Horrible nightmare does not begin to describe my experience with this super shady business. Dave, the owner/ogre continues to deceptively have 1 star reviews removed because he is dishonest. He deserves less than one star. He threatened to sue me for blasphemy if I leave a bad review LOL!!!! Go read the other reviews AND Dave's responses to them this guy is so crazy it's kind of sad. If he hates people so much why is he in a service industry? I stupidly suggested ogreman movers to my parents when we were looking to relocate the contents of our family home. Our credit card was "accidentally" charged twice. Dave has been absolutely abhorrent in the handling of the situation, especially after the bank (rightfully) reversed the extra charge. He has been completely unprofessional; extremely hateful and has continued to call my dad repeatedly to threaten and berate him. Like actual name calling and threats bordering on elder abuse. Dave is totally unhinged. Claiming we never paid him...reading other reviews it seems to be his go to scam....His treatment towards paying customers and humans in general is absolutely frightening. I can't say enough about how helpful, professional, and thorough the guys were on my moving day. I hired them to load the 26 foot moving truck I drove across the country. They did an incredible job securing everything I had into the truck for optimum security. But the real cherry on top was the effort they put in to correcting the packaging of some of my furniture and other oddball pieces to make sure they got to my new state intact. They were friendly to have over and really put me at ease about the process, and on top of that their work was top notch. I would absolutely hire them again and I wish they have been on the other end of my move to do the unload; that team was far inferior to these guys. If you have a new DOT number please provide it here and update on that website. From the owners comment below we can ascertain he does not have a valid DOT number. They have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau with warnings that they do not have appropriate licensing from Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Am doing a relocate in two big moves, this was the first. We hired Ogre Man to load up a 26' U-Haul beast to the gunwales (because I'm older and my knees and back aren't what they used to be), but we weren't really sure how much we could get in the truck from our 3 bed, 2 bath home. They sent Terrick and Xavier out to do the move and in two hours they loaded everything we really needed on the first move (all the heavy wood furniture), plus a bunch more we didn't think would fit, then a bunch more just to help clear out the house. It was 94° outside here in Georgetown, and had a 'RealFeel' of 104°... man, those guys worked their butts off in that heat. They did a fast job, a very good job and were friendly as could be. This was my very first experience hiring movers. Was a little nervous and didn't know what to expect when it comes to movers, but was so very grateful to find Ogre man! Spoke with Dave the owner, prior to hiring and after speaking with him I could tell how knowledgeable and professional him and his team would be when it came to driving to the Pods Facility and Tetris loading all of our things. Him and four of his crew members came incredibly well prepared the day of the move. He asks ahead of time about moving blankets, ratchet straps for securing items, plastic wrap etc... to make sure that your stuff is secured and protected while being stored in the pods containers. The level of attention paid to our stuff, loading, moving and wrapping to protect everything was very reassuring and impressive! I hate having to leave this review as I have used Ogre man movers many times and have referred them many times as well, all having a great outcome. Unfortunately that wasn't the case with the latest referral... the guys showed up wreaking of marijuana which if you do that on your personal time that's your business but to show up that way is pretty unprofessional. They forgot their tools once we were over to the new place so I had to leave and go get them so they could put the bed together. Then my couch cushion from a brand new couch was missing and all I was told was "go check their truck". I ended up finding it outside in my old homes driveway. I don't mind paying as much as I did for the service but for what I paid I definitely didn't receive that. Beyond impressed with the service that I received from Dave and his team! I was stressed and anxious with my move because I had gotten a small (8 foot) pod from PODS. The other option was a 16 footer because it was an out-of-state move, and I knew for sure I wouldn't need that. I hired Ogre Man to pack the pod for me. Ogre Man was second in line when I was comparing quotes and compared to the first guy, Dave was a saint. He answered every single one of my stupid questions related to moving and packing, not once losing his patience with me. I kept him on the phone for 20-30 minutes. Of course, I was super comfortable booking with him after he reassured me that he and his team were extremely comfortable packing PODS, and that was really their primary line of business. I called Dave a few more times after I'd booked to ask him about packing materials and he was always enthusiastic to answer my, again, stupid person questions. The day of the move, Dave kept me posted that the crew was running a bit behind. Being the second or third window of the day, I wasn't concerned because things come up sometimes and I was in no hurry. I just told him to make sure to bring some Tetris pros, and boy did he! I asked the movers names initially and I (so rudely) immediately forgot. I think the lead mover might have been Xavier, and his colleague had a top row of gold teeth. Both of them were incredibly hardworking and never even stopped once to take a breath. My anxiety got the best of me and I ended up watching them pack the pod, which I apologized for because who wants to be watched while they're working? But they assured me it was OK. The lead mover did not make promises because ya girl had A TON of stuff, but he did his very best and squeezed every last item in there. Let's start. I would never, under any circumstances work with this company or recommend them. I used HireAHelper through Pods.com Ordered the movers to come out for Friday between 1-2pm Received a call the night before confirming the appointment. The next call was at 2pm on the day of the appointment that they'd be here in about 25 minutes. One of the movers refused to enter because of one of our 3 dogs. My wife put the dogs in crates in a room with a locked door. But the mover refused to come in. She asked me to come home (I was out with the kids, to keep them at least out of the house) to get the dogs so the other worker could come in the house. Our house is a mess, I'll admit that. We aren't eating off the floors any time soon. We are packing the whole house up, we have 3 kids and 3 dogs. We hadn't had a chance to sweep or pick up the dog poop. The workers even ragged on the worker that refused to come because he was afraid of the dog. I show up and no one is there 15 minutes or so later. I asked my wife what happened, she didn't know anything. She thought they were outside. I then get a text from an unknown number, saying they are the owner and my house is a biohazard. I had talked to David to schedule this no less than three times in the week or so prior to tonight, and literally he waited until the last minute to extort money out of me. Picked Ogre Man through Hire a Helper as they had great reviews and we were going to use PODS. The moving crew was definitely the roughest we've had, trying to do too much too fast, but trusted that they'd get it done. Tipped and thanked for their time. 4 months later we find our new home and get a moving crew to unpack our POD. Night and day difference and the crew continued to pull smashed box after smashed box out of the POD. Soon they got to the furniture... holes in items, sagging, and smashed. They said there was absolutely no care in the packing and heavy things like the washer and dryer were set on top of furniture like the couches. they noted it was the worst pack job they've ever seen. All in all, no luck getting ahold of Ogre Man and Hire a Helper told us they would pay us $.60 a pound for damages.... Table was purchased for $800, couch and love seat were $1500, dressers were $250 a piece and we were paid enough to buy one dresser. Such a shame as we pay the huge price for the damages caused by careless movers. In response, David - We had $500 worth of moving supplies to protect our stuff. Everything was wrapped, blanketed, and done correctly - You can't put the heaviest items on top of fragile items, even I know that. The next moving crew said it was the single worst pack job they've ever see. What a canned response along with the same one you provided every other review and ranting about COVID in 2023.... Hire A Helper "denied" our claim because we didn't use an "approved" Hire A Helper mover to unload, wonder why we were skeptical of their approved moving vendors. I hate to leave negative reviews but I must for this time so that I can potentially help someone to avoid future frustration. I used Hire A Helper to organize a move from Dallas to Austin with this company helping to unload. I was thinking it would be a breeze but no. I called this company early in the morning to see if it was possible to push back the time for the move. I was inquiring but somehow communication was lost. To my understanding, if you book through a 3rd party then you must cancel that way as well. When I called to simply inquire about the possibility of the pushed back time frame, I was met with "No, it's Fathers Day and people have plans." I definitely wasn't trying to be inconsiderate by asking about the pushed back time. I figured, if you're accepting moves on Fathers Day then that's what this company is doing. He then told me that I needed to reach out to Hire A Helper because they can organize those things. I did not reach out to Hire A Helper because I was just going to leave it. Again, thinking that I booked it through Hire A Helper and I never said to cancel it. Why would I cancel the movers then rush to Austin and not have movers? As an employee, it would have been nice to at least say that it was a miscommunication but the conversations as filled with blame. I'm going to assume that the employee was just having a rough day and I genuinely hope that it gets better because this kind of interaction isn't good for anyone and we never know the things that people have going on. After I ended the unprofessional call due to the arguing and placing blame as well as him raising his voice, he made an effort to text me but yet again, it was still very rude and insinuated that I was rude for calling to check to see if they were still coming? What? That's very odd. Also, he said that the company had been trying to reach me but as I write this review at 3:03 pm I just received a notification that says that THIS company should be arriving any minute now... so my question is, how did I cancel it yet I'm receiving a notification that they should be here? They were also polite and friendly, as well as handling our stuff with care. We just received our pod at its destination and suffice to say everything made the trip without any casualties. Agreed upon day arrived but no workers. David's only response is "Approximately" .... Well let's see. They showed up 5 hours late, not until after 5pm, while telling us they be there "in an hour or so" all afternoon, wasting everyone's day. Left behind the refrigerator, a big wall painting, a chair and a half on the second floor because they had the wrong screwdriver (but brought the cushions, which was super helpful), and left behind the etagere in the master bath. Ogre Man Movers was hired for my move through HireAHelper where they have 800+ reviews at 4.7 stars. We did a labor-only (I had a truck) this time. They showed up within the window and packed my truck without an issue. Labor-only help is a little different than full service and does have reduced liability as one should expect. They rely on you to provide desired protection like straps or furniture pads but this was all explained. I ended up not having enough room in the 15 ft truck but they loaded the remaining couch on their pickup for a fair price instead of leaving me hanging. Don't hire them. My wife talked to David a few times about what size pods, truck and crew (and the supplies such as blankets, wrap, etc.) we would need. At his suggestion we got 50 wrapping blankets and three rolls of wrap among other things. His crew came, seemed very friendly and hard working and things went well for a while. They assured us that everything would be covered by multiple blankets and wrapped with movers wrap. We were busy with other things in our home and did not notice the rapidly diminishing job they did until we got to the other end of our destination. Not only did they not wrap everything in blankets(there were 40 unused blankets in the truck) but instead of using the wrap we had spread throughout the house, they decided tape was easier. We had a brand new desk and two end tables..... among many other things that had the veneer pulled off when we removed the tape. This would not have happened with wrap. Also there was gummy tape resin on much of the furniture that we had to clean off carefully. And too numerous too mention was the unwrapped furniture that ended up getting scratched, dinged or even dented because of the lack of wrapping care. We had a washer with huge dings in the top and a brand new bed frame that had scratches all over it. These guys are a joke. Don't use them, it is not worth the trouble and damage..... read more

Wonderful service provided. Weather problems caused a delay, and the owner was directly on the other end of the phone providing me updates. Excellent customer service and very respectful of my time. The two men who helped us were incredible. What took my wife and I 4 days to pack on our own, they had moved into the house in under 2 hours. ONE OF THEM LIFTED A WHOLE 3 SEAT COUCH LIKE IT WAS A BOX OF PILLOWS! Ogre like strength, yet royalty level service. Quian was a particular delight and a joy to speak with. My wife made multiple comments about how respectful he was because it was raining and he made an extra effort to avoid carpeted areas to not cause any mud to stain. What awesome service! K'awan (I'm so sorry if I spelled your name wrong) and Carlos were champs! Moving in July in Texas is horrible (but at least it's not August) and they knocked it out, in masks even! They helped move my mom from her one bedroom apartment in with me and my husband. This move included loading downstairs and then unloading upstairs. My mom has a lot of heavy antique pieces, books and a washer/dryer. They took extra care with everything. They even moved a six footlong dresser my mom didn't bother to unload (note: if you're moving, please empty all your drawers, don't be an a**). We scheduled them for 4 hours for a one bedroom apartment and a drive of about 15 minutes to the second location. Other then that 15 minute drive, they never stopped working. The price was very fair. I mean come on, how much would you want to be paid to carry heavy a** sh*t up and down stairs for 4 hours? I would highly recommend this business. Now. Some notes for people who have never hired movers or for people who have ridiculous expectations or deep pockets for special treatment. -you are hiring movers, thats all. They are not going to pack up stuff for you. You have to provide them the materials to keep your furniture safe. I highly recommend packing blanket from uhaul (we used 2 dozen), tape and plastic wrap (also uhaul or ace restaurant supply for big rolls). Plastic wrap is your best friend for keeping drawers closed and protecting corners of tables and such. -Fragile things such as mirrors, picture frames, TVs, and computers should be placed in your personal vehicle unless properly boxed. They can't just throw your 65' TV in the truck with your couch and kitchen table. -You can't move a three bedroom house in 2 hours. We did 4 hours for a move from a one bedroom apartment to a one bedroom mother in law suite with stairs both ways. When your hours are up, they may have to move on to another move. They have a schedule just like all of us. The more stairs, the more furniture, the longer it will take. They don't cut corners when packing up the truck so make time for them to do their job right. -You have to communicate what and where you want items. If you have a table with a trick leg, or a bedframe that will fall apart if you pick it up from a particular angle, you have to let them know. They don't know your furniture or your house, you can't check out and finish packing. -They are people, be nice. We made sure to have water, lunch and a tip. The reason you're paying for this service is because it's a hard job that you don't want to do. You have to be kind babies! read more

They are FAST and FRIENDLY. It was a completely great experience. Tru is unbelievably good at this. They had to deal with stairs & some large appliances and furniture, nothing fazed them. On moving day they called to let me know they were ahead of schedule and asked if they could start early, which worked out for me. They arrived and wasted no time loading the U Haul in a way that everything would fit. They made sure the work was done in a timely manner so that I didn't pay more than I needed to. Completely efficient. After they left, I'd forgotten to tell them about an extra heavy appliance that was in one of the closets. My brother and I booked Ogre Man Movers a week in advance to moving into our apartment. Due to 15 minutes of rain, they were "delayed" at their appointment before us. So they asked to push our time back two hours. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Then, two hours go by and they are still a no show. So we reach out to them -- not the other way around -- and they ask to push the time back another two hours. By this time, we had waited four hours past our scheduled time, so we decided to move the stuff in ourselves to avoid even greater late fees on our U-Haul. My fiancée hired this company to help her close out her apartment. I used them when I first moved to Austin 4 years ago but never dealt with whom I am guessing is the owner. This time the crew was good, a little late to the job but nothing to complain about. The issue came all day with payments. He called my wife, talking complete nonsense about not being paid. However, we keep receipts and he apologized. I got involved at the end of the process at the storage unit. He started by rounding up 25 minutes to an hour which had her go over the budget she had set. To me, this was no big deal and I told him that I was going to send her the money however, I was getting a poor signal as were in the very back of a storage complex. I told him that as soon as I got in the clear, we would send him the remaining $58. She had already paid well over $650 so I didn't understand why the classless reactions to think I would skip for peanuts. In the process of getting a signal, he sent my wife a text (before you hire this clown show, ask me and I will share the text and more details of what was said). It was another classless, unprofessional moment for this person. This was the second time he went off and threatened to call the police (sorry but I am not afraid of the police). This was all done, first by phone and then to a female via text. I told her to respond that if he had any other issue that he could reach out to me direct and to provide him my cell. I am a VP at my company and I have never ran into such unprofessional behavior and the words are another matter all together. His guys were classy enough to apologize for him but I told them not to. He displayed cowardly behavior over $58. It took us about 10 minutes to find a spot where we starting receiving a good signal and sent the $58. My issue is texting my fiancee with such malice. We had really high hopes for this to be a good move with this company as they were good on communication. However, our movers failed to cover our items properly causing us to have a damaged fridge, dirty upholstery that now needs to be professionally cleaned, and they caused so much damage to our house. We have a new build home so we know exactly how much damage they caused to our home as this was the first day inside the home completely finished. I can overlook a few dings to the wall and some dirt on the walls, but having to have to call our contractor to repair the damage is unacceptable. Absolutely look elsewhere. I had a great experience with Ogre Man Movers. They called to check in with me several times before my scheduled appointment, and let me know the day before that an earlier time slot opened up and asked if I wanted it. Considering that rain was scheduled for later in the day, I took it! They showed up at 8:30am for the 8-9am arrival slot, and moved my entire apartment into a pod in two hours. They took great care with my belongings and gave some great advice on how to arrange the final items (I was moving a few things elsewhere and needed to rearrange afterwards). They used all the tie line I provided to really lock my boxes and furniture into place, this is the tidiest load in I've seen and I've moved cross-country 3 times. I will definitely call them when I'm ready to move my things out of storage; they really hustled today and I couldn't have done my move down 4 flights of stairs without them. read more

I will NOT be hiring Ogre Man Movers again. To be fair, I'll start with the positives, but the negatives far outweigh them and get worse as the review goes on. Positives: - Before the move, I was given helpful, cost-effective advice on moving supplies (I've moved many times, but not into a storage POD). Day of move: -Even though the hire was for two movers, three showed up. - They were friendly and personable. I think they want to do a good job, but time allotments with little to no flexibility make it very difficult for them to do so. - They stayed a bit past the allotted 2 hour window without charging me extra. - They assured me I didn't need plastic wrap which saved me money (I already wrapped my sofas and bed in plastic moving bags). - I appreciate the care taken when moving my ottoman (they wrapped a garbage bag on one of its sides to to keep it from getting dirty). Negatives: - Before the move, I mentioned twice I needed rope and plastic wrap but was told to remind them when I received the confirmation call the day before the move. The call didn't come and I had to call the morning of the move to remind them. - My moving window was 11am-12pm. They arrived 12:45pm. - I spent $250 on paper moving pads because I was told I would need them for every wood, metal, or cloth item, but 1) one of the movers said he had never used them in other moves before, and 2) only about 20 of the 70 pads were used. Unfortunately, by the time I checked to see how things were being packed into the moving POD, my mattress and sofa blocked the view of everything behind it so I have no idea which items might have needed the pads, but were loaded without them. - I bought extra thick plastic covers for my furniture. When I went to inspect the inside of the POD, I discovered a big tear in the cover that was on my sofa. - The movers did not wear masks during the move. - They turned my red metal filing cabinet UPSIDE-DOWN with all of my files and papers in it. When I asked why it was sitting upside down on the pavement, broken, I was told it was the only way they could get it down the stairs. SERIOUSLY? It was a small filing cabinet, one drawer for files and one much smaller drawer above it. - It explained why my checkbook was found outside of my LOCKED cabinet and why they asked me for tape for it. They were able to put it back together and pull out the top drawer. I wish I thought to try the bottom drawer, but when I tried turning the key in it earlier to try to put the checkbook back (when in the breezeway outside my apartment, taped up), it wouldn't turn. I didn't have my key with me to try it again, and they were in a rush to get everything done and in the POD, so I won't know the true state of it (or any of my belongings for that matter) for a month or more because I'm keeping everything in the POD while I stay with family out of state. - I have moved many times and have never had an issue with movers being able to stay the full time until a job is done and to pay extra for any time beyond what was allotted. It sounds like moves are tightly booked which doesn't leave room for unknowns. While I am grateful they stayed a little extra to try to get the rest, I don't appreciate the carelessness with which they moved my items. - When they unhooked my washer and dryer, they didn't inform me they were unable to turn the water completely off. Thankfully I did a final walkthrough of my apartment before leaving as I discovered a pile of water on the floor of the laundry room with the faucet spraying water out. - I have hired movers many times. This one was the worst. I don't appreciate the stress of knowing I'll need to check things as they're unloaded in the future to know whether damage was caused before or during the unloading. - I later discovered this: "Extra Hours We can always stay at least 2 hours over the prebooked time." - I hired movers so I wouldn't have to move anything from my apartment to the POD and was prepared to pay for any overage time. Knowing they should have stayed to complete the work (and to not rush and be careless!) just adds to my frustration and disappointment with my moving experience. UPDATE: Based on the response to my review, there must be some confusion because: - I go by a different name on Yelp. - I did not "refuse" to get supplies and I didn't sign a waiver of refusal. I was told the paper moving pads are not as protective as the blankets, but they would still do a good job. I was told how many to get (and to get extra, which I did). The issue is that they used less than 1/3 of the supplies to protect my belongings. - I never called to file a claim. I won't know the damage until I empty my POD. Hopefully there is none. - I'm not sure how a third person was a $300 value when my job was less than $300 for 2 men. - There was no mention of covid safety protocol. read more
