Let me start by saying how much I love my Model 3. It's really saddening to see Tesla customer service be so short sighted. Everyone I ran into at the San Rafael location is super professional and kind, but the management clearly won't allow them to cover things that other manufacturers wouldn't hesitate to repair/replace at no cost. Rattling noise on rough roads. They want $150hr to drive around and find the source and find it. No flat rate estimate or cap on costs. Charging cord overheats and charges at half rate but they won't replace it.($500) Front and rear windows spontaneously cracked on the same day in high heat. They're trying to claim that it was two rock impacts. ($2000) I have witnesses that saw the progression. The stress was caused by the robotic installation pinching the two upper corners in on the front window. Q: How does a rock hit your back window? A: Cheap glass from China. Initially, they said they'd cover the rear window but after three days of not touching the car, they called to say that they won't cover it. After I blew a fuse, they said they'd cover half of the cost on the rear window. I did love the use of the loaner Model S. I would otherwise give one star for losing access to my car for four days on a job that takes one hour. read more

Horrible! This service center should be overhauled with new management. I drove 2 hours in Bay Area traffic just to have to turn around without getting my car fixed. We received a text stating we'd be able to receive alternative transportation which they consider Uber. What?! Seriously! You will be keeping my car 3-4 days & expect me to be Ubered all around. I think not. Curtis was our service rep & he began nicely but quickly turned on us with his arrogant, pretentious & pompous attitude & mannerisms towards us by making us feel unimportant & stupid for assuming we'd get a loaner car from them. We've received a loaner car at other Tesla service centers so why wouldn't I get one from you all & since the text said I would. Clearly a racists action towards us. The service center lobby area is a cold & degraded atmosphere. The area is uninviting & uncomfortable. The 40 inch TV which I had to ask to be turned on & they told me it didn't work. I won't be returning ever to this service center. We've tried Dublin & it was bad, but San Rafael Tesla Service Center is by far the worse. I plan on going all the way to Tesla corporation about my issue because this type of service & treatment given to Tesla customers is outrageous! As much money as we've spent on this car they should be bending over backwards with extraordinary service like we were promised when we bought the car. I haven't found any exceptional or even good service yet at any Tesla service center. Hopefully I one day I will. read more

Love love love this service center! I needed to get my tires rebalanced or so I thought, roadside recommended I come into this service center 1-2 hours from my call, and boom! Chris got me in, they immediately looked at my car and got started. As I waited in the waiting room area, the tech came to advise that the tires are balanced, and that they are replacing a tire under warranty because the foam has broken apart in one of the wheels. Fantastic place, I am very happy with the outcome, and the organized nature of this service center. 5 stars, and thank your Service Advisor Chris! read more

Went to the dealer and was told that they were busy and that we should have called before dropping by?? Poor service. I have had B.M.W.s , Mercedes , Porsche and Land Rover and will be going back to one them because Tesla's customer service is so bad I will never buy another Tesla . We had a X model and we still have a S model but I will NOT buy a new X or S from Tesla or any Tesla because of there lack of service . My Tesla S front right wheel was not holding air , the upgraded Tesla wheel has a crack on the inside of the wheel . Tesla is trying to charge me over $1,700. to replace the wheel when a local tire shop can do it for $600. Not only this should be covered by the warranty but you can not make contact with anyone in there service department by making a phone call and when I asked for a loaner ( through there app ) while I waiting a week for an appointment NO RESPONSE ? If Tesla does not change it's attitude towards customers I predict they will go out of business in the next 5 years . If you buy a Tesla be prepared to be tread like we have your money now you have to deal with us . When you pay $100,000. for a vehicle you should expect to be able to contact someone that can help you with any problems with your car . read more

This place does not do Tesla justice. The service is extremely poor for such a high quality car. It is always one problem after another and they don't even seem to care to help. Every representative in there seems like helping customers is a chore rather than a pleasure. As a car concierge/consultant I help my clients out with all of their car issues. Im not going to go into all of my Tesla experiences, I feel it wouldn't reflect the good work they have done (in general) with their vehicles. I assisted one of my clients with the sale of his model x. I went over to Tesla in San Rafael to have the vehicle inspected. It was Monday. They told me next Wednesday. I politely asked if I could leave the car there and if they could squeeze it in or had a cancelled appointment. The response was curt, "We don't do that type of thing" There was also a sign on the window that stated "Due to our concerns about the environment we will no longer be offering a car wash service" I politely said "You don't offer car washes anymore, you don't try to accommodate clients that are asking for a possibility of a cancelled appointment" Then I asked the real important question. "Who buys these pieces of shit" Ive sold cars to one of the designers of Tesla and one of the chief engineers. Ive asked them questions about certain things and they told me that they can't answer my questions. Anyhow, i booked the appointment and turned up on Wednesday at 12pm. I had booked that slot. Guess what? The service advisor told me the techs have changed appointments because they were busy. I asked him if the techs could do that without informing the service advisor and in turn maybe I would be informed. Truth be told, I knew this would happen. I was expecting it. Of all the questions I have about Tesla, the main one is...Why do the staff have an air of superiority? Almost aloof in their conduct. Trust me, im no shrinking violet and couldn't be intimidated by anyone. Everyone one of my clients that have a Tesla would not buy another one. I actually think they've done well product wise. If I could get zero stars I would. 10:15 AM appointment the vehicle wasn't even looked at all day. Offered no condolences or apologies for my inconvenience upon picking the vehicle up. They lack communication among their own staff. My brand new 75D had major issues right out of the factory. First the charge cable was ill fitting and had to be forced into the charge port for the green charge light to come on. Then within minutes, the port light turned red and all charging quit. I could not charge the car that had only 600 miles on its odometer. They fixed the first issue by removing and replacing the charge port. Now the cable fit into the car smoothly and the green light came on immediately without forcing the connection. They delivered the fixed car to my house and I drove the car around town a bit to test everything and attempted to charge the car once it was back in the garage at home. The cable fit in fine and the green charging OK light came on. Within a matter of seconds, the RED charge interrupted light came on. They had not fixed the second issue, the red light and charge interruption issue. And to a point, the car had only 113 miles of charge when it was delivered, which means about 140 miles when it left the Tesla shop. That was about what the miles to go were when I dropped the car off at their place. They hadn't done a thing about actually charging the car. Yet that was the second issue they were supposed to be fixing. It's not clear to me that the second issue, the charge interruption one, was even conveyed to the service people who worked on the car. And if it was, it was clear they failed to test that issue using the cable that came with my car. If they had, they would have found it still would not charge. I'm only guessing, but I'm guessing that if they did work on the charging issue they tested their fix using their own wall charging devices, not the cable from my car. So the next day Tesla Service San Ramon sent me a loaner Tesla anticipating that their driver would take my car back to the shop. But I stopped him before he left with my car and asked, "Did you bring the extra cable I asked for?" He had no clue what I was talking about. I had asked Daniel my service rep in all this to send an extra cable so that I could test my car with a different cable. He clearly did not communicate that with the driver...thus the three star rating. Fortunately, there was a different cable in the loaner car anyway. So we swapped cables and guess what...worked like a charm. And because I insisted on testing another cable, I avoided having to send my car back for a second visit of their shop in three days. C'mon guys...you need to communicate better than you're doing. read more

Very disappointing after having such great service for all other service centers in the Bay Area. Me: Had a condensation buildup in a rear tail light and had it served at this site, picked the car up that night. The next morning while in SF I noticed that condensation was till present and there was a scratch just below where the work was done. Took it back and was told that the wrong lamp assembly was replaced ... fine, and that if there was any damage, that the tech would of notified the manager. (Yeah right). I was left with no option but to repair myself. The following week the sunroof shuffled while opening and had to be serviced. In short, I had to take it back three times for the same issue within two weeks and when I picked it up late evening, the next morning while in SF I noticed that I had grease all over my pant legs and discovered the all of the front as well as the rear seats had Mechanic's grease on them all. I had to stop by the SF center to have them degreased. The same day when I stopped for a charge I noticed two dings on the roofline in the area of the sunroof repair that was never there before as well as several abrasions to the leather in the rear seats which I never use. I went back to the San Rafael center to notify of the concern as was given the same line as before... that if there was any damage, that the tech would of notified the manager. (Yeah right). As of 8-14-19 I'm still seeking a resolution. BTW. When the first incident had happened with the scratch from the first repair; before the center took possession of my vehicle, I purposely did a 360 walk of the car with the service rep. to insure of no ambiguity of any kind related to imperfection to my cars exterior condition. read more

Yes, as good as it gets. After purchasing a pre-owned Tesla Model S almost entirely on the Tesla website (a great experience, BTW), I got a brake fluid warning while parked on a steep hill. Iwas directed to the San Rafael Service Center on a Saturday mid-afternoon, where Daniel and Justin booked me for immediate next-year service, including the brake fluid, gave me a loaner, and arranged for the free replacement of some worn interior parts. They were both communicative and extremely helpful, answering a bunch of questions, and getting all the work on the car done timely. By close of biz Monday I was back in my own car, which purred quietly and smoothly up and down our steep driveway, no more warning. Service was attentive, efficient, and excellent! read more

I went to this service center to have a side glass replaced on my Model 3. Both Phil and Dan, who assisted me, were professional and very courteous. My vehicle was done sooner than expected and actually at a cheaper price that other outside glass companies had quoted me (when is a dealership ever cheaper?!?). I noticed that all the staff there introduced themselves to customers and seemed to explain things well. Offered Uber credits if I needed to go elsewhere or back to work while repairs being done. Overall, this seemed like a good service center for your Tesla. I will revisit this location for future work. read more

This Tesla shop has got to be the most unorganised of all repair shops. This review is about multiple visits to this Tesla San Rafel store. The first time, I went up there, the front desk person doesn't know what she is doing. All I want is to ask her to find a technician to show me some of the functions of my new S model as well as check on some loose item inside the car. After 45 minutes she finally made an appointment for me and reserved a loner car for me. When I went for the appointment, they told me there were no loaner car available and I had to come back. Couple of other appointments, I got the same run around and had to demand service before I got any attention. This Monday, I went up there to get an estimate for replaceing my passenger side rear view mirror knocked off by a bus. Again no one is at the font desk, after waiting for over15 minutes with Tesla people walking in and out, but no one acknowledge me. I just grabbed one of them who took down my information and checked the Vin # and told me I had to check inat the front desk. I waited another 5-10 minutes, but still no one showed up. I grapped another technician who took all the information from me a second time and promised to call me in a couple of hours with the estimate and an apt. time.Three days later, no one from Tesla have contacted me. Guess I will have to go to another shop. read more

This team is very professional and polite. My 2014 Model S had "The Problem" with the driver's side door handle and it froze open and would not work. I freaked out because I've had the car for less than a month - and I sort of like getting INTO my car!!! I called several times and only got voicemail, so I emailed them. The next morning I got a response from Dan first thing in the morning. He sincerely apologized for the lack of response and worked me right in for an appointment. When I got to San Rafael, they couldn't fix it right away but gave me a loaner vehicle. The handle was fixed that day and they were able to deliver it to me (I live in Windsor so it's a long commute to San Rafael). Adam, who checked me in, and everyone else there is friendly and knowledgeable. The location is a bit funky - it's in a warehouse location. Look for the sandwich board sign (!!) and just dive slowly down the warehouse side until you see a bunch of Teslas. But the lobby is very nice and clean, and they have a nice lounge with snacks, coffee and a TV. I had planned to sit in a corner with a book for a couple of hours, but since they were so busy I took the loaner car and went to work (sigh, I would have loved the chance to get back to my Kindle!), Tyler, who delivered my car, told me San Rafael is the second busiest service location in the nation, so just be a little flexible. Hopefully, Tesla will open another service location in the Santa Rosa area, but until then, I'm happy this crew is there to take care of my car as needed. read more

called to schedule my 2nd annual service for my P85D. The representative had attitude and would not guarantee a loaner despite telling me that they could need the car overnight. Generally, he was unfriendly and certainly not helpful. Since I would be coming from Santa Rosa, that arrangement was not going to work. So I called the service department at the San Francisco location and they offered me my choice of a loaner or Uber ride, whichever I preferred. Plus, Victoria in SF was very friendly and helpful. Bottom line, if you need service go to San Francisco and avoid San Rafael. read more

We came in to pick up our $120,000 brand new car we waited 3 months for. We arrived early because we were a)excited and b) traffic was light. When we came in the front desk person rudely told us "we can accommodate you at your appointed time". Really? After sitting outside until our appointed time the salesperson we had worked with isn't there but we get a young woman who could not explain the paperwork and told us the "best thing you can do is sit in the car and push every button in it". Seriously? During the endless wait I made the colossal mistake of touching another car and the paperwork chic screamed "don't touch that how would you like someone to touch your car?". The bathroom was locked for the better part of our visit because "someone is in there" only to find out no one was in there the door had accidentally locked. And finally we didn't get our red brakes we were promised...more to be revealed. Good thing the car is amazing but Tesla you need some training on customer service asap. For the cost of the car the customer service should be extraordinary, not rude and obnoxious. If you're taking delivery go to Burlingame where we drive our car. Owning a Tesla and experiencing any help from them is an effortless, pleasant, and always positive experience. I put this rating at mid-level because I found the service of Tesla inside sales incredibly unhelpful I did want to publish a nugget of positive information for her other prospective Tesla owners in the San Rafael area. I'm trying to help my friend understand whether she should purchase a Tesla since I love my tesla X. However when you scan for local supercharging stations nothing shows up except very far away. According to Tesla customer support a tesla supercharging station is planned for Central San Rafael by the end of the calendar year. When I asked the remote help desk (apparently warehoused in Las Vegas) that this would be very helpful information to make available to prospective purchasers in the area and asked her to pass that onwards internally she refused. She said I had to go and submit an email to a separate Tesla address, which is all together too much trouble as a mandatory mechanism for passing on customer input. I've never ran across an organization that out right refused to take customer input when you're talking to their customer frontline group. Anyway, I thought the news of the future Supercharging station was at least positive news that should be shared read more
