We came for lunch on a Saturday with the family and it was just us. The service was incredible, super fast and friendly! We were all able to get soup or salad even though we only had one hibachi meal which was a really great surprise. My dragon roll was delicious! We came to celebrate my aunts birthday and when they heard, they brought out a lovely cake with candles! It was so adorable, highly recommend! Super clean, super fun, and super fast.

Food was over the top, service was great, and the drinks were delightful. Great place for a laid back quiet dinner. 100% recommend coming here.

The sushi was delicious. No complaints about that. We ordered a few martinis we asked for the ice pear and lychee martini they were out of both. Ok that's fine we went with the orange crush martini it was good. Only thing is was.. where's the rest of it ..the cups weren't even half full. The fried rice was delicious it's definitely a plate you can share with someone else. The Osaka happy hour you can also definitely share with others it's like big fish bowl drink

Great option to get sushi in Grayslake, about the only option in fact. It's hidden away in this shopping plaza. Umai previously occupied another space in this plaza, but the new location is a lot better and more spacious. Has a good amount of menu choices. There's more than just sushi, like the stuff they cook on a hibachi. At lunch it wasn't busy. It only had a few others eating inside. They had an all you can eat sushi special. Kind of pricy but worth it if eating it all. We instead only got a few rolls. It's about $5 for the cheapest. The ones we got included the Avocado Roll and the Oshinko Roll. Also there's a complimentary soup and salad bar. This makes it place a pretty good value for getting all this. For this area it's about the only option for sushi. so they won't have to worry about competition. It's not just the sushi but also the other Japanese cuisine that makes it one of the best around here. The sushi rolls have the raw fish options, as well as things for vegetarians.

I and my husband have been twice so far. First time, during the soft opening then about a week later. They have the same basic setup as the previous restaurant in this space had. But have brighter lighting which really helps. They chose to use the large grill to serve hibachi which works really well. Both times I and my husband chose to get hibachi entrees. My husband really liked the chicken and salmon. I opted for salmon and shrimp. The hibachi is served with yum yum type of sauce. The second time I went I got some of the ginger sauce from the salad bar and used it as well. The meat is well seasoned and the fried rice is good. The salmon is particularly good. Though I do admit I miss having golden shrimp as an option. We also got the Beef Negimaki appetizer and it was easy for him to pick out the negi (onion) from it. I highly recommend getting this. Very delicious. Only glitches we have had was during their soft opening they were slammed and our meal took a very long time. The second time the hibachi chef didn't leave out the onion in my husband's food and the waiter felt he had to justify himself for showing my husband he had written it down. I have yet to have the sushi but based on the rolls passing by our tables I'll be ordering some nigiri next time.

Food was delicious! The salad bar was really limited and some things were out. The chicken katsu was pricey for what it was as well. The ramen was delicious, my daughter really enjoyed her noodles, and I loved the chirashi. Very fresh and good selection. The roll was also really good. We will be back!

First we park and at the door and there is an open sign above door that says open but this door is for employees ONLY!!! Why have a neon illuminated signed for an entrance that customers CAN'T use???? That was the initial impression but we gave this place a chance anyway and I'm sorry to say that we should've just took that a sign and left. Then once my party of six gets into the restaurant it's dark and gloomy as the ambiance to say the least. It's my birthday today, kids started spring break and it's snowing outside so we said why not go to a local restaurant for lunch? Our ONLY MISTAKE was choosing this place. I asked for a drink and was told drinks were not available. We walked right past a bar with drinks and on our menu has drinks so why are there no drinks???? I didn't bother entertaining why there were drinks I just had a beer and some water. We order appetizers, sushi, ramen, fried rice and hibachi; the food was okay nothing spectacular at all. It The Gyoza was the best thing they had going for them. The hibachi was for chicken and shrimp but because the order was for two proteins(chicken/shrimp) the lunch special was not honored, not to mention the portions were so small it looked like a meal for a child, so once we were told it was the dinner price(when we got the bill and asked) because lunch only has one protein. We ask how many shrimp come with lunch and we're told two(2). This place is a joke. The whole time while there the waitress was saying she's so tired and it obvious that something is wrong but what is wrong is unclear. Towards the end of our meal the waitress puts on a mask. We are like wow if she knew she was sick, not feeling well or whatever why not stay home from work, why not put on a mask or do something. Now not only was our meals and service subpar we may even get sick from this visit. Totally NOT worth the time, energy, money or experience.

This was a a mixed experience for sure. I had Lovely Thai on my list... but I have a Thai spot I…read morelove, albeit far from here, so I never got there. The Google results still reference the old name and this Yelp page still shows the reviews for the old name so I'm not sure if this is just a fresh branding or actually a new concept or what. That confusion aside, I placed a takeout order online. Afterwards I realized I was charged a fee for this so if I order here again it'll be by phone... they also ask for a tip despite no service being involved which I think we're all pretty sick of. I ordered a chicken Thai basil entree, wonton soup, and the appetizer sampler. 50+ dollars when all was said and done which seemed like a lot for the quantity honestly. The email said my food would be ready in 30 minutes, it was faster. That's good technically but if you planned around that your food would be cold by the time you picked it up so just head right over after ordering. It only took 15 minutes, possibly 20. Walked in after getting my message that my food was ready but no one was at the counter. I think I waited 5 minutes for a worker to show up and hand me my order which was just sitting in front of me anyway. Can you tell we're not off to a great start? I get my food home and fix myself a plate with some of everything. VERY hit or miss. Let's talk the sampler first. Fried shrimp rolls were pretty good. Executed well if just a bit bland. Egg rolls were sad, just not very good and really no substance to them. Potstickers are small and just ok. Worst Crab Rangoon I've ever had. Tiny, not crunchy, a teaspoon of cream cheese for filling and certainly no discernable crab whatsoever. Hard pass on those and this sampler platter as a whole. The wonton soup was a slight improvement. Nice broth with a strong garlic flavor I enjoyed and tasty dumplings. The pork in it was dry and not worth eating but not awful, but this was basically a small soup for 15 dollars and it was pretty average. I'd expect more quality and/or quantity at that price point. Now, my Thai basil entree was the standout. And it REALLY stood out. This was great! Maybe the best iteration of this dish I've had, and it's my go-to Thai dish. I ordered medium spicy 2 times on their online ordering system, it asks 2 times and I'm not sure why. One was listed as "food prep" the other had no listing so I was, again, confused. I just locked it in twice and hoped for the best and it was perfect! I like it hot enough to clear my sinuses but it's a fine line and this hit the mark. Flavor, heat level, doneness, all nailed. It came with a small white rice that wasn't very fresh. The place has a fair amount of tables but it was quiet and awkward in there. They need some music or something. So yea, this place is kind of all over the place. Would I come back for that Thai basil? I definitely will. Would I recommend anything else I ate? Not really. Overall I wasn't impressed with the price to quantity ratio, and the quality didn't do much to make up for that. Maybe stick to authentic Thai dishes when ordering here and skip the generic Asian dishes. They DO offer sushi and a few other Japanese dishes and I didn't try any of that, so I can't speak on that side of the menu.

Our 21-month old granddaughter was along so we had to be a bit circumspect in our choice. But my wife and I both like Japanese fare and our granddaughter, whose Mom is Korean, gets a lot of that type of food at home. The location of this place is in a strip plaza tucked away in a non-descript commercial area. It was not too difficult to locate with GPS. The interior was well-kept and made a good impression on entry. Located in a single storefront slot, it was not too surprising that it was narrow in layout. It could probably be described as cozy. We were seated right away and our server attended to us quickly. She did an exceptional job taking care of us during our visit. The food was delivered promptly and was ready to eat with no problems. We started with the Asparagus Beef Maki, which was excellent. Served in a soy-based sauce, it was very tasty. For entrees, we tried a Bento Box (Box C) and a Dinner combo (Combo C). Both featured tempura and sushi. We both gave thumbs-up to these. We were able to feed our granddaughter from our portions amd have some to take home as well. With food, drinks, tax and tip, our total was $76. At roughly $38 per person (cheaper on a per-person basis really, since we fed a toddler as well), this was a good deal. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.

We tried three different wobbly chairs before giving up and settling for the least unstable one. It took 40 minutes just to get water, and over an hour for our drinks. Mine didn't arrive until the manager stepped in--75 minutes after ordering. When our appetizer finally showed up 90 minutes in, the "stuffed mushrooms" were cold, undercooked, and missing the sausage entirely. We sent them back because there was nothing edible about them. The soup tasted good, but it arrived more than an hour into the meal--and came with burnt pieces on top, which is especially ironic considering the fire alarm was going off at the time. The alarm was blaring directly above our heads, and two families walked out during the chaos. We should have followed. The salads we ordered never arrived. Multiple menu items we attempted to order weren't available, including the salmon for the salmon salad and the prime rib sandwich. At that point, the menu felt more like a list of things they used to serve. After two hours of waiting, missing dishes, unavailable items, and nonstop disruptions--on a birthday, no less--we finally walked out. And despite everything, we still tipped our waiter because it was painfully clear the chaos wasn't entirely his fault. We walked next door to Emil's, where the difference was night and day. We were seated immediately, treated kindly, served a full meal in under 45 minutes, and they even surprised my friend with a free birthday dessert to salvage the night. Emil's saved what Center Cut completely destroyed.
