We have been using this propane company since the last electrical blackout--we could not get their competition to bring us propane , but promised every day they would. We happened to see Garnett's propane truck n the neighborhood (after 15 days without propane) and my husband asked if they could bring us some. I disputed a credit card charge I didn't authorize and they reached out the multiple parties that had nothing to do with the business relationship btwn me and them, and tried to destroy my recent real estate transaction! The fire department sniffed over 1,000 ppm of gas when they came. You replaced the regulator and I paid to dig up and repair the gas line to the generator. Then you left my tank empty in winter. Unhappy with the quality of your services, I called and cancelled my services with you and had my propane tank filled by an alternate company. You showed up in May, claiming to have filled 370 gallons into a 500 gallon tank, which companies will only fill to 80%, or 400 gallons, to allow for expansion. I had not needed propane from the time I bought that house in May 2024, until I called and asked you to fill it in January 2025. In March, before I moved out, it was showing between 75-80% full. Terry Garnetts and other propane companies have all told me that they only fill tanks to 80% to allow for expansion. For the reasons I have laid out, here, I don't believe that you delivered that amount, if you delivered any, to my tank. Secondly, I dispute it, because I did not authorize you to change my credit card for this, even if I had agreed that you delivered it and I had a responsibility to pay I (which I dispute). Shocked that Terry Garnett's Propane has such a low rating. Been with them for almost three years and have had zero problems. I write this today because it's December 23rd and 14 degrees. A camera bings and I look and it's Terry Garnett's Propane filling my tank. I was worried about the propane anyway as it heats my house and water and stove...so everything. Very poor customer service with pricing that is up to 40% higher than their competition. They force you to lease the propane tank and exclusively buy from them at inflated costs. We had a leak in our home propane tank. I called this company and they said they couldn't come and fix it because they didn't fill it last. I told them that it hadn't been filled in a few years and I didn't even know who is was that last filled the tank. I even told them that they could fill it after the repair since the tank was only showing 20% full. None of this mattered, she just kept saying I would have to figure out who last filled the tank. I would not recommend a company that seemed to have an excuse for not being able to come out. It would have been better if she would have just told me they were too busy. read more

After nearly 10 years of business, they tried to force me to replace two valves that the railway commission only "recommended" replacing -- for $700! That's a HUGE RIP OFF! And Garnett's service manager (woman) tried to then tell me that they couldn't fill my tank anymore as it was a "liability" to them and then offered to do it for $500. So I called three other companies and all said it was optional and only needs replacing if it's leaking. Garnett's then offered to do it for $500 (which is still more than any of the other three companies) so I still declined. The Garnett's service manager said something to the effect of "well, I'd hate for you to find yourself without gas this winter." Really?! We're stooping to scare tactics / coercion? I've moved on to another company with much better reviews here on Yelp. read more

Earlier today, a staff member at Garnett's posted on Yelp a response to my clear cut review of their business. Their review and the profile was removed in Yelp dramatic fashion. I thought I would give you the full story so there wouldn't be any confusion. In 2000, I made the decision to get an electric cooktop and get rid of my classic gas powered stove. With the tank rental and the 3 pilot lights on the stove, my bill ran at least a $100 a month. At that point in my life, I rarely cooked at home. I called Garnett's and asked that they come over and shut the gas off and at their convenience pick up the tank. The request was met with a "no problem" and the wait began. 5 MONTHS later they came and picked up the tank and NEVER in that period did any member of the staff stop by and shut the gas off. I called on multiple occasions to ask when the tank was gonna be picked up with no real answer. I went in to pay my final bill and I see this charge for gas used over the last 5 months. An argument ensued and I ended up paying the $145 in extra propane charges I shouldn't have been responsible for. They were so so generous to take off the tank charges. I did complain to the Texas Railroad Commission and at that time they stated that they get complaints on Garnett's on a regular basis. So now 8 years later, this is my forum for dishing out some much deserved Karma. I respectfully encourage all folks reading this message to take your business elsewhere. read more

I give them no stars if I could. I have been a customer of theirs for 7 years. They started this program for loyalty points per unit of propane you buy. I sell my house and figure I am doing the right thing by filling up the propane for the new owner. Garnett's won't transfer your points even though you are the loyal customer and they wouldn't apply it to my last bill. Screw these guys find someone else that gives you lowest price all the time not when it's convenient for them. Poor customer service. After the third phone call to the office we finally got the driver out to our house to deliver propane. come to find out ,after my husband pressed him ,the driver admitted he never even got the message until our third phone call . if I were the owner of this company, I would fire the two women in the office staff. they never even apologized to us that they had forgotten to put us on the schedule . we were supposed to have delivery between 9 o'clock and noon . finally at 3:30 we got propane . When you're moving , wasting a day can be pretty irritating. If the driver hadn't been so courteous and apologetic we would never use this company again. but because of the driver Mike being so apologetic and understanding, we will use the company again . but Only when we can contact him directly . To the two women in the office : you need to change & get a work ethic . Worst customer service I have ever experienced! Set up an apt on Thursday for Monday site visit. Monday afternoon I finally call & am told the main girl is out of the office & the service dept. is too busy. Guaranteed I would have a phone call Tuesday morning. Tuesday came, no call so I call again & get the original personal. They say they will call Rick & he will call me right back. No call. The third day I tell them what a load of crap the customer service is. Very nonchalant & told me its all handled. One week later still nothing. We moved in 2006 and received Propane Gas deliveries from them ever since. Always paid them on time. We bought a new range for my mother-in-law, who lives on the same property and since all ranges are manufactured for natural gas, we also received a conversion kit that will make it possible for the range to operate on Propane gas. The conversion has to be done by the propane gas company. As long-term customers we really thought - and I don't think it is too much to ask - that Garnett's would do the conversion for free as a courtesy to us. We were so wrong. They charged us $229 for a minor service, which was surprising and disappointing., Not happy. read more

Amazing customer service!! After smelling propane in our home only to realize one of the kids had turned on the grill and it had been left on for at least a day, I panicked because of the strong smell of propane in the smell in the house and called TGP and left a message after hours. Rick called me right back and listened to my concerns and walked me through what to do. He then followed up with a text asking if it everything was OK! Unfortunately I have a 1 star review to give as well. I had high-hopes for this company when they were seemingly customer service oriented, called me back and "made things right." They are self-admittedly much higher-priced than others and state that they will not be competitive in their pricing. They claim they have a "reason" for it but honestly it's just because they just don't want to be competitive. I called recently to address the high price on a recent fill and asked if they could do anything to remedy it when so many others in my neighborhood are getting a much lower price elsewhere. They in fact lowered the price for me and gave me some free gallons to boot. Then Audra (who I was dealing w this whole time) said that I am free to share this price with my neighborhood and that they would adjust anyone's current open bill who also filled up at the higher price. My neighbors called in and Audra and the others there have gone back on their word and are not honoring the price adjustment nor the lower price. I called Audra back and called them out on their practice and she said because what I shared (note: I shared what she told me was OK to share) caused such a reaction in my neighborhood that they weren't going to allow others to get the lower price. I've since cancelled my auto-fill program and am forfeiting the 30 free gallons bcuz it's just that bad of customer service and business practices. In addition, every time I call to speak to Tammi regarding a billing question she's never around and never returns messages. It's frustrating. It's shameful business and very disappointing customer service. I would be willing to pay a premium - their premium prices - if they had premium customer service and business practices but alas, they don't. They care more about the price of their propane than the customer they're serving it to. Eventually, you run out of customers that way. read more

This is one one of the worst, shadiest companies I've ever had the displeasure of giving my money. Their driver broke one of our solar powered pathway lights on the way out of the driveway after filling up our propane tank with the most expensive propane around($.20 more a gallon than the others)--we were in a bind cause it was the weekend. Long story short they broke the light, denied it and would do nothing about it. Their receptionist Dawn was a complete *itch and an extremely unpleasant human being--she was like dealing with a bratty teenage girl with major attitude. That attitude is unfortunately supported and backed up by Mr. Garnett the owner who refused to talk to me about the matter--after we paid them $520 to fill up our propane tank. I'm sad I have their company a dime. DO NOT USE this poor excuse for a company. Even in a pinch. They suck. read more

Here's the low down on Terry Garnett's propane, you're paying for their quality service. Sure, you MAYBE paying a little more than the big brands, but when you run out of propane for your heater in the middle of the night in the winter, this mom and pop store is the ONLY one listening! Terry's son is now the in house man and helped me out when one of the service guys left an oil stain on my driveway, he came and cleaned it himself! Still the worst. Wish I read the reviews earlier, but in my decade plus years of using this company, never thought to. Recently have had the worst customer service ever. One schedules them; they don't show up and do not call nor do they return calls. I was scheduled for late on a Friday afternoon, called at 4:50 and was assured they would call me back. At 5:01 the phone was on automatic answer. It is now Monday afternoon and I still have not heard from them. I can get better service than that most anywhere. read more

I called the office, got the blow off, and was told that there was a shortage of propane in the country, caused by the winter storms and that's why the charge this time was tripled. Worst company I've ever done business with. We built a new home and they hooked up all of our appliances heater and pool heater. Well needless to say they had to come back multiple times because they never could figure out how to get the job done right. Every issue we had took multiple phone calls and a lot of lip service from them. They never did get my pool heater to work and blamed it on the pool builder and my homebuilder I finally had it resolved by another propane company the issue was Garnett installed incorrect regulators for the heater. Tammy I believe her name is is one of the rudest people I've ever spoken to you in my life and not to mention their prices are exorbitant for their gas. Our house is heated with propane. We have been with Terry's for 10 years or so. We finally needed a favor when we ran out of gas just before the cold front. All those years paying more for our gas meant ZERO. They were not going to deliver. Saw two other propane trucks on the road working, so I got the number off one of them and called. They said they were working but only for contracted customers. So, not only would Terry not give me service, but my having a contract with him prevented me from getting gas from someone else. Someone else is coming out today to get me. It was a cold night. Best thing about Terry's is that they were more than happy to cancel their "service". read more

The fact that I have to give them one star is ridiculous. They deserve "0" stars. Honestly, I am not a big complainer but if this review could help discourage someone from having to deal with the AWFUL customer service of Garnett Propane then it is worth it. We had a MAJOR propane leak and Dawn and the rest of the office staff put me off and literally said "You're killing me" when I called her back a second time to tell her that I still smelled the propane. Our propane had completely run out and the entire house reaked of propane. After the tank was filled, the house still smelled like propane and Dawn REFUSED to send anyone out. She instructed me to call my own plumber or the fire department. Finally, their extremely kind and thoughtful service guy came out (after I called 5 times and was apparently "killing" Dawn) and found a major leak. Good luck trying to get a hold of Terry Garnett because he is NOWHERE to be found when things get tough. However, he is around to cash my checks. I have never experienced such awful customer service. I have switched to Sharp Propane which does a safety check FREE and has an on call 800 number 24 hours a day. Also, FYI- Apparently propane leaks are very ordinary so if you EVER smell propane, please do not let this company bully you into "letting it go" or making you think you're losing your mind. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER!!! We called around 6pm the evening of Feb 3rd needing propane. We didn't have enough to last through the night. We were told that all the delivery drivers were home. We even were willing to pay all the extra after hours charges which were going to be about $700 for 200 gallons. And still no one would be able to come out. The tank is owned by Garnett's so there is a lock and no other companies can fill it, eventhough O'brien Propane was willing to fill it afterhours. THat night's LOW temp was 18 and we have 3 children (9 years, 2 years and 6 months) and we will had no heat! All thanks to Garnett Propane! We have just started to build a new home, Garnett's propane has just lost getting our business at the new house. Both Home Depot and Tractor Supply are sold out of electric heaters. Tractor Supply are sold out of electric heaters I will actively advise anyone and everyone to GET PROPANE ELSEWHERE Garnett's has FAILED in their so called"mission" provide you the guaranteed finest in prompt, efficient, and reliable service is a complete lie! read more

I wanted to warn others who might consider using Terry Garnett's Propane. I only wish I had seen something like this before I let them in the door. I have been living in Dripping Springs for over 15 years and unfortunately chose Garnett's to service my home. I made the mistake of leasing the propane tank and to be on the "Gold lease" program. Little did I know that meant they could mine my pocketbook for years to come! Over the years we have had our share of arguments about the quality of service and the high, high prices they charge for fuel. They show up at the times where they have the highest prices (especially in the winter) and you cannot use anyone else to fill your tank so you just get abused over and over. After putting up with this all those years, I called and asked what the price would be to purchase the tank so I would not need to use them any more. They had the audacity to tell me the price was the same as new! Can you believe that? A tank and associated gear that is over 15 years old sells for not just the price that it was in 2000, but the inflated price value of 2015!!! They wanted almost $1900.00 for a tank you can buy almost anywhere for less that $1000. A tank that is in the same condition sell for less than $500! I would not do business with them if I did not need to. Don't make the same mistake I did. When I first came to Drippin' there were very few companies to chose from. Now that is no longer true. I would encourage anyone considering purchasing propane services in the Dripping Springs area to review some of the Yelp reviews before you make the decision. read more
