I was walking up and down Roosevelt Avenue trying to find stores and lo and behold I see a Teso Life they are all over Flushing and in Manhattan too. I saw another Yelper photo of the 1/2 match and 1/2 vanilla ice cream cone and wanted to get one. I looked at their fridge and did not see any of them, but saw a lot of other refreshing items. Since I was on a mission and pressed for time to find these three other shops. I took pictures of items to get the next I come back with more time to shop at Teso Life. Clear and clean aisles. Items on shelf had pricing so you know cost of the object you want to purchase. Tons of selection for snack and candies. This little boy was grabbing different variety of candy. Was impressed with the amount of items stocked at this Teso Life from edible items to cosmetics and kitchen products too. I have so many great things to say about this place, but I will first start with how aesthetically pleasing it is. Everything is white, clean, with soft, even lines. Everything is set up in such a way that your eyes are drawn from the top to the bottom. Nothing makes you feel overwhelmed, if anything you feel welcomed into the store. And it's extremely easy to just knock everything into your shopping cart. Everything looks so good. Now let me get into what I bought. I purchased about $40 in products from this location, and when I travel for work, I try to bring my boyfriend home a goodie bag and usually it's full of snacks from places I've been or things that he hasn't tried before. Teso Life has everything that you would want if you were visiting Chinatown, and if you spend more than $40 you get to spin a wheel for the prize! I ended up winning a $10 gift card which I put in the bag and gave to my boyfriend as incentive to get him to come to New York with me more lol. Love this store, go in once in awhile. So many snacks, desserts, drinks, cosmetics, makeup, etc to choose from. Got ice cream from here for the 1st time. This half matcha, half vanilla very frozen soft serve cone was a bit too bitter for me. The agar agar jelly ($2.39) candy was pretty good. I had 2 and then couldn't anymore cuz it was too much sugar. Very different from homemade agar due to different ingredients (my mom uses coconut water & coconut milk). This one has artificial flavors. I grabbed a pack of the mochi truffle ($4) as soon as I saw it. My sister also grabbed a pack when she saw mine. Whoever came up with this idea is a genius. I've loved mochi since the 1st time I tried it. Mochi ice cream is great too but the mochi isn't as chewy since it's frozen. This however, is my fave so far outta all the mochi flavors & types I've tried. I absolutely love dark chocolate & this has cocoa dusted on the outside. It's chewy but not as much as plain mochi since the center also has chocolate in it. This is the best mochi/chocolate I've gotten so far. Words cannot describe how much I love this product. I grabbed a box of the Takuma dried crab ($5) since I was intrigued cuz I'd never seen small, dried crab like that. My sister's friend said it was good but man, did I regret wasting $5 on this. Idk what kinda seasoning they use, but it just tasted horrible to me. The seasoning was very strong & the stench of dried seafood was strong. It was sweet since they add sugar but I couldn't get rid of the horrible taste & smell of this product from my mouth. Even after I brushed my teeth, I felt like I could still smell & taste it. I don't recommend this product at all, unless you've tried it before & you like it. I love myulchi which is sweet, dried, tiny fish, so I thought I'd love this as well. Boy, was I wrong. As few weeks back my friend brought these awesome Japanese snacks and shared it with us. Its not the usual snacks that you'll see in the Chinese Asian Markets. The snacks that she gave was so good that I had to asked her where she got them so I can go and get some of them for myself. They have a few location but the one I checked out was in Flushing. Walking in, I knew right away I was in for a treat. Their store is fully stocked and I immediately went to the snack aisle and there was plenty to choose from. Their pricing seems to be a lot cheaper then the Sunrise Market that I go to at Industrial City and they have more varieties to choose from. Since I was pressing for time, I couldn't really stroll around and enjoy the unique items that this store had to offer. Came here last night to explore the snacks I heard this place sells. I live near a lot of H&Y or Y mart supermarkets, so I was looking for things I don't typically see there. There is plenty to look at, I definitely spent a lot of time trying to pick some of the perfect items. One that stood out to me was making your own candy sushi. I come to Teso Life for one thing and one thing only: Japanese flavored Kit Kats! Of all the other various places which sell these Kit Kats, Teso Life consistently has the widest variety of flavors (not just the usual matcha, dark chocolate and strawberry). Yes, they are a little pricey, but they are imported and hard to get; so worth it if you want to treat yourself (or others). They even have high-end gift boxes of unique flavors (ex: Saki!). As others have complained about this store, yes, the aisle are very narrow and cramped. I came early on a Sunday morning, and it wasn't so bad. Ideally, you should come during "off-peak" hours to have a more enjoyable experience. Or....go to their new larger location, also in Flushing! I think I have a Kit Kat obsession, no comment from the Peanut Gallery please. After reading about this spot from a few Yelp Elites, I am hooked! By the time this draft publishes, I think I've made two trips here in one month's time. Dangerous on my wallet and waistline. I found many varieties of Kit Kats imported from Japan on my travels and around the city in general but no one beats their variety thus far. On my visits here, I managed to find three special Japan exotic flavors: Amaou Strawberry, Sake Plum, and Sake Peach! Not to mention the other fun kinds: dark chocolate, matcha green, green tea, Chestnut, Cranberry Almond, Purple potato, Sweet Potato, Red Bean, Lemon, and Strawberry Cheesecake! Some flavors are hit or miss but half the fun is trying. Prices range from $4.99 - $14.99, custom boxes for gift giving too. I've also noticed they sell home products for the kitchen, facial products, makeup, gifts, socks, and fun toys - everything awesome from Japan. This store has some cool products. Some hard to find cosmetics, household products, toys and snacks. I had a good time roaming the aisle and looking at the various items in the store. Most of the items are imported from Asia so it was fun checking them out. The store is big, bright and nicely organized. Unlike other stores, like Daiso, the store doesn't feel overly stocked and confusing. The snack aisles were my favorite to peruse. There are some great snacks offered here, like strawberry cheesecake Kit Kats, mango creamy soda and matcha green tea jelly. A lot of the items are unique and hard to find but I found a lot of the them to be overpriced. A small bag of garden flavored chips for $4?! A travel mug for $40! Experience: This was my first time at any Teso shop. I came in here after seeing all their little piggy toys in the window. This store carried so much more than what you can see from outside the store windows. I was surprised that there was a fridge of fresh Japanese snacks such as mochi. I found chips here that I used to have to bring all the way from Hong Kong. There were brands that I've definitely seen while shopping in HK. It was nice to see brands that I recognized. Came to Teso as I was walking around Roosevelt looking for skincare products, since Roosevelt is the place to go for Asian skincare and haircare products. Teso has a wide variety of items, from snacks to knickknacks and personal care products. I've come to Teso before with my friend, so I knew there was a good amount of personal care products, but didn't really look around until this time. Man there's a lot of stuff and it was totally overwhelming. Would definitely recommend doing some research beforehand. The skincare products range from about $10 - 300. But if you're not prepared you can ask one of the sales people, there's about 3-6 of them all in that one little area. My daughters love to browse the aisles but be prepared to bump into people and the fully stocked shelves because it's tight and very crowded. Stock here is extremely sufficient and well organized. The issue I have with this Teso Life is that the staff members are rude. One staff was walking around looking down at his phone so he'd walk into the middle of the isle not concerned about customers such as myself who's there to look around and shop. While I was in the make up section, a staff shouted at another staff which also happens to be right into my ear. I winced and dodged in pain as the shouting staff had no reaction and continued to shout to the other staff in Mandarin. Next up is check-out, I went to check out my items in my basket and the staff that was charging me wrung up the items and I was rummaging through my bag for the Teso Life prepaid card. She saw the cash and the credit cards I was digging through and she kept repeating to me, "Your total is 14.56..." "14.56 please" "Miss? 14.56." "It's 14.56!" Keep in mind, there's no line or anyone behind me and there's another cashier ready to take anyone else who's trying to check out. She kept rushing me until I found the Teso Life prepaid card and then she switched to ask me if I was a member and I said no. Note: I went to the other Teso Life in flushing to meet up with my bf and he bought some stuff so I used my Teso Life prepaid card and they asked me about the membership and I said no and they offered to help me sign up and explain about points system etc. What a breath of fresh air. read more

Note: it's just one floor, and not big in sq ft. Which was a bit disappointing, because I thought it was going to be like Japan's daiso stores of japan's DonQi stores, but was not. There was a good selection of snacks. A lot more expensive than regular Asian super market. Even a little pricier than like a HMART. They also have the signature tin can Japanese cookies in the blue boxes sold at all Japanese airports - so that was impressive. And same brand of those famous cookies, they had the pudding! When banzai closed I was pretty bummed but in its place is now a fun convenience store filled with korean and japanese and other asian type goodies. Perusing the aisles I saw a lot of things that appeal to me. They had japanese sodas in orange, peach and watermelon flavors, different types of tea like milk teas, matcha, cherry blossom sakura and some apple and lemon tea leaves that looked interesting. There was an assortment of cakes, chocolate banana desserts and frozen mochi in the fridge section. There were also two aisles full of asian snacks like special kitkats, wasabi, seaweed and matcha snacks, pikachu cookies, ramen noodles and the like. Some can be found in the neighboring chinese markets and for a bit cheaper but its fun to dig around and see what they have thats different. They also had different stationary and household kitchen items for sale and an area dedicated to asian beauty products. The checkout line gets pretty long during the weekend since this store is pretty new. If you want to pick up some hello kitty soy sauce, fancy premium chocolates or a rillakuma doll this is the place for you. read more

A good selection of Japanese products are available here, ranging from makeup and skincare to kitchen supplies to snacks to stationary to plush animals. And everything is priced acceptably - it's like an upscale dollar store. I bought a pair of kitchen shears, a scrubber, and a utensil holder for under $8. Pretty sweet! I will say that I do wish they had a premium selection alongside the cheaper stuff, as I wouldn't mind spending a little more money on a higher quality knife for example, but I guess that's not the niche they're aiming to fill. Of note is their selection of ready-to-eat or near ready-to-eat foods in the refrigerators. They've got desserts like mille crepe cakes, and particularly of note, ramen noodles. It's always been easy to get your hands on noodles in Flushing, but not ramen noodles. Also, they're open pretty late! I've always felt that stores around downtown Flushing, and really NYC at large, closed too early and thus didn't take advantage of nighttime business. I was in there at around 11pm and they were still fully open for business. Not sure what their hours are, but that's pretty impressive. Oh, and to seal the deal, there's no credit card minimum. Sadly Banzai closed down.. yesterday morning as soon as I walked in this store in the front were a little disorganized & a guy in grey shirt was busy texting on the phone instead of focusing on customer. The aisles need to be a little more bigger where people could come by and go. It's just too tiny for people to pass by that I have to bump into a lady with her stroller. Most of the snacks, noodles packet, drinks they have in teso life they have it at other supermarkets. So nothing new about that. While I was passing by this place few times when they were under construction. They had teso life wallpaper covered on the door. I thought that they were gonna have Royce chocolate but they didn't. They have shampoo, snacks, drinks, bathroom stuff, and etc. I had to give 4 out of 5 stars is because I didn't find what I wanted it which was the mist empty bottle. They have soap pumping bottle, lotion bottle but not mist. Also the workers is on you, they follow you even though you don't need help. I love Japanese snacks and stationary! But to say the least- they're very rarely found so concentrated in a single store that's not in the vicinity of a well established "Japanese" neighborhood. I'm glad a Teso opened up in flushing :). This place has a variety of snacks that seemingly cover the entire store. The inside is very clean and well kept; objects are where they're supposed to be. In addition, they always have sales that rotate every week! I was here a week ago and they had hatomugi rice water (a toner of sorts for your face), and face wash on sale, this week, they had cotton wipes and sun screen on sale. The prices here aren't necessarily bad... they're sometimes cheaper than what you would be able to find on amazon. Teso also offers a point system where each dollar spent equates to one point, and when you collect 100 points, you get a $5 coupon off your purchase. It is free to join the point system, and probably takes like 45 seconds to register as the cashier will only ask for your phone number and last name before registering you into their membership system. The employees are pretty nice to. I really appreciate it when store employees occasionally ask if you need help-- rather than stalking you like a hawk. Teso employees are well informed on the uses of each product, and if you're unsure of what a certain product is, don't be afraid to ask them for help! read more

Teso Life is a new addition to the Flushing neighborhood (which is a huge plus!) Welcome, Teso Life! Its former self was Banzai, also a Japanese discount store ranging from household supplies to kitchen gadgets. It also reminds me of Daiso Japan or the Japan Home Centre (JHC) discount stores from Hong Kong. For the most part, I enjoy walking up and down the aisles. I just wish that the aisles could've been more spacious because two people can't fit in the same aisle at the same time. I was surprised to see an entire aisle of baking tools!!! And boy, I was even happier to come upon a doughnut cutter (which I've been trying to find a stainless steel one that isn't too expensive for quite some time, since I can't seem to find a donut pan that will fit snugly in my little toaster oven). The donut cutter is $1.50 (a SUPER GOOD deal!) They're also selling bento making tools like flower-shaped cutters, utensil-shaped cookie cutters, big and small stainless steel tart molds that come in a pack of 2 (Note: $1.39 for small tart molds & $1.49 for the bigger ones), toaster oven baking trays, and disposable piping bags with the tips (either included with the pastry bags or sold separately ~ but still pretty cheap in my book). The Japanese snacks are a bit more expensive @ Teso Life, so I would buy them from other Asian supermarkets instead. Some Yelpers mentioned that they got followed around by the staff while looking through stuff, but I didn't experience that in my case. A girl who works there even handed me a basket when she saw me holding a few items in my hands. I ended up getting the donut cutter and 2 packs of tart molds (aka 4 molds in total). Cute little store! I happened into this store after having dinner with a friend. I was attracted to the decor which was bright, clean and inviting. All of the products were asian which I loved. I love finding international products. I would equate this store to an asian CVS. There was so many interesting items, from food to toiletries to cosmetics. I didn't go through the entire store, just the front which appear to be the cosmetics area. I did purchase a facial mask. There were three varieties. I had to ask one of the employees to translate what was in on the box as none of it was in english. I was told the three mask targeted moisture, anti aging and one that lightened your skin. I opted for the moisturizing mask. It was reasonably priced at $6.99. From the prices I was able to read, the store is pretty pricey, but if you like finding new and interesting items, check them out. While i did not explore the entire store, I'm giving it a four star because it was very clean, organized and the employees were all very friendly. A fantastic Japanese addition to Roosevelt Street. I adore these little shops with their seemingly endless supply of goods from housewares to beauty to snacks and drinks. There is a lot to look at so take your time! My only gripe is that the mark up for the beauty products is quite a lot. My advice would be to look online for specific products to get a feel of price but truth be told, the instant gratification of having the products in your hand is hard to beat ;) Highly recommend! read more
