Solid BBQ! Had the brisket and it was perfectly moist and flavorful! Green beans were a big disappointment as they were extremely salty (and I love salt!) Coleslaw was a little too creamy for my taste buds, but still tasty. Perhaps the chef was a little heavy handed with the salt & mayonnaise on the day we visited ‍. This restaurant has a cool vibe and plenty of seating indoors & out! It's cafeteria-style; you get in line, order, and they give you your food beforw you find a seat. Fantastic brisket so tender , w REAL homemade sides labeled for GF, V, and DF. The pit master gave us a tour of the smokers that are giant sized w fires lit with wood pieces burning. The meat slabs smoke for 12 hours then rest for another 8 hours which makes the process a day in advance. They work it 24/7 ! read more

Amazing BBQ and service! We had the brisket, jalapeno and house sausage, potato salad, cole slaw and peach cobbler! Soooo good! We will be back! I came in today, and lol what a disappointment.... I was in line for a very extended amount of time today... ok it is what it is we are patient and waited!!! probably close to an hour waiting in line... that was manageable ! I understand it's busy and clearly you guys didnt have your stuff together for whatever reason! what is unacceptable is the way we where treated And spoke to when we finally reached the meat the cashier was extremely rude kept cutting us off we spent close to 300 is it to hard to smile then you have the courage to ask me to tip on the screen chayanne was the cashier because i specifically asked the cool guy in the lobby who was talking to us at the table! and no dessert very bad experience today! Mac and cheese tasted like velveeta, potato salad had to much in it for me. Banana pudding was pretty good. Be ready to spend over 100 bucks if you want to try everything. We had the most wonderful time! We had a group of 7 visit yesterday for the Terry Black BBQ Experience and we were over the moon. The staff was warm, welcoming, and provided incredible customer service and atmosphere. Our pit master was INCREDIBLE (handsome too ). Very knowledgeable and personable. Would definitely have given Terry Black's in Waco another half star if that was an option. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess who opened the door for my son and I, which is always nice. The staff cutting the meat were also very attentive and pleasant. The ribs were excellent, brisket was good and the sides were also very good (creamed corn and pintos). Have been to the one in Dallas a couple of times but wanted to try out the Waco location when in town recently. Got a little bit of everything to try. The brisket was tender, not too much fat, but was a tad on the dry side. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was to die for, the pork ribs were falling off the bone, and the mac and cheese was heavenly. Service was great, huge indoor and outdoor seating areas as well. The pit master also showed us the smokers and spoke about the process for a bit on our way out at closing. read more

Them prices!!!! The brisket was delicious. Creamed corn as well. Pork ribs decent. Mac and cheese ok. Opted against the green beans. We prefers our stewed, not steamed. It's an experience. We visited over spring break and everything was amazing. Great place for groups and easy walking distance to the Dr.Pepper museum and silos area. The pits are viewable from the patio and the guys cooking were so kind to our family. We peeked over near the pits and they took photos for us and showed us what they were cooking, answered questions from our daughters. We had the best experience and will be back! read more

If I could combine the beef ribs from Terry Blacks with the baked beans from Wolfepack BBQ in KCMO I would never leave or perhaps even be able to stand again. I will say its the best beef rib I've had, and the most expensive. It was a meal with my 2 sides. Great sauces and iced cold ones. What's not to love about this place. I'll be back. read more

I hope they can hang on until their supplies are more affordable. The cost will I am sure be a disadvantage. What we paid would have been or useful in filling my pantry. That being said, it was one of the most enjoyable meals we've brought home. If we could afford it we would definitely be our go-to place. We are looking forward to iur anniversary in a couple months when we won't feel guilty about paying a big price for a meal. I will go for flavor over fancy every time and Helberg fits that shoe.

Overall it seemed like a location that would be bumping in conjunction with Baylor college nights, post church service, or otherwise Waco-oriented affairs. My only complaint was really the smell. We came near close when some workers were cleaning, however there was an apparent chemical stench within the patio, between the inside seating and outdoor seating. My partner ordered the sausage po boy, while I ordered the fried chicken plate, wish mashed potatoes & gravy + green beans. The wait was rather long, which can be attributed towards the chicken's cook time - which might be front scratch. After we got our plates, I certainly couldn't complain. The chicken was decently sized and decadent with flavor. Consistent, strong Cajun spicing littered the tray and chicken, while its interior was extremely juicy and filled with flavor; additionally, it still maintained structure and provided a nice crunch on the surface. The mashed potatoes were equally as enjoyable. The gravy complemented the potatoes well, and established an equilibrium through texture. The green beans however, were not my favorite. They initially appeared fine on the surface, but became watered down and lacking in flavor the farther down the bowl you went. I would not be surprised if these beans were canned. I would certainly find myself eating here again. Its biggest appeals are the prices, genuine quality of food, and disposition. It is not perfect, but it is more than satisfactory. If you cannot get over the minor inconveniences that you may run into here, then you probably shouldn't be eating Cajun anyways.

We arrived around 7:30 PM and were told to grab a drink and wait on the rooftop until our table was ready. Sounds great, right? The problem is nobody ever came back for us. We sat there, ordered wine, enjoyed the view, and patiently waited. No updates. No check-ins. No communication whatsoever. After finishing an entire bottle of wine and wondering why the wait was taking so long, I finally tracked someone down to ask what was happening. The response? "Sorry, we close at 9." That's it. No apology for forgetting us. No effort to seat us. No attempt to make things right. We were simply left sitting on the rooftop until the restaurant closed. I've worked in customer service long enough to understand mistakes happen. But forgetting a table for over an hour and then essentially shrugging your shoulders when they ask what's going on is unacceptable. What should have been a magical final evening of an incredible trip turned into us scrambling to find food elsewhere on our last night in Texas. The rooftop view was nice. The bottle of wine was good. Too bad we never got to try the food.

Best BBQ! It's a shame Yelp has 187 reviews (most 5 stars) under their so called "not recommended" section. Including an original review I had left when this business first opened. So I'm back to leave a review for this business and will continue to do so until my review is left alone. Terry Black's BBQ is a family owned business handed down through what is now the 4th generation and they have it down to a science! My kids and I LOVE the pork ribs, turkey, and of course brisket. The copped brisket sandwich is an easy way for my kids to enjoy as well. They pile it on for a super filling sandwich! Next our favorite sides are the Mac n cheese, rice, green beans, and potato salad. For dessert you can't go wrong. All of them are amazing! Lastly, the service is wonderful at this establishment. Everyone always has a smile, is friendly and welcoming, and attentive to your needs even beyond the service line. If you are budget conscious I love that you can order as much or as little as you need. Even if it's one slice of brisket. There is no amount you have to order ie 1/2 lb full lb. The staff is ready and willing to serve up whatever you would like. The patio is beautiful and don't forget a pit tour. The pitmasters are always eager to show off that meat! Amazing Barbecue! My husband is a barbecue junkie so I surprised him with a trip to the new Terry Black's for his birthday and it did not disappoint! When we first walked his jaw dropped seeing the huge smokers they use. Gene, one of the pit masters, welcomed us in and invited us to take a closer look at the smokers and briskets cooking. He was so friendly and enthusiastically answered every question my husband asked him. He was asking Gene so many questions I wasn't sure we would actually ever get inside to eat! Once we got inside, the restaurant was gorgeous! My husband referred to it as "Barbecue Basilica". We got our sides first and then we got to choose our meats. The staff serving us our food were wonderful, cheerful and helpful. They served us some of the best brisket, ribs and sausage we've ever had. The sides were fantastic (We had the Mac and cheese, coleslaw, beans, potato salad and banana pudding) and they matched the quality of the meat, which is often not the case at some barbecue restaurants. AMAZING as always, excellent service, very organized Pha rounded on us to make sure we had everything and even went above and beyond to get us what we needed for to go containers, even though it was self service; she got it for us. Now the food: the brisket was very tender, didn't even need BBQ sauce (although that was good) but the seasoning and flavor was delicious. The sausage was just as good, great flavor. The mac n cheese, potato salad, pinto beans were great; you will not go wrong...but the creamed corn, oh my goodness that is soo incredible. This was our first time at Terry Black's Barbecue. We were visiting in Waco and it was recommended. The beautiful landscaping was a great first impression of the restaurant itself. The food was excellent! We especially appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. Sam welcomed us and gave us an informative short tour of the pit. Adriana, Jason, Christian, and Marissa gave us great recommendations on sides (Cole Slaw and Potato Salad - Yum). Leilani and Tiffani were so friendly and helpful in the meat line as well (Loved the cheddar sausage and beef ribs). Even the young man sweeping the floors went out of his way to help us find the BBQ sauces in the outdoor eating area! The team at Terry Black's were friendly, professional, and accommodating! Jason, Jaz, and Tori served our veggies, Oscar and Xavier teamed up to explain the meat courses - with Oscar cutting fresh meat in front of us, and Pha took care of our needs once we were seated. The restaurant itself is an attractive wide space with high ceilings and booths and tables reflective of modern BBQ decor. Today was my first opportunity to partake of Texas bbq. My family and I selected the small family meal option. Very good portions of meats and sides were offered. Absolutely no complaints there. The bbq tastes were quite good and savory. The side of rice option was a bit disappointing though. The casual dining atmosphere fit us just fine. We took home with us what we could not finish at the table. As we left, Sam, one of the cooks, offered us a brief tour of the many woods fired cookers cooking that wonderful meat. Saw the billboard on my down 35 and I have dined at the Dallas and Austin locations so I had to stop. They did not disappoint. Don't know how they do it. After a long month in August of starting our own church. Let me first say that the staff here is the friendliest staff I've experienced is quite some time! They were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful! They answered all of my questions ranging from how long the meat is cooked to most popular sides. Waco Cowboy and Brandon were helpful and a pleasure to talk with while checking out. I was in Waco for a Doctors appointment with the VA and had free time before my appointment so I stopped in and ate lunch. I was greeted right when I walked in orders my sides then I was met by Cheyenne and Tammy, both were FANTASTIC! I order a half pound of burnt ends from the point and as usual it was melt in my mouth good!
