the rest of the employees have never given me issues and are clearly hard workers. But every time I have interacted with front staff, they have been dismissive, unprofessional, or even aggressively rude and alienating to customers. There has consistently been a delay between ordering and obtaining the food that is far beyond what is expected. 45 min - 1 hour is what is expected from a sit down restaurant, not a strip mall fast food joint. Most recently, I had ordered before driving over for at least 15 minutes before arriving, interacted with rude front staff who aggressively stated "your order is not supposed to be ready until X time" and I needed to wait, which, I ordered for ASAP online, and who are you to say such things? I waited another 30 minutes for my order, watching as walk-in orders were placed and received their food before me. Worse still, when my order was called, it was someone from the kitchen double checking orders, not the front staff who knew i was there and whom I clearly stated my name and order to, that handed me my order. If you find yourself wanting Asian food near Montgomery and Juan Tabo, write off Teriyaki Madness as an option. read more

She left the building with around 10 min before closing and they still wanted to act like we did them so wrong by placing it at that time. And look people we still get no apology or anything just excuses after a HORRIBLE experience. So now what's the excuse to being so rude to your last orders? My grandma, poor thing by the way rushed over showed up within 10-12 min of ordering. She also said the people were extrmely rude and threw it at her. Sweet very old 83 year old lady who is lucky to be here with us. I whole heartedly know that there's a special place for people that treat others like this. Just apologize. This whole thing was wrong on the business end. Any apology yet? No. Anything at all!? No. A simple apology for making our night miserable just because your employees have huge egos during closing time, would look way better rather than making up really dumb cover up excuses. I had everything there apparently now when I just said I didn't. So they try to gaslight me before an apology now too. Very unprofessional location.
