I honestly wonder if the 5 star reviews are from friends of the owners, or people who are content to look at their phones for a half hour or longer while waiting to be served. My husband and I have tried to eat here twice. BOTH times, which were at different times of day, and different days of the week.. we had a hard time getting waited on. Both times we had to wait about 20 minutes to get brought menus. Another 15-20 minutes *after* we finished looking at the menus until someone would come over to take our order. At this point both times we still didn't have the water or coffee/soda we'd requested. (One visit was during breakfast time, another during lunch time). Once our orders were taken, both times we waited about 20+ minutes to get our drinks, and then both times we waited another 45 minutes. Yes. 45 minutes in addition to the 20 minutes waiting for a drink which is over an hour wait after ordering and still no food. Both times there were only a few other customers in there, so we finally went to the counter and offered to pay for our drinks, that we were leaving. Both times someone would barely glance at us before saying we didn't have to pay for them. So we'd leave and after this happened during breakfast time, we went across the street to Whattaburger. One of our favorite places to get a tasty breakfast. We've not been let down yet by the food or service. The chicken fried steak is really good. It's not overwhelmed by the crust like some places. Eggs are always poached perfectly when ordering eggs Benedict and each dish has a little southern twist. I have been back twice in the past three weeks for breakfast, both times I ordered two eggs over medium, sausage patties, hash browns and toast, the first time there four people in the place and the second trip twelve people we there, both times the eggs and sausage was very good, but both times I had to send the hash browns back because they were RAW, were are not talking Rocket Science here. I might understand it once if the place was SLAMMED, but not twice, and the toast was just toasted enough to be call toast. read more

The chicken fried steak was pretty bland, montecristo was not very good, scrambled eggs seemed like they were made from powder. Hash browns were decent and we were able to add blueberries to the waffle for $1 but that ended up only being 5 berries that were shriveled and wrinkly. Hubby and I went this past Sunday after Church around 9:30. It was packed out and busy but we still managed to grab a seat. We were immediately treated by a very friendly waitress. She let is know the house special for the day and took our drink orders right away. The place was clean and had a great small business owned feel. I went to the ladies room and was surprisingly very clean. Usually small places like this have paper and toilet paper everywhere but not this ladies room. It was well kept. When I came back from the ladies room our waitress immediately noticed and took our food order. I had the pulled pork eggs Benedict house special and hubby had the breakfast chicken fried steak. They were big portions and filled the husband up. Which is a feat to do sometime. We were very impressed. Hubby said the steak was not hard and over cooked a d that his eggs, hashbrowns, and pancake was also very hot. I could not finish my plate but everything was delicious. I even gave hubby a taste of my pulled pork. It was a great place and we will probably make this our new brunch place for after church everyday. read more

Quite possibly the worst collective wait staff I've ever encountered. We've eaten here 3 times, and the food is always tremendous, but the help is untrained, and frankly do not appear to give a damn. On our first visit, the hostesses spilled our orange juice all over the table. No big deal, accidents happen. The problem was, they had no idea on what to do. They froze, as if waiting for us to clean up their spill. I had to go get the wash rags and clean it for them because they stood there in disbelief and then pushed the spilled beverage around the table with a plain napkin. I watched the owner coach a waitress on our next visit. Immediately after she turned around with her back to the owner, I could clearly read her lips when she disgustedly shook her head and said 'whatever'. That same day, our order was messed up and food was missing, and in order to get a refill on our coffee, my wife and I had to walk up to the breakfast bar an request refills. Today we were sat down, and after watching 2 tables get sat after us and both get served drinks and our table completely ignored, I asked the host to see if we could get a waitress. He politely obliged, only to be told by a waitress, they will just have to wait as she disgustedly shook her head like we were out of line for requesting help. No concern whatsoever. I don't think she realized how close we were to her, or she just hates her job. Thankfully, she was not the one to help us. All these situations individually are not a big deal, but when something happens every time you visit, the sum of the bad service adds up. Good food only goes so far. Shame on us for coming back a 3rd time. This place is destined to fail if they cannot find consistent good help. read more

I've tried this place a couple times. Food is pretty good and has been consistent both times. Service is attentive and decent depending on who you get. My only complaint is the price. $20 lunch tab for a burger, tea and a slice of $4 slice of pie... (unless you like eating spoonfuls of sugar, do not get the buttermilk pie). My co-worker got a burger and a coke, no pie and his tab was $11... (no charge for coke apparently). They nickel and dime you for changing the menu, onion rings are extra. They need to lower their prices or this place will wash out... I probably will not go back simply because though good, the prices do not match the quality of food/service that you're getting. Stopped in for the second time this week, once for lunch and this time for dinner. Chef Curtis and his staff are doing a wonderful job. The food was amazing and you can tell that he and his staff take great pride in everything that they serve. Earlier this week had the Chicken Fried Steak for Lunch and it was so tender that it cut with a fork. The shiner bock brown gravy is to die for. Tonight had the Rapture Roasted Chicken and it was Finger Licking Good. Did I mention the Spoetzl Brewery Soup? This is a true Masterpiece!!!!! You have got to try it! Do not forget the Pecan Pie....If you still have room, had to get it to go...Menu says "Best Hands Down" and it is exactly that..... First off, we are from California & we were driving back from fort sill, OK and decided to eat something but first I looked up Yelp reviews to see what was good in the area, and this gem popped up with excellent reviews, so we decided to stop & im so glad we did! There was 7 of us and we were a little hungry, and good thing my hubby and I shared our meals and so did my mom and dad! There portions were huge and well worth it! The service was excellent! Jennifer was our server! We got seated right away and they were busy! I can't remember the name of the burger/sandwich I ordered, I think it was the big bend....omg delish! So fresh and yummy! The fries alone were to die for! Definitely homemade! You have to try this place! I feel like I need to go back to Texas just for this place, it looked their pies alone were something to try, but we didn't have much of an appetite for dessert after our delicious lunch, we were so full. Had breakfast today and have mixed feelings. I ordered bacon, eggs and home fries with sour dough toast. My toast was served about fifteen minutes before the rest of the breakfast. Then I noticed I did not get the bacon with my order. So, the toast was cold. The bacon was late and overall the quality of the home fries was barely adequate. The logo really caught my eye and I was excited to try this restaurant. The food was good--but I was not overly impressed. The atmosphere was plain and felt kind of like a cafeteria. The staff was kind and helpful. The staff were fast, but the food took a while to get to us. I don't think we will go back, since there are so many restaurants to try in the DFW area.
