If you haven't experienced La Finca bowls, please do yourself the favor. They are only open Mon-Fri 11-3, I rarely get time off in those windows to catch them, but when I do... It's always build a bowl from La Finca. They have local, organic, farm to table ingredients. The staff is incredible, helpful, and always so welcoming. They make great suggestions and offer advice on what's been popular or is new on the line. They have a rotating selection of seasonal vegetables and local meats. It is a very small space, but they have great outdoor seating and they really make it work with what they have. They temporarily closed a few years ago and I was sincerely devastated. They have since come back better and stronger, with a cheese shop just down the street. I'm so excited about their success and look forward to eating there every chance I get. Came late in the day, with the sun shining directly in diner's eyes. Where was the staff to lower the blinds? You have to serve yourself water, and the tables outside were not wiped down, but full of crumbs. Order fast food style right at the counter before sitting down - a relic of the 2020 pandemic. And the tip is based on the purchase of food plus the state tax. they should have fixed this a long time ago. The $13 fish bowl had wild salmon on top of coconut rice, arugula, mango, papaya salad, edamame, green onion in a ponzu sauce. The salmon looked too pinkish to be wild, and lacked the orange-red color of wild salmon, and presented lukewarm. The sauce tasted way too salty, like it was soy sauce, and not like a sweet tangy ponzu sauce. Mango flavor pronounced throughout the bowl. Perhaps 3 ounces of salmon. Would not order again. The $12 farmer bowl had citrus flavored steak medium rare mixed with wild rice beans, squash, onions in an aioli sauce. The combination worked well despite the piece of steak that i sampled from my wife, which had gristle and fat. Or maybe she deliberately selected that piece. read more

Service was great. The cashier helped me navigate the menu and all the options. He even gave me a military discount after he asked if I had served. Very cool. I ordered the Build Your Own Bowl with double steak (6$ extra) - that's 8oz total. 1/2 coconut rice and 1/2 mixed greens, edamame, local mushrooms and some nice looking yellow squash, corn and chimichurri sauce on top. The steak was a bit on the salty side but the bowl tasted very good. I should've just stayed with the normal portion of meat, 4 oz, although the option to buy an additional 2 ounces of meat would've been a better option. The atmosphere was nice, inviting. Music playing, but not too loud was nice. The entire menu is gluten-free, which is hard, hard to find, anywhere. Major kudos to them for that! One thing you need to know about the owners of La Finca Bowls: They are fierce. They opened their dope little eatery just as the initial Covid quarantine started. And they opened this space in the tony neighborhood of EDo; however, they did so in an often-overlooked retail strip along Broadway between Tijeras and MLK. These challenges for even established places have been dire. But even so, the owners of La Finca Bowls have had faith in "build it, and they will come." Of course, it doesn't hurt that they have a great idea. They picked an underserved spot, and they've been popular from day one. Their place has been so popular that they are opening a cheese shop a few doors down. They hold the secret sauce. In that sauce, the owners have a positive attitude; they see the possibilities along EDo's Broadway thoroughfare that many others don't; they have created two excellent concept food places -- one in progress --; and have what it takes to be successful. Also in their favor are some city projects that will make this stretch of Broadway more accessible to pedestrians and bicyclists and an enticing place to be and be seen. Like their sister places of Farina, Artichoke, and Range Cafe. Three major projects are The Rail Trail (under construction) with a spur to this slight stretch of Broadway; transforming this segment of Broadway with bike lanes and calming traffic features; and expanding the science and engineering, research and development of Innovate ABQ. The worker reuses a pair of disposable gloves and started to cut a quarter of an avocado. GROSS!!! Next she orders beef for the protein. It was precooked and looked like it was boiled or steamed. No grill marks -no sear- no Maillard reaction. The order taker then skipped me and started to take the order for the person behind me so I wasn't even given a chance to order. I've heard lots of great things about this place but my experience was the worst. i used to love this place and always recommended it to others, but now it's just mid. my favorite was the La Finca Bowl. today was the first day i've been back after they had been closed for a period of time. i had my husband order for me since he was getting there first, and i asked him to order the La Finca Bowl.
