Wow. Where do I even begin. The bruschetta was an incredible start to this dining experience as an appetizer. I then followed it up with the Polo Cesare for my entrée and wow. Just wow. I have gotten wraps from every restaurant I have been to in the past one to maybe two years and this is by far the best wrap I have EVER had in my 20 years in this Earth. Like honestly this wrap made me rethink my entire life and ask why I never came here sooner. Probably because I live in America, but that is beside the point. It was so incredible that I had to write this review before I even left the restaurant. Terra Cotta is a stable of Windsor. They have a wide variety of choices for delicious BRICK OVEN pizza, and if you don't like their choices, feel free to make your own! This restaurant also allows you to make substitutions - often at no cost, depending on what it is. The prices are very affordable, and they even have specials. Tuesday is 2 for 1 pizza, and Wednesday is 2 for 1 with a valid student ID. The service is incredibly friendly as well. While there are many great things about Terra Cotta, I do have a few qualms. No free-refills on pop. I don't know many places that still charge for re-fills. Pop is marked up so much in restaurants, that no place should be charging for seconds in my opinion. The dining room is very small, so I would ALWAYS recommend reservations. The wait is really long, (sometimes to get in) and then for the pizza. Can't complain about that too much though b/c there's only so much room in that brick oven. Lastly, on multiple occasions I've had problems with their phone system, trying to order lunch or make reservations. They may have that fixed by now though. But, while Terra Cotta is not Windsor-style pizza per se, it is a Windsor classic, and, without question, some of the best pizza to be had in in the Win City. Intimate setting with a quite affordably priced beer and wine list and a range of pizza options to suit those of the simplistic taste and those with more ambitious palates. Hands down this little gem is worth the trip. The place is small but the flavors found inside are BIG! Fantastic, thin, chewy, foldable crust. I ordered a Margherita pizza which is just a cheese pizza, no fresh mozzarella or fresh basil so I thought I would be disappointed. I was so wrong! I took one bite and recognized the masterpiece. Tomato, garlic, oregano, perfectly melted cheese on that mild, foldable, non-cracker thin crust. The sausage on the pizza is so delicious. Authentic Italian sausage. Goes to show you that you don't have to be Italian to make good pizza if using good, quality ingredients & keeping it simple. We had the loveliest server. She hustled all night but never lost her wonderful attitude. She should give all those in the service industry a lesson on how it's done. This is not a fancy restaurant by any means. So I like pizza but I typically find "gourmet" pizza places try way too hard to transform this dish into something it isn't like healthy fine dining and it tends to be bland. If I want healthy I'll get a salad. New York/Montreal per slice style pizza (even Costco pizza... do they have a Costco in Windsor???) is typically much better than any gourmet place I've visited. My friend insisted we go to Terra Cotta on a 2 for 1 Tuesday and I was skeptical as this was described as "gourmet" and secondly 2 for 1 deals usually mean you get a "half the toppings crap pizza". With their wood burning oven who the hell knew Windsor has the best pizza on this planet? Its exactly what pizza (or gourmet pizza) should be. Thin crust, fresh, full of flavor (the sea food one rocks), the a perfect blend of everything. ORGASMIC !!! Need more flavor then ask for their hot sauce. Then when you think that was awesome try their home made Tiramisu!!! We went back two days later... sadly no 2 for 1, but good news the regular price of the pizza is roughly what Whole Foods in Vancouver sell a frozen pizza for. Oh, and the service was excellent. Awesome thin crust gourmet pizza. We usually go on Tuesdays which is buy one get one free. Their dinning room is a bit too small but for how cheap this pizza is and how good it tastes you can easily look past that. We went to a place tonight here in Edmonton (Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria) hoping it would be as good as Terra Cotta pizza and it failed completely. This place is great. The pizza is really really delicious. Plus they have sweet 2 for 1 deals throughtout the week which makes it not so pricey (cause it's definetly a pizza per person place) Very satisfied in all areas here. I'd say it's one of the best pizza places in Windsor, which is impressive cause there's a lot of good pizza here. I've heard some people complain about the service but I've never had an issue (in person or on the phone). Make sure to call for reservations if you're going around dinner time on Tuesday (2for1) since they'll probably be busy. Since they are usually busy and only have the one oven wait time is usually 30-60mins so it's best to bring good company, once the pizza company out it is usual for not much talking to be done. An excellent example of a downtown business that just keeps going strong. Terra Cotta has been around forever and consistently produces great food at a great price with great service. Brick Oven Pizza (or thin crust or Neapolitan) is a wonderful style - when done right. And this restaurant has been getting it right for more than a decade. I've been going here regularly since the dawn of the time and have never walked away dissatisfied. Chanoso's could learn a lot from these guys when it comes to hiring from the hipster crowd. Yes, alot of the staff at Terra Cotta wear ugly vintage clothing and have way more piercings and tattoos than anyone need ever get - but they also remember that they have a job to do. So the hipster attitude is left at the door. I've always found the waitstaff to be friendly and efficient and the hipsters making the food put their full love into every pizza they're sliding into that brick oven. If there's anything detrimental to my dining experience there it's that I do wish they'd pick up and move to a larger location. It is a pretty small dining room for the amount of business they get. Anyone suffering from claustrophobia or agoraphobia could have some serious problems enjoying a meal there! But, other than that, I can't heap on enough praise on this place. As many have said, the pizza, here, is superb. Easily, the best pizza you will find of this particular type. But also some of the best pizza you can find in the entire city! You need to check them out on 2 form1 Tuesdays but be sure to call ahead for a reservation because they are packed. I would say their pizza is among the best in Windsor at this time, ever since Enzo's switched locations and lost their stone oven in the process. I wish I could have tried their pizza and it looked absolutely wonderful. Upon arriving, the hostess was ridiculously rude. We had a large party, did not make a reservation and even apologized for it. There were only 4 people in the restaurant at the time and they could have simply put a few tables together. Even though we were extremely polite, the hostess continued to acerbically inform us that we would have to wait over an hour and snapped that we should have made a reservation. Had heard a lot about the pizzas so decided to go their for our monthly get together. My friends tried to make a reservation and left 2 voicemails. When we did reach their the particular day waitress was extremely rude and said that they don't take 10 guests at one time. It's a small restaurant but the restaurant was empty at that time. She decided to seat us very reluctantly. Her attitude was very cold throughout. It was like she was doing us a favor serving us. The pizzas were good. The only saving grace. We gave this place a shot a 2nd time based on a 'terrible service with good food' experience previously. First time the waitress was extremely rude but the pizza was decent (this was over a year ago). It is hard to find great wood fired pizza locally so we decided to take our guest across the border to Windsor and give this place another chance. Our party of three arrived 5 minutes after they opened at 4:30 PM and were told that the best they could do was 3 hours later. Aside from two tables being seated, the restaurant was completely empty. The woman refused to budge and became hostile towards us. We ended up getting 3 pizzas to go and ate them in the car as this was our only available option. The pizza itself was overcooked and underwhelming. The crust was like a cracker with very little sauce and cheese. I know what wood fired pizza is supposed to be like and this is an utter embarrassment. Seems like there might have been some changes made to the quality of the ingredients (same waitress, same guy manning the oven). Unfortunately, this has become an expensive place to get a terrible pizza served by an abusive waitress. Will not be back. read more

One of the best local pizzerias in Windsor. I don't normally have a favourite restaurant, but my love for Italian food and pizzas has been brought to new heights. The pizzas are simply amazing, I have never had my order mishandled or the pizzas taste bad. Rather, the pizzas take on a complimentary essence from the Terra Cotta oven that they use to bake them in, which is wonderfully delicious. The service is spectacular as well with courteous and friendly wait staff. They offered me useful suggestions and check on you often to see how the food and service is. The prices are very reasonable, especially on Tuesdays (2 for 1 pizzas) and on Wednesday again for students. Appetizers are delicious as well, and they offer a large assortment of beverages from beers, to Italian sodas. The restaurant although rather small can still produce a great atmosphere, but when it is crowded the noise level can make conversation a bit difficult. The decor is simple, and rustic with elements of local art-- very quaint and welcoming. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to any pizza (or food) lover who is looking for unique and delicious pizzas. I used to love this place for years. My last visit will be the final one though. Their service was terrible. Four diners, 3 pizzas, and one salad. The salad, which was the main for one person, was 20 minutes later than the pizzas. They said the salad was on them, fine. When we were almost done the meal, we asked to order 2 more pizzas to go. The waitress took our order and said it would be 30-40 minutes because they had other take out orders and other tables to make first. Fine. An hour later, no word from waitress on ETA, we went up to the front to pay. That horrible waitress never even placed that order in! I didn't say anything to the hostess, and the waitress looked sheepish like she purposely didn't place our order. I'll just leave this review and go elsewhere for better pizza and better service. read more

This was quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. It took over 45 minutes to get our pizza order even though there weren't very many people ahead of us at that time. Others who came in later were served before us. When our pizzas did arrive The toppings were burnt and very dry. This was probably the worst pizza I have ever had. Also the hot water for my tea was lukewarm. The waitress was terrible! She was unfriendly and inattentive and could care less whether we were unhappy. Apparently we were supposed to be ecstatic that we were getting two-for-one which wasn't by the way such a great deal. They also would not allow us to pay separately for our pizzas. To add salt to the wound I requested to speak to the owner. He was a very ungracious and indifferent man. My complaints were ignored, excused with sarcasm. I was told they had the best pizza in Windsor. I was so angry and disturbed that a business could continue to operate successfully with such substandard food and service.
