Chicken Teriyaki Bowl
Vanessa H.

Great food for takeout tonight! I didn't go pick it up but my dad said it was quite busy. We ordered a few different bowls: chicken teriyaki, spicy tofu, teriyaki beef and spicy teriyaki chicken. We also got an order of potstickers. The bowls come with rice and assorted vegetables and you can get a double protein bowl that is about double the size of the regular bowl. Everything was super tasty! My picky daughter enjoyed the chicken teriyaki too. Prices are reasonable as well.

Teriyaki Madness, well, this location I feel has gone down in quality. I remember coming here a few times before and really enjoying the food and the freshness and the different take on teriyaki. But this visit was different. We dined in. So we ordered at the front. The employee was very friendly at the register. They weren't too busy for what should be a dinner time rush. We ordered the chicken katsu with fried rice and veggies, teriyaki chicken with fried rice and vegetables as a meal so it came with an eggroll and drink. And for an appetizer, we got the potstickers. Everything came out st the same time. The potstickers were soggy with a slight crunch. I prefer mine more crunchy. The chicken katsu is a generous portion of chicken and had good flavor. The teriyaki chicken bowl was swimming with teriyaki or water from he veggies so it made the rice soggy and the chicken portion with the teriyaki chicken was small compared to the katsu. The chicken lacked flavoring. Even though it had the teriyaki sauce something was just missing.

Work lunch at TM was great! Sooo let me get into it! The food at Teriyaki Madness was great the quality was defiantly worth every bit. Everything tasted so fresh and the veggies still had a bite to them and were not over cooked. The service was great as the person taking my order was very patient and helped my friend understand the menu. The atmosphere was alright only down side was that the flow on the right side near the restroom was very slippery. Overall, I would say TM is a great spot for a well crafted meal.

Chicken teriyaki with brown rice and veggies

Woohoo! A healthier fast food place that recently opened in Gurnee. Teriyaki Madness is located in the same plaza as Petsmart. It is where the old Penn Station used to be. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. I missed their soft opening and went on their 2nd opening day instead. At 5pm, there was a good crowd inside waiting for their to go orders. People were scattered mostly by the doors so it was a bit hard trying to figure out where the line was or who was actually in line waiting to order. Not much social distancing going on either. The space between the ordering area and the door is a bit small to begin with so there was nothing you can really do about that but something the store can think about when it gets super crowded. The group of young team members they hired taking orders and packaging were friendly and polite. They remember their Hellos and Thank You's. The girl who helped took my order knows the menu well and did a good job with making recommendations based on my preferences. Not sure if this happened the past two days but their online ordering system was down. I hope they have this fixed soon so people can grab and go and do curbside pick up. Obviously you can also call in and place your order over the phone but who does that anymore? (Haha :P ) Oh! They do have two parking spots reserved up front in the parking lot for curb side pick up. I ordered 2 chicken teriyaki regular size bowls. One with brown rice and one with noodles. Both had veggies in it. The brown rice was cooked well. It was soft enough but not over cooked or mushy. The noodles ($1 up charge) is the soft kind like lo mein. It was plain but had a good flavor to it. They also have a yakisoba noodle on their menu as well. The chicken is nicely grilled. The meat is not dry and does taste fresh. One thing they can improve on is cleaning the grill better so there aren't so many tiny burnt pieces that came with the chicken... The teriyaki sauce is more on the saltier side than sweet. And it does come with a side of extra sauce for you sauce lovers that like to drench your meat in teriyaki sauce. I know this may look like your food court meal like Cajun Grill in Gurnee Mills or Sarku at Hawthorn Mall but it is not. When you eat the teriyaki chicken and rice, it doesn't feel heavy or greasy like some of the other places. Nor is it super salty. One thing I love is the crispness of the veggies. It really compliments the rice and chicken. Yes, they were super busy! Please be a little patient! They told me the wait would be about 40 mins but don't let that scare you away! They were moving quick and I got my food in about 15-20mins. I didn't get sick (someone said they did ). The food was good and I will be returning to try their other options such as their orange chicken, tofu, chicken Katsu and Salmon. If you like beef, they do have that option as well. Appetizers choices: edamame , crab Rangoon, pot stickers and egg rolls. Welcome to Gurnee :)

Friendly staff. This place is definitely not going to last with this business model. I ordered the 2 protein plate large and felt like I got robbed. My chicken breast teriyaki chicken was burnt tasted ashy and stringy and had scant covering of the sauce and the orange chicken was also dry as well. I ordered it with noodles and guess they shoved in half bowl of steamed useless tasteless unseasoned vegetables that's not even covered in sauce. Egg roll tastes like it came from the grocery store freezer. Crab Rangoon nothing to write home about either. I ordered noodles and expected the entire bowl to be carb laden not this smallish amount vs the vegetables in there . Forgot to take a picture after eating realized I should have taken a picture when I opened the bowl. Not thrilled about places burning chicken and having it taste so ashy it really ruins the meat. Not much sauce to cover it up either.

Excellent, quick, healthy (depending on what you get) food that caters to multiple dietary restrictions.

Expect to wait at least a half hour for this take-out teriyaki. The food was delicious but the service was really lacking.

Even during slow times, service was horrendous. Bar is understocked. Could only make one mojito, didn't have the ingredients for a second. Children's portions are minuscule for the price. Was served very undercooked chicken. Thankfully I cut my chicken sandwiches in half before eating, and even in the dim lighting saw that it was not cooked through. Wasn't offered a different option... I called after the fact because I was told there was no manager to speak with and that someone would call me the next day. After about an hour on hold I got an empathetic manager who was able to give us some credits on our stay... but you couldn't pay me to eat there again.

Cocktails were ok. I orders the chili line chicken rice bowl. It was good but didn't necessarily seem to fit the description. It had rotisserie chicken in it which was different. It was just such a huge portion I felt like I barely ate half and I was full. My husband had a burger that he liked. My kids had pasta. It's pricey, but what do you expect for GWL. It was nice and quiet though which was nice.

I brought my best friend to try some wines and figure out what she likes, and it turned into such a great time. Bailey was such a sweetheart! Meh. I've been to one of these before and someone thought it would be nice to get us a gift card…read morehere because of our home wine collection. The place is always absolutely slammed from the tasting counter to the back. I just don't get the hype. It's a restaurant that has 50 private label wines and a "club". Is this "club" some sort of trendy status? Anyway, server was a pro. Appetizers were an orange chicken tasting calamari plate and a 5 mini meatball pan. Both were pretty good. Entrees were big and the menu is pretty large. Food was overall decent but a bit pricey. The wines are not very good. The "Lux" level are decent, but you are pushing $15 a glass to get there. I just don't get it. This place is also really loud. You can't have any type of conversation without shouting at each other. It's louder than a Texas Roadhouse. I spent my night leaning over to hear the person next to me and I was the messenger when people across the table wanted to talk to each other. Thank you for the gift card. It was used and appreciated. Next time get me one to one of the legacy places right across the street. Those are local owner operated and you can talk and enjoy some really good foods.
