We were really happy with our backyard makeover from Terra-Sol. We had hired a landscape architect to design our makeover, then hired Terra-Sol to carry out the design. Dave came out, took measurements, talked to us about some options, and provided a quote within a day or two. We were essentially removing an old retaining wall and patio and updating it with a new retaining wall and patio, plus moving the fence line, and putting in some gravel pathways with large boulders. They started the work when they said they would, were great about communication, and Freddie and his team worked tirelessly for 2 weeks to complete the job. We made several changes mid-project and the team was flexible and helpful in carrying out the plans. We even decided to add a slate path hours before the job was complete, assuming they'd have to come back another day to finish the path, but he said he could get the materials that day, left, came back with the stones, and put in the path in a matter of hours. They still finished on time. I can't speak to the competitiveness of his pricing. We were too busy to get multiple quotes, but my brother-in-law is familiar with home renovation projects and he said the quote was reasonable. The only thing I would change about the experience is that I wish communication could be done via email or text message more. Dave likes to talk on the phone to discuss things, and my husband and I are super busy and have a hard time carving out time for phone calls. Email and text is more convenient for us. Terra-Sol did an amazing job on an irrigation (sprinklers!) and paver project for us this spring. They were incredibly responsive and the results were more than I could have hoped. They also did such a good job of keeping our space clean every day, which was not easy as this spring was so, so rainy and generated a ton of mud during the trenching phase. This is an overdue review but I felt it was important to share the positive experience I had with Dave and team. My project was a backyard redo in Fall 2020. Our yard consisted mostly of a paver patio with an upper and lower deck. When we moved in we thought it would be good for entertaining but years later and several dogs later, we realized we needed a more dog friendly backyard. I found Terra-Sol using Angie's list and had a positive experience with every interaction starting at the initial quote. Dave gave me a reasonably priced quote and was very transparent on when the work could begin. Due to Covid apparently everyone decided to do yard projects, so we had to wait a few months- which we were ok with. During our waiting period, Dave would check in and give me updates so I didn't feel forgotten. The work started as promised and was completed on time. Dave showed up frequently to check progress, was always available to answer my questions, provided great suggestions and was open to any changes I wanted to make. He did an excellent job capturing what I wanted with his design.. and didn't charge a design fee- which many of the other companies I called would have done. HIs crew is professional, highly skilled, hardworking and showed up every day. The finished product was exactly what I wanted! From initial estimate, design installation and cost, his team did an amazing job! I highly recommend Dave and Terra-Sol. I will be contacting them soon for my next project! PS. This is probably one of the best, if not the best, companies we've ever had work for us. David Zimmerman came and talked to us about what we wanted in the way of pavers, after seeing their work next door. They also do landscaping but we were only needing pavers. We were given a date when work could be started but as it turned out, David came with three guys about three weeks earlier than planned, told them what the plan was, and the job was completed in three days. We were totally amazed at how fast they worked. Of course they got to our home in the morning and worked all day. That makes a big difference. We had an issue after they left on day three and the next morning, two workers arrived to remedy the not-very-serious problem. Also, Rea in the office was more than helpful with the whole process so kudos to her as well. We would definitely recommend Terra-Sol. They do great work! read more

Terra-Sol knows their stuff! We had our front yard done by another contractor (D&J) who overcharged us and never followed up regarding dead plants and other issues. We hired Terra-Sol to landscape our back yard, and they did a fantastic job! They installed pavers, lawn, and plants, and they were honest enough to reduce their fee when they realized the landscape plans we had would overcrowd our yard and we couldn't use all the plants in the budget. On top of this, when David from Terra-Sol noticed the pavers in the front of the house had not been done according to plan, he offered to redo those for a reasonable price. Worth getting a bid from I think. We got one and asked for a line item bid. Was told it was too complex to do that but others were able to give us that type of bid. Entire bid was over $13k which was on par with others. We chose to go wth someone else for some of the work and asked for a bid on installing some synthetic lawn and reworking our water feature. Dave Zimmerman was recommended by a former company employee. We received 3 bids and Terra-Sol was not the lowest but the results surpassed all expectations. Dave followed my original plan and then modified it which was a great improvement. After accepting the bid, Dave returned with his foreman Freddie to start the job at which time he realized that the placement of large boulders to help stabilize the down-slope was not going to work so he changed it to a 28 inch high retaining wall at no increase in price. The best part of the project was the workers. Freddie and his crew of 4 worked very hard and diligently showing up every day until the work was finished in 8 days. Absolutely the best possible experience and outcome. If I could give a 6 star rating I would. We first contacted David and Terra-Sol over 2 years ago and were very impressed with the landscape design, which was right on target, and with the sense that we could trust Terra-sol with such an expensive and important investment. In October (the second wettest October on record) they started our project and worked nonstop for over a week, a crew of 3-4 (or more) with equipment and many truckloads of haul old and in with new soil and rock. The finished product is fabulous. We are very picky when spending this type of money and we were fearful that like many other contractors their objective would to cut corners - but we happily watched as this veteran crew totally remade our back yard, painstakingly and beautifully, and have we said dozens of time that we are so happy with selecting Terra-Sol. As expensive as it was, I view it as a bargain. Without exception, everyone has loved the finished product. Something less obvious to others was our drainage problems. Our back yard would literally flood. One day last year we can home to a duck floating on our standing water (no joke). I am so happy to report that last month when we had 9" of snow rapidly melt, coinciding with 3" of heavy rain, it all drained away perfectly. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. Very happy with the process, costs and results. We have a complex yard with existing walls, fences, curbs, slope, and nothing square. Dave made it simple with quick answers to our questions and good recommendations. Minimal design time, but great solutions. He went out of his way to work with us as our thoughts changed. Once underway, his crew is hard working and efficient, on time, on budget. Could be 5 stars for us but we had a difficult time reading the plant names on his plan. If you're into plants like us, you want to know the names. No problem, we got the names, but if you like to ponder your plants, ask for some legible plans. read more

They took months to do the work and when they did they did it really poorly--I just had to have other people replace the trees (costing me hundreds of dollars) because Terra Sol hadn't bothered to take the plants out of the burlap bags so the plants died. read more

Truly this is as good as it gets!! Terra-Sol transformed our front yard, adding a neighbor friendly sitting area replete with water feature, bench wall, irrigation, lighting, plantings and boulder placements. They did a retaining wall, grading, sprinklers, some stairs and some sod work. The wall and the stairs they built were good. Sprinkler system was ok but they included unnecessary zones even after I told them they were not needed. Real problem I have is that the sod wasn't good, it was very choppy and 6 months later it is very thin and there are a lot of bare spots. I told them multiple times that the sod wasn't installed well and they sent multiple 'experts' out that told me it was fine. Also the drainage isn't very good in some areas.
