Perfect pool side option. Good wings. Note it is inside a gated community. If you are there it's a great option.

It is really all about the scenery here and they have made you feel like you are on a vacation island from the seating in the sand and right on the water to the tree cover and big wooden picnic tables. It truly is a relaxing and fun vibes place and that to me is or was the biggest pro here. One I would totally go back for if it wasn't so far from where we had been staying. Large drink menu with all kinds of fun crushes and punches. All of the drinks we tried were refreshing and you could taste the alcohol. Big plus in my eyes! The fruit punch cocktail was probably my favorite. Think of a grown up Hawaiian Punch- hit the spot on the hot day we went. Service was great, very nice waitress that provided wonderful service to our bigger party. We got a few appetizers and lunch options. The nachos were pretty good and a nice thing to munch on with our drinks! Crabcake was okay- not the best I've had but not bad. Everyone else seemed to like their meals. My oldest wasn't happy with how overdone his burger was.... But he can be picky. The tacos also seemed to be a big hit too! Overall a decent spot for food and drinks- I think the layout, seating, and experience of it all is the best part and why I would recommend it. It's a cool place to check out for sure. Especially by boat from the Delaware shore area since it's a trek to drive to.

As you can see from my more than ten past reviews over 4 years and my last review in August 2025…read morethis is now one of my top three happy hour restaurants during the off season. I will summarize my four most recent happy hour off season visits. We were first here at the bar with my six family and friends. Well finally the off season happy hour half price dinner entrees have finally returned here starting around mid October with pretty much the same entrees and menu as last year. They subsequently updated the half price entrees in early November. All items have pretty much returned here except for some new entrees. The good news is that at least two new half price happy hour dinner entrees were added including the surf and turf with espresso encrusted 4 ounce demi filet mignon with two skewered shrimps, yukon mash, tomato garnash with blue cheese in the middle of the tomato for $40 or half price for only $20. I never had espresso encrusted filet mignon, therefore I ordered and enjoyed mine medium rare. I could barely taste the encrusted espresso. I ended my dinner with my favorite Fiddlehead's draft honey porter for $6. My total bill was $111 with half price discount of $36.50 so my final bill was $77. On my second return I enjoyed my ahi tuna rice bowl with broccoli, ginger fried house rice, sprouts and ginger vinaigrette for $36 or half price for $18. My total bill was $72 excluding gratuity. On my third return I again enjoyed the espresso encrusted 4 ounce demi filet mignon, which I had ordered medium rare, but was over cooked to medium. I did not complain about returning my filet for a replacement, however I did show it to bartender Dennis. Next time I will order my filet rare. On my fourth return I enjoyed my usual cosmos and my ahi tuna rice bowl which was always properly cooked ahi style. Bartender Dennis always remembers I prefer a little extra spice, without me even asking for my Sriracha. Dennis recommended both of the above entrees. See my most recent pic of the new menu. Chef Cowan waved to me at the bar. Bartender Dennis served us very well supported by our usual excellent recommendations and conversations. Chandra and Cameron also said hello. The staff here are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. On Black Friday I purchased another $1k in gift cards for the off season from Off The Hook and Hooked in OC. Needless to say we will continue to return here for happy hour to spend our $1k.

We missed the afternoon rush…read moreand the rain must have also been keeping people inside because every other time we have driven by Upscale there was usually a line. My brother knew he wanted to try the lobster roll, but my dad asked what they recommended. The guy, who we found out later to be the owner, went through each menu item, telling us how they get the ingredients and how everything is prepared. All the seafood is brought in fresh and it is Upscale that freezes it themselves, only to thaw the day of preparation. Some of their sauces, like the tartar sauce and remoulade sauce, are homemade. The owner seemed very passionate about his business and seemed to value quality of ingredients immensely. In addition to the lobster roll we also ordered the crab cake sandwich, fried shrimp, and french fries. The order was a little pricey, but for quality seafood that is expected. We did have to wait about fifteen minutes for the food to be ready, as they were making the food right then. While I only tried a piece of the lobster roll this day, my dad and brother were instantly impressed. The lobster roll was perfectly buttered and grilled, with fresh lobster and bread. My dad said it may have been the best crab cake sandwich he has ever had. The crab cake was all jumbo lump crab and perfectly crispy on the outside. They also loved the fried shrimp and french fries. My brother always says you know it's a good french fry if it does not need ketchup and he did not need ketchup for these fries. Overall, Upscale seems to be an awesome addition to the Bethany Beach scene and is a must try for all seafood lovers. Even the non-seafood lovers may want to try it out too!

It would be 1star if it was not for the ambiance, the scenery and me being with my 2 birthday girls..... Here is the long story because I feel like writing today. First, I was called in the morning to confirm our reservation. I was asked to come early because it is wedding season. I don't know what wedding season has to do with a reservation made a couple days ahead of time on their website but...OK, we went early. On that confirmation call the caller mentioned my note of it being both my mom's (96) & my wife's (??) birthday - which I acknowledged. I thought it funny they asked if you are celebrating something on the rez site, then they acknowledge it 'to me' during the confirmation call, but not even a "welcome & happy birthday" from the maître d' or our waiter to the 2 birthday girls. At 96 my mom appreciates the attention and this is why I put it down. It's not really a big deal but let's just say 'strike one' because it was not at all crowded our whole dining time and the wedding was upstairs. Second, after dropping off my mom, (96 bday) & wife and parking the car, I sat down at the table, was handed a menu by our waiter and was immediately asked -"are you ready to order." Come on dude, have a clue....strike two. You are not a "two eggs and sausage" diner. We ordered drinks. The waiter then gave us plenty of time to finish our 1st drinks and then watch most of the ice melt before he came back to take our dinner orders. Again, it was not crowded at all. This was just a foul tip and not the strike out, let's say. The food took a reasonable amount of time to come out. Baywood has a small, and reasonably priced menu. No complaints there unless you don't like french fries, or salt fries, as they call them. The mound of fries on each plate was twice as big as each entree. A mound of french fries at what is supposed to be "fine dining" is just lazy, unimaginative and an "I don't care" fine dining restaurant attitude, imo. The crab dip appetizer had a fair amount of grease, or butter, or mayo floating on top and did lack the crab meat. I'm guessing they put Old Bay on the homemade chips so 'it seems' as though you are eating crab. I did notice at least one piece of crab though. The ribs were very fatty and they were 'fall off the bone'. Maybe this was because the weight of the fat wore the meat down off the bone. So, after eating and never seeing our waiter, we sit and talk. After this we sat and talked some more. The finally we sat and talked some more. Again there were 2 open tables right next to us the whole night. And, while going to the men's room, I noticed the other dining area was sparsely crowded also. The bar area did look crowded with golfers but this should not have affected the dining areas or our dining experience. The two dining area I saw could have easily accommodated at least 50 more people in just those 2 rooms. Finally, our waiter comes back. I then went to the parking lot to drive the car up to valet my 2 birthday girls while asking my wife to pay. Hey, it's her birthday. Why shouldn't she pay? I, AGAIN!!!, had to wait maybe 10 -15 minutes out at the front door for them to come out. They mentioned the waiter left the check and disappeared again. They, after waiting a good bit of time, actually had to go find the waiter to pay. Strike three..."you're outta here". Well, we are out of there, and won't be back. Baywood is not "fine dining". It is reasonably priced bar food. It is a beautiful golf course with fair bar food, bad service and even worse bottled mixer drinks. Do not go with any higher expectations.

The restaurant was closed during the winter season. They reopened in mid April. We were here in April on a Friday around 3:50 PM, before a line of customers were lined up ready to enter at 4 PM. We scored our favorite 5 bar stools. I started with my two orange crushes for $9 each and ended with my draft Yuengling lager, since my favorite draft Guinness was no longer being offered. We also noticed some changes to their happy hour menu. The two chicken sliders are now available with one of two preparations including the original Old Bay honey or the newer Nashville hot. I enjoyed my two Nashville hot chicken sliders for $7, which were very moist and tender. They were great. I also enjoyed their happy hour homemade cream of crab soup for $8. We also ordered the Nevas potatoes to go for $5. My total bill was $61 excluding gratuity. We agreed we will continue to return here for happy hour.
