Me and my friends were in Dallas for a trip and decided to stop by Hash House for brunch and it did not disappoint! It was super windy that day, so everyone was inside, but honestly the wait wasn't bad at all. We walked in without a reservation and only waited about 5-10 minutes. The food was amazing across the board. We ordered a mimosa flight, and everybody loved it! Some of my friends got the chicken and waffles and were obsessed. I had the French toast with the cone in the middle (can't remember the exact name), but it was sooo good. Service was a little slow, but I'll give them grace because the place was completely packed due to the weather and everyone being moved indoors. Meh. The boujie biscuits were very well made (coming from someone who does not typically even like biscuits) if a bit cold. Butters were fine, but tasted like standard bulk food service butter (you know, that little square butter packet with metallic flavor) with mix-ins. Not fresh. The Stacked and Jacked pancakes themselves were delicious, but I was taken aback by the bananas being served as an entire banana half on top of each side. Not sure why you wouldn't serve this with sliced bananas. No one serves pancakes with whole bananas, or even half bananas. And the mascarpone did not work. These needed butter, not cream cheese. The biggest plus: the menu is designed in a way that allowed us to order a side of eggs, sausage, and bacon as a single order (build your own sides for $11) and then we added hash browns for an extra small charge. AND, there was enough to split - 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, 3 pieces of bacon, 2 hash browns. But the downside? The eggs were 100% the pour out of a carton kind and the hash browns were bulk buy patties. So. There's a theme here. Which is that they don't make a lot of things fresh. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised given the vibe - service is very cold and disinterested. The focus seems to be more on weekend drunk brunch fun than the food. The atmosphere is minimal bordering on industrial. Which. I have been reading a book called "Scarcity Brain" by Michael Easter that talks about the gamification of humankind, including designing restaurants to suit Instagram worthiness for "points" i.e., likes, reblog, comments, etc. So I get it. And I probably should have realized all of this when I looked at the fun and wacky menu online that uses f&ck in their descriptions (not offended, I curse like a sailor). If you want a cool hang out spot, good service, and a nice ambiance, including the cool tunes playing, then this is your spot. However, I was surprisingly disappointed by the food. My latte with oatmilk featured weak tasting coffee. Lattes need a nice strong brew. My entree of chicken and waffles was lackluster. I went with the boneless chicken and it was plain with very little flavor except for the huge pile of maple syrup under the chicken. The chicken sitting on top of a lot of maple syrup was unpleasant for me. My waffles looked amazing, but tasted bland and were dry and lukewarm. The hubby's food of chicken benedict also fell flat on flavor. Again, the dish was presented, beautifully, but food should always taste as good as it looks. Location: The interior itself matches the sunday funday mimosa atmosphere with disco balls, DJ, and modern/chic esthetic. I have only been here on the weekends so it's always been vibe. Hash Kitchen needed to organize the wait times better for this visit. Many empty tables inside and out but couldn't be seated. The hostess manager was quite stressed. Has a DJ and we were right next to the Dj booth. I enjoyed the music but if you're going for a conversation then you might want to go outside. Patio outside is not covered though. All the drinks on the menu are cute, but sweet. If you like sweet you will like them! Got the birria hash. The dipping sauce was good, the beef birria was good, it did have a hint of cinnamon, but good. Their ranch dressing I did not care for. Coffee was good. As others have said, this is a trendy, upscale breakfast type place. I've never seen a breakfast place with a DJ stand and Bloody Mary bar, and lots of spirits. It's got a cool interior, a nice looking outside patio. So why not five stars? It's just me, I'm a pretty basic, Waffle House breakfast kind of guy. This is definitely not Waffle House or Dennys. We split the chicken and waffles, along with the "Billionaire Bacon" to share. The bacon arrived as a single slice covered in gold flakes and drenched in a syrupy sauce so sweet it completely masked the taste of the bacon itself. While the restaurant certainly knows how to make dishes look stunning for social media, the overall experience didn't justify the prices. I really wanted to like this place. I hear that the Bloody Mary bar is amazing. I did see it on the way in, I wondered how it worked. You could literally make a meal on top of your bloody mary. Since i had to work later that day, I decided to not get one this time. Service was pretty slow, the restaurant was about half full when I came in, and I think my server only had 3 tables at the time. The biscuits with the 3 flavors of butter were good, and the tiny mason jars they came in were adorable. I ordered the eggs benedict to split with my mom. The waiter asked us if we wanted it as a scramble or an omelette. He had misunderstood what we ordered but since he asked us that question, we were able to fix it before he ordered it. the coffee was good, I asked for a lot of cream, so my server knew I needed a spoon, yet never offered or asked. He did see me stir my coffee with my fork and nothing was asked. The benedict was woefully under seasoned. I did dump a bunch of pepper on it, that helped, but meh. I noticed that the dishes on the menu were either super hot or "basic AF" That's the literal name of one of the dishes. nothing in-between. the best part though was paying for this meal. The minuscule bar code taped to the furthest corner of the table was not immediately noticible. The server pointed it out for when we were ready to pay. The internet in this part of the street is horrendous and really slow. If you're going to depend on the internet for payment, you really need a better connection. read more

Great concept and fun music at Hash Kitchen. The DJ was enjoyable. The execution and experience were a bit off for me. Long wait to be seated and we had to stand the whole time. Our server did the bare minimum. We had to flag him down to request refills of water. He was not particularly friendly or helpful and everything had to be requested. Finally, my food was very bland and unseasoned. I ordered the scramble and the eggs and veggies had no flavor. It is a fun concept overall but the minimal service and plain food would make me hesitant to recommend to others for dining. Trying this as a new place and I'm disappointed. Sprite so far was not carbonated and just tasted disgusting. This was during the noon and it was pretty dead. The server even mentioned it was dead. And my food didn't arrive but my significant other has had theirs for about 10-15 minutes. What irked me was that our server went to chat with another table and made conversation for a while. I ordered the Basic AF. Luckily the food was still warm but having to wait on something so simple compared to what my significant other ordered really dampened the mood. The decor is SO CUTE! There is plenty of space for small parties or big and even outdoor seating if your feeling the weather. I love the spark of shine and overall decor. While the space as a whole is quite large and accommodating I found it interesting that we were seated in a corner close to a large party when there were plenty of open tables they could have put us at. Due to the proximity and the other table being quite loud - myself and my friend found it hard to hear each other. It also felt like the other table was much higher priority and it took quite a while for us to get water and our order taken. For starter we enjoyed the Benedict fries. Great overall flavor and very crispy. You have to eat them hot but after a while you'll see a lot of oil pooling at the bottom of the dish. For entrees we had the brunchilada stack hash and the carnitas hash. The brunchilada was very intriguing, stack of tortillas with mashed potatoes between the layers topped with half red salsa and half green salsa. Texture wise it could have had some crunch, flavor wise very tasty. The carnitas hash was overall good but I personally wasn't a fan of the carnitas themselves (too soft in texture and an odd flavor for me). Another note to add, the water cups smelled like wet dog... This place is popping on the weekends! Love that they have a dj playing music. He was jamming! It's a tad loud on the inside so you may have to yell a little but they have a patio area to sit out as well. Sandy and Leo were amazing!! The drinks were great and the food was delicious. Sandy checked on us but to too much or too little. She was a sweetheart and contributed to making this a great first time here. Mimosa flight: 8.5/10 these were good and my favorite was the white cranberry! I would've replaced the OJ one with another one of the white cranberry. I didn't get the glitter/cotton candy added - maybe next time but this was good choice . Best f*#$ing Birria hash: 9/10 this was so flavorful and my eggs were cooked perfectly. The meat was nice and flavorful, the consume complimented the quesadillas just right. I would definitely get this again. Buttermilk pancakes: 8/10 these things were HUGE! You can definitely share these with others but overall these were tasty and flavorful. Bacon: 6/10 not a fan of sweet bacon but it was good. Sorry but this place did not meet my expectations for breakfast . The server was very nice but she had a hard time keeping up, and the service is extremely slow. We waited about 30 min for some cold food and some greasy bacon. The food here is bland; the best thing we had was the create your own Scrambler- eggs, cheese, onions, and ham which was served with 2 hash brown patties. And also the pineapple pancakes were pretty good too. They were the only item that we ordered that was served hot! I love the decor (especially the disco balls) and the vibe here. They have a live DJ which was perfect for a Sunday brunch setting. I really enjoyed the entertainment which was my reasoning for the three stars. But the food was just not to my liking.
