From the very first call we had, Morgan was prepared, well-spoken, and gave a detailed overview of what the various packages entailed. I really appreciated that she gave us the overview because I didn't know what questions to even ask initially, whereas some other vendors' intro calls tended to be more Q&A style and I didn't quite know where to begin. After booking Savant Garde, Morgan was responsive with one-off questions we had several months before the wedding, and she was great about checking in and making sure all the boxes were checked. About 3 months out, we had an extensive call where Morgan went through every little detail with us, bringing in her expertise and giving advice where she could. Every time we chatted with her we felt so much more reassured and relieved about wedding day, which was truly priceless. She did an amazing job reaching out to the rest of our vendors, setting up walkthrough and rehearsal, and answering all of my anxiety fueled questions with patience and non judgment. On wedding day, Morgan and the team were spectacular in setting up the venue, and just being there for us in any moment, no matter how big or small. She was a calming presence for us: the team made sure we had food and drinks, kept us all on schedule, and even ran up to the bridal suite to help me grab an allergy pill from the deep depths of one of my purses when I had a minor allergic reaction to something in the middle of the evening (thank you!!!). Everyone knows planning a wedding can be stressful but Morgan has the perfect mix of enthusiasm and level-headedness that is often needed throughout the process. Not only does she have incredible ideas but no task is too big for her and her team! My husband dreamt of doing late night in-n-out for our reception and when we ran into a slight setback they handled it with no issues and made sure it didn't add any extra stress on our plate. I honestly could go on and on about every little detail that I love about Morgan but anyone that is looking to hire her should know that 1) she will work incredibly hard before and during your event to make it spectacular and 2) she is an amazing person and will come to feel like a friend by the time your event rolls around. I felt that Ann…read morewas not adequately detail oriented for the size and complexity of our event, although ultimately everything turned out great. Pluses: 1. Ann is friendly and professional. She made me feel special during the planning process. 2. We technically had not paid her for wedding planning- only for the day of coordination - but she was happy to meet with me at length before the wedding and also met with the florist and my sister who was involved in the planning. She made a special site visit and made helpful suggestions to my sister. 3. Ann appears to be very experienced. She thought of issues to consider during the wedding planning which I never would have thought of including considering how to position readers in the ceremony seating arrangement, where parents most likely should sit, etc. She similarly gave helpful suggestions for the order of the procession. She recommended making lists of people to pick up centerpieces, leftover cake, and other equipment from the wedding so that the day of went more smoothly. I felt that her suggestions helped us feel more relaxed on the day of the event because many things were "taken care of." 4. When my sister discovered at the last minute that the chairs that arrived were incorrect, Ann spent time with the vendors and helped correct the problem. Behind the scenes, she took care of everything and I didn't even know about it. Minuses: 1. During the pre-wedding preparation periods, I started to notice that she failed to read most of the emails I sent her or CC'ed her on to update her on changes in plans. 2. At the rehearsal I was shocked to find that she had a beautiful timeline and outline of all the details of the wedding which she didn't seem familiar with (I heard her daughter puts the packet together for her). She was inefficient in conducting the rehearsal due to lack of familiarity with the details. 3. The day of the wedding she was often not present or readily available, even when we called her cell phone. 4. She failed to make sure corsages and bouquets were available for the photos even though we followed her timeline so she should have known when to bring them. 5. I heard afterward that she snapped at a family member who came to kindly ask why the candles for the ceremony had been removed. 6. When the time of the bouquet toss came I realized that she had not made the toss bouquet available to me and she was unavailable at that time. I ended up using my real bouquet which luckily i was ok with parting with. Overall, I will say this- my wedding turned out beautifully. I didn't feel that this was really because of Ann, but I think that she may have done some behind the scenes work that helped. There weren't any major disasters, but I wondered if she would have been able to handle it if there had been. A simpler and smaller wedding may make for a different story. In addition, her strengths may be more in helping with the planning process than in the hectic day of coordination.

Even so, it was still going to cost a pretty penny if we went with them. I searched here on Yelp for a reputable business to reach out to. After communicating with Jose, I provided him the exact services we wanted. He was very responsive, which I appreciated. He was able to give me a quote for way less. Based on some of the work he posted here on Yelp and on his website, I felt comfortable with the product and services that he was offering. Him and I worked entirely through email, but he was very professional and made sure to let me know the status of my inquiries. After taking this all into consideration, I decided to hire him for our event. We managed to get everything we needed at much more reasonable cost. It made a huge impact to know that he did his very best to meet our expectations. From the sound, to the perfect shade of up-lighting, to the great job collaborating with our team members and entertainers and his attention to detail. He was very responsive. I appreciate his suggestion and honesty when I had questions about if a backdrop on the stage would work when the band of 16 people would come in later the night of. He checked in with me throughout the whole process and made sure I didn't forget to pick the lighting color. The day of our wedding he even arrived early and left late to adjust our change of time for contract. All of our guest were happy with the music play list and the look of how the uplighting gave the hall a different look. As a queer Black/Asian couple, we were concerned with finding the right vendors for our wedding, who we could trust to be genuinely good to us. AMA has an incredible track record of working with queer couples and couples of color, which gave us so much peace of mind. Hiring AMA ended up being one of the smartest decisions we made in this entire process. From the initial budgeting conversations and all the way through our wedding weekend, Chanda and her team at AMA were helping us at every step, and our lead planner Tim'mya was very involved throughout. AMA found most of our vendors for us, and every vendor they brought us turned out to be excellent. We appreciated that for each vendor, they'd come back with a few thoughtful options that fit our vision and our budget, and we could just pick the one that felt the most right. The whole process felt genuinely collaborative: we'd tell them what we were dreaming up, and they'd find a way to make it happen. We constantly had several different ongoing threads in our planning portal, and we never hesitated to throw a half-formed idea into one of them in the middle of the night. In general, we'd wake up to find Tim'mya already working on it. Our wedding was a fusion of our two cultures, Chinese and Black American, and we were ambitious about how to present that blend in every detail. One of our non-negotiables was a venue that could do a custom menu drawing from both of our backgrounds and actually do it well, since we placed a huge importance on good food. AMA understood that immediately and helped us find exactly what we wanted. When we couldn't track down dumpling baskets at a price that made sense, Tim'mya went as far as sourcing a supplier from China (tariffs ended up killing the plan, but nevertheless this was above and beyond). Tim'mya never told us that something couldn't be done, and instead helped us think of creative solutions that would fit with our vision, without compromising on quality. AMA helped us pull off a truly demanding wedding weekend, which included a welcome party, the ceremony and reception, and a farewell brunch across three days, each with its own menu and dress code. AMA brought a full production team that handled all of our decor setup and kept us on track the entire time; our planner was running around nonstop so that we could just enjoy ourselves. It even surprised us how much we loved every single piece of it. After the welcome party alone, we turned to each other and said that if that had been the whole celebration, we'd have walked away happy. Then, the ceremony and reception was where our vision really came to life. A lush greenery installation floated above us during the ceremony, and at the reception our sweetheart table sat beneath a white backdrop cut with our family name, a gold dragon centerpiece in the middle, with wild tropical florals spilling over everything. We wanted to make sure the event was vibrant and colorful, and the details turned out even better than we imagined. Most of all, AMA gave us the freedom to be present at our own wedding. If she missed my call she returned it within minutes. Things got hectic leading up to our wedding day, and we couldn't get all the minor details to her. She reassured me she would make everything look great, and that's exactly what she did! There was also another Courtney helping her the day of, and she was amazing too! My son wanted to sit with his cousins, but of course that day he changed his mind and wanted to sit with us at our sweetheart table. Courtney took care of it within minutes, and brought his plate of food. Both Courtney's treated us like VIP's and we didn't have to do a thing! They had to switch an item in the timeline because the sun was setting and BAM it was all taken care of. Really all we had to do was tell Jackie what we wanted, drop off all of our materials 2 days before, and leave it all up to her. She was professional, communicative, and caring. The one thing I REALLY appreciated out of Jackie, was that she was so lax on the day of our wedding. She ran things along so smoothly but also didn't keep us to a super tight schedule and let things run it's course naturally. Even though the reception seems long, it's a lot to fit in in a short amount of time but Jackie didn't rush us or make us feel like we needed to do things at the exact moment the timeline was laid out. I didn't once feel wound up and she made me feel super relaxed. She also decorated all of the tables beautifully and really put together what I had envisioned and planned for for months. It was executed perfectly and all of our guests kept complimenting the venue and decorations. She also packed up all of our stuff at the end of the night so we just had to hop into the limo.
