IF was up to me THERE WOULD BE NO STARS! Very disappointed with my experience at Texas Auto Center. I have made my payments as agreed and contacted them before my payment was due because I was trying to change my payment schedule after being told by the finance team that after six months I could make one payment per month instead of bi-weekly. When I tried to do that, I was given a completely different answer. I was told the first month "does not count," that I would have to rewrite my contract, and that my payment would be around $780/month. None of this was explained to me when I purchased the vehicle or provided to me in writing. Instead of taking responsibility and helping resolve the issue, I was passed between departments while I was at work trying to get answers. My vehicle was even disabled while I was actively trying to communicate and resolve the situation. Customers should not have to chase down important financing information after the fact. Clear communication and accountability matter. I hope management takes this seriously and improves how they handle customers. please do NOT Waste your time there I had issues as of day one request to take it back the next day. read more

If I could give absolutely no stars I would. I purchased a truck from them, within a week the car started to sporadically turn off and then the ac started blowing hot air. Took it in for service which they said it was a loose hose that was causing the shut offs while driving and the ac just needed to be recharged. Got the vehicle back and then again within a week or two the ac starts blowing blazing hot air again and here's the kicker, I was driving on the 130 to Georgetown to pick up my daughter and the car completely shut off on me. Other cars on the road were swerving around me and stopping hard just to avoid hitting me at over 80 miles an hour. Texas Auto Center tows the car in and once they say the mechanic has gone over everything the ac condenser has a leak (curious how they didn't find this the first time, it's like they're not truly checking and fixing issues. Then they say they cannot find out what is causing the shut offs so therefore there is no issue. I ask what are my options because at this point I'm literally fearful of driving the truck especially with my kids in it with me. Danny talks to the GM who says no I'm not allowing a trade out because the mechanic can't find an issue. I ask so I'm supposed to drive this vehicle risking me and my kids lives and Danny says you can just release the car but it'll go on your credit report as a repossession. So to sum it all up I either risk me and my kids lives driving a vehicle or let them hit me with a repossession. read more

For starters the people our unprofessional and racist. i purchased a car may 30th by December my transmission was blown when I first took my car in in AUG 29th I told the service lady that it was my transmission because my car was stuck in gear she insisted that it wasn't that they would run test and get the problem fixed they had my car for a few days to fix the gear shift switch that cost me 400 dollars added to my note I got the car back on Thursday parked it went out running earnings Friday Sept 6th it was even worst wouldn't come out of gear wouldn't even move crystal insured me that it would be fix no charge to me that took about two weeks it was a quote on quote electrical problem got the car back again had it for a bout a month and it started saying my doors were unlocked while driving causing my car to jerk my check engine light had came on reached back out too have my car looked at took it in November 29th they fixed all this other stuff it was covered under warranty so it was 250 added on got the car back Dec 16th it drove good for 10 days when it finally made a loud noise started shaking nd just cut off in the middle of the highway had it towed back to Texas auto with the poorest communication I had to call and verify they had the car then once I expressed my frustration with the service lady she told me to speak with Danny in finance about options she transferred me I set on hold 30 mins left a voicemail no response a week pass the service department reached out to inform me that it was my transmission which is covered in my warranty nd will be added to my account in 2025 did I want them to fix it i expressed my irritation again she then transferred me to danny no response she even emailed him I call again to speak with Danny no response finally I get ahold to him very passive doesn't care I express my irritation tell him I don't want the car he say let him look into it because I was correct the car has been in service to many times so there will be options he will get with service give him a few days he'll call me that was a Friday i heard nothing back till I called him Thursday and when I talked to him he was confused nd i reminded him of what he said he and that I no longer wanted the car he then went to say thanks for reminding me give me a second I'll call you right back . He calls back and says that I had two options one the transmission could be fixed on them or two pay 1000 down for another car which made no sense y should I have to pay for another car because I was sold a bad one so I agree on the fix that took 3weeks no communication at all I finally called to see if my car was ready in fact it wasn't crystal said by that Thursday it will be ready 1/21 car is ready for pick up with a balance I'm confused because they want me to pay for a car I had for 11days out of 31 then pay a full 700+ in 9 days because my note will be due again that pissed me off so im calling to talk to Danny he's not there I get another man that barely spoke English that kept telling me the service and finance dept where to different things which I know I ask to speak with some one else he placed me on a 45min hold nd then the phone hung up .. I called back and got Sebastian he was more understanding but wasn't helpful so I let them have they car back ... communication is key accountability is key giving people good quality service and cars should be key but not here it's all about money. read more

I rated this company one star only for the sake of being able to write a review. Where to start? Worst car buying experience EVER! And you know, with me being in the customer service industry for many years, I try to cut people a little slack when it comes to things of such. From the salesman on up, this whole ordeal was preposterous! From being swidled to downright put off. So I called first to address what my options would/could be and over the course of two weeks, I was given unreasonable answers or feedback on what I was trying to do with the money I had available. I had to put in several applications to get a response on what car/price range I was able to procure. Now, I'm not gonna say my salesman was all bad, but I will say he wasn't the best. I was going for a Toyota Camry and was told the car would be on the lot for the price we discussed. When I arrived either the car was gone or there was another Camry (which was an identical twin to the one I first saw) that was alot more expensive than the one I first layed my eyes on. Ok, that right there should've been a red flag right? But no, I strapped on my crash dummy helmet and went and made another choice. Into the picture comes this 2015 Kia Optima. Oh my was she a beauty! Take her for a test drive shall we? We shall. I know it's a used car, so of course it wouldn't be in immaculate condition. But what was to happen next, I wasn't able to predict (as I was told by Danny in finance... Will come back to that later)! So I was satisfied with the test drive, everything "worked", the lights, radio, A/C, heat, ignition, brakes, etc. I ran out of time the first day, so I scheduled a time to come back the following day, which would be Friday just passed. On Friday I came in all google eyed, ready to proceed into my first and last purchase with Texas Auto Center of said 2015 Kia Optima. The transaction into the purchase was anything but smooth! Especially pertaining to the fact that I already made my decision on the car on the day prior. I came in at about 3:45 p.m. and didn't leave until almost 7 p.m. Took a finance/accounting lady over an hour to actually get to me. The smell of rancid cigarette smoke gave me an indication of what the hold up actually was. I guess business isn't as important on Fridays, I don't know. Finally I was able to to finalize everything and get on my way. In my expectations and hind sight, that's what i thought. To skip over to the nitty gritty, I drove the car home. everything was fine, at least until I decided to take my second drive. I'll be got darned, the piece of s**t car wouldn't start!!! In my mind, I'm defending the car lot and kicking myself where the sun don't shine and chalking everything up to inclimate weather. It's been slightly more than chill the passed couple of days. I jump start the car. I let it run for quite some time to insure that the battery got fully charged. I take a ride to Killeen, (mind you I stay in Austin) to visit my significant other, to try to close the gap of mileage that sits in between us. If you totally cared for someone, wouldn't you travel a little over 50 miles to go see them? Any good natured, well to do person would! I stuck around for quite some time, casual dinner, a little punch, you know, spent some quality time. All good things must come to an end at some point. Especially if you have responsibilities like going to work for example. I mean I did just purchase a car. So what happens when I got all prepared to leave? The damn car wouldn't start again!!! I couldn't freaking believe it! Not again! Again?!!!! Wow! The frustration level was off the charts! I didn't drive to Killeen in anticipation of an Uber bill in return! I really could not even fathom that pissy surprise! However, I remained somewhat calm and collective. I was sure that the dealership would right this wrong. I couldn't have been more shocked and appalled by what I got next. At the end of this day I was livid. I texted my salesman (on a Sunday) and let him know the issue I was having with my new purchase. He tried to be as helpful as he could. He seemed sympathetic to my situation. He gave me some helpful numbers to call at Texas Auto Center's beginning work day. I was assured that something was going to be done to rectify the situation. Mind you, Christmas Eve is tomorrow. So I called the first helpful number that I was given (or so I thought). The guy that I was told to call to speak to in finance (Danny) couldn't get to me right away, and I was told he would call me back. The other helpful number I was given was the service department. Here's where the real BS began. I explained my situation, that I just purchased a car that was undrivable. I was told to call a number of a towing company that could get my car towed and into the service department right away. I was supposed to have my car repair expedited! EXPEDITED!!! After purchasing my first vehicle with Texas auto center it has become a nightmare. I've paid 15000 towards the loan roughly and now my engine is giving out on my Hyundai sonata 2015. The engines are faulty and they refuse to trade the vehicle. Also and biggest issue with this company is they think that we can go two weeks without a vehicle and still continue paying it. I purchased a vehicle little over a year ago.. going through a divorce and changing aspects in life, I have calls from financial difficulties which are not hard to overcome. I've reached out to the company about my payment. Spoke with the agent specifically on how my pay period has changed due to me having a new job. Unfortunately, the person that I was speaking with did not notate correctly on what needed to happen with my account so that way my payment can be made and other payments after can be taken care of on time.. understanding of the process and the procedure. Ask Umr for a one time exceptions I was told yes.. come to find out the information notated on my account with called. it was not on the correct dates.. Overall yes I do take responsibility on my payments so don't give people false hope and false information and give them an idea that you're going to help them when you're not. People work hard for what they have and for what they want just like I'm pretty sure you do outside this job as a consumer for other companies.. after a 10 year relationship with this company, this might just be the end of it. If you're looking for a car and payment that can fit your needs is a sure that you get the right information given to you that things are explain to the point to where you know they're going to help you and they're going to notate what they're saying for you. The radio didn't work and the back speaker was busted. I have been lied to on several different occasions in regards to the time my vehicle will be fixed. Got a call from Texas Auto Center where I bought my car Saturday. It was Carlos the guy who sold me the car saying I needed to come in to resign paperwork bc there was a mistake in the original paperwork. I asked what was wrong and he said he'd go over it with me when I came in. He asked when I thought I'd be coming. He sounded urgent. I said I wasn't sure bc I was at work. He said OK. I was suspicious bc it seemed he didn't want to let me know what was wrong but wanted me back in ASAP. I knew that could only mean money. After running it by a coworker he said if he doesn't tell you just dont go. I decided to give them another chance so I called and said I couldnt make it after work so to tell me what's wrong so if its urgent i can plan accordingly. Carlos said he had to get with finance and would call me back in a few minutes. I never got a call back. So I went there in case something was an emergency. Before going in i made sure to have a witness on the phone. Carlos sat down with me and said the mistake was to the interest rate. I got 14.09% and he said it was supposed to be 16.9something(basically 17%). I said that doesn't benefit me so im not signing. He said he had to talk to his manager. A few minutes later he comes back with a woman who explains they're must have been a glitch in their system. All their vehicles have to be financed at a certain percentage. She said they would give me a full tank of gas for the mistake. I asked what would be the outcome if I refused to sign bc I wasn't going to resign a contract that didn't benefit me. She said they would give me a refund and take the car back. I told them that was fine. I'd take the refund and contact an attorney with my original contract. They went back to the manager. After a few minutes Carlos came back and said the manager said everything was fine. I could keep the car at the outlined 14% interest rate. I rated 2 stars bc I like Carlos and feel really bad for him. Management put him in an extremely uncomfortable position regarding something that wasn't his fault. But this was unacceptable. To add insult to injury to threaten me with taking the car not knowing if I had a ride home?! I did bc I was smart enough to call backup before I went but still! What if I hadn't or what if I didn't Have that option?? I contacted an attorney anyway just in case down there road there's some funny business on their part I can be prepared. I know lots of people who recommend this place and think its wonderful. I did too until today. Rated them high on Google(I think it was) the day I bought it bc they send you a text with a link asking you to rate them. But now this is the review I stand by. Beware if you buy from here. I got a new job 2 months into me purchasing this vehicle and they told me they couldn't change my payment schedule to reflect my new job until I was in the car for at least 6 months. So I waited till I hit the six months mark and submitted the necessary paperwork that they had requested from me. The people that work at the finance department are extremely rude and not very understanding. Their lack of communication between each other and proper training have led to me being behind on my payments for four months now even though I did everything they asked me to do. After finally getting ahold of the manager of TAC I could see why his employees were very rude and lackluster. It starts from the top. Use this place as a very last resort. I do not ever recommend buying a car with Texas Auto. I have purchased 2 vehicles with them and both vehicles broke down within a month of having the vehicle. I got a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse and I put 2000$ down payment. My payments started out 275$ every other week. It's been a Year and my payments are over 600$ a month for a vehicle that never works. It has been in the service department 4 times within a year. I'm at the point where I don't even want the vehicle anymore but don't want a repo on my credit. TAC is no help at all. They are so rude and not understanding at all. I was able to purchase a 2023 Honda Passport with my payments being only 400$ a month. DO NOT SHOP with Texas Auto!!!! Terrible service!! I'd give them 0 stars, but it's not an option. This will be lengthy...proceed! I got 1st car from them Aug 2012 a 2007 Dodge Caliber (5 yrs old and 78K miles). Lasted a whole 6 months before EVERYTHING broke down! In the 3.5 yrs I had it I replaced: all new wiring, new starter, new alternator, TWO electronic throttles and an AC unit. AC lasted all of 16 months before dying again! I was SO freaking stupid and let them talk me into putting me in another car. Oct 2016 got a 2011 Mazda CX-7 with 92K miles on it. AGAIN, 6 months later it starts breaking down; issues w/headlights, sensor went out, transmission out, and the "pièce de résistance" 7-2-19 the engine overheated on way to work and went out completely. Let me also mention that during this entire 7 years, all the time my cars were in the shop....NO loaner!! Now, they REALLY think I'm a freaking stupid blonde because they truly wanted me to get ANOTHER car from them: another 7 yr old 100K mileage piece of XXXX!! NO! NO! NO! NO! I've had it with them!!! With only 8 payments left, I removed my vanity plates and handed them the keys!!! (and by the way....NOT one single manager has ever called me about returning the car. Tells me they don't give a XXX about it either!) FYI: I then went to CarMax (highly recommend!!!) whereupon I got a fantastic car: 2017 Honda HR-V, only 20K miles, WITH extended warranty of 5 yrs, 100K, plus GAP insurance, roadside assistance and IF the car goes in shop, I get a loaner!! Charged me $1000 to fix steering pump because it "wasn't under warranty anymore" took them 3 weeks to "fix" it and finally got the car back and steering pump failed again after a week, took it back in and after another 2 weeks of them having the car they tell me that they will not fix it because it's not worth their time, and will not give me the refund for a job they didnt finish. The idiot let the car sit in the junk yard. And they had to go get it. We had their in house insurance. They made me pay a deductible of only 250. And wrote off the car. Now this was a two year old car. They helped me get into another one that day. So when It came time for my husband to buy a car. I told him we should go with them. We walked in and no one gave us any attention. Now I was paying my car note over there phone auto voice payment system. Maybe they wasn't use to seeing me. I don't know, but maybe we just didn't look the part for these gentleman to treat is with any kinda respect or urgency. We sat there waiting . . . And waiting. Finally We walked out and started looking at the cars our selfs. I thought eventually someone was going to come and help is. . . NOPE. Finally we walk back inside. By this time. I was demanding attention. But my husband was over it. We walked out with all our money in my purse and went else where. Also I have just payed off my car from them. This is one of the worst scam lots in Austin . Don't recommend anybody shop here not even my enemies !! When you call the system to make a payment you pay that amount then two days later they call saying your short on that payment . Then they told me my car would be disabled because they fuck up !! I'm going to another car lot and let them have there car back . If you shop here you will be doing the same !! I purchased a vehicle on the 27th of September October 2nd I had to take it to the service they had it for a whole week got the car on the 9th of October pulled off went to the highway the car cut off again the car is still shaking brought the car back up here now I'm sitting here been 2 hours now they full of shit they slow they act like they only have one fuking mechanic so how did they fix this vehicle and the vehicle is really doing the same thing did they really fix it? Yes I test drove the car the only problem was shaking when I did get the vehicle. I wish I could say enough horrible things about this place but I will do my best to try. I bought my car through a different dealer that was bought out by this company. Since the change, I have had to deal with this joke of a company. I have not missed a single payment. I have paid on time every month in full but this company treats me (and others) I'm sure like complete crap. Every staff member I have spoken with has been completely rude towards me. No apologies given of smoothing over. I HATE THIS COMPANY!!!! 1. They have an option to pay online for your "convenience" but then you still have to call them to let them know you have made a payment. I'm still trying to figure out what the heck they do since their entire job is to process payments. 2. If you don't call them, THEY WILL SHUT YOUR CAR OFF. They won't bother to check if you made a payment and they won't bother to call you either. THEY WILL SHUT YOUR CAR OFF. Then when you call to complain, they are rude to you and tell you "These are our rules. Suck it." And they speak to you as if YOU are the culprit. I want to report this company to someone because the way they conduct business should be illegal. It's definitely not ethical but I am stuck paying these vultures for another two years.
