They are incredibly welcoming and so entertaining to be around. I can always expect a great cup of coffee and a great conversation. When I was going through a difficult time, they made sure to check up on me every time I walked through the door and always allowed me to stay and work quietly in the background. Best kept secret in McKinney! We found this place in a Yelp search, and decided to check it out (it was only 2 miles from where we were eating lunch.) They've been in this location for going on 7 years now!!! One thing to make clear: the name is not Pacific Tradewinds as listed on Yelp. It's TexaKona Coffee Roasters. I tried an 8 oz. chai latte, while my boyfriend ordered an 8oz. latte and a sample of one of the medium roasts (can't remember which one). My chai latte was fantastic (much better than Starbucks), as was the regular latte. We also purchased a bag of the Swahili Six Gun coffee beans and have been extremely pleased with that purchase. I want a bag of the Journalist beans next! We found out that Dave (the roaster) gives tours on Saturdays, and Gregg (our barista) gives terrific recommendations on the coffee. We were happy to discover a second location will be opening soon near the old flour mill downtown and look forward to visiting that location. Before we left, Dave gave us a sample package of their special Texas pecan coffee brittle. You'll love it!!! Found this place online while looking for some Kona coffee. I found that you can order online for delivery or pick up but they also have a storefront where you can see where the beans are brewed. We opted to drive over to experience where the beans are made. Once you enter the building everything is in view as they have an open concept floor. You can see the employees trying new brews and other people roaring beans. We sampled the Kona cowboy coffee and decided to get 2 bags Kona blend and one Colombian blend. read more

What a pleasant surprise to walk in and feel the flavor of my home state of Hawaii! The coffee was home blend and so delicious that you seriously can drink it "black" w/o the cream & sugar. It's that good!! Best part is the coffee is free so I bought a $6 loyalty card for 3 lattes. Can't wait to try that on my next visit. No "good eats" here outside of oatmeal and breakfast bars; the bars are GF and yummy! This place is warm, inviting and the young man at the counter was so nice & knowledgeable. Tours of the coffee grinding is available too. The location is off the beaten path but right next door to the golf course so you don't have to jockey for a parking spot as you would in the Square. Stopped in with my wife and was a quaint little place and really interesting with all it's museum artifacts. We were greeted by a middle aged friendly female clerk that was really informative and brewed samples for us. The coffee was pretty decent. So why the 3 stars? I hesitated at first, but I decided to write a review to warn future patrons. I asked the clerk from two feet away how much the coffee was per pound. She said $6.50. Was really surprised and my wife agreed it was a good price. We then sampled another cup and I thought for $6.50, why not get two lbs of different varieties. I then asked her again a *second time* how much per lb. She looked at me, smiled and clearly said six-fifty. So I grabbed two lbs and when she rang me up, the total was $33.00. Took me by surprise and I asked her again how much they were. She then said $16.50 Folks, this is a really sad attempt to make more sales. We were the only ones in the shop and were literally 2 feet away when I asked the price both times. Although she was nice and the coffee good - it really left a bad taste in my mouth on her *bait & switch* price scam. Really unbelievable and I was really surprised how little it affected her to lie blatantly to us. Probably would be a repeat customer, but won't because of what happened. Buyer beware.... read more

Took the roasting tour with Dave this morning, very informational. He is funny, but you can sense that he takes roasting seriously. He has a book that records every roast they have ever done. We tried a few coffees and left with a fresh lb that we watched him roast, plus another lb that was roasted earlier in the day. Well worth the trip and the coffee was amazing. PATRICK took us on a fun tour that shows you the whole process from "naked" coffee bean to the finished product. They have scheduled events and you can rent their facility out for your own small event. Take some time, it's something refreshing to do and you won't be disappointed. The coffee here is amazing! It is a great place to hang with friends since they have a pool table that you can play. The workers are so kind and are always happy to help with any of your needs. The area is very inviting and just makes you want to stay awhile. They have a little "secret" menu that has all of their sweet and candy inspired drinks on it. Their drinks are very affordable. I went with my family and we got 3 drinks for only $6! I absolutely recommend everyone to try this place out even though it may be a bit out of the way it is definitely worth it! read more
