STAY AWAY: 10 Weeks, $4,100+, and Endless Lies If negative…read morestars existed, Tanner Transmission of Ogden and Sandy would easily earn -28 stars. They held my truck hostage for 10 weeks and 4 days, charged me over $4,100 for a rear differential rebuild, and lied to me every step of the way. The Bait: Jim (Ogden Owner) quoted a 7-hour rebuild once parts arrived. I paid a $2,000 deposit immediately. The Ghosting: The moment they had my money, all communication ceased. When I called, Jim blamed his own problems on me--complaining about firing employees, forgetting to order enough parts, and delaying my truck. The Blame Game: At week 7, Jim shipped my truck to the Sandy location under Blaine (Manager). When I called for updates, Jim told me to call Blaine because he "would not call" his own store. Blaine then told me to call Jim because the work started in Ogden. They refused to speak to each other and used the double-location setup to dodge accountability. The Excuses: When I finally got Blaine to talk, he blamed further delays on his mechanic needing time off for immigration court. The Audacity: After nearly 3 months of deception, they demanded the final $4,100+ balance or they would keep my truck. They wouldn't even credit me for the tank of gas they burned driving my vehicle between their two shops. Once paid, Jim refused to speak to me, cowardly hiding behind a "warranty" if I have future issues. Save your time, your sanity, and your money. Avoid Tanner Transmission at all costs.

Dennis and Josh are able to handle al the work, for both vehicles. They are professionals, with a modern shop and processes. They keep a computer record of your vehicle's repairs as well as the "to do" lists, so that you don't lose track of planned work. They do what they say they're going to do, when they say they're going to do it. This means a lot! The pricing seems reasonable, and they are always willing to explain options. There is no pushing, or discouraging you from making a repair. They'll advise you with respect, and show you exactly what's going on in your precious rustbucket. Highly recommended. When we got back from our vacation, he was not in the office and we couldn't find our vehicle. When he came back to work, he said it was not ready yet, saying one more day, oh just one more day. We didn't get it back for another week. He put another used transmission in it but it didn't fix the issue. He said he still needed extra time which was longer than he promised originally. When we picked it up, we found that he had driven it 875 miles! He had taken the truck "on a test drive". We took the vehicle to another reputable business for repair. He is not to be trusted.

The shop owner said I needed to have a new transmission. He rebuilt my transmission for $3500 and the noise still persisted. Now it is 2 years later and the NOISE WAS STILL HAPPENING (it never stopped), so I did a little research and I replaced the TRANSMISSION MOUNT that was $60 and 4 hours of work for me to replace using youtube as a reference) and it fixed the issue. The owner should of known from the start of me bringing my van to his shop, that it was a bad transmission mount and not a bad transmission. I feel he ripped me off $3500 and is horribly dishonest and not a trustworthy. BEWARE using his shop!!!

2nd time having issues here now…read more I specifically requested an AC diagnostic and explained upfront that I had already replaced the compressor, had the system charged the day before, and that a full leak/pressure test had already been performed. Instead of moving forward with a true diagnostic, they repeated the exact same service (discharge and recharge) that had just been done, and then charged me $285 for it. In the end, I'm back to square one--still not knowing what's wrong with my AC, but now out the money for a redundant service I did not need. To make it worse, I was told I'd need to pay even more for a diagnostic... which is what I had asked for in the first place. Very frustrating and disappointing experience. Be careful coming here for service and make sure they're clear on what you're requesting, or you may end up paying twice without answers. Always ask for Donny. He is awesome! He wasn't available when this happened.
