Your search for crabs is over! Hot & flavorful seafood. I love hush puppies but not many places sell them. Upscale had delicious homemade crab hush puppies, do not miss those. Perfect for our family birthday celebration.

We came by on a rainy late afternoon and were the only people in line. We missed the afternoon rush and the rain must have also been keeping people inside because every other time we have driven by Upscale there was usually a line. My brother knew he wanted to try the lobster roll, but my dad asked what they recommended. The guy, who we found out later to be the owner, went through each menu item, telling us how they get the ingredients and how everything is prepared. All the seafood is brought in fresh and it is Upscale that freezes it themselves, only to thaw the day of preparation. Some of their sauces, like the tartar sauce and remoulade sauce, are homemade. The owner seemed very passionate about his business and seemed to value quality of ingredients immensely. In addition to the lobster roll we also ordered the crab cake sandwich, fried shrimp, and french fries. The order was a little pricey, but for quality seafood that is expected. We did have to wait about fifteen minutes for the food to be ready, as they were making the food right then. While I only tried a piece of the lobster roll this day, my dad and brother were instantly impressed. The lobster roll was perfectly buttered and grilled, with fresh lobster and bread. My dad said it may have been the best crab cake sandwich he has ever had. The crab cake was all jumbo lump crab and perfectly crispy on the outside. They also loved the fried shrimp and french fries. My brother always says you know it's a good french fry if it does not need ketchup and he did not need ketchup for these fries. Overall, Upscale seems to be an awesome addition to the Bethany Beach scene and is a must try for all seafood lovers. Even the non-seafood lovers may want to try it out too!

But they have a parking lot attendant helping to move cars in and out. Be prepared to wait but for our group of 2, we got sat in 25 min. I don't understand how restaurants nowadays don't do reservations but this one doesn't. Got the Ipswich clam sandwich - incredible, and a must get! I did have to look up what makes these fried clams different than regular - and I guess these are fried whole instead of strips. Makes them very juicy and a great texture. It was $30 which I don't mind but it came with a bag of chips and a $2 upcharge for fries. For a $30 sandwich... I feel they can include the fries or at least a homemade side. I got the clams linguine which was tasty but not particularly hot. While our specific waiter was great, the restaurant had some service issues, food took extra long (our waiter apologized) and something I ordered almost never came (waiter had to ask for it again). Not horrible but just somethings to work on. Overall, we'd come again but I'm sure it's easier in the off season!

Based on my…read moreprevious reviews, you probably know that we frequently dine at Matt's in Fenwick Island, and we've also stopped by the Lewes location a couple of times. We love the Sodel and Matt's restaurants; they consistently deliver great experiences and fantastic happy hour oyster specials. For this visit, we dropped in for happy hour just after 3:00 PM on a Sunday and sat at the bar, which was wonderfully clean and welcoming. Although I skipped the cocktails this time, we shared 18 Virginia Chunu raw oysters for $18. I also had the New England clam chowder ($8), though I personally prefer the version at the Fenwick location, and a plate of six delicious lobster deviled eggs ($12). Our bartender, Hannah S., was exceptionally friendly and provided top-notch service. The total bill came out to $55 before tip. We both had a great time and agreed that we'll definitely be back for another happy hour.

You know they are both the same owner or at least the same franchise even though slightly different names and a slight different array of offerings. This location at the inside area of the same plaza has seating and more seafood. They use quality bread for their oyster po-boy and and use slightly different ingredients compared to the po-boy at DB-Fries. I forget what the ingredients were at both places- you can investigate yourself, lol. I just wanted good food and to stay out of the slight rain on this particular day. The fries are fresh and well done. Better than Thrashers imo and not a line. Looking back, I probably should've gotten the lobster roll here and the po-boy at Henlopen instead because at Henlopen, it's a combination of seafood instead. Nonetheless, the seafood here was fresh and if it's not a bad day and love seafood, you probably can't really make a wrong choice Staff here is friendly.

I could go back for every meal if the lobster roll tasted like that every time. The coleslaw had what I believe to be horseradish or something in it that set it aside from all the other local ones. It was super tasty. The fries were decent but nothing special just all around good fries (maybe the need a special sauce for those to set them off). Service was short and to the point and not much of a vibe or ambiance for a snack shack style.

Our first visit took place on Mother's Day around 4:00 PM. Because brunch was still being served and dinner didn't begin until 4:15 PM, I booked a table for two, and we passed the time at the bar. We caught some live music while I enjoyed a $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan before settling the bar tab. Once dinner service opened at 4:15 PM, we were seated inside at table 45 to escape a breezy outdoor deck. It turned out to be the debut day for their new menu. I ordered another $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan and the $36 seafood stew--a rich combination of fish, clams, shrimp, fennel, pepper, onion, Spanish chorizo, and tomato seafood broth accompanied by grilled bread. It was a generous portion, so I brought the remaining stew home to enjoy later that evening. To conclude the meal, I tried the Lucky 7 porter from Evolution Craft Brewing Company ($7), which featured dark dried fruit and sweet toffee tones balanced by notes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Our server, Brendan V., did an excellent job caring for us and demonstrated great knowledge of the new menu, even while managing a large outdoor table with five children. Our total bill for that evening came to $114, excluding gratuity. We returned on Memorial Day for a second dinner, this time in a group of five that included family and a friend visiting from Scottsdale, AZ. Since the outdoor fire tables were completely full, we secured a table on the left side of the restaurant. I began with a spicy mango margarita for $14, which featured tequila, mango, lime, agave, jalapeno, and a tajin rim, and opted for the $36 seafood stew once again. Unfortunately, the cocktails were inconsistent this time; I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan up, but it tasted like watered-down bourbon. When a second Manhattan tasted exactly the same, I decided to cancel the order. Nevertheless, our server Nadine K. provided excellent service throughout the evening, and our bill came out to $92 before gratuity. Ultimately, we all agreed that we would gladly visit again.
