I use Groupon and/or go to cosmetology schools for hair services. It helps with my budget and gives…read morethe stylist hours needed for their certification. I have used: Vouge Baldwin Paul Mitchell Aveda I have had average to amazing services from each one. I tried a new one using Groupon called R & C Beauty School. The price of the Groupon was half of their regular fees which is higher than the above mentioned schools. The appearance of the school was clean and looked like a regular salon. I showed up and was greeted. One of the instructors showed me to a chair. We did our consultation and I showed her a picture of the color I would like to try. She explained that it wouldn't be possible, which made me feel good that she wasn't giving me false hope. She had 2 students start the color process. They were nice. They were communicating with each other and at one point went to ask the other instructor a question and he answered them. They were laughing as he was walking away. I thought it was a little rude because from what I could understand they were not being nice about the first instructor. The other issues I had were; one of the students dropped her comb that she was using reached down picked it up and continued to use it and the second was that when the student was starting to blow dry my hair she didn't use any heat protection before she began drying my hair. I understand that it isn't cheap to run a business. However, without Groupon the school would have been close or the same as some salons I've used. I am happy with my color, not the cut.

I had severe bleach damage from an all over bleach I did myself and tried to cover up with box dyes…read morebut the end result was always an orange. I cut off 6 inches and came here to fix it!!! Faith was an amazing stylist, she used a permanent color on my hair to match my dark roots and did a phenomenal job!! It's been around 4 months since she did it and the color still sticks perfectly!! She was also super sweet and very easy to talk to, we had many light and fun conversations throughout the process. Definitely will come back if I need another appointment!!

I have to unfortunately update my review to 2 stars because my recent experience turned out…read morehorrible and I will not be returning. I am not going to name the individual who worked on me to be respectful to her, but I will say the girl who colored and styled my hair needs a lot more training before she is ready to really work on hair. I left with hair dye all over my forehead, my sideburns were soaked with dye and behind my neck by that wasn't the worst of it. I didn't notice how much dye was left in my hair until I got to my car and started running my fingers through my hair. But I was wondering how the hair stylist working on me didn't notice the dye all over my face? Also, my curls, if you can call them that - turned out horrible with tons of frizz on the top of my head, I absolutely hated the way my hair turned out, total waste of money and time. I walked out spending $125 on a single color process, deep conditioning, styling and a hair product - way too much if you ask me for how things turned out. I understand these people are in training and I get that. The prior hair stylist who worked on my hair at this salon did a great job, but she graduated and suggested this newer gal. I trusted the process, but the process didn't turn out well at all. I will say the new gal who worked on me was kind. I am sure she was trying to do her best, but when dealing with someone's hair the basics like being removing all the dye out of someone's hair so it doesn't stick to their face and remain gooey in their hair is imperative - I needed to really wash my hair when I got home, also knowing how to do basic curls in someone's hair should be fundamental - the gal who worked in me had no idea how to curl hair at all. For those wondering why I didn't say anything during my visit, when I looked in the mirror and saw what a mess my hair was, I just wanted to get out and leave and just never come back, which I won't. Then when I went to the register to get rung up it took forever as I was standing their waiting because they were training another lady how to use the register. I believe I realized while I appreciate the lower price point on service at the salon academy, and understand most of the people working their are in training, it's simply not worth it to me to work with people in training who don't really know what they are doing yet, with the risk of messing up my hair and then walking out unhappy. I would rather pay a higher premium working with an experienced stylist knowing I am walking out feeling good with nice hair. I will not be returning to the salon Acedemy in Georgetown.

I usually get my haircut at chain stores, so I did something different today. Awesome experience…read more It's half the price of the cheapest chain stores, yet you get services they don't offer like a shampoo. The place gives off a fun and friendly vibe. It's clear the instructors and management treat their staff well. Leadership experts say doing that makes your employees transfer that joy to the customers. I'm also glad for the sake of the staff themselves. I'm not sure if the students want to keep their names private, so I won't share my stylist here, but she did an A grade job. She not only made me feel welcome and put extraordinary effort on my cut, she fascinated me by telling me all about what beauty school is like Unfortunately they don't take tips from cards, so I couldn't give my excellent stylist a tip. So I apologized to her for not bringing along cash. Next time I need to remember cash. Better than the chain stores at half the price and get you a welcoming and fun environment that makes feel at ease and satisfied.

I went from being a quiet shy girl, to wanting every single blow out and color that walked in. The owners Randy and Wendi made me feel like family. I actually became very close to their daughter as well. To this day, they keep in touch and show a ton of love and support 4 years later! The hands-on training was top-notch, and the curriculum was well-structured to cover everything from the latest techniques to business fundamentals. The staff genuinely cared about student success, and the positive, professional environment made learning enjoyable. I highly recommend this school to anyone serious about pursuing a career in cosmetology! Attached is Highlights & a style I did while I was there!
