Our first experience was not good. service was slow, food was so so. it was an extremely busy night for them and we had a party of 10, so we decided to give it a second look midweek. When we arrived around 5pm, there was plenty of seating available. We were asked to wait, even though there was no one else waiting. After a few minutes we were seated and given menus. We sat at our table for at least 15 minutes - no waitress, no water nothing. People who came in after us got water, ordered drinks. The bartenders, who were not busy stared at us from the bar. The first time we ate there we were in a larger party, a group of ten so we cut them some slack for the slow service and wrong orders although we didn't want to return. On a whim we thought we would give them another try so I called ahead to see if they take reservations or if we could put our name on a waiting list. Had the tacos which were pretty marginal. Spice up with some color instead of a bland look (red tomato or green cilantro). Terrazza Waterfront was a great find for dinner in Coeur d'Alene. We sat in the bar area to watch the World Cup, but they have a nice patio, which has a beautiful view of the river and even dock space if you're coming by boat -- such a nice setup for a summer evening. I had the skirt steak tacos, which were excellent, and my husband got the steak and chorizo skewers; both were full of flavor. My watermelon Paloma was refreshing and perfectly balanced. This is only our second time at Terraza but again it was excellent. We went for restaurant week, which gives three options for the first, second, and main dish. I went with the tequila clams with chorizo which was a great choose. My second was the pork chili. This was pretty good but didn't wow me. I just thought it needed more flavor. The guacamole tasted store bought and scooped out a container and the queso was very liquid-y. I wouldn't come back or recommend this spot. I want to love this place! The positives are the view, the drinks are good and the guacamole is next level amazing and I'm not a guac person. But every single time I come here there's a problem with my order. The first time it was that they were out of the steak skewers. It happens; but instead of asking what I would want instead I was brought chicken skewers. Which would have been fine but I was kind of thrown off that I wasn't told about the switch. Also that night it took 1.5 hours to get my dinner but it was summer and they were busy. I was also still charged for the steak. 2nd time it wasn't busy at all and I ordered the island chicken skewers and they came super pink, tasted a little fatty and the rice was a very small portion. Okay, so I will "assume" that Terazza must have read my last review, and I am glad they did! I had another dinner at Terazza, this time with another client and his wife, as well as my wife. My wife ordered a steak (PNW style), as did my client, while my client's wife ordered the halibut, and I ordered the lamb. To our waiter's credit (the same one I had last time), he gave me the "heads up" that the lamb portion was on the small side (which it was), which I was okay with knowing my wife would not finish her generous portion of steak that I knew was coming. The food arrived at our table in two shifts, the men's service first (we waited), and about 2 minutes later, our wives' dishes arrived. Before our waiter left after delivering the dishes, he kindly asked those who had steak to cut it open to be sure they were prepared to their liking...this was unexpected and something I believe that "all" wait staff should get into the habit of doing. There is nothing worse than having your food delivered, the waiter/waitress leaves only to return 10 minutes later to ask how your dish is after you have been sitting there not wanting to eat due to the condition of your meal. On to my lamb and my client's wife's fish. The lamb, while a modest portion, was very tasty and worth every bite - I would encourage anyone who orders this to not be shy about picking it up by the bone to get every bit of the tasty meat. While I did not have a taste, apparently the fish was "delicious", this coming from a woman who is used to freshly caught and expertly prepared halibut... So...I am definitely coming back and will not hesitate to bring a client or friends here. Perhaps the previous experience was only a 'fluke"? Terrazzo was EXTRAORDINARY!! Words will not even get close to describing the entire dining experience. . . 1st I called to check on allergy friendly entree options. Tally was the most understanding and action oriented I have ever encountered at a restaurant and I've navigated my allergies with 100s. She checked with the chef and we had a plan for a delicious sea bass meal. I was coming from out of town to celebrate my best friend's 80th birthday and already Tally was all over this monumental day to make memories. She was so positive with a can do attitude. Reservations were easy We arrived and again Tally greeted us like we were here good friends. The setting is fabulous as is the decor and vibe. She set us up with an incredible server, Mark who was soooo personable and gave us just the right amount of attention. My sea bass entree and my friend's asada tacos were truly out of this world delicious. And then the complimentary birthday cheesecake was absolutely the cherry on top. I will drive 3 hours back to Terraza for special dining. Parking is complimentary and so easy. The team approach between staff--Tally, Mark, chef, and kitchen resulted in my new favorite restaurant with quality and a feeling of great appreciation and gratitude on their and my life.
