Folded, unused moving blankets while lots of our furniture was left unwrapped. Heavy items crushing lighter ones.

I hired Texan Tuff Movers last week to help me load a 20-foot U-Haul truck that was headed from Texas to Minnesota. Byron, Tito, and another worker they were training were prompt and very courteous, friendly guys. Until I reached my location and saw the results of their terrible packing job, I was really happy with how quickly they worked. They seemed to be doing a great job packing our truck even though U-Haul had messed up my order and gotten me a different size. They asked my husband to go out and get more moving blankets to help secure the furniture, which he did, and they still finished with time to spare. I tipped them and offered them beer leftover in our fridge when they finished. However, when we arrived at our destination, we instantly saw that a lot of our furniture and valuables had been damaged. First, they placed very heavy boxes and totes on top of light ones. In one case, two totes weighing at least 100 pounds that contained garage tools had been set on top of a tote weighing 3 pounds that had all of our Christmas ornaments in it. The tote with the ornaments was obliterated, smashing several irreplaceable pieces. Still, I was much more disappointed to see that they had left a lot of our very nice walnut furniture completely unwrapped after I specifically I asked that they wrap carefully in the moving blankets I purchased myself. We have a mix of nicer, upscale furniture and IKEA pieces, and I let them know that the IKEA pieces could be wrapped with the cheaper blankets that I had rented from U-Haul. I had better blankets for the more expensive furniture, and I said all the walnut pieces needed to be wrapped nicely. They didn't wrap the IKEA furniture in *any* blankets. Dressers were simply wrapped in saran wrap, and they left white shelves without blankets at all. Worse, our really nice display shelves that are $600 a piece and that I specifically mentioned should be taken care of (along with all of our walnut furniture) were completely bare and unwrapped in the truck just standing against totes and other furniture. The movement of everything caused them a lot of unnecessary damages and blemishes. And in what almost felt like an insult - at least 15 extra moving blankets, including both the nice blankets I'd bought and the ones they had sent my husband out to get more of, were folded by the side of the unwrapped shelves, completely unused. Other pieces of furniture had blankets draped over them, but no saran wrap had been used to secure the blankets in place. They slipped off in several corners, causing lots of scratching. The movers also took my desk apart for no reason without letting me know they were doing it, and they did not save the bolts that held the pieces together. I am going to have to contact the original furniture company in order to get the extra parts to reassemble it. I am never the person to write bad reviews (this is honestly the first time I've ever done it), but the lack of care and professionalism in their packing job has me pretty shocked. The company that helped me unload when we got to Minnesota said it was the worst furniture packing job they'd ever seen. I am lucky I packed all of my precious items in boxes carefully, but I trusted these guys to help me take good care of my furniture, and they really dropped the ball. Moving is stressful, and packing is hard work; I know mistakes should be expected, but this appears to be a result of carelessness, not a simple mistake. I would warn anyone against using Texan Tuff Movers if you care about what you are moving at all. I wish I had checked Yelp first rather than simply booking through the U-Haul site, as their reviews here aren't as glowing as they are over there.

I got a text from him the evening before to change pick up time to 8am. I said 9am would be better. One of his employees called next morning at 9:30am stating they were trying to get a driver. I waited two hours called back and never got an answer. I was also texting Jackson and no response from him either. So I cancelled after two hours of no response. So they only loaded the truck, I drove it across country and on the other side the unloaders could not believe how poorly it was loaded. Something as simple as stacking carboard boxes on top of heavy duty bins was missed. (see photos) They put my $60 target stools upside down so the legs were facing upwards and then put my chairs upholstery side down on those legs... they did this for BOTH of my living room chairs... (see photo) They HAD TRIED to put a mini fridge full on the inside on top of a crate and barrel wooden console with tiny thin legs. I made them NOT do that - much to their chagrin - while they walked all over it inside the truck. They ruined approximately $2000 worth of furniture. All in all - I lost more in damages than the loading even cost, got no help afterwards and I am lucky that I escaped with the damage I had - it could have easily been 2x-3x the amount had I let them stack the fridge on top of the other stuff. Probably assumed I went away, but - heres your yelp review.

If I hadn't lived through this move myself, I wouldn't believe it. We hired Flex Moving & Storage…read moreafter they reviewed our Zillow listing and a detailed inventory of everything in our 4,000-square-foot home. They assured us they understood the scope, quoted the move, promised six movers and four trucks, and told us it would be completed in one day. Just days before the move, they sent a revised contract increasing the price by more than $7,000. After we pushed back, they lowered it somewhat, but we had already sold our home, it was Father's Day weekend, and we had no practical alternative. We felt trapped and signed. Then they changed the schedule, saying the move would take two days instead of one. We booked hotels in Austin for our family and three dogs, only to receive a call during our pickup window saying they weren't coming at all and would come the next day instead. We canceled the hotel, unpacked beds, and spent another night in a house that was supposed to be empty. When the movers finally arrived the following day, it wasn't six movers and four trucks. It was three movers and one small trailer--one of them wearing flip-flops. After walking the house, they admitted the job was far too big and only then did Flex send more trucks. The loading crew was careless from start to finish. Furniture wasn't wrapped unless my husband stopped them, walls and floors were scratched, leather couch cushions were torn, our stainless-steel refrigerator was dented, and numerous pieces of furniture were damaged. Loading didn't finish until 9:00 p.m., forcing us to drive to Austin and pay for another hotel. The next day we were told to be at our new home by noon. No one showed up. Around 2:00 p.m. three trailers finally arrived--but the fourth trailer was missing, and no one could tell us where it was. Days later we were told to meet a driver at our storage unit. We took time off work, waited, and eventually learned the trailer was still in Dallas. Then, without any notice, a driver later called saying he was already at our storage unit. When we arrived, he had one helper--his wife--and their children were there as well. We ended up helping unload our own belongings. We documented nearly $20,000 in damage and filed a claim. After weeks of silence, Flex finally responded with an offer of approximately $700, explaining they calculate reimbursement primarily by the weight of damaged items rather than their value. The professional unloading crew actually encouraged us to file a claim because they could see how badly our belongings had been handled. That says everything. This was, without question, the worst customer service experience we have ever had. Missed commitments, price increases, no-shows, damaged property, a missing trailer, poor communication, and a claims process that felt designed to avoid accountability. I cannot recommend Flex Moving & Storage to anyone. If you're considering hiring them, I strongly encourage you to keep looking.
