While on the older side, with only 8 V2 150kW Supercharger stalls which split power when shared, this location is extremely popular and often gets full during busy, prime time hours. Queues are still an issue at times but things have gotten progressively better as 3 more locations nearby opened up in the last year that are faster and in some ways more convenient for those in a hurry to get going. What really makes this Supercharger great despite some of the shortcomings, is the location. You have just enough time to shop at the nearby Whole Foods and so it's like it didn't cost you any additional time at all. Furthermore, there is a decent amount of mostly healthy food options nearby such as Mendocino Farms. Heck, you can even go to the gym! Lastly, you can walk over to the small park area and watch the ducks and other animals enjoying the pond in the neighborhood. Overall, while there are much faster and better options nearby for those who want to just top off and go, this Supercharger is conveniently located and has some great amenities to offer to those who don't mind staying a little longer. read more

I think as the supercharger network has expanded in the bay, this has become somewhat of a hidden gem for me and my charging habits. Cheaper rates (During off peak hours) compared to a lot of the other chargers in the Bay and usually decent amounts of room in the morning. The chargers are older and they don't seem to hang back on to their hooks as well and people don't seem to take the time to make sure they don't just fall back down. read more

This is a great super charging station, but it's almost always full. I've been lucky a few times getting in right away, and it's usually in the middle of the day. One nice thing they do is offer complementary valet and if there is a line, they will take care of moving and plugging in your car for you so you can grab a bite to eat or go grocery shopping. There is a Whole Foods there with some restaurant choices, even around the block. If you really have some time to kill and feel adventurous, there is a BevMo nearby:) If only they could add more stations... read more

Woefully inadequate number of SuperChargers. A part-time Tesla teammate on site does help with ensuring fossil fuel cars do not park in the Tesla only spaces. Intended for long distance travel and short-charge (less than 10-15 minutes), I suspect this has become a daily filling station for some. read more

This charger sucks. Not only is it located funky (at the entrance/exit of a parking garage in a tight spot), but the charging speed blows here. Came by on a Monday night around 6pm, got on with about 60 miles of range, everyone's charging, and I got like 35 kw. Whole Foods nearby helps burn time but seriously dude, this needs to be a larger spot and better dedicated speeds. read more

Sometime free isn't worth it.... When I bought my Model X a few months back, one of the things that really appealed to me was the SuperCharger network. Tesla owners have access to FREE charging stations all over the world. It's cool enough that my car is all electric, no emissions. Pair that with the opportunity for free energy sometimes (think free tanks of gas for you fossil fuel heathens) and it's a great proposition. At least on the surface. In the Bay Area there are several. For my job I regularly visit clients in the South Bay, City and Peninsula, so the SuperChargers in San Mateo and Mountain View are opportunities to get free power while I'm running around so that I don't have to pay so much for energy when I charge at home. The SuperCharger facility in San Mateo is only marginally useful for me. First, it only has 8 slots, and with a location conveniently off the 101 freeway that's just not enough capacity. There are too many Tesla owners in this area taking advantage of free charging, and as a result there is usually a wait. The second issue is the wait itself. It takes about an hour to fully charge a car from almost empty to full at a SuperCharger, however most people like me don't go there on empty and fill all the way. I usually only charge for 20 minutes tops and go on my way, and that's the courteous thing to do, but some jackholes in the area use the SuperChargers for parking. They drop off their car, plug it in, and leave for a long time. I've actually seen people get dropped off back at their car from somebody else's vehicle, which is a pretty good indicator that they went off-site for a long time and wasted space. Third, SuperChargers are not the most pleasant place to be when they are over-capacity and there is a long line. This location is particularly bad because no thought went into how to queue the line for waiting. The chargers are along the edge of a very busy parking lot/parking structure with lot of traditional cars zooming in and out. The cars waiting for a charge are in these people's way. They get pissed about it. There's a lot of backing up and moving forward and getting out of the way during the afternoons. Also, the attitude of many Tesla owners while waiting is just too much. The only thing worse than a wealthy person with a sense of entitlement is a whole pack of 'em, and that's what you get at a SuperCharger, all these mafluent types who think they're the most elite, with more valuable time and priorities. So they zoom in, get pissy about being at the back of the line and start asking around to see if somebody will let them move up. They ask the attendant if they can sneak in for a quickie. It's so annoying. I pass through here a couple times a week, hoping I can grab a quick bite next door while my car gets some free juice. Three times out of four I don't stop because it's not worth it, even though it's free. I have serious concerns about this location being a long-term, useful charge site for Tesla owners. The user base is growing faster than capacity. If Tesla can't adequately serve customers with free energy, fine, but they need to stop over-selling it when they offer the cars. In the meantime, add 8 more slots, that should hold things for a couple years as long as the Model 3 doesn't get free power too. read more

The worst supercharger I've been to around the Bay Area. During peak times I have never gotten over 35kw. I thought it was my car at first but after bringing my other Tesla and asking others they have also confirmed slow charging speeds. To add to that, two of the stations are always broken as well. If you're in the area, it would be better to go to one of the nearby supercharges if possible. Save your time and go elsewhere read more

This was one of the super chargers I used while traveling. I was expecting the worst based on other reviews so I was pleasantly surprised when I had a good overall experience. I used the facility on a Sunday afternoon, probably not be as busy as other days. There were 3 cars ahead of me but the attendants did a wonderful job making sure nobody holds up a spot after charging is complete. The capacity is way better than Vacaville. I got 45-60kW compared to 12-30kW in Vacaville. read more

The station is nice the people who charge here not so much. They seem to always been full and nobody is ever actually in their car. Many times we just need a 10 min top off to get home in Oakland and these fools wanna charge for an hour each. During the day we've seen Tesla valet guys here because clearly they have an issue with people charging too long. What about at night???? Dude go home and charge. read more

There are better locations to charge your Tesla. This place is crowded and despite valet service the location is far from ideal. Most recently the valet directs drivers into the garage and wait on roof of garage. Makes sense as there can do many Teslas waiting near the charger and affecting traffic and ability for local visitors ability to park. I think it's time to find a different location for Tesla to grow. This is the closest supercharger south of san Francisco and deserves a better location. I do love the easy on and off going southbound on 101. read more

This place sucks. There is simply no place to charge your car. I tried to come here twice, and it's always full. 8 slots is simply not enough in San Mateo, which is just in the heart of Silicon Valley. They need to have like 20-30 slots here. They should probably also have a timer so that people can only charge 30 minutes, and then their cars will be booted. I drove all the way here to get a charge, only to waste my miles. I would only come here if you are actually close by and happen to be here, but don't make a special trip to come here. read more
