I love the Mumbai Frankie, but decided to try the Tofu tiki bowl instead, it was delicious, the spice level was a little bit for me, after having my son I feel like my spice tolerance has gone down sadly.. but I took my time it was still really delicious and flavorful. Note* For my fellow cilantro taste like soap friends remember to ask for things to come without it just to be safe. I forgot and my rice was beautifully garnished with a generous handful that I tried to meticulous pick off, but I definitely missed some. My husband got the Pad Thai I stole a few bites it was good and very creamy! We also got a Masala chai and the almond butter chocolate pie, both good the pie could pack a little more chocolate flavor for me but love that it has no refined sugar and that they make all their desserts! Our son enjoyed some fries with garlic sauce. The space is nice and cozy with warm colors and fun murals. So glad I CHAI'd this spot out for a late night work session. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening at 6:30pm- with the intent of doing a bit of work and enjoying a chai latte. I'll be back! WiFi was easy to connect to & the service was fast. In terms of the chai tea latte they ask what type of milk you'd like and then if you'd like any sweetener added. It's refreshing to stop by a spot that doesn't just use the preboxed chai mix! Along with my wife and son I went to Annapurna for lunch. My family ordered soup and sandwiches, which arrived at our table within ten minutes. I was told that my salad was "on the way". I waited ten minutes, then ten more. I finally went to the counter to see about the delay. My family had finished lunch and we were waiting for a salad. There being no one at the counter, I went into the kitchen where I found a young woman playing on her phone. She did not speak English, but directed me to the walk in cooler. When she opened the door we discovered the young man who had taken our order making out with the waitress. He explained that my order had "just arrived" and would be prepared right away. We left. I am not inclined to eat in a restaurant where I can't tell where the employees hands have been. We had expected a good experience, like we had on previous visits. The food is amazing. Locale is lovely for a casual get together or date. The service... I think the one guy in front is just overwhelmed. He's trying to field phone calls from customers and take care of the line in front of him and do all the table service and while he does an excellent job of it, it leads to slow ordering and slow food to table, which requires a high level of zen from customer. I think hiring an extra person for front of house ( even part time for their busy hours) would help a lot. read more

Honestly, we expected more from this place. We decided to try this place because of its good reviews here and on happy cow. We found the food to be lackluster. It was nice that I could vegetarian and not only vegan. But my grilled cheese wasn't very cheesy and the chilies were overpowering. The fries were fried excellently tho. The biggest disappointed about the food was with our dessert to go. It was horrible and stale. The Bundt cake was hard as a rock that my sister literally spit it out of her mouth. Feeling a little hungry after class, we went to #annapurnarestaurant . They say if you go to a restaurant twice and it's just as delicious, then you know it's consistent. This time I took Mark, hoping to replicate the pleasant Ayurvedic experience. This time at Annapurna's Eubanks location. First of all, they NAILED the artwork. Delivered via DoorDash so can't speak to ambiance/service, only the food. Short story: absolutely try the pad Thai! I was super skeptical ordering it from a place called Annapurna's but I'm so glad I did! It's the best thing I've ordered from anywhere in ABQ in a while! The noodles were the perfect chewiness, the veggies were fresh and crisp, the tofu tender, and the sauce was not too sweet or salty. Almost perfect! The only thing that threw me off was whatever oil they cooked it in. It was thick and coated my lips with each bite. It tasted rich like butter but it wasn't butter. I may call and ask them what it is and update this. Even if it's heart attack inducing transfat, I may still order again! Update: after speaking with someone who checked with the kitchen, I was told they use rice bran oil. The omega 6 to 3 ratio is 15.6:1. For comparison, extra virgin olive oil is 14:1 and canola oil is 2:1. I feel better knowing that they're not using a low quality PUFA like grape seed oil. read more

I came by myself for lunch on a Friday around 11:30 AM. No one approached me for quite a while. I perused the menu and decided to order the falafel plate with the spinach almond soup, which was the soup of the day. There was one other customer but more came in while i was there. Back for a second time here with a vegan friend and again, we were very please with the service and food. This time I tried the breakfast quinoa which was chock full of dried fruit and nuts - served with agave syrup on the side - very yummy! My friend had the cardamom pancakes and they were also, very tasty (a bit dry though). You can fix the dryness with syrup though so no biggie. That's the nature of cooking with less fat. With that said, the food is big on flavor and I always grab a chai as well for the same reason. This restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall/plaza. It is truly a gem. This review is written during pandemic restrictions, but don't worry you can call in an order and pick it up. Other options include: order online thru a second party service and pick order up or delivery. I ordered through Selfane, the online ordering option to try it out. It was simple and my order was ready when at the indicated time. Next time I will call it in, because there is a small surcharge using the service. I want my "Matar paneer" back! Annapurna has the unfortunate idea to change their menu and style to suit a more main stream crowd. What a shame. Although it still serve Ayurvedic types of food (or so it says) they have removed most of the Indian names for their dishes and have moved to serve sandwiches, grilled cheese, Mumbai Frankie, pizza, stir fries, pastas, etc. They kept very few traditional dishes! It's a real downer, we loved the healthy foods they offered before and miss our "matar paneer" very much among many other dishes. Sorry only three stars. I use to love this place. Don't get me wrong the food remains delicious and full of flavors! I just don't get the Italian calzone, the taste clashes with what I am looking to get at Annapurna. I've been wanting to try Annapurna's for years (I love vegetables and I love Indian food, also I wanted to experience eating for dosa types). I didn't realize this location was here!! What a delightful meal!!! During Covid, at least at this phase, they do not have inside dining, but there are outdoor tables in the plaza that I saw the staff delivering plates to, they have 2 tables right outside. You go in to order, or call it in. We decided to go in since it was our first time. I wish I got the names of the 2 ladies that helped us, so incredible friendly and helpful. We all ordered the oat milk chai!!! It was fabulous. They explained that they had experienced soy shortage, and they were trying oat milk. It was fabulous and perfect for me, since I love chai and oat milk, and have been cutting soy out of my diet. I truly wanted to the try everything. This review is based on 1 visit during Labor Day weekend 2020. My companion had been here before and recommended it so we went. I liked the simple decor and the order-at-the-counter style. saverything came out in to-go containers because of Covid. My companion had a chai that he loved along with his tacos. His plate looked really yummy. I had a carrot/ginger soup, a side salad, and a samosa. My only disappointment was the little salad which just had some spring greens and nothing else. The dressing had no flavor and was simply very greasy. Although, I am sure it was healthy grease! I had to use a little of the fig sauce from the samosa to help with the salad. For 15 yrs I have been coming to Annapurna (all locations) and getting a chapati with hummus and cucumber instead of eggplant. Today they served it with eggplant and when I asked for the cucumber they brought me 5 little slices and refused to bring more....how much are a few slices of cucumber? $.50 cents. Also they put a little more than a teaspoon of hummus on the sandwich. Boo - for a few cents (lunch cost us $35.00) they have lost long term customers. read more

Now on Door Dash! As a mostly plant based eater and Indian food enthusiast, I have dined many a time at Annapurna's, at all the locations, and am always pleased with the food, tea, and experience. Today I tried their breakfast burrito for the first time and can't believe it's taken me this long. I finally feel like I'm really living! Yes, they have vegetarian or vegan BREAKFAST BURRITOS and those are really hard to find. For most vegans and even vegetarians, conventional breakfast burritos don't comply with dietary restrictions (lard, oftentimes meat is in the chili, of course eggs are not apart of a plant based diet, and so on). The best part was being able to choose a chapati or dosa wrap...who knew there could be such yummy and interesting ways to sub tortillas?! There's 3 locations that I know of here in ABQ- one on Montano and 4th, one on Eubank, and one on Nob Hill. They also do a chai happy hour special that should not be missed. read more

Found this place on yelp cuz it offers a ton of vegan food and sweets and I'm vegan. Drop what you are doing and head over!! The staff is very helpful and answered all questions. They did not get annoyed with a couple in front of me who was curious about every vegan option on the menu. I ordered black coffee, it was made on the spot none of this pot of coffee that's been sitting around since god knows when. I also ordered the tofu scramble (see pictures). I will say it is not authentic Indian food but it has a good foundation. The coconut curry soup was not overwhelming the veggies were very fresh with a little bite to them. The fries phenomenal. I got a little side bread tortilla looking thing the guy working recommended and wow it was good. The tofu scramble was very flavorful and fresh it did have a little too much oil for me (I usually add as little oil as possible to things). But that's just me. I got one of every cookie they had cuz....well, why the hell not. Everything was very good... the decor is cool, staff is nice and it's a very cool calming environment. Myself and two friends went there on October 26, 2023 at 6:45PM. The restaurant was empty. should mention that we have been in there numerous times before and it was always ok. My friend ordered at the counter. I ordered pizza but asked the kid behind the counter how long it would take for the kitchen to make my pizza because I didn't wanna be sitting there waiting while all my friends were already eating their food. He said it would take 15 minutes. We went and sat down and the room was so cold we had to get up and ask if they could turn the air conditioning off. The kid seemed confused as to how to operate the thermostat. After 10 minutes the room was still freezing, so we got up and moved to another area where it was marginally warmer. My two friend's meals arrived. One of them had ordered soup and it was cold. So we had to get back up and go find the kid and ask him if he could at least nuke it a little. Another party of six then walked into the restaurant about this time. Meanwhile my friend was waiting for her soup. 15 minutes went by. Finally, he brought the warmed up soup out. Another half an hour passed. My friends were finishing up their meal. Even the party of six had been served and were eating by now. I walked up to the counter and asked the kid if my pizza was ready yet. I told him that my friends are already finishing up their meal and he said it would be right out. Another 10 minutes went by ...it STILL hasn't arrived. I went back up to the counter, and this time the kid was nowhere to be found. Finally, I looked around the counter and he was standing there with his back to me and there was a pizza just sitting there next to him. I called out to him and said., "Excuse me ... is THAT my pizza?" He looked at it and told me it had just come out of the oven and he hadn't had the chance to bring it out to me yet. When I touched the pizza, it was only lukewarm so that wasn't even true. We have been going to this place for years and enjoyed it, but Annapurna has just gone into the toilet. The service is awful to nonexistent . I know that finding gluten-free, vegetarian food in Albuquerque can be a challenge, but AVOID THIS PLACE. I will confess I am not a super-expert on Indian food, but I just was not impressed with my experience here. Unlike other reviewers, I found the staff helpful and friendly. The restaurant, however, was not clean, which is a big no-no. I ordered a south Indian sampler and a samosa. Aside from the samosa, the dishes were quite bland, which was quite a surprise to me as Indian is generally known for its strong flavors. I strongly disagree with other reviewers who claim that the food here is on par with Indian food in L.A. It is not. Better Indian food can be found right here in Albuquerque, or even in St. Louis, not known for its large Indian population or emphasis on ethnic food. Overall, could not recommend, but if you must come here, you won't go wrong with a samosa. read more

I stopped in for a mid-week mid-afternoon lunch & had a cup of butternut soup of the day, falafel wrap, & glass of chai tea. For most of the visit I was the only customer, so no trouble placing order or getting meal. Counter guy was okay, not particularly friendly but not hostile either. He did his job, but with what felt like minimal involvement. The cup of butternut soup was strongly spiced with Indian curry powder taste, which overwhelmed the flavor of the squash base. Hence loss of a star for not letting the butternut soup taste like butternut. The flavor wasn't bad, it just wasn't butternut. The falafel wrap was quite spicy as well and tasted good besides bringing a lot of heat to the plate. The falafel balls appeared to have generous amounts of crushed red pepper flakes in them, which would explain the heat level. The wrap had a grainy texture that I think came from it being gluten-free, if I recall rightly. Due to its slightly crumbly structure it was barely able to restrain the falafel balls, cheese, & veggie stuffings. For this dish extra napkins should be at hand. I give the wrap 5 stars for being simultaneously tasty and spicy hot, as well as large enough to provide a substantial meal for me. Their chai tea was well flavored, with more clove taste shining through than most chai's I've had before. Nonetheless it would be an easy repeat order for me. Annapurna also gets bonus points for having filtered water dispenser available. Their desserts looked pretty good, but I didn't have room after the meal to try them. This Eubank location needs help. Today the weekend chef/part-time manager became argumentative with me after I tried to explain my order was missing items and had the wrong vegetable choices. At the end of an exhausting 10-minute discussion with him talking over me and gaslighting the agenda - my order (which was not edible) was refunded. This isn't the first time I've experienced customer service issues - On multiple occasions I've watched the employees at the Eubank location, standing around eating plates of food, and on their cell phones. When you're ready to order, you get a get a look of disdain as if you're interrupting. And what you're asking for is an imposition. The Silver Street and Santa Fe locations of Annapurnas, my first experience with this local gem, has the best vegan vegetarian food anywhere. The staff are friendly, and professional. The food arrives in a timely fashion, and is prepared with care. You feel good eating there and want to support them and return. The difference is night and day compared to the Eubank location. Until there is some change happening at the Annapurnas on Eubank, it is not worth the visit. Hope they get it together or another vegetarian - vegan option pops up in the heights. read more

Great atmosphere, Indian music, art (Shiva, Ganesh) and a cute teapot collection. Good service. I ordered one of the day's specials, which was (gluten free) enchiladas filled with butternut plus; you can butternut me anything. A black bean side was tasty but a little too spicy for me (just a preference). Portions were generous. Water without ice served, considered more healthy by many. Entrees between $10 and $15. I am so sad to say that this place has gone downhill and needs some serious attention. The last 3 times I have visited this location, I've had a bad experience. A 3rd time calls for making noise! To be fair, I walked in and placed a to-go order 15 minutes before closing. I hate being that last-minute customer, but it is what it is. Already inside the restaurant was a family of 4 who, prior to my arrival, had sent back a cheese pizza for it being burnt. As I sat and waited for my food, this family found a piece of plastic in another dish they had ordered and subsequently sent it back too. The poor family asked for a refund on the one meal and it took 2 different employees nearly 10 minutes to figure out how to refund them. Meanwhile, their cheese pizza was STILL being remade... 30 minutes later! At this point, the family got their entire tab refunded, wasted a bunch of time, and left mad and hungry. Then, I think I watched 2 of the employees stand behind the counter eating the cheese pizza that was left behind. Now what happened to me? Well, 25 minutes after I placed my order for a quesadilla and fries (the time is now 10 minutes after closing) my quesadilla was brought out, made incorrectly... of course! I didn't want to be like the other family and ask for a refund, so I politely asked them to remake my food. Little did I know I'd be waiting another 20 minutes! If it wasn't for my fries being fresh and delicious, they would have seen a lot worse from me than this review. I would have never chosen this place tonight if I knew it would take 45 minutes to receive a quesadilla and fries. Once I got home and dug into my quesadilla, the quality of the 20-minute-remake was less than expected. Before leaving, they were kind and offered me a free dessert, but it was after closing now so they had already removed their desserts from the display for the night. I was already tired of waiting! So I appreciate the offer and the effort, but it was a little too late for that. I know companies here in NM are having a hard time hiring back employees right now, but where is the management or ownership? We usually go to the 4th street location. We got an order to go and on the way home my wife mentioned that the people at this location were not as helpful. When we got home she ate only half of her food and said that if we had not gotten the food to go and had eaten there at the restaurant, it would have been one of the rare times that she would have sent the food back. In 25 years I have never seen her send something back because we usually just trade meals and it tends to work out fine, but I tried it and I didn't think it was good either. Her order was her usual order of a veggie burger that we eat at the other location. I was amazed that one location could do it so right and another location's version wasn't worth putting the calories into your body for zero enjoyment. My wife had to eat some Menchie's pineapple sorbet to "get the taste out of her mouth." Also, the person behind the counter did not ask if we had a devotee card, so I forgot...which was a bit annoying. Edit: I wish I would have read Samantha B's review before coming here, I think she said it better than I. My wife and I looked at some of the other reviews and some of the critical ones echoed our sentiments, especially Stacy W's that described the teenage girl strumming her fingers at the counter who appeared annoyed at the mere presence of customers (which was probably the same person that we met). If you look at the photos and pay attention to which ones were posted by the business owner and which ones were actual meals served to customers, there appears to be quite a difference in quality. We laughed a bit reading some of the reviews out loud to each other, but definitely decided we would not go to this location that is 5 minutes from our house and either go to Thai Vegan (which is also close) or make the trek to the 4th street location of Annapurna's. read more
