My my heater header was installed from them and it had a problem by the heating element. The manufacturer gave them a PO to get the water heater from at other location, that is not what they did the heating element has a problem again. I just spoke with the owner and he said very loud " WE WILL NOT HELP YOU AGAIN". I am 72 years old. I have not done anything wrong to them.Most.Certainly not to the water heater. Absolutely disgusting attitude. I will find someone who it's a real business man. Please be very careful.What that kind of people, please stay away. The owner, Joe, was easy to reach, very straight forward and honest, and gave me a no non-sense quote over the phone that was hard to beat...I know because I shopped around for quotes. He was ready to get me squared away immediately, even if I seemed indecisive, he laid my worries to rest by promising to give me exactly what I want. I know my 40-gallon water heater was on its last legs and I did my research on condensing and non-condensing tankless water heaters along with their pros and cons. Our garage is pretty packed and I felt there was no way they can easily add a drain line for the condensing model. Also, I felt that the non-condensing unit would be the best option for me even knowing that it is slightly less efficient but still much more efficient than the old tank style water heaters; non-condensing doesn't require the drain line, however, involves a larger hole being cut in the ceiling for the concentric venting. Anyways, his team of Jose and Brandon showed up and they reviewed the area and said they could do whatever system I wanted but highly recommended the condensing unit to give me the best flow rate and operational savings. I agreed and they got right to work immediately. They quickly drained and removed the old tank, ran a drain line, and installed the branded condensing unit I wanted...which was the latest Rinnai unit that they said I was only 1 in just a handful that had them in the area because they released just a few months ago. There was one hiccup after install where the flame wouldn't light but it was due to a technology setup issue...the crew apologized and promised to come back the next day to make it right but Joe not even an hour later called me and apologized again and was determined to get it up and running and asked if he could come by personally to try and resolve the issue which he did. Wow! A HUGE thank you during the freeze in Houston! Our water heater went out so I did the Lowe's and Home Depot run first. Lowe's was nice but couldn't install for weeks. Home Depot folks couldn't care less, were rude and couldn't even give me a quote as the installation wasn't their department and the installers would have to call me after I filled out the online form. (FYI.....I'm still waiting for that callback). I checked around, called Texans Water Heaters and they couldn't have been more accommodating, professional and pleasant. I called on a Saturday and they worked me in 2 days later on a Monday morning. 2 guys showed up, took care not to scratch the wood floors, were super nice and changed the old one out in no time! Free estimate is a LIE. This company just flat out told me that the water heater needed to be replaced WITHOUT coming to my home to look at it and despite the water heater NOT leaking. There are many things that can be wrong with a water heater and without the unit leaking, it doesn't always have to be replaced and I am HAPPY to replace the unit if it needs to be done, but at least come on site and LOOK AT IT FIRST to determine that it needs to be replaced. I'm guessing a number of clients have been duped by just being told, "welp, it needs to be replaced." Grateful to have missed this obvious scam. I mean if you need a new water heater and know you have to get a new one, definitely give them a call, but when it comes to getting an honest estimate of what needs to be done, this is not the place to go. ETA: The owner's wife called me back to essentially ask me to take down my review and tried to hide the fact that the person that spoke to me rudely on the phone and refused to come to my home was the OWNER. This "liability issue" is a ridiculous excuse. FWIW, the company coming to my home on Monday is charging me for the visit but will comp the fee with same day services, which is more than fair, but don't offer a FREE ESTIMATE and advertise it if it's just a phone consultation. Responded quickly with a quote that was cheaper than the other vendor I had provide a quote. The other vendor wanted to add additional costs to the install that didn't seem reasonable while TWH was all inclusive with their price. Gave them the green light for the project. They confirmed the date and time (an hour off, but corrected) and showed up a few minutes early. The three man crew led by Carlos (IIRC) quickly got to work. They were friendly and seemed to know their roles in the operation. Seemed like the longest part was draining the old tank. They added a drain pan, new lines, a new shut off valve, and cleaned up the connection to the little thingy on the side (T&P valve or whatever). All said and done, they were finished in about one hours time. The new heater is nice and straight while the old one had a bit of a lean to it. Overall, I'm very happy with the install and the crew. The total price was only $950 which was almost $300 cheaper than the other quote from another vendor that only does water heater installations. read more

Technician did great job - however, the job involved replacing a gas valve for a water heater. The heater had been installed 3 years ago; within a year the gas valve was replaced; today, the gas valve was replaced again. Because the labor warranty had expired, the contractor refused to waive the labor cost. And if the valve malfunctions again, whether in a year or two, I was informed that I would be charged labor costs again - and that if I didn't like it, I should contact the manufacturer. read more

Called Texans for a water heater issue on a unit that was about a year old. The pilot light kept going out. Their technicians were at our residence within less than two hours and very professional in both diagnosing the issue as well as explaining to us what needed to be done to mitigate any future reoccurrence. The unit is installed in the attic and the thermostat on the unit was set lower than the ambient temperature in the attic which causes the unit to shut down completely extinguishing the pilot light.
