The bad reviewers here seem to either be a lil sensitive or just had bad luck on the particular day they went. I've been a frequent flier at Texas Aquatics since they opened here. We currently have 13 planted freshwater tanks in our house ranging from nano to 75 gallons, so my husband and I are always looking for something. For those complaining about customer service... this depends on how busy they are. Some of y'all forget these are human beings just like you. If someone calls off, or their internet shuts down, or they just have an overall bad day, of course that's going to affect their service. Calm down, you're buying fish, not survival supplies. And you are buying from people like me who probably prefer animals to other humans....... for clear reasons. And if you buy plants and get snails... lol, welcome to planted tanks. Don't overfeed, and they'll control their own numbers. Get some assassin snails, they're fun to watch hunt. As for dirty tanks or sick fish, that happens-- but I see it minimally here vs other fish stores. Overall, most of the fish I've bought here have been healthy, and most issues I have had were usually my fault. Majority of my interactions with the employees have been pleasant, but I recognize most of them as fellow introverts. They are also very responsive on Facebook, and tbh they're the only reason I really use FB anymore since they use their store page for stock updates. read more

The service is horrible, I walk in to the store and the workers sit in a room and everyone is unserviced. I went to get a fish and I look into the tank and many are dead. I took one home and it was very unhealthy and passed, I then went again and that one passed as well. They never reached back to my email. Very unhealthy fish and bad service read more

It's an okay store .. big and roomy.. but wow their prices are wild! Who's buying these tanks and supplies for so much money in this crappy economy.. a $5 common pleco is now $150??? A $5 goldfish is now $100??? Staff was about 6 kids , not friendly and didn't offer help. They are in their own world. read more

Terrible customer service. Won't be coming back here or recommending to anyone. The way the member of staff spoke to us was disgusting. We had called the day prior to ask if they had a fish in stock, we were quoted $5 a fish. We came the following day and only saw the fish in the display tank. We asked for assistance and the guy that helped us told us the fish would be $8 instead of $5 as the quote we'd been given the day prior had sold out and as these guys were in the display tank (which he'd have to rip up) were gonna be $8 instead. Ok, sure, weird but whatever. We told him we wanted about 10 of them, he went and got his equipment and began getting them out of the tank which he did quite roughy. He only had to pull two plants out the tank, which were offered to buy, he said they were usually $8 but he'd have to charge us $15 cause that's what his wife would want - she's the manager. Huh? Why are you telling us this info and blatantly upcharging us. He struggled getting the fish out and we told him what he had was enough. He told us no, we had to buy all the fish in the tank, all 22. Wtf!! This guys was just changing the rules constantly, if that was the case he should have told us before he started getting the fish out the tank. It felt as if this guy was trying to make a quick buck out of us. He wouldn't let us just buy the fish he had already gotten out the tank. We told him we'd take our business elsewhere and left. Very strange experience, we frequent a lot of the fish stores in the DFW area and have never encountered this before. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

Always helpful and just sassy enough....I love Torry sass. Literally able to just call and ask questions after having been in there a couple of times they Literally knew me by name....when I asked about a fish in the display tank was told that the fish prices on them were jacked up because while these fish are technically for sale they don't want to sell them since they've been here for a while and they love them....and that I couldn't just buy one....as they are besties.....my tank has never thrived so much as since I've started following their advice on filtration and stocking and plant selection etc....I love it here they treat you like family. I drive almost an hour to shop for fish here, yes some fish tanks have dead fish but that's just part of the game .The employees take very good care of the fish and any questions I have I make one call and they take time to give me the best answers possible they go as far as testing water samples I bring in to let me know what I can do different, I recommend this place to any new fish owner or tropical fish lover!! read more

This is by far my favorite reputable aquatics store. It's a small family owned store with a very exotic stock with fish and shrimps I have never heard of. I bought several rummynoses at petco and they kept dying, went to dallas north aquarium to look at their rummynoses stock and they all looked very pale, their red heads weren't there and their cardinal tetras also looked slight sick. Some were loopy and their red stripes weren't as pronounced so i didn't buy them. Found out about this store through Dfwfishbox and found out they had rummynoses and cardinals here as well. All healthy colorful fish, staff was very knowledgeable. Bought 13 rummynoses here and only 1 died, bought 11 cardinals, and no deaths. I will definitely buy my stock only from this place from now on! read more

Bought home plants and snails from this place and few days later four yoyo loaches dead few days after that find out it's a fungus problem and dwarf gourami died then opal one gourami shows signs of the fungus not able to use gills and close mouth or eat. Then velvet wag molly turns up dead. All their tanks are gross and way way overstocked. Fish look very unhappy. I'd advise staying away unless you medicate your tank for bacteria and fungus. Believe me. Fish will turn up dead. I knew better than to get plants especially snails from there. Why I didn't listen to myself or my fiancé idk. But don't bother. The place is gross and I've never seen so many big fish in a small fish tank. read more

This aquatic sanctuary has many arrays of freshwater species, however they are lacking the saltwater aspect of the aquarium hobby. However in my opinion saltwater is not a need and if anyone disagrees then you can visit glass aquatics where all they have are saltwater aquariums. Texas aquatics has an array of elegantly beautiful tanks, the main reason I visited was because they had a large selection of silver Arowanas. After discussing a few habitations requirements for my existing albino Oscar with the overly polite and helpful employee I decided to purchase a 120 gallon tank with an included light, stand, pump, and fittings for a cheap price of $400. I now know for a fact that I will never go anywhere other than this store to stock my tanks. read more

My new favorite fish store. The place is 100% freshwater, no saltwater, and has an excellent selection. The prices are great as well. It's a no-frills location and reminds me of the aquarium stores I used to visit in the 80s and 90s...That's NOT a bad thing! In addition to your standard guppies, platties, tetras, danios, gouramis, etc, they also have: cichlids small selection of plants shrimp including cherry, blue, black, and ghost bichirs, eels, and other "oddballs" some used equipment goldfish threadfins cories plecos rainbows plus a lot more that I am forgetting. I just carried off a haul for less than $30 the other day, got 4 fish, 2 snails, dozens of ghost shrimp, and a frog...and I already want to go back for more. read more

A run down building with a neglectful owner. He doesn't care about his animals and abuses them. Tanks are dirty and cloudy. I've tried 3 times to get fish from him and every time every last fish has died. My most recent purchase was Monday, october 16th. I purchased 10 ember tetra and by friday 4 were dead. I suspect he is jucing his tanks with steroids or antibiotics do putting them in a regular tank is just going to mean death. read more

Very friendly shop with a great selection for tropical fish. Amazed at 18" fire eels to hundreds of neon tetras they have a lot. We went looking for invertebrates too and they didn't disappoint there either. While the tanks may look thrown together (its crowded and home made) the fish are all very healthy that we've gotten. Nice and educated employees that helped me out a lot. They have a great selection of fish especially for the size of the store. I have bought a Koi betta, African Dwarf Frogs and some Corydoras, which have all been great. I definitely will be coming back to get more fish and plants. read more

Without a doubt this is one of the best tropical fish stores I've ever done business with. It is a family owned business and it shows. They are attentive and courteous as well as knowledgeable about their products. Most of the time the store is pretty busy, but they still manage to help every customer. The fish I've purchased have been healthy and I've had few problems. When there has been an issue, it was resolved.(remember, these are tropical fish, there will be problems sometimes) The store specializes in Cichlids, but has a healthy selection of other fish as well. read more

This place has a good assortment of fish. They have the largest selection of shrimp I've seen at a store. I ended up buying three pea puffers as a result of thinking they were cute and adorable. Shame on me - I should have researched their care a little more. After having them for a few days, I realized they weren't suitable tank mates for my aquarium, so I took them back and received no hassle at all. Going to just give a one star if I could I would give none, this is all strictly about how customer service. I do not recommend coming here and asking questions about the fish, I was followed the entire time being talked to like I was an absolute idiot, making very subtle jokes and implied that I had no business waking into the s made me very, very uncomfortable I understand that said employee was trying to help BUT the approach that was taken was not one for store front customer service. I tried many times to just walk away and even when said employee went in a different direction than I did they came back very quickly and was practically breathing down the back of my neck, I hate to say it but I will not be returning back to this store to purchase any fish when all I asked was what kind of fish this was and what would I be able to pair it with. There aren't a lot of tropical fish places in town, so I was kind of excited when I heard the people who created Keller Fish Farms were opening up a new store. As it turns out, inspiration only hits once. The location is in a run down and ragged building with an awful parking situation. Inside there is water everywhere all over the ground. Most of the tanks are cloudy and difficult to see through. The condition was so bad I figured if I could leave with a live fish it may die in a day or two because it won't be able to survive in normal water. Sure enough that's what happened. read more

Knowledgeable people with the typical "mom and pop" store atmosphere. Service is perfecct, but they will not sit on your shoulder and push you: Ask them and you get the most/best genuine advice you can get! They do have many unusual fish and the fish are healthy. The only 'problem' that I come to look what they have and leave with too many fish... Check for their weekly specials and new arrivals. Many great deals.
