This place just open recently according to someone that I came across, since I was trying to find a place that I could come for teriyaki food. As I enter the place, everything looks nice and clean and very organized which I really appreciate. There were people just picking up orders to go. The gentleman that took my order was very nice and polite. Give me plenty of information regarding the food, especially since I'm allergic to beef and pork. I love how attentive he was and make recommendations based on that. The cooking are is cover with glass so it's not like you can missed what they're doing. Which I appreciate because then I know that they're actually being very clean with the handling of food. The food looked great and tasted even better. Perfect blend of spices and sauce. I really love this place. The food is good and a reasonable price. The goyza are not deep fried and that is a big plus in my book. They always greet us and everyone warmly. The food is freshly made to order. The dining room is pleasant but no frills. The tv is usually on a travel or nature show. Families are very welcome. I'm not local to Round Lake Beach, but we were there for a high school event. Not sure what to make of this place. The restaurant is clean and nondescript. You couldn't tell what style of cuisine they were serving. Staff is friendly and pleasant. What would I expect from a place called Teriyaki Sushi Grill? Something kinda in the realm of Japanese, perhaps? We tried the beef/shrimp teriyaki, the chicken teriyaki, and some maki rolls. The chicken teriyaki + fried rice totally works. It doesn't resemble anything authentic, but the portions are huge (like everyone else had said), cooked fresh on a griddle, and the flavors work. The beef is a tad tougher - it sits on the rice and some mixed veg slaw. The maki is just not... um, stay away from the sushi. It doesn't work. There was a fair amount of people there, plus a good amount of takeout orders. So this is something the locals "understand" but I don't. There are bags of chicharrones for sale and jarritos drinks are in the cooler, so this place certainly must know their audience more than me. read more

Delicious! I ordered the #1 with mushrooms and onions. I'm a big guy and can eat a lot but the amount of food is incredible. It can easily feed 2 adults maybe 3. The staff was very friendly and ordered in restaurant, with about a 5 min wait which I'm ok with considering they cooked it fresh. I've been here a few times and have been satisfied every time. My husband loves the cream cheese stars. I have had the sashimi garden and the nigiri platter several times and every time it has been great. Also, the portions are generous for the price. The service is very good. I really wanted to say I loved it in order to have a local go to sushi place. Sadly I thought it was just ok. Tried a few different rolls. California roll was a California roll, double the size. It was huge! Ten pieces. That was the highlight of the order. The spring rolls were egg rolls. 5 to an order but not much flavor. The other rolls I can't remember the names of. I usually only do good reviews unless something really stands out. The short version is tonight they lost or never gave the cooks our order. We waited 40 minutes before asking what's up after we saw people that came in after us get their orders. The cooks looked all confused as they took our receipt and looked around for our order and eventually said the order was being worked on. At this point (45 minutes waiting) we asked for a refund. I also asked for the manager or owner and the cashier said they are all family and all are the owners. So no one took ownership and apologized for the mistake. Frustrated, we took our refund and left to head for some crummy fast food as it was getting late. I would have expected a credit of some sort for wasting our time but none offered. So, we have no review for food (it looked good coming by us), but for service it's a clear 1 star. Suggest you get a clear answer on when exactly your order will be ready. If we didn't take action on our own, we would still be sitting there. Wish them luck as it is good to have more options in the area but I don't think we will be coming back. Tip: the parking for this place is not great. I don't think it was made for a lot of in/out restaurant activity. read more

The food is amazing and very fresh. While it takes a little bit it is beyond worth it. The serving sizes are large and definitely was multiple meals for me and even reheating it was delicious. The owner of this incredible restaurant used to work for my boyfriend and has just opened this restaurant roughly a month ago. He is very friendly and makes it seem like you are family when you walk in. Everything is very clean and bright. The restaurant is very comfortable and clean. Couldn't recommend this place more! Food was just so so - we both had teriyaki (one beef - one chicken) The teriyaki comes piled on top of rice and noodles. Would have been better had there been a little more meat added to the orders. Services was slow. There were no people in there when we walked in and ordered, but it still took close to 35 minutes to get food. There were 2 pick up orders ahead of ours but considering what little time it takes to cook this dish waiting 35 minutes was ridiculious. Other people came in after us and were served before we were - they might have called ahead who knows. We were going to ask for a refund and leave but the people on the grill asked what we were waiting for and after a bit of searching they found our order - which had not been started yet and had it cooked in minutes. Last, their prices are a bit high for teriyaki and for sushi. They wanted $18 and up for sushi rolls - really, in this day and age. We will not go back - I'd rather get sushi from Jewel or Meijer. Teriyaki Sushi Grill is a fairly new restaurant located on 83 tucked in an odd little strip mall between gas stations. We had shrimp yakisoba, chicken teriyaki and a salmon roll. Both meals were good. The shrimp and chicken were tasty and cooked well. There's a lot of food. The shrimp yakisoba was seasoned nicely and was our favorite of the three. The sushi roll was terrible. I can't even call it sushi. The roll was mostly overcooked, under-seasoned, mushy, sticky rice and flavorless. When we walked in, it smelled fishy. I've never been to a Japanese restaurant with that smell and was a little concerned with the freshness of the seafood. The person who took our order was grateful we tried their restaurant but we won't be back. read more
