I'm new to this repair place because my previous shop went out of business which did suck because I loved it. The Oreck shop on West Broad is no more. I'm an Oreck fan, lightweight but heavy duty vacuums. I took both of my Orecks in for their yearly tune-up. (I keep one upstairs and one downstairs, yes I'm that lazy!) Orecks typically come with a 10 year warranty with a free yearly tune up for the duration of the warranty! Unfortunately my previous shop had all my paperwork and it didn't transfer. Oh well! I dropped the vacuums off on Thursday afternoon and they were ready by Wednesday. One of them needed a new roller. Frankly, I thought the prices here were high, the other place had better prices, but it's close by my house so convenience plays a factor. Vac City is a small shop in Parham Plaza that moved from the back of the strip up to the front near Game Stop. The sell and repair many different brands of vacuums and have many accessories like carpet fresh powder, vacuum fresheners, bags, as well as fan belts and other parts for your cleaning machines. The gentleman behind the counter was pleasant enough but when I picked up my vacuums and was struggling a little to carry them out, it would have been nice if he assisted me in carrying them to my car. Overall, I'd return since this is a service needed primarily once a year. My old Oreck store set up a small booth in Southside at Old Town Antiques, which is a bit of a hike. But if you are in that neighborhood, it's worth checking out and so is Vac City in the West End! I wish I could give more than 3 stars but my experience here just didn't blow me away... maybe after the dust settles, I'll update my review!

I have called around to a couple different stores but none of them had replacement parts for my vacuum until I called vacuum city! Not only do they have my part but they also had it in stock! I drove all the way over to see them and was happy with my experience there. I walked in unsure of what to expect, especially with seeing other vacuums on sale, one being exactly like the Kirby I own. I walked up to the counter and spoke to the gentleman about getting a replacement piece for my vacuum that I had called about. He had it in stock and explain to me how to remove and replace the piece with ease. He was even kind enough to give me his business card to call him if I had any issues with putting it back together. He also mentioned that this is a piece that typically breaks on the vacuums, after a lot of usage (15+ years), because of it being such a prominent part. After paying for my pizza brought it home and was able to follow the instructions he gave me and replaced the part quickly. Overall, I had a positive experience and will be returning again if I ever need any more help with my vacuum. This little store is close to Regency Mall, has ample parking and is easy to locate, right near Adolf's Jewelers! If you need to repair your vacuum, this is the place to go!

Ok so here we go, we had a 2005 Acura MDX with a new transmission. we drove it to California and…read moreback after it had over 200K on the engine. Great family/boys trip. Truck belongs to my son. I say son "you change the oil and schedule the timing belt to be replaced its a honda if you don't do this the engine will blow" my son "will do it next week" two weeks later timing belt goes engine is shot. call around hard engine to replace several versions nobody will guarantee price. I call Kenny he give me used engine cost and labor I say great!! have car towed to his place. Gave him 1700 Cash up front (was nervous as hell, I don't know him he don't know me not best part of town). We hit several snags a long the way all of which require additional money which I only sent an extra 250 (again I have restored several vehicles so I know the mechanic is always going to ask for additional cash at some point and I have learned to say no and cut my losses and leave it up to the courts if I have to. needless to say no problems with the cash. Kenny stayed in touch returned my calls tried his best to explain the delays and we communicated. Now the biggest issue here was time. It took more than a month to complete this job. I am cutting them a break here because I have talked to several folks who explained that Honda made several different engines for this model Acura and it can be a pain even with the vin to get the right one used which is why folks generally go remanufactured and it ends up costing more. there were some additional cost at the end that I had to pay like alternator and axle replacement but it wasn't to bad so they get a pass on that as well. I would give them 3.5 stars if I could because of the amount of time, but the quality of work they did on the truck has proven to be awesome!! we have driven the truck from Richmond to va beach and back several times no problem Richmond to Baltimore several times no problem. check engine light came on but probably EGR issue. bottom line truck is running good and the mechanics he used did dam good work!! If you have the time dude was trustworthy and got the job done. Kudos to you and your brother!! good work!!

Every other waste company picked up on Friday but not Choice. I expect a credit/refund for breach of contract for last week, pickup or drop off another can on Monday for this weeks trash or another credit/refund for this week since I have no where to put my trash. It would also be helpful if the office was open on the Saturdays they are supposed to be picking up trash so you can contact someone when they don't.
