On 4/4/25, I had a very disappointing experience with Terminix that I still cannot believe happened. At the time, I was home sick and dealing with mice in my basement. I agreed to a rodent exclusion service that cost $1,543. Based on the price and the way the service was presented, I believed this would be a thorough and extensive job performed by specialists. Instead, an elderly technician arrived with what looked like a Home Depot bucket, a tube of silicone, and a small amount of steel wool. He spent about one hour at my home and covered approximately seven small areas. I was shocked by the lack of work performed compared to the price charged. The service was also marketed as a year-long service agreement where they would return if needed to inspect the sealed areas. I tried to move past my disappointment, but when the year expired on 4/4/26, Terminix automatically charged me another $274 for a renewal. While I may have been verbally informed about auto-renewal at signup, I never received a reminder email, text, phone call, or courtesy notice before being charged again. The most frustrating part has been trying to resolve this. We have called four separate times attempting to cancel the service and request a refund for a renewal on a service we never used. So far, we have gotten nowhere. I'll admit that during the last call I became frustrated and raised my voice at a representative who personally was not responsible for the situation, and I regret that. However, after being a loyal Terminix customer for over 20 years for annual service, it is extremely upsetting to feel ignored and taken advantage of by a company we trusted. Charging over $1,500 for what amounted to about an hour of minimal work, then continuing to bill for a service we neither used nor wanted renewed, feels completely unreasonable. Promising a refund and then clawing it back based on a technicality is not just poor service, it is deceptive. At that point, I tried to cancel altogether. Then came the final insult: a $275 cancellation fee for a brand-new service I had just been steered into by their own representatives. So to recap: continued billing without notice, a promised refund that was quietly denied, and a costly exit fee after being pushed into a new contract. This is not just bad customer service; it feels like a deliberate strategy to lock customers in and extract as much as possible. I strongly advise anyone considering Terminix to look elsewhere. This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with! They schedule appointments without asking you. If you aren't home you have to call back to reschedule. Or they don't come when an appointment is scheduled. I purchased an exclusion contract that was supposed to seal all entry points against mice. It took me weeks to get someone to come to replace the seal on my garage door. It has come off and I cannot get them to come back. I also now have a wood rat problem. I finally got a message telling they are short staffed. An appointment was scheduled for today. No one came. When I called I was told there is an appointment scheduled for the 15th. They will not give me the number of my branch in Newburgh NY so I can speak to the manager. I have cancelled my routine pest control service. Unfortunately, I paid in full for the exclusion service. I am going to lodge a complaint with the BBB. read more

Appointment was CONFIRMED by phone with technician who was supposed to come and give an estimate. He didn't show up. My nightmare. I don't write reviews but I'm compelled to this one time. I am having an absolute horrible, worst 2 year experience With Terminix. I purchases termite and pest control service in a house I owned in Suffolk County, NY. I sold my house in May 2021 and formally informed Tetminix to cancel service for the obvious fact that I DIDNT LiVE there anymore. I continued to receive periodic charges for months! I disputed on my credit card, but charges would resurface. I contacted Terminix several times, even received formal e mail notification that my plan was cancelled. Latest cancellation e mail confirm went back to Aug 2022. I have the e mails! Yet, I CONTINUED to receive periodic charges even to today. Nothing worked to resolve this. Today, I had enough and got into a nasty tiff with a Terminix chatbot. After, several vague, generic and unhelpful chat responses, a 'real person'' finally responded on text - claiming I didn't cancel service, even after I showed the cancellation mail!!! Please everyone, if you feel compelled to continue to use Terminix and you are ever planning on selling your home, get in front of these people way beforehand, to avoid the same nightmare that I'm living! We initially contacted Terminix to remove a yellowjacket hive in the walls of our house. They sprayed chemicals and informed us that they would return within 5 days for a follow-up, assuring us that the chemicals would be effective by then. However, after 5 days, we could still hear the yellowjackets, and Terminix did not return until we called them again. They told us their work was guaranteed for 30 days, so we attempted to resolve the issue within that time frame. They came back to spray again, but it still had no effect. Today, we reached out once more for a resolution, but they claimed we hadn't contacted them within the 30-day period and therefore they could no longer provide service. This is incorrect, as we had called or texted them multiple times Without getting response. They are now refusing to issue a refund. DO NOT use this company!!! Its a scam!!! read more

I happened to be home that day and figured: why not. let him make his commission and an outside spray can't hurt. all for $109. That turned into a pain in my a*s!! I called them for roaches in kitchen. They applied a bait which did not change anything for 2 months. Then they sprayed the kitchen and nothing changed in 2 months. I did not see any dead bug! The technicians that have come to my house are great! I love the pest control guy. He is very friendly and has taken care of many things. I've had dealings with customer service as well. It seems even though I pay once a year, there have been some charges that keep getting added a month and I have to call to get them cleared. This has happened three times. I had to be a PEST: I am (WAS) a customer for many years but when I had an ant infestation I was told that the next appointment was in two weeks! I made the appointment, and Terminex came, but the ants did not seem to notice. (No impact). I made a second appointment for a week after and they were NO-SHOW.... when I called again I was told that the next appointment was SEVERAL MORE WEEKS. Crazy. I am done with Terminex. Apparently the national office has no sway wiith the Plainview office, and I was told there was no way to reach them directly. (I called another local firm and they came the SAME DAY.... We noticed mice and ants a few months ago so we called Terminix. Their inspector/sales rep sold up services that cost us $5000. After 3 months of their service we still have mice and ants. Not reliable maintenance for mosquitos throughout the spring summer. Last appointment was over six weeks ago and only scheduled after I called multiple times to see where they were. Oh, by the way they were supposed to come YESTERDAY to make up for the last missed appointments (Before the holiday weekend) , guess what they were a "NO SHOW" and they didn't even call, just blew me off as usual. Very mixed review follows. After getting ants in the house, we contacted Terminix and the techs. Anthony and Albert, for General Pest control, that have come to lay baits and spray have been informative, personable and timely. Calling for them to come back after a rain or cold snap brings the ants in again has been easy, with most extra visits scheduled within two days. The Termite Plan is another story. About 16 months ago, after losing still another above ground pool liner to termites (yes, the liners are cellulose based and if you google it you will find that termite destruction is not uncommon) we decided to go with Terminix for termites as well. Of course there is some sort of law prohibiting the poisoned baits to be placed around the pool, only around an inhabited structure, but the hope was that the termites would find the baits and bring them back to their nest. The first quarterly visit came at 8am, six hours before they were supposed to show, and the letter in the mailbox stated it found no evidence of termites. Three months later, I noticed again that a Terminix truck had parked out front, five hours before we expected them. This time I followed the gentleman around. Nice guy, chatty, but I realize later that he only inspected 8 of 12 baits, again finding no sign of termites eating the stuff. For the third scheduled quarterly inspection, I placed small sticks or a pebble, oriented north, on most of the baits. Again, despite an afternoon scheduled inspection, they came first thing in the morning, judging from the letter that was intermixed with my mail. No evidence of termites found says the letter. ALL of the sticks and pebbles were present. I suppose the inspector could have meticulously replaced them, carefully orienting them north. When numerous renewal emails and letters started coming six months ago, I ignored them. This Monday I received an email from Terminix indicating they were coming Friday at noon to inspect the termite baits ! I got on "CHAT" with a Brittany, who rescheduled Terminix to 3PM Friday to just pull the baits, assuring me that they would fill the holes with soil (what are the odds they will ?) Today, a Wednesday, a Terminix truck pulled up to retrieve the baits. I told the guy three times its scheduled for Friday between 3 and 5, to have a nice day, and turned my back to him. I think I should have read the Yelp reviews first !! read more

We've been a Terminix customer for many years in three different homes. We've used them to remove a tremendous bees nest, crickets, carpenter ants and mice and termites. They provide timely service, the technicians are always thorough and friendly. If I need repeat service, they come out in a matter of days. Long Island, NY office is filled up with 100% rude and customer enemy people who dont know how to deal with customers and be a professional. It was so annoying to deal with them that I really had to shout and be abusive. Headquarter is worst them the local branch. The reps speak to you very nicely to start with and promise to resolve your issue and after put you on hold while they talk to local branch, and immediately change their color and just say what local branch want them to say without taking any step towards resolution. For them their local branch is every thing and customer does not have any say even if you are 100% right and local branch is wrong. Never never use them. The worst pesticide/termite control company on the island ever faced. After having a contract with them for 15 years and paying all dues/renewal on time, they terminated our contract today and asked me to go some where else after knowing that there may be some insect/pest activity at the property. They asked me to pay another $1400 to treat the property and restart the contract again from scratch with high annual price. I paid them $300 every year for almost 15 years and they only visited the property once a year during the contract term and never treated it but will charge you full amount every year. Once you complain about any activity or request for another service, they will create some kind of story and ask you to pay extra money and then again restart the contract with higher charges. The local Long Island office is very very rude, non professionals and only sitting here to eat your money. Each and every one in local Long Island branch, including their manager, inspector is very very rude. If you call their headquarter, no one is there to resolve your issue, rather listen to their local branch office and will dictate their terms. I am taking them to court for all what they did with us. I am surprised that after being a national level company and part of ServiceMaster group, there is no proper management and professionalism with Terminix and they dont care about their customer. ServiceMaster should be alerted and take some actions before they go out of business. Bottom line is that if you want to be cheated and then on top of that disrespected, please call terminix today. This has to be one of the worst companies to do business with. Wish I would have checked with Yelp first. I have been trying to cancel my service for over a month! Initial service date was in MAY. They came back two weeks later, but didn't do anything - literally, said they would be back. By July I was DONE waiting for them and for a call back. When I heard back, I said I wanted to cancel as I was dissatisfied with their lack of service and response and I was told someone needed to come back out if I wanted to cancel ... ??? why now? Today is Aug 30th and I am still waiting for a refund (paid in full) and for confirmation that my plan is cancelled. Save your coins! This is one instance where a BIG name is nothing but a scam. Called these people for an infestation, scheduled an inspection and it was a run around to get them to come to the inspection. Apparently they only have 1 manager at the branch near my location and they barely have any workers. For such a large company, I can't imagine how. A guy eventually showed up days later for an inspection. After the inspection, we tried to schedule an extermination date. Not only was it difficult to schedule a date ASAP, but it was also difficult to pay them over the phone (truly a blessing in disguise). They gave us a date they would send their team in only for them to cancel the day off!!! At this point, my family and I followed their instructions to pack up everything etc so we were inconvenienced for 1 week. After they canceled on us, they said they would call the next day to see what they could do....still to this day, NO CALL. We decided to go with a small company who were more than capable and efficient. This is now 2 weeks later, still no call from Terminix. All I could imagine is what if I had paid all that money for terrible service. I will tell anyone I know to stay away from this business. I usually don't leave reviews but they were that bad! They come whenever they want to just so they fulfill the appointment my area technician " Nathan " comes early am around 7 am when we are in our P.J'S having coffee on the patio and when we asked him to spray the inside he refuses and says it's not in today's schedule , you have to request it and when we do they don't show up. .when I requested certain date to come when I'm home they don't and just come anytime they wan to and they never came inside for spray .finally after year and half back and forth with them today , I had an appointment to treat inside as well as outside and stayed home waiting , they came by , park the car outside never rang the doorbell never came in and just left ! When I callled to complain was told he knocked the door and had no answer . Well I have a door bell that he never warns the door bell . seriously they just want your money . Called to schedule an appointment for carpenter ants, I made it clear that I did not want to commit to an annual contract, I only wanted the initial treatment and would contact again if needed. Sales person said no problem, took my credit card info and scheduled appointment. Service guy shows up and before looking at anything he tried to have our nanny sign contract. She informs him that she needs to call me before signing and he tells her no, she already knows what it is. Thank goodness she called me, I explained to him what the sales person informed me and of course he says they never do one time treatment, always require annual contract etc. I told him no thanks, and he said he would have rep or manager call me, of course no one ever called. I was so unhappy with the service I received from this company. I had called on a Thursday requesting service the following Monday for an termite inspection that I needed done ASAP in order to refinance my home. I was told by the employee that someone would be at my home Monday morning and that they'd call to confirm. Monday morning I sat around my house with my 2 children under the age of 5 waiting for someone to show up. When 11am rolled around and no one had come I called customer service and was told I would get a call back. More waiting and waiting. Around 3pm I called back to only find out that I did not have a reservation. Whomever I spoke to Thursday had put a "request" for an appointment but never "confirmed" it! What a waste of a day. Now freaking out that I needed to have the paperwork submitted the next day I spoke to a manager who said someone would be there the next morning. At 9am the following day a terminex employee knocked on my door. When I opened the door the worker was cranky, and not very happy to have to do his job. When he asked the kind of inspection I needed he sighed and complained about it. Fast forward to after the inspection and I was told that even though he found signs of treatment around the property he found damage and couldn't tell me if I had active terminates but that he'd recommend a treatment because the kind of inspection I needed was a VA inspection which they tend to be strict. He entered my home still very grumpy and sat down to tell me that I'd have to pay $1800 plus $150 for the va paper he needed to fill out for my refinance. At this moment I was shocked. $1800 for a treatment of termites he didn't even know were even there? I told him I had to think about it and said to just give me the paperwork for the VA. I submitted the paper to the company and was told we needed the treatment done because the worker from terminex had checked the box "treatment recommended" even though he wrote no active termites seen. I thought this was very sketchy and called a local pest company a friend recommended when she heard what have happened. The owner of the company came and did another inspection. He came to me after and told me that there was no way I needed a termite. He told me terminex had in fact treated my property years ago when the old owner was living there and could see the bates they had put down. So this guy from terminex was full of crap and was just trying to make commission from me. I feel completely taken advantage of. Luckily we were able to pay this other company another $150 to have another paper filled out saying that he did not recommend treatment. I can not believe the dishonesty in this employee. I almost paid $1800 for a service I did not need. I will never use this company again and I recommend that no one else does either. So totally confused by this company and how they work...Called as we had fleas (thank you dogs!) Spoke to a woman who told me I had to sign up for a year contract. Fine. She gave me a price and said the man would be out the next day to spray and take care of the problem. Arranged for the dogs to get flea dips the next day and would stay out of the house for two days. The man shows up, walks around with a flashlight and tells me he does not see fleas. Tells me I don't need to spend so much on a year contract and to get bug bombs from Trio and do it myself so I can save money. I get bombs and do this. Still have fleas. Three days later, I get a call from them asking how the problem is--I tell them it is worse. I speak with Michael whotells me he is new. He tells me if I have fleas it will be an extra $450 for the year. Why didn't anyone tell me this when I made the origianal appt? Then he tells me three times he has to call his supervisor to approve this, that he first needs to come to my house to get a sample, that they will send me to collections if I try to stop the contract....I just keep asking him to make an appointment. He asked me at least 5 times if I was sure it was fleas. I have had dogs for 40 years--I know fleas. At some point do you trust what the customer is saying and make an apointment to come exxterminate?????After he told me he had to call his supervisor yet again, I told him I need to go elsewhere. Maybe he needs more training, maybe the man who came to my house did not know what to look for (should have asked to see our flea bites!) maybe the woman who made the original appt neded to tell me if it is fleas that it would cost another $450? Scheduled service with this branch in Plainview, NY. Customer service was the worst I have encountered in my life. They sent an inspector right on time in their time frame window, so that they would try to sell me extra services. The service I actually paid for, no one has showed up. Spoke to Joanne on the phone was told she only takes care of inspections, but she had been my contact calling me several times telling when my service was scheduled, even telling me if I did not call her back I might not get my service I paid for. I had to ask Joanne 5 times for someone to speak to about my service. She gave me the 1800 number on the website, so now I am hold for 25 minutes. The manager Maryann was equally incompetent and useless. The manager did not do suggest anything until I asked her to call the serviceman to find out where he was. I AM THE CUSTOMER, I should not be trying to figure out ways to make their customer service and professionalism reach even an adequate level. The BBB, Angies list will be hearing from me.
